Maya knew exactly what Cessily was talking about. The need for different things with different emotions. When she was in NYC she never danced, but worked out in the gym punching and kicking whatever she could. It was easier to let out her frustration and anger on a punching bag than to be graceful and sorry for herself while dancing.
"Awesome. You are the only one who might know a thing or two about dance before my class."she smiled. Maya couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't talked to Cessily before hand. They both shared a love for fighting and dancing. Maybe it was because Cessily didn't socialize with the other students let alone a teacher. The only friend she could think Merc had was Keller.

Cessily swung her legs back and forth. Alright, so maybe Maya wasn't so bad. Honestly, she didn't think most of the girls were all that bad. But like with the guys she kept her distance, it saved her heart in the long run. Not to mention her emotions. At least that's what she tells herself, sometimes she doesn't always believe it.
"Well, if you need help, I'll be more than happy to. Kind of be a TA or something, especially for the beginner class." She sipped her water and held one out to Maya. She always brought extras. Personally, Cessily didn't need it, but she never knew who she might run into down here and often they forget it. Funny, the girl who didn't need it anymore was the one who never worked out without it.

Maya stopped moving to think about Cessily's offer. That would be a big help to her. Maya wouldn't mind splitting the work up between the two of them- at least the younger ones. She'd have to ask Miss Frost about that one, but it sounded more than feasible. Most of the other teachers had assistants from the older students. Being that Maya was nearly the same age as Cessily made it even more of a no brainer for Miss Frost to set up.
"Sure I don't see why not. Emma with have to okay it though. Not trying to get on her bad side by putting you to work." she said rubbing her wrists. Emma Frost, the woman who brought Emma into her mutant life was someone that Echo respected. All though she didn't agree completely with everything the white queen had to say, Maya still was in debt to her.

Cessily bobbed her head as Burned started to play. Her eyes closed and she moved with the music. She'd labelled it her song the very first time she'd heard it, and she listened to every day, ever since. She opened one eye when Echo started to talk. The young woman nodded her head. "I don't see why she'd have a problem with it. But I can't blame you for not wanting to make her upset." At least Cessi was trying, right? That counted for something, didn't it?

Maya watched as Cessily closed her eyes and moved to some music unheard by her. It was always awkward for her when others listened to music. She wasn't sure when it stopped or why they sometimes zoned out and lost themselves in the music. Maya had never been able to hear her piano playing, but she could feel the delicate vibrations of grand piano on her finger tips.
She nodded when Mercury agreed with her about talking to Miss Frost. This was the longest conversation Maya had ever shared with Cessily. She was nice and wasn't running away from Echo. It was hard to hold a conversation with one unwilling and a deaf girl.
"So what are you studying? Just dance or something else?"

"If it will help, I'll go with you to talk to her. I mean I do odd jobs around the academy for money anyway. Maybe this could go towards my grade?" She'd probably sign up for the dance class since it's something she enjoyed doing anyway. Since Maya was actually more about ballet, maybe Cessily could help with the hip hop.
Her head tilted as Maya asked her what else she was studying. "As of right now? Just general studies. I don't really know what I want to do. I mean, I can't really go out into corporate America. You know? I just have to figure out something that allows me to be hidden away in a room, and hopefully in a mutant friendly business." She shrugged and sips her water. Always she acts like it's not a big deal, but it kind of was to her. Her physiology has stunted her in a lot of ways. The majority of it was psychological. Or better put, her own doing.

"I'm sure that you'll get some sort of pay for helping out." Maya said while giving the dummy a quick side kick. Fighting to her was just like dance, you had to learn the moves and combine them to make something out of it. It also helped her powers that Maya was already peak physical condition, being an olympic level athlete.
Maya watched Cessily explain that she had no idea what she wanted to do. Personally Maya wanted to travel the world, experience things outside of the city and the Academy. However to do that she needed money. She was a very independent woman, sometimes - ironically- it was her weakness (more so than her hearing). "I know what you mean. The public still treats deaf people like their animals."she joked, yet it was true. She'd just gotten a funny look at the mall the other day for not responding to someone who was talking to her from behind. Maya couldn't see him so she didn't stop.

"Pay would be awesome, but I'd be happy with just the grade too. So, do you need or want me to come with you to talk to her?" Her question hadn't been addressed so she figured she'd ask again, just to be sure. Maybe Maya hadn't seen it. It was possible. The idea of getting paid was something she really liked, but she'd understand if Ms. Frost wouldn't go for it.
Cessily wondered if it was bad that she didn't know what to do with her life. Before she had gone all shiny and metallic she knew what she wanted to do. "It wouldn't be so bad if I could turn the look on and off, you know? But even covered up, there's still my face. The whole glinting in the sunlight is kind of a tip off."

