It felt good to be back in Mass Academy. Seeing some of the old faces and reconnecting with his friends. Davis was most excited about seeing Jubilee the most though. Five long years couldn't stop the way he felt about the girl. Things were a bit awkward between the two of them, but they were still good friends. There were a few people at the school that he'd never seen before and some that were once at the other school. Things were different, but cool. He'd actually been thinking about just going out on his own, much less drama and conflict that way.
Currently Davis found himself in the rec room of the school relaxing. A game of pool was always fun and helped to clear his mind during those annoying times. He'd probably go out and skate the city after he was done here. Davis lined up a shot, bent low, and then struck the ball. It rolled and rolled until it collided with the 7 knocking it into a corner pocket. ”Sweet.” Chalking up the cue, he got ready for another shot.

Maya wasn't sure how she felt about being a teacher in a school where she used to go. It was nice to be on the top of the food chain, but did she really have any power over some of the stronger mutants? Not really, but it would all work out in the end. She did teach dance class, a mostly female study. It was amazing to teach what she had a passion for. However she did enjoy kicking ass. Not everything in life was about beauty.
The young teacher pulled her long hair into a messy bun as she walked down the halls. Her feet automatically pulled her to the place she felt relaxed, the Rec Room. Maya had just gotten out of a practice and wore black leggings and a teal tank top with ballet slippers. Not every professional, but they were the most comfortable to dance in.
When she reached the open door to the Rec Room she wasn't expecting to see someone in there. Most of the other classes were in session and students shouldn't be in here. Maya quirked her eye brow as she quietly walked into the room. It looked like he was playing pool. This guy was clearly not a student, he looked too mature. But then again it was harder to tell ages when she was only a few years older than her students.
"Hello there" she said tentatively. From her angle, she couldn't quite see his face.

Another ball another pocket! Woo Davis was good at this game. They didn't have pool back on his second home planet, hell they didn't have a lot of things that he liked. But he did introduce some of the locals to the things that he loved, skateboarding and surfing. He wondered if those guys were still doing it up there. Just as he was about to take another shot, he felt a familiar presence enter the area. A smile formed on his face as he recognized just who the person was. "G'day Maya." He greeted her without having to turn to look at her face.
After taking the shot, he looked back over his shoulder at her. "Good to see you again babe." Man, did all the women grow up and.... develop things? He chuckled to himself at that thought.

Maya crossed her arms when she say the words that came out of Davis's mouth. She had a small smirk on her face as she quickly recognized who it was. Of course she'd run into Davis in here. Maya was surprised that she never actually hung around him when they were in school. It might have been the two year gap or that she was busy with her own boyfriend. Boys were immature at that age. If she knew that she'd call Davis mature in the past, she's say 'dream on'. But it did look like five years made him more... worldly.
The woman walked over to the side of the pool table, just so she could see the words coming out of his lips. She didn't see his first greeting because his back was towards her. Now she could see his face in a more flattering angle which made it easier for her to communicate with him, a lot easier. "Davis, nice to see you too. Mind if I join you?" she asked while pulling a pool stick from the wall to the other side of her.

Man it really had been a long time seeing as how he almost forgot that she was deaf. But it never really seemed like she was back in the day. She was always on top of conversations and responded like deafness never existed. The girl could read lips like no other. "Not at all, be me guest." He motioned to the table as if saying "it's all yours." Davis took a step back to look at the table and what was left to sink. With a smile, he began to retrieve all the balls from the pockets and rack them up for a game against is friend. "So Maya, how's life been treating ya?"

Maya smiled at Davis as he welcomed her into the game. He was always nice when it came to beautiful women or a friendly face. Mostly it was reserved for women. Maya put one side of the pole on the ground and gently leaned on it as Davis reset the table.
"Well I'm teaching dance here, hence the spandex and tank. Oh and the ballet slippers." she shrugged while looking down at her outfit. "What about you? Anything new?" she asked while moving around the table.

Davis did have a soft spot when it came to women. That was something that hadn't changed over the years. He looked over the table then at her as the game was now ready to be played. "You're teaching dance now huh? That suits you perfectly babe." Davis let out a breath when he thought about what he was going to be doing now. He really didn't have any idea. "Not really. Me powers have developed pretty well so, that's about it. I'm trying to decide on what the heck I wanna do now that I'm back on Earth." He wondered what class he could teach if he stayed on as a teacher. That would be amusing.

