The blond danced into the pool area, it was late at night and she had the pool to herself. The girl had been stuck in a wheelchair for nearly two years, before she got her ability to walk back. She had over extended her powers and it was a massive side effect to the whole thing. Now, even in the face of all the turmoil, she danced any chance she got.
When she got to the pool she stopped and a small smile tugged her lips. This was the where she had her first, unofficial date with her boyfriend, Bobby Drake. That was five years ago. Oh god she giggled at how badly she pursued him. Kelly slipped out of her tank top and shorts and was in an ice blue bikini. Once done she sat at the edge of the pool and stuck her feet in. Her mind wondered off as she remembered that night. It was also the night of their first kiss.
There was a squeak of surprise when he scooped her up. Her arms automatically went around his neck and she looked him in the eyes. ”OMG this is friggin’ awesome.” Kelly was laughing and having a blast. She almost pouted when he set her down. She looked up into his eyes again. ”Remember when I said I might kiss you?” Slides her arms around his neck and pulls herself up on the tips of her ice skates. ”Well I’m going to kiss you now.” Kelly kissed him full on the lips and pressed herself against him not even caring about the cold.
The ice slide had been an interesting impulse for a test. If she couldn’t handle it, she couldn’t handle him. Simple. She could and Bobby almost wanted to curse under his breath initially until he really listened to the sound that sang out. He liked hearing her laugh. Why couldn’t she have come along like a year ago? Before all of this. For a moment he looked down at her; still trying to find some sort of answer to the riddle that this night had held hostage within her gaze. Before he could protest or event crack a joke, her lips touched his and again he relied on the warmth to his mouth and the simple memory of a kiss to tell him what was going on. This time, though, there was no hesitance. He kissed her back while his arms wrapped around her waist. His frosted eyelids shut slowly in their kiss. There were no words. No jokes, no bitter remarks. Nothing.
Another smile tugged her lips as she splashed her feet in the water. They'd had some tough times, he'd tried so hard to get prove she would bail on him, and then she lost her legs, and he's just getting in control of his ice form. But they were still going strong, five years later. Finally, she slid into the water and floated on her back. As bad as things are out there in the world, she couldn't complain, she was with the one she loved.

Bobby finished going through his lesson plan. Ugh. He’d become one of them. Well, in all reality, it was only a matter of time before Bobby Drake took on some sort of family business and with the Institute being the only family he had anymore… apparently it meant that he would be working as a teacher at the school. He would begrudge to say that he actually liked it though. He did. He truly enjoyed helping the school a lot more than he let on. His hands came to his temples. When did I become such a nerd? he asked himself as he made his way out of his classroom and to the room he and Kelly shared.
It was weird. He wasn’t sure if he would have believed it if someone told him five years ago that he would finally thaw out of his ice form and have a steady girlfriend that actually liked him. Hell, he would have punched someone for telling him that. But, here he was, walking into their room and flipping on the lights. His blue gaze scanned the room. Hm. She wasn’t there. He rolled his neck a bit as he trailed his hand along the dresser as he pulled out a pair of basketball shorts and a sweatshirt. He changed, glancing around again before finding the window and looking outside to the pool where he saw the familiar blond. A smile crept up his features, remembering when he’d first walked in on her dancing. God he had been such an asshole to her. Even when he wanted to like her, a part of him wouldn’t let it happen back then. He’d had his doubts about them, but now it just seemed to all fade out as he remembered what had happened between them. He’d finally shifted out of his ice form after a year or so of them being together and he’d stuck by her when she’d been paralyzed. There’d been bumps and probably a lot of self sabotage on his end, but there was just something about the blond that made Bobby Drake settle down a bit and refocused himself.
He made his way downstairs and out to the grounds before finding the pool. Their first date had been here. Well, their first un-date or whatever Bobby had considered it back then. His bare feet felt the grass beneath them and he actually found himself appreciating that feeling. He rubbed the back of his neck as he watched Kelly slip into the water. He had a few questions about them lingering in the back of his mind, but he focused on right now. He crouched down next to the side of the pool and dipped a finger into the water, making the temperature drop enough to get her attention. “Hey stranger,” he said with a grin.

