Cessily was a bit nervous. She was dressed in pants, a long sleeved shirt, a hat pulled low over her face and boots. She looked in the mirror and hoped it was enough to cover good enough to not be noticed. She was about to do something that she hadn't done in a long time. The silvery skinned girl was going to go out into Boston and go shopping. She'd made some money by doing things around the school and she was thinking of some new clothes.
After letting out a 'breath', she grabbed her purse and headed out of the Academy. Carefully she made her way until she found a bus stop and waited. When the bus arrived she paid the fair and found a seat in the back. The girl slid her earbuds in her ears and listened to music as she watched out the window. Her hands were covered in leather gloves and one hand rested on the window.
When they got to her stop, she hopped off and headed into the first store she came across. There was a hope that she would be able to spend the day out and about. It was easier to feel lonely when one had the intention of being alone. Her eyes traveled around the store as she checked out the racks. The staff kept their eye on her, apparently she looked like someone who would steal something. Hurt slashed through her and she wrapped her arms around herself. Her head down she exited the store and tried to find another one.

Maya looked around the sea of clothing racks and grumbled. How was she supposed to find something suitable for a theme 80s night at the club. As a bartender, everyone saw what she was wearing so it had to be good. Maya wasn't sure what sort of look she was going for, but it had to be hot. She could go with a corset top, mens slacks and overalls. That was very Vogue ala Madonna of her. Yes that was what she would look for.
The woman rummaged around the shelves and racks for a bright corset, but they were all covers in lace and pastel colors. Maya wrinkled her nose as she waded through the mass of pink and white. The woman let out a frustrate moan as she looked up from the clothing. To her surprise, Maya saw Cessily. She tilted her head and pressed her teeth into the corner of her lip. Maya noticed that Cessily was trying so hard not to be noticed, but to her it just made her stick out even more.
Maya Lopez walked over to Cessily, adjusting the strap on her purse on her shoulder. Today Maya wore a black tank dress and combat boots. It was all very rocker like for her, but she never cared what people thought about her. It was the benefit of not being able to hear the little whispers they shared between them. However Cessily was leaving the store. Maya had to speed walk just to keep up with her. "Cessily, hey wait.' she said as she neared her fellow teammate. They were outside on the sidewalk. "What are you up too?" she asked with a bright smile as she stood next to her.

The girl turned when she heard her name, and a slight wave was given to Maya. "I was thinking about shopping, but...." She shrugged a bit. I had stung that they looked at her like that, and she'd worked hard to get the money to shop. Now she was having doubts about it. Maybe she should just get one of those prepaid cards and shop online.
"What about you? What are you up to?" Her hands slid in her pockets and she rocked back on her heels. It was one thing to talk to someone at school, especially when they started off talking about training. But out here, she wasn't sure how much they had in common. Although she had to admit, it would be nice to have a friend that was a girl. As much as she adored Julian, there were somethings she just couldn't talk to him about, especially if it concerned a boy.

Maya looked at Cessily with a concerned look. She had ben having doubts about shopping? Maya knew what it was like to be uncomfortable in public settings. When she was younger none of the other kids liked her, she was the deaf girl they though was weird and their parents pitied. The deaf mutant knew that she couldn't compare her disability to Cessily's but it was something.
"Ah. Well they didn't have anything good in that store anyways." she waved off the fancy boutique. Maya thought she'd find her 80s wear in a vintage shop or somewhere else. "I'm looking for some 80s outfit. Its a theme night tomorrow and I've been putting it off" she said while rolling her eyes. However finding something ridiculous to wear would be more fun with someone else.

