Kelly was so excited, when she had been exploring she saw a room set up for gymnasts. It was like her wildest dream come true. Being able to go in there whenever she wanted? Oh hell yeah. Much like she was going to right now. Oh and she even heard there was a gymnastics coach, the girl was fairly giddy with excitement. Now if only there was a cheer squad her life might start to feel normal again.
Her long blond hair was in a ponytail and she was in a pair of spandex shorts and sports bra as she entered the room. Kelly had her dufflebag that held her water, a towel, and boombox. The music player was the first to come out and she turned it on. After slipping off her shoes she started to warm up. Many called her stupid, airhead, bimbo Barbie and all that. But when it came to this she was most serious. The only thing that had stopped her from possibly being an Olympic hopeful was the fact that she refused to make it her entire life.
Once she warmed up she turned on the song Single Ladies and started in a routine that she had been working on. It was going to be the one that she taught her squad for when they went to nationals, but that dream died a quick and brutal death. The smile was on her face, but here eyes were very much focused as she went through each part of the routine. Never satisfied until it was utter perfection. Kelly was in her comfort zone.

During her rather expertly performed routine, Kelly had forgotten to shut the door. And well, the music was rather loud. Carol's office was down the hall, and she knew where the noise was coming from. It was forming from the main gymnastics room. Smiling to herself, Carol got up from her seat and began to make her way to the classroom. She had double checked her schedule and she knew she certainly did not have a class today, infact, she considered this to be her 'day-off'. Of course, a day off in Xavier's school would generally mean not leaving the campus grounds, for that was the safest and wisest option.
She made her way to the classroom, and stopped once she reached the doorway. There was one lone student in there, a young girl, practicing a rather unqiue and developed routine. Carol narrowed her eyebrows as she tried to figure out who in fact this was. She didn't recall having any blonde haired girls in her class, nor did she recall having a girl who knew a routine to Single Ladies. Watching in interest, she leant against the doorway with her arms folded. The girl obviously appeared to be in her zone and Carol knew all too well how frustrating it was to be broken and ripped out of it. She merely stood there, waiting until the girl would notice the coach leaning in the doorway.

Kelly finally got the routine how she wanted it. The girl started to walk and shake out her hands and arms. She rolled her neck and then made her way over to the bag that held her water. She had started sweating but then, she had to keep stopping and rewinding the song. At least until she was satisfied with each part of the routine. Finally, she noticed the woman standing there watching her. The water bottle stopped about halfway to her lips as she blinked at the other blond. "Am I in trouble?" She didn't know if she was technically allowed in her or not. Kelly had just needed an escape, something familiar. She was still new to this whole mutant thing, and still a little terrified.

Coach Carol (that's catchy) merely smiled as the girl finally realised that she was standing there. Her arms remained folded as she pondered for a few moments before finally speaking. "Not at all. I was just interested to know who was using my classroom." Well, it wasn't really her classroom, but she spent much more time in this classroom than any of the other staff members. Either way, normally she would be slightly frustrated that someone was using her classroom without her permission, but really, it wasn't such a crime.
"That was a heck of a routine. You practice that often?" Carol finished leaning against the doorway and moved inside the classroom. She was genuinely interested in where this routine came from and how long it had taken this younger girl to perfect it. After all, even someone like Ms. Danvers needed a bit of inspiration from time to time.

Kelly sighed with relief and then took a sip of the water. She didn't gulp it like she wanted to, because she knew it would make her sick. As much of an airhead as people called her, she knew how to take care of herself. "I just wanted to make sure. I didn't know if it would be an issue or not, but I had to do something. Oh yeah, I'm Kelly Wilson... New." New to the entire mutant thing.
The girl beamed at the compliment. "Actually, I've been working on for a couple of months. It was supposed to be the routine we took to Nationals.... but... well stuff happened." She sighed and took another sip of water. She still couldn't believe they just abandoned her like that, and then completely cut her off as if she didn't exist. That hurt the most.

"You were in Nationals?" She was intrigued and almost entirely excited by the prospect of having natural born talent in one of her classes. Not to say the people already in there weren't, but this was a high grade of talent that didn't exactly walk in the door everyday. Yet, the ways of the world always seemed to crash down on peoples dreams and their plans to follow it. This, Kelly, must have experienced something along the lines of being kicked out due to her gifts.
"Ms. Danvers. Let me guess, they kicked you out because of your gifts?" It sounded alot like what she experienced when she was in her late teens. She wasn't exactly kicked out, but her lack of knowledge of her powers caused the death of her older brother and ruined any chance she had at pursuing her dreams of a Airforce member. Still, these things tended to happen for a reason; as much as she hated it.

A grin split her face wide. "Our cheer leading squad went to Nationals the last three years, this would have been my fourth and final at the high school level. We were champions three years running." The smile faltered and the sparkle dimmed a bit in her eyes. She wasn't going to Nationals this year and she knew it. She slapped the smile back on her face and took a drink, her legs were moving in place as she cooled down.
Blue eyes saddened a bit more at the mention of it. "Hello, Ms. Danvers. I've actually only been here a couple of days... Actually, I only found out I was.. I was.. A couple of days ago. It wasn't one of the best moments either. I was told in front of my friends and fellow classmates by a really big robot." She still had nightmares, but she didn't know what scared her most, the big robot calling her a mutant, or when she touched the hot guy she had been flirting with, and her book started glowing.

