The Mutant
Codename: Ms. Marvel
Mutant Abilities:
Danvers' main power is the ability to create/manipulate/absorb energy and project it in a photonic form. This ranges from small blasts to even larger scale effects such as shields, and explosions. Danvers' also gained the knolwedge to use her energy manipulation to project herself in the air for a period of time. This flight isn't a natural power, moreso a ability.
As for the actual blasts she fires, the impact depends on the amount of energy that is placed into the projectile; naturally. They have a range of purposes, such as immobilising, paralysing, exploding and knocking victims unconcious. The effects of the blasts tend not to be too large scale, and they will wear off after a small amount of time. Carol is still training to utilise her gifts to the fullest.
Weaknesses:
- She lacks a constant source of energy, as the energy she creates is taken directly from her stamina. Therefore, unless she has something to absorb energy from, she will eventually fade into unconsciousness
- As her flying is not a natural ability, it requires energy ouput, she can only fly for limited distances, speed and time. She will become docile if she is airborne for too long.
- The effects of her blasts on victims is only short term. Therefore someone with high endurance (eg. Juggernaut/Collosus) would be able to recover rather quickly.
- Her loving nature can be taken advantage of. She will always put the safety of others before herself.
History:
Carol Danvers had a relatively easy upbringing. Her parents were quite well off and therefore could afford to give her the luxuries of school and a fairly stable lifestyle. As a child, she showed much promise in the areas of geography, mechanics and gymnastics. Obviously these traits are incredibly common in forms of military careers, and it is no surprise that Carol had the dream of protecting her country in the Air Force. Hastily, and quite efficiently, she finished school and moved quickly onto a Aviation course. She pursued her dreams of flying and quickly ascended to the top of the honor's list at the university. Graduating fully, Carol was ready to follow her dreams of flying.
Wishing to show her older brother, Steve, her ability with flying. They hired a plane and went flying together. Steve was the pride of the family, being the eldest and a incredibly prestigeous army lieutennant. Carol always wished to prove herself in the eyes of her brother. Yet, something happened. The plane steadily began to lose power, much to the confusion of Carol. Hands on the wheel (or whatever the pad is named), they began to glow with yellow energy. The energy grew and grew, whilst the plane lost power rapidly. Steve began to yell and roar at her, shocked at what she was, and that she was going to kill the both of them.
Steve quickly got up, and began to wrench Carol out of the cockpit. Carol screamed, not knowing what she should do. She was wrenched out of her seat, but then her hands suddenly felt like they were on fire. The heat spread to her entire body before she literally exploded with energy. The explosion was the last straw for the plane, it plumetted to the ground. Steve was most likely unconcious or dead from the energy blast, but Carol was still concious. She merely screamed to her brother, tears in her eyes as she screamed her apologies over and over.
The plane crashed into the ground in a fireball, but something happened inside. Somehow, Carol had made some form of a photonic energy shield. Most likely from the adrenaline rush and basic instinct. The plane was a crumpled ravaged mess, and Steve's body was crushed and burned beneath the rubble. Carol's body was damaged, and she was fading into unconcious, but she instinctively crawled away from the fire. A farmer happened to be in the vicinity, and quickly came to the aid of the injured young woman.
As she lay in hospital, her family came to visit her. She was not greeted with a warm reception. Instead of love and satisfaction that she had not perished in the 'accident', she was greeted to her family's malice and blame. They accused her of being the one that killed Steven, and ruining the family's pride and joy. Shattered, Carol was then kicked out of home and family for that matter. Laying in a hospital bed, she could only think about her dreams and how they had perished in the span of 5 minutes.
Carol continued to recover, but her mind and spirit would not. She was distraught over what had happened, and she still could not believe what was happening to her. There were a couple of incidents in the hospital of her mutant genetics, but they were only minor; just buildups of energy in her palms, creating a light in the dark room of the hospital. One fateful day, a man in a wheelchair came to visit her. His name was Charles, and he connected to her remarkeably well. She was shocked the most when he spoke to her telepathically, and then the pieces all began to fall together. She was what they call a mutant, a myth that she had heard about, but never actually believed in.
She was offered solace in Charles' school. Once out of hospital, she instinctively made her way to this seemingly innocent building. Reaching the school, she was naturally taken in, where she would learn to control her energy powers. Here she took on the alias of Ms. Marvel. Marvel was the name of her first plane she ever flew. She also became the coach of the school's gymnastics team, as her athletic ability was above human standard.