Echo smiled as he complimented her choice in profession. Honestly Maya had not a clue what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She remembered when she thought only about becoming a famous dancer or pianist. It was the cliche dream almost everyone shared at her old Academy. If someone had told her five years ago that she'd be teaching dance in a school that also taught their students how to fight and deal with the world as mutants, she'd find it impossible.
"Yeah, its actually something I really enjoy." she replied while looking back at the perfectly aligned triangle of billiard balls. Maya gestured to the white cue ball for him to break it. Little did he know, she was a shark when it came to this particular game. It was all about skill and that was an area of expertise for Echo. It would be very unfair if Davis wasn't a good player. Maya had watched those professional pool games one time while waiting in the hospital lobby.
"I'm sure you'll find something that you could do. I hear pro skateboarders make a shit load of money. But then again they might have a separate division for mutants." she suggested then muttered.

Davis gave the pool stick a little twirl as he walked over to line up the perfect shot. Leaning over the table, he set up the stick with the cue ball before pulling back and striking it. The ball rolled across the table until it collided with the others dispersing them in all directions. He managed to sink about three balls, two solids and a stripe. "Ha, where'd you hear that one? Skateboarders have money, but it all depends on who you're sponsored by. And I wouldn't be skating for the money. I do it for the love of the art, babe. Reason some skaters make so much money is because they skate contests all the damn time. That ain't me style. But you did make me think of a possible career in it. Thanks love."

"No problem" she said before she looked at what Davis had sunk. Two solids and a stripe. Looks like she was solids this time around. Personally she preferred the stripes, but that wouldn't deter her from playing her best. She leant on the side of the pool table and waited for Davis to make another move. Maya didn't mind waiting for him to miss a mark, once she got her turn it would even up.
"So have you seen Jubilee?" she asked softly. It was no secret that Jubes and Davis had had a little fun before the world sank deeper into hell than it already was. Maya wished that she hadn't run away from her ex. If she had maybe they'd still be together, but she wasn't going to dwell on a past that was far from where she was now. Figuratively of course.

It was inevitable that Jubilee would be brought up during their little discussion. Back in the day, the two them were pretty much inseparable. They loved each other for a long time and eventually started dating which was the happiest day of his young life. But something happened that put a rift in their relationship. He still couldn't place exactly what it was or why, but the past was the past. Davis stilled loved the girl with all his heart, he just didn't know if she still felt the same way about him. ”Yea I saw her when I first got back. We didn't speak much though and I haven't ran across her since.” Davis took his second shot, hit the targeted ball, but didn't sink it. Thoughts of Jubilee must have thrown him off of his game for a moment.

Maya sort of knew the feelings that went along with seeing an ex. However Maya hadn't met Chance here yet. She'd been there a week and hadn't even seen him wandering the halls. Emma Frost told her that he's still be here. Part of Echo didn't want to come back to the Academy because of Chance. What she did to him was horrible, but then she wanted to make it right. She needed to make it right.
"Tell me about it." she said while bending over the table to shoot the white cue ball at the purple solid ball. With perfect accuracy she pocketed the purple ball into the left corner pocket. Maya was definitely going to spend some more down time in the Rec room. For some reason she didn't play when she was a student here.
"I gotta say Davis, I thought you would be better than this." she joked while hitting the red ball into another pocket. Maya went for the blue one, but missed by only a millimeter. She would have hit the striped one if she went for it. She wouldn't score one for the opposing side. Maya was very competitive.

"Hehe, well there weren't any pool tables on Chandilar to practice me game. So I got an excuse for the rustiness," he chuckled. Davis lined up his shot for the left corner pocket. He exhaled a slow breath and then struck the ball, pocketing it with success. "You know, I almost didn't come back." The Shi'ar may have been a bit of an aggressive race, but they were nowhere near as bad as the humans. They conquered to bring other worlds into their great nation to become one. Humans conquered only out of greed. Being on Chandilar was almost living in a utopia. He didn't have to worry about earthly things like relationships and crime and being accepted. And being of royal blood meant that he could pretty much do as he saw fit.
But just because he could do something didn't mean he would. Davis took another shot, pocketing the next ball as well. If it were not for Earth being in such horrible shape, he probably wouldn't have come back. The place needed all the help it could get to set things right. And here he was... playing pool. What kind of crap was that. Davis shook his head at that thought.

Maya nodded, she wasn't quite familiar with the other worlds that existed for them but she knew they existed. It was complicated and sometimes hurt her head to think about the other things in the world besides ultimate mutants. She watched carefully as he pocketed two of the balls.
"Really? I was the same way, but there was just something about it here. I needed to come back before I start anything else." she said.

"Heh, I know exactly what you mean, babe. No matter what this group has been through, something always draws ya back in. Tie up loose ends and all that hoopla." Davis took another shot, but this time lady skill wasn't in his back pocket. The ball ricochet of the edge of the pocket and rolled back to the center of the table. "Ah biscuits." He picked up the chalk and polished off the tip of the pool stick. Davis chuckled a little as he thought about a couple of things, most of them involving his old, immature antics as a teen. "Hey, remember that time when I "accidentally" warped into the gerls' shower room?" Heh, he'd "accidentally" done that about a dozen times before.
