Skills:
- Paige is a gifted athlete, having grown up on a farm. Her physical peak is impressive, and allows for longevity endurance.
- Paige is also a talented farmer due to her upbringing, knowing how to use multiple farming tools and the knowledge of agriculture.
- Dancing is another skill Paige possesses, as she is used to that Southern lifestyle of dances and social events. She is able to do several slow and 'modern' styles, though nowhere near the levels of other, more dedicated individuals.
- Science, particularly Chemistry, is of direct interest to Paige as it relates to and benefits her powers.
Personality:
Back home, in Kentucky, Paige's teachers always referred to her as "a real go-getter" and that's a darn accurate description. When Paige aspires to something, she does anything she can to get it. Good grades, increasing control over her mutation, she achieved all of these thanks to her determination, self-confidence and perseverance. In fact, she can often be so determined to succeed that she becomes reckless, and then has to pick up the pieces after she realizes what she’s done. Luckily, because she is so high energy, she is always getting stuff done without succumbing to laziness.
Paige has a sarcastic sense of humor, which sometimes prevents people from becoming close to her, but once you have her friendship, she's as loyal as they get. She tends to befriend introverted people whom she identifies as needing a friend or a smile. She's definitely not a loud, "look at me! look at me!" type of girl who needs constant attention. She likes her friends, but she is very independent. When it comes to appearances, Paige is the least shallow person you'll meet. She rarely judges people and certainly never comments on their shortcomings.
Paige has an incredibly deep love for nature and the environment and is often distressed by the sorry state of our planet. She tries to maintain a low impact on the Earth. In addition to mutant rights, she fights for environmental justice. Don't be surprised to see her in the hallway, asking you to sign a petition to stop oil drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge. Her adventurous and inquisitive nature has turned her into a traveler. She really loves to explore new places she’s never seen before.
Overall, Paige is easy to get along with, and fun if you like an offbeat sense of humor. She'll gladly help you with your homework or be a jogging buddy. Just don't be needy or vapid because she'll try to avoid you at all costs.
Finally, Paige knows she is a "hick". She embraces it, wearing it like a badge of honor and pride. The same way she treats being a mutant.

The Mutant
Codename:
Husk
Mutant Abilities:
Technically speaking, Paige is a transitional omni-morph, but if you ask her, she’ll call it “husking,” hence her codename. This means that she can shed her outer layer of skin to reveal a new form underneath, such as a Paige made out of steel or glass. Such new forms often come with extra abilities such as super speed or super strength, depending on the material. To husk into a certain form, the material must have been something that Paige has studied in depth at the molecular level. She cannot change her shape when she husks, and if her new form is liquid based, she will still appear in a human shape. Each new form lasts for about an hour before she morphs back into her basic human form. It is possible for Paige to do multiple morphs in a short time span, but too many shifts can be painful. Any small injuries she receives while in a new form can be husked away when she reverts back to normal.
In great stress or trauma, Paige can shed without control, revealing patchwork forms. When Paige ‘husks’, she sheds her clothing as well. This has the unintended side effect of leaving her nude when she returns to her normal form. Deeper wounds cannot be healed simply by husking them away. Currently, Paige’s has greater control over her ability, meaning that she can choose the form she husks into, although the result is sometimes still random and unintentional.
Weaknesses:
- Transitional Omni-Morphing: While intimidating at first glance, Husk's ability to transform into various forms brings up the old phrase: more forms, more problems. In this case, each form has it's own weakness. For example, if Paige were to transform into steel, then intense heat would be a problem. If Paige were to turn into wood, heat again could be a problem, but also someone with super strength could break her like a twig, literally.
Husk can only transform for one hour, and into a material she knows through experience, studying, or both. Any severe injury she receives in a form remains when returning to normal, though minor ones can be "husked" away. - Experience: Being young and a rookie, though a talented one, Paige still lacks first hand experience in many areas. This is a huge disadvantage, though sometimes she may luck out due to her unorthodox and unpredictable style, and can cause a severe setback for herself or the team.
- Sentimentality: Paige has a big heart, and for a good reason. She loves her life! School, her being a mutant, family, traveling, all sorts of things. If any of these are endangered, threatened, or taken away from Paige, they may become a bargaining chip. Her love for these things, while a great strength, also makes her vulnerable to those who wish her harm.
History:
The second eldest Guthrie child, Paige Elisabeth, grew up on a farm in Kentucky with a very large and loud family. She was one of the quieter children, preferring to read books or play outside alone than in a big group. This isn't to say she resented her family. On the contrary, she loved them all very much, and enjoyed playing baseball in the fields or catching fireflies at night. It was just that she happened to be more independent than the younger ones and needed solitude. She looked up to and revered her older brother, Sam, though she was rather jealous that he was so much older and, therefore, got to do way cooler stuff than she did like stay up late or drive the tractor.
The one dark memory in Paige's childhood is the death of her father. His loss has left a hole in the family that can never be filled, only ignored and pushed to the back of the mind. Everything that she does, everything she accomplishes, is for her father.
In school she did really well, bringing home perfect report cards. Paige even joined the soccer team once she hit middle school, eager to play a sport and improve her chances of getting into college (yes, she was thinking about college admissions when she was 11 years old). She was also good at playing the dependable daughter, always helping Lucinda, her Mom, around the house and with the little ones. Needless to say, between the babysitting and studying, her social life was pretty much nil.
When Sam discovered his own mutation, Paige wasn't horrified or worried... she was inspired! She did everything she could think of to trigger her own mutation, including putting herself in dangerous situations. She jumped off the roof of the barn (into a pile of hay bales) to see if she could fly, and broke her ankle in the process. She spent lots of time with the horses, pigs and cows to see if she could possibly talk to animals. Finally, one night in a fit of frustration, she asked God to give her a mutation, saying it was all she ever wanted. There was an itch in her skin, and Paige transformed then ran home naked to show off her new ability.
What happened to her next was only logical. Paige was sent to Xavier's to join others like her at the School for the Gifted, where she has remained for nearly two years...