As the blond floated there, her eyes closed, she couldn't help but remember the last few years. She remembered the first time she saw Bobby, all iced up with a chip on his shoulder. He felt weird because he'd walked in on her dancing. She had liked the fact that he was watching her, as odd as that was. There had been something about him and she knew then and there she would do whatever it took to get him. She'd seen the man he was, not the on he portrayed to the rest of the world. Lord did he try to fight her. He did everything he could to push her away but she wouldn't let him. After a bit she'd been worried he'd only caved to get her to stop, but by then he'd fallen for her so it all worked out.
Then she over extended her powers and ended up in the chair. She knew then what he was going through. Their roles were reversed and she was the one that, kind of tried to push him away. But he stuck to it as tenaciously as she had and now she was out of the chair and he was defrosted. Five years they've been together and it was one of the most awesome things in her life. She had thought he was good looking in his ice form, but damn she hadn't expected him to look like that out of it. She still couldn't get over it and sometimes found herself sighing like a school girl when she watched him. Kelly had learned a long time ago, not to take anything for granted and Bobby was the one thing she'd never take for granted.
Kelly yelped when the water went cold and she knew he was there. Quickly she swam over to him and pulled herself out. ”Hey, Handsome. I've missed you.” She leaned over and kissed his cheek. ”How are you doing? Anything exciting going on?” Other than the crap that's been going on the last few years. She still couldn't believe that not only was she dating him, but they were living together too. She was so happy and content that, unlike most girls, she wasn't even thinking marriage. Not that she'd tell him 'no', but she liked them as them, with or without it. Besides, she figured he'd ask if he was ever ready and she'd pushed and bulldozed him enough in their time together.

Really, if someone were to look back on the two blondes it was sometimes hard for Bobby to think on why he hadn’t asked a certain question sooner. Well… he knew. He had fought being affectionate towards anyone kicking and screaming whilst in his ice form. Kelly had somewhat been the same way when she had been confined to a wheelchair. It had put a damper in things, but they had at least had the chance to be in one-another’s place. Really Bobby wouldn’t have wished that on anyone and it had killed him to see Kelly feel anything like the way he had when he had been stuck in his ice form. They’d worked through it though, which was more than what Bobby ever thought possible considering most had given up on him and he just simply would respond in kind. So it had all been different and it was still a bit to adjust to when Bobby really thought about it.
Someone actually cared about him and actually stuck around. It brought a grin to his expressions as he’d watched her float while he’d approved. God damn he loved her. It was weird. While he had been with her roughly five years, there were still times where Kelly Wilson made Bobby Drake absolutely nervous as all get-out and he loved it. Even now when she would pull herself out of the pool and he rocked back a bit to sit next to her. A smile instantly plastered on his face as he looked over at her with his pale blue gaze. “Missed you too,” he said as he kissed her temple. “I’m okay. Grading papers so there’s really nothing thrilling on that end. You?” He slipped an arm around her waist, not at all bothered by the fact that she was still wet from the pool. He leaned in and kissed her shoulder, savoring that contact and the fact that not only could he feel it, but that it was also not just feeling like an ice cube was touching her flesh.

It was odd and probably she should feel a little guilty for it, but Kelly was happy. Why should she fell guilty? Same reason why she doesn't actually. Due to everything that's happened in the world and all the suffering, Kelly embraced what she found with Bobby guilt free. Some would say she had no reason to be guilty, where others might argue that with all the sadness going around, how dare she be happy. Well, she was and that was that, they couldn't take it away from her. Bobby was something special and what they had was even more so. Honestly, five years and starting out in high school was hard enough. Add all the X-Men stuff, the battles, the near death experiences. Oh and don't forget each one actually being able to walk in the other's shoes. That was very rare in deed and if that didn't break them, nothing would. So yes, Kelly Wilson was happy and the world could kiss her ass.
Bobby Drake was the only boy to ever take her breath away and make her heart stop, and all he had to do was look at her. Oh lord and don't get her started when he smiled at her. Blue eyes closed briefly when he kissed her temple. "Not much really. I don't really have homework to grade, and most of my stuff is done in class. So, I figured since you were busy, I'd take a swim until you were done." Kelly nuzzled the side of his neck and leaned into him when his arm went around her waist. She loved being with him, even in his ice form, but even she had to admit she liked this better. When he kissed her shoulder, she cupped his cheek and kissed his lips. "I love you." At least now she wasn't terrified to tell him that, and she'd never ever take it for granted.