Maya looked at her as she asked her question. They way her face moved made it seem like she already asked it before. "Oh sorry. No I got it. I'll let you know what she says as soon as I talk to her." she smiled. Maya was embarrassed whenever she missed something that someone said. It wasn't that she intended to ignore her, it was just she didn't catch it. Honest mistake.
"Of course, like Frost has with her diamond skin. Not quite sure how she does that, but the must be some sort of mental trigger." Echo mused. She found it fascinating to know about the other powers mutants possessed. She knew that most mutants had supernatural abilities like TK or mind reading, but a physical change to their bodies was - in her mind- completely amazing.
"But the you might be mistaken by some Twihards as a vampire" she giggled.

It was as Cessily thought, Maya just hadn't caught the question the first time around. The younger girl nodded. "Alright. Just wanted to make sure. Didn't hurt to throw it out there, right?" She flashed the other woman a quick grin and stretched. She rolled her neck and stretched her arms over her head. So, Maya wasn't as bad as she had initially thought, at least from what she could tell.
The shimmering woman just kind of shrugged a bit. "The only thing I retained from my original form was my hair. They think I might be able to change color eventually, but we haven't figured out how. I can't go back from what I can tell." Cessily shrugged it off in dismissal. At Maya's last comment her eyes widened. "Take that back!" She let out a mock gasp and put her hands on her hips.

"Exactly." she agreed with the younger mutant. Maya had always liked to do things by herself, it was one of the stereotypes of deaf people that she made sure she wasn't apart of - being dependent of other people. But Echo knew when she needed an extra hand. She was proud, but she didn't let it blind her.
The fighter put her arm in front of her and stretched her shoulder then the other. Her muscles were tight from working out for three straight hours the day before. Maya looked at her as Cess explained how her hair was still in its natural state. She nodded and widened her eyes as she watched her reaction to Maya's little joke.
"Take it back? Oh alright. You're not nearly as douchey as that PMSing vampire." Echo laughed.

It wasn't that Cessily liked being independent, there were just somethings she couldn't bring herself to do. However, if she were in extremely dire need, she'd hit her best friend up for money. But Julian supplying her an allowance wasn't something she'd ever be able to live with. The silver skinned woman didn't really like being alone, or in her case lonely. Being so has forced her to become a bit more independent than she was comfortable with. But honestly, what man in their right mind would want her? She was going to have to learn to make her way in this world, by herself, and she understood that. Her head nodded in response to the 'exactly' and she sipped her water again.
"Seriously, I just wanna smack them all upside the head. I mean really. I can't even imagine. I just... just corrupts every fantasy there is about vampires and werewolves." Even though she doesn't actually breathe, by the time she was done, Cessily was all huffy and her chest was rising and falling as if she were breathing hard. Was it ever mentioned that she has an affinity towards vampires and despises how they've been poptarted.....

She tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear as Cessily huffed at the thought. There were just somethings that were sacred in the literary world. Dracula and Interview with a Vampire were the classic vampire books. Maya had read a lot when she was little. The scary ones were her favorites. Maya never watched or read the Twilight series. The entire concept about forbidden love and their impending doom was way to dramatic for her. Plus what vampire couldn't drink from the same human more than ones without killing or turning them into vampires? Pansy ones that is.
"So I take it that you aren't a fan?" she asked. " I totally agree. Since when do vampires have mutant powers? Not to make fun, but Miss Frost has a lot in common with the brooding one." she chuckled.

There were somethings, real or not, that you just didn't mess with, vampires were one of them. "But to be fair, I don't really care much for Shakespeare, so the Romeo and Juliet thing doesn't work for me either. But seriously, he could feed off her and not turn her. Everyone knows that there has to be an exchange of a good amount of blood for there to be a turning." She thought Interview with a Vampire was an alright book. She'd read it again if she got bored.
"Is Ms. Frost a girl's best friend?" She flashed a quick grin and giggled a bit. "Nah, Ms. Frost has been really good to me. She took me in when my parents couldn't deal, and she lets me work here doing odd jobs for cash. So, yeah, she's pretty cool. But I get what you mean. Although honestly, I don't think Edward would last five seconds here." She'd love to get her hands on that pasty ass little white vampire.

Maya laughed at the idea of having Edward in the Academy. Firstly he'd get made fun of by Julian and the other boys for being into classical music and then they'd move onto his lack of conquests. Men were very different now than they were a hundred years ago. Sometimes Echo thought she lived in the wrong era, but in those days, women and guns didn't mix well.
"Oh god, I don't think I could see any of them being able to handle it here. We are probably more bad ass than them. And we don't have fangs." she said with a smile. Maya watched as Cessily giggled at her own joke. There wasn't one memory of Cess laughing this much in Maya's mind. It was nice to see that this girl was able to laugh and loosen up.
"I think she's her own best friend. But I agree with you. Emma has been more than kind towards me. I don't understand the hostility between us and the X men. Even if they are whiney kids, they aren't all bad." she said.
