Sue looked at her reflection in the bathroom mirror of the department store. What day was it, was it Friday the thirteenth it had to be, there had to be some reason some cosmic curse on her on this date that was making this one day the most vexing ones she could remember. The day had started off awful she was woken up by Ben yelling at the top of his lungs his famous now catch phrase at her brother, that always spelled trouble she could feel a slight tremor of the floor which meant Ben was running after Johnny and she could hear him goading on the older man. Getting out of bed Sue walked out of her room and out into the hallway to find them both and try and calm the situation down. She arrived just in time to see the pair wrestle "Johnny Ben please be...LOOK OUT" she screamed as they slid towards one of her fine tables but it was to late within seconds it was as good as toothpicks. It happened so fast that she didn't have time to stop them with her powers. Although the pair had said sorry over and over Sue had kept a level head but inside she was screaming. She almost felt like she was letting them off the hook and that she would have to compromise her design of their living area of the Baxter building just so that Johnny and Ben could have room to fight in.
Not wanting to be in the building, she felt that she should get up and relax with some retail therapy. Once dressed she slid her purse into her handbag grabbed her coat from the rail and moved into the lift. The doors slid shut as she pressed the ground floor button. As it made its way to the lower levels she couldn't help but lightly hum along with the tune that was being played into the small space that was until it stopped, in fact the whole lift stopped, knowing that things liked this happened she just waited it would be fixed in a moment. a few minutes later no change. Sue pressed the ground floor level button again "Come on...move" she whispered to herself as though her words would will it into movement. After fifteen minutes at last t began moving again. She breathed a sigh of relief and just told herself that her problems where little to worry about when thinking on the troubles that others around the world had.
Once on the main street she hailed a cab and gave directions to a local shopping area of New York. She always liked being driven rather than driving although she had a full license she felt she could relax and take in the comfort of the drive, well you could if you beat New York traffic. Which today seemed unmoving. Roadworks. It wasn't the drivers fault she knew that but she couldn't help but watch the meter number rise higher and higher as they hardly moved " I think I'll just get out here thank you" It was only five more blocks to the store and it was a nice day out. Handing him a twenty dollar bill she smiled and said "keep the change" as she slid out of the car,
Reed and herself had always been in some form of media limelight from their marriage to Franklin's birth, their work with the team, and so when there was no reporters around she couldn't help but smile. there wasn't one in sight and she couldn't help but believe her day was picking up. That was until she got to the store. She went to the same one that she always bought home furnishings from. So why was it this time they couldn't find a record of her address for delivery, in the end she chose not to have it delivered Ben could come down later and pick up the desk knowing that he would feel bad for having broken the original she could be one hundred percent sure he would do her this favor and she would help, after all this wasn't a punishment.
Running the cold tap in the bathroom sue took some of the hand towels from the dispenser and wetted the towel with it and rubbed the tomato sauce stain from the bottom of her jacket. It wasn't like the young man meant to bang into her, but she couldn't help but rub angrily at the stain if just to alleviate some of her frustration onto the stain and who knows maybe she would remove it. After working on it she managed to run the red stain to a pink stain. Knowing that she could use her powers to make it vanish in a flash was a tempting thought but she would have to focus on that one area without fail and she was just to drained to bother.
Walking out of the bathroom stall shopping bags in hand she moved to exit the department store only to see it was raining. How had that happened the sun was beaming when she had walked into the store, how had it turned so fast. With a sigh she knew she had no umbrella but who needed one when you could make a dome around yourself to keep you dry. Walking out to the street she could tell some people where less than impressed that she had it so easy in there eyes. but she could feel the cold just as much as they could and she had to focus on keeping the area all around her covered. Looking up and down the streets for a cab she thought she could see one and rushed to the kerb to flag it down only to feel her heal snap causing her focus to be lost and the shield along with it.
Sue couldn't help but laugh to herself this was ridiculous, had she done something wrong that karma was paying her back for she tried to think of anyone she had been rude to but no one sprung to mind. Seeing an oncoming car coming and a giant puddle near her Sue at once put a shield in front of herself to block the water, which it did nicely. If only she had seen the young boy on the bike that raced through a puddle on the sidewalk. She hadn't seen him but she felt the spray of water hit the back of her legs and lower back. This just wasn't her day.