Bobby rarely questioned his happiness anymore. Since he’d shed his icy flesh and actually realized that it was possible for him to have things go right for him, he just was perfectly fine with the way things were for him. War or not. He’d been an Xman longer than most of the others aside from a select view. He was used to the constant fighting. But now, he was allowed to find happiness and he was perfectly fine with that. Seeing her happy? Well it was like heaven to see her smile sometimes.
“Well I’m done now,” he said simply with a grin as he hugged close to her side. It was completely different now that he was flesh and bone rather than organic ice. He felt her, he felt just what affection was and knew that it was more than just the action. He kissed her temple again when she nuzzled his neck. It was so natural. It had taken a while to accommodate to actually know what her gestures felt like but there was just love buried deep down in him that had allowed him to respond back when he was ice. Now? It was just second nature to know her lips. His head turned at her hand and his lips met hers as they curled into a grin. “I love you too,” he murmured back against her lips. “I actually want to talk to you about that.” He kissed the corner of her lips and nipped the cushion of her bottom lip playfully as his eyes trained on hers.

Kelly cuddled up next to Bobby and closed her eyes. Being able to feel him was something she enjoyed thoroughly and she will never take it for granted. When it comes to Bobby the girl was like someone who never forgot to stop and smell the roses. They'd had some hard times and it really was hard to cuddle up to someone covered in ice. She didn't mind it, if it meant she'd get to be with him, but those times made him like this even more special. Her head rested on his shoulder and her arms slid around his waist. A soft sigh of contentment slipped past her lips followed by a smile.
"Any plans for the rest of the day? I was just playing around in here to give me something to do." Her finger traced lazy circles around his thigh as her other arm stayed wrapped around him. Kelly grinned into the kiss and nipped his bottom lip playfully. She loved him so much, she wasn't sure if she'd survive if anything happened to him. When he said he wanted to talk about it, Kelly quirked a brow and looked up at him. "Hm?" It took her forever to get him to talk about anything, so when he offered up something like this he definitely had her full attention. She just wondered what was going on.

With the hard times they’d been through it was hard for Bobby to really find anything wrong with Kelly. The only times he’d think that they were truly rough was when they first started. He’d been so pushy in trying to make her pick out someone else and she had been the same way when she had been confined to that chair. It was head spinning at the role reversal and the young man couldn’t help but think that that would be the roughest times they’d known eachother. Even with a war, Bobby Drake had selfishly kept a plot of happiness and had no intention of giving it up any time soon. So long as she loved him, anyways. But hearing that sigh reassured him as he felt her cuddle closer next to him. It wasn’t an estimation of feeling based on sensing her temperature. It was really knowing the feel of her weight against him.
“Not really,” he said with a shrug to his broadened shoulders, “it was either sleep, videogames, or find you. So, it was a tough choice.” He winked to let her know that he was kidding as he hummed a bit at her nip. “Well… I just… and I get it if you’re not up for this… but I thought now would be the best time since we’re, well, here…” he reached into the pocket of his sweatshirt and pulled out a ring box that had been burning a hole through his pockets for nearly a good year now. “But I love you and I don’t think there’s anyone out there who knows me the way you do and I don’t want anyone else to be that person that I wake up next to.” He opened the box so she could see the ring and couldn’t help but smile nervously. “So I was wondering if you had any other plans going on for the rest of your life?”

The blond tipped her head back and smiled up at him. God she loved him more than anything. Blue eyes rolled when he said it was tough choice and she stuck her tongue out at him. "I know. I can barely compete with video games." She shook her head and chuckled at him. "Hey, you almost missed me. I almost gave up swimming, in the hopes you'd find me, for shopping." The young woman winked at him and giggled at the humming. She gave him a full kiss and climbed into his lap.
Kelly tilted her head as he started to stammer. Her face turned quizzical as she tries to process what exactly he was saying. She sat up straighter in his lap as she looked at the box and then really heard what he was saying. Blue eyes widened and they shimmered with tears. "If this is a proposal then yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes." Each 'yes' was punctuated by a kiss. She slid the ring on and straddled his lap to give him a true and proper kiss. "I love you, Robert Drake, more than anything."