The silver skinned mutant looked at Maya and just kind of shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. That was a lie, to her it was a big deal, but she had gotten used to it. Maya was the first person, aside for Julian and Jamie that she had even come close to making friends with, in the time that she'd been at the academy. Even the place that was supposed to be home, she felt like an outsider. But that was her problem.
"They didn't? There looked like some pretty stuff. This sucks, I saved up for six months for this shopping trip." Six months of scrubbing toilets, floors, windows and walls. Her head tilted when she said that she had to get an 80s outfit. "Well that's easy enough, though you might have to do a little alterations. You have a full out tutu that you aren't using? Get that, cover it with maybe denim and leave the bottom part sticking out all frilly like. If you can't find legwarmers, then get a bright pair of socks and cut the feet off of them. When it comes to the top, you need to find like a bustier or corset style top. Then its bangle bracelets an d various necklaces. Also some of that colored hair spray for streaks. Tease the hair, and you're good to go." She nodded her head and grinned. She loved the 80s songs and musicals.

Maya Lopez noticed Cessily shrugged apathetic to whether Maya chose to stay and shop with her or leave. The dark haired woman wasn't sure if she should leave Cess alone, but decided that the other woman was just shy. Even if it wasn't, Maya would like the company. She'd been feeling lonely lately. Five years of being on her own caught up to her once she saw what she'd missed out on. With Chance back, Maya tried to stay out of the mansion as much as possible. With her two outside jobs, it was easier. Shopping trips like this one proved to be more than an errand.
"I actually do have a spare tutu. Honestly I don' t know much about 80s fashion. I'm not much of a fashionista from any era. Thanks for the tip. " she smiled brightly. "All I'd have to buy then is a corset cause I have old jeans and leg warmers. Oh and I'd need some bangles." she said while making a mental list in her mind.
"If you wanted, I could tag along with you? That way we can both look for clothing and get a second opinion about stuff. Like if I try on a top that makes me look too much like a hooker." Maya added with a hopeful tone. Cessily hadn't actually agreed to have Maya join in on her shopping trip. It would be rude to just follow Cess around when Maya wasn't wanted.

Cessily gave a small smile and an embarrassed shrug. "I'm fascinated with the music, movies, and even fashion back then. People always claim it was the worst era for fashion, yet, can't help but dress up like it. You know? So it's kind of fascinating, at least to me. I mean the 80s introduced the music video, and the late 90s to today, kind of screwed it all up." She really wasn't impressed with the music videos of today and wondered when Mtv became HHtv and when VH1 became reality central. "You know how many people got their start on VH1? As either vjays or comedians?"
When Maya basically asked to hang out with her, Cess perked up a bit. "S.. sure. Yeah. I'd like that. Then we can make sure that neither of us buys something stupid." She nodded and grinned as some of her original excitement came back.

Maya never watched TV when she was younger. It was boring for her to just watch the figured on television with out noise. That was well before she learned about her ability and how to lip read. Plus most television needed sound to make it even interesting, MTV especially.
"Ya know, I never watched much TV. I like movies on occasions, but just sitting down to watch a show or a music video hasn't appealed to me. I like youtube, mostly for the how to tutorials, but thats about it." she said. "But then that makes you the expert on my outfit."
Maya was glad when Cessily bassically said she'd enjoy spending time shopping with her. The woman already liked Cessily, she was different than the others- something Maya knew a little bit about. She couldn't understand why they hadn't been friends before, the only reason she could think of was the mutual dislike between her and Maya's ex.

Cessily actually spent quite a bit of time alone. She might hang out with Julia or Jamie every so often, but for the most part, she kept to herself. Sure she could leg over her head, but that kind of lost the appeal when she didn't jiggle doing it. Eventually, she'd get over feeling like such an outcast, but it hadn't happened yet. She hoped it happened soon though, this isolation thing was driving her nuts.
"It's understandable. I actually watch with the subtitles and stuff, just to make sure I don't miss anything." When Maya called her an expert, the silver skinned girl just kind of shrugged. "Not really an expert, just more of a fan." Honestly, she didn't see what was wrong with the style of the 80s. It was out there and really really made you express your individuality. Sure you could have dressed like everyone else, but with those fashions, not everyone could really dress the exact same.