"Three years? Nice work." Carol genuinely applauded not only the skill of Kelly, but her dedication to her craft. That passion she had seemed to fall into tune with Carol's own passion for all things airborne; too bad that entire dream was now a completely shut and bolted door. Yet, the fact that she had experienced her dreams' end made her feel so much compassion for this younger girl. Her spirits seemed to try so hard to stay high, even with everything that had happened in her past.
"The Professor has told me about those robots; they are called sentinels. However, you don't need to be afraid anymore, with the amount of mutants here we could easily stop one of those gigantic things." Walking forward, she placed a comforting hand on Kelly's shoulder, looking into her eyes she gently asked. "What happened when they found out?"

Kelly couldn't stop the wide grin at the compliment. As a freshman she captained the varsity team to and through Nationals. She'd go down in the history books there for sure. At least in the cheerleading history. "Thanks. The squad was really good before I even got there, but we got better. You have not idea how many times I had to take them out for..." Eyeroll was inserted at this point. "Fat free frozen yogurt to make up for my drill sergeant-ness. At least that is what they said I was like." She grinned and shrugged. They were the ones that put themselves on such strict diets, that it made her cringe. She was the one that would tempt them (individually of course) with realy pizza. But she was also the one that would make them go over each routine, section by section until they could do it on instinct.
The girl sagged a bit and then straightened up. She was just going to have to adapt to the situation. "Well what happened was we on a class trip to New York, I'm from Jersey and I had just broken up with my boyfriend. He was cheating on me the rotten little... Anyway, we were walking along, I had just finished flirting with a really cute guy by the way, and anyway, we were walking along when one of those really big robots said, 'Halt, mutant'. My friend realized he was talking to me, but I thought there had to be a mistake. I wasn't a mutant. Then the guy I was flirting with came out of nowhere and tried to help. He got knocked a little silly and when I went to check his pulse, when my book that I had just bought started to glow. The hottie woke up and told me to throw it.... It exploded! Then he got up and started throwing glowing cards, my 'friends' and teachers took off, and I passed out. I woke up here." That was pretty much the sum total of it.

Danvers couldn't help but smirk as Kelly labelled this guy in her story as the hottie. She had almost completely forgotten what it was like to be back in high school; experimenting with your feelings and emotions. There were all those highs and lows of being a teenager that...didn't really seem to disappear as you grew into your early twenties. The emotions, though more controlled, were still there deep down. At least, that was what Carol believed and had experienced over the time. "You woke up here? Did you ever contact your family?" Then again, what would she really know about trying to reach a family, for all she knew, they either despised Danvers or simply believed she was dead. "Is gymnastics where you find yourself?" A bit of a intense philosophical question, but nonetheless, Danvers could see it when she had watched Kelly dance. She was on another planet whilst she was practicing her routine.

Kelly slid up onto the big desk and swung her legs back and forth. ”Yeah turns out the hottie brought me here, he’s a student too. Really hot, sexy Cajun accent, pretty cool eyes, red and black, reddish brown hair, brown trench, great bod… you know him?” Yes the tiny blond remembered all of that from one brief meeting. She was that damn good. ”Yup, mom and dad know where I am and Professor Xavier explained to them what I am so we are all good on that front.” The girl was still processing but it didn’t seem to slow her down much either way. But then Kelly was usually pretty good at adapting or faking it until she adapted. ”Actually I dance to focus and find my center. Gymnastics is like my punching bag. I use that to relieve frustration, fear and anger. Sometimes I do both together in order to find my balance while trying to relieve the stress. I also use dancing when I need to think and figure something out. What about you?”

"Cajun...Oh, you mean Remy." She laughed as she described him in the most complimentive of ways. The funny thing was, she wasn't the only girl to think that guy was walking sex; many of the other students thought he was the epitome of sexy. "It's nice you've got the understanding of your family behind you; many of these students have been abandoned and cast out." When she went on to tell about how she found her emotional release in her sport, Carol kind of vagued out for a few moments and reminded herself of her old Air-Force days. The thrill of speeding through the air so fast it was like a dream. Snapping back to reality, she smiled. "I felt most at home when I was in the air-force. Piloting a plane exceeding speeds of Mach 3...there is no other feeling like it."

”That be the one. Hot as hell that boy. Dangerous to boot feel sorry for him though, the girls probably don’t leave him alone.” She knew what it was like to be hit on whether she wanted the attention or not. She also knew the perils of being a flirt. ”My parents are awesomely awesome like that. I’m one of the lucky ones and I know it and appreciate it.” Kelly nodded her blond head. She adored her mom and dad. She looked up as the lady zoned out on her. Well hell that took less time than usual. A smile touched her lips hearing the woman talk. ”Sounds like a blast. What made you stop?”

"What made me stop...?" She sort of questioned herself and relayed the past in her mind. It was rather humourous; she didn't choose to stop flying, rather, she was forced to stop after the freak accident. "Let's just say I wasn't the one who stopped, the plane did..." She stopped for a few moments, giving a pretty false smile that was hiding slight grief. "...in mid-air." She had forgiven herself for that, and knew that it was in the past and the past could not be changed, but tragedies had a way of sticking on your skin like a jungle leech; sucking away ever so bitterly and slowly, without you even noticing. On a side note, this poster thought that was a incredibly creative analysis of guilt. "But that's all in the past now, and as my dad always said, roll with the winds of change; don't fly against it." With a now seemingly more genuine smile, Carol began to stretch her legs.

Kelly slid off the table and gave Ms. Danver’s a hug. ”I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked I just thought it had something to do with being a mutant.” The girl really hadn’t meant to bring up any painful memories and now she felt guilty for it. She watched as Carol started to stretch and decided she needed to restretch as well. She had stopped moving and it was best to make sure nothing cramped and to keep her limbs warmed up. She wasn’t done with the routine not by a long shot. ”So, what can you do? Ability wise?” This whole people having powers thing was really starting to catch Kelly’s interest and she liked hearing what they can do.