“Well it could be worse. It could be trying to compete with shopping. You know how hard that is?” he joked before kissing her back and let her find her way to his lap; not minding that his clothes were going to be a bit wet now. He was Iceman. He was used to wet.
Really the nerves had been almost too much. His pulse had quickened and a cool sweat had started to dampen his hand as he held the box. It was in those split-seconds before Kelly realizing just what he was trying to ask her that had him in knots. What if she said ‘no’? After all, it had been years that they’d been together. Why hadn’t he asked her sooner? Where was his nerve then? His own icy gaze widened as she said yes and his lips met each kiss that accentuated her answer. His eyes glanced to the ring on her finger and he let out a final content breath as his eyes shut and kissed her back. His hand rose to cup her cheek. “I love you too.”

Kelly gasped and smacked him lightly, then laughed. "You have a point there. But seriously, if you ever really wanted or needed me, I'd stop what I was doing. In heartbeat, no questions asked." She smiled and nuzzled the side of his neck as she cuddled close. She really didn't mind if she got him all wet and she knew he didn't either. God she loved him more than anything.
Honestly, she had dreamed of him asking her this for, years. She never thought they'd really get to this point, but she never questioned why he hadn't asked her yet. She knew he'd do it when he was ready and he did. She was so freaking happy tears slid down her cheeks as they kissed. "You are my world, Bobby Drake. You know that? I don't know what I'd ever had done without you." For Kelly it was love at first sight. She had fallen fast and hard that night she caught him watching her dance. Then she did everything in her power to get him to fall just as hard for her. "It's beautiful, Bobby. You have amazing taste." She looked at the ring before she gently pushed him back and stretched out on top him, kissing him with everything she felt.

There were some times that Bobby Drake didn’t think this was his life. Maybe he’d stolen the identity of someone else without knowing it. Like in the Talented Mr. Ripley but it was while he was sleeping or something and he woke up with all of this looking up for him. It was ridiculous, yes. But that was the only way he could explain it. There were those times where he didn’t believe and there were even more times where he thought he didn’t deserve all of this. After all, what had he done to deserve Kelly? He knew that there was something about her since they’d first met and he had tried to fight the fact, but he had fallen hard for the blond and he couldn’t help but think that he was someone else. He didn’t mind it in the least but he expected someone to storm in, yell something about Bobby stealing that person’s life and then thrust him back into that frozen body.
He couldn’t help the smile from ear to ear in his features as they kissed. “I love you too Baby,” he said with a light laugh that really was almost testing this all out if this was real. She’d made him so happy. It was unreal. Even now where he saw that ring on her finger and the joy in her face as she looked at it. “Thanks. If you know… you really don’t we can take it back and snag a new one. Won’t be too hard.” He fell back, his arms tightening around her as he kissed her back with just as much, including this new feeling that just kind of told him everything was going to be okay. A hand rose to cup her cheek as he kissed her; his smile still evident on his mouth.

Kelly smiled up at him and watched him quietly. She knew that after five years he was still wrapping his head around the idea of them. She couldn't really blame him, he'd wrapped himself in ice, not only literally but figuratively, for quite some time. No one else had even really tried to break through it. Well not for any longer than one or two tries. But Kelly saw the man he was meant to be, and so she wouldn't stop until she found him. Now here he was and she was engaged to him. She couldn't be happier.
The blond girl matched his smile as they kissed. She'd never been so happy in her life, and her parents were going to be thrilled. Some of the students might plot her demise, but that was a given. When he said they could take it back if she didn't like, she looked down at the ring and then at him. "Are you serious? Oh God, Bobby, the ring is... it's incredible. My mom is going to be so jealous." She grinned down at him. So would the other girls at the school. Kelly loved it when he kissed her like this, it was one of the times he didn't hold back. She deepened the kiss and then finally broke off for a breath. Blue eyes sparkled as she looked down at him* "Kelly Drake. Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
