Proffessor Charles Xavier was one of the most well respected and well known experts on mutation and mutants. With the recent few years strife he could be quickly identified on the street...but then again how many completly bald suit wearing wheelchair users were there in New York? put that together with the managment of the school and his involvement in the war against Apocolypse and that equaled a lot of work and a lot of stress. Rolling himself down one of the many paths that surrounded the grounds he took in the fresh air. It was peaceful out here and he tried to come out and relax whenever he had the time to do so. Coming to a stop Charles looked up at one of the trees and listened to the birds.
He was debating a decision in his head. The war was going...well fairly poor and the different factions all trying to fight one enemy wasn't working very well. The X-men and the Hellions had improved their crime fighting capabilities when working together so perhaps the same could be said for fighting the war. He knew that the Brotherhood of Mutants were performing sneak attacks on Apocolypse, so perhaps it was time to contact an old friend...where ever he was now.

Even though it had been her decision to leave the mansion, there were times in Rogue felt home sick. True it wasn't her home anymore but it had been for a couple of years, but she couldn't deny that the people here had been her family when she didn't have anyone else to turn to and the things she'd been through with them. Every so often she'd have to take a flight over the mansion just to...check up on things so to speak. Today was one of the days she would be doing that and as she looked down from the clouds, to see the professor. He probably had already sensed her presence, so she decided she would just glide down. Her thoughts letting him know she meant no harm. After all, he was still like a father to her.
"Hey Prof..." she said landing beside him with a genuine smile on her face, though he was a telepath, he could easily sense that she was a nervous wreck. She had became somewhat the enemy by joining Magneto, but in these times, the X-men, the Brotherhood and the Hellions all had one common enemy and as such, the hostilities were more often than not put aside. Not that Rogue would ever act so hostile towards the Professor or any of the X-men unless it was necessary. Well....Ms. Marvel was an exception...but you know. Conflict between the X-men and Brotherhood was bound to happen before and its bound to happen again. But for now she just wanted peace.
"How're ya?"

Charles was surprised when he felt a new pressence approach him, it was familiar...an old friend who he hadn't seen in quite some time. It had been sad seeing Rogue Depart and he always regretted that he lost her to Erik and the Brotherhood but it was her decision to leave.
He felt it hard when he lost one of his students, esspecially the ones who were there early on like Rogue. He thought of all of his students as children...perhaps a way to make up for being a lousy father to his biological children...but that was just the psychologist in him speaking. Letting out a breath he answered Rogue "I am okay Marie....busy and stressed, but no change there, and how are you? I trust you're being treated well by Erik..."

"Yeah...Ah'm fine. He's been good to me." she replied folding her arms and across her chest. "You ain't the only one stressin out. Ah thank we all are thanks to Apocalypse. Ah dunno." Rogue crouched down and took a seat on the ground next to the Professor. She looked around and it honestly felt great to be back at the mansion. The greenery was a much preferred sight than the darkness of space on Asteroid M.
"How're the others? They doin alright? Well, as alright as one can be in these times anyway." she asked looking up at the sky.

Xavier simply nodded to Rogue's responce that Erik was treating her well, he hadn't expected any other answer but he was not sure of his current mental state, after all they'd both been under a lot of pressure during the recent troubles and he was never sure how he treated his own group of mutants.
On the question of how all the others were doing...well there were a lot of them, he supposed he should update her on the first group of X-men, the group she begun studying with all those years ago. "Bobby, Megan Jean and Scott are all doing quite well. I suppose the easiest way to say it is that they are all growing up, you've all made me quite proud by the people you've turned in to and I'm hoping they'll help in the training of the next generation...if not well I suppose you all have lives of your own to leave, you arn't children anymore after all"

"Well that's good." Rogue replied. She really was happy to hear that her old comrades were well. She smiled thinking about each and everyone one of them. Well on the bright side, she was relieved of having to deal with Scott's and Jean's danger room sessions. They were always a pain and left her a bit sore afterwards. She couldn't help but glance at the professor when he said that he was proud of the people they'd become. Did that include her? Even after she left the mansion to join Magneto?
"Ah know for a fact that them four ain't goin no where. Ah dunno why, but years from now, somethin tells me Scott will be the headmaster of this place and they'll be helpin him. They carry your dream and they wanna see it happen." then of course she pondered about herself. She once believed that humans and mutants would live together peacefully one day, but after the recent years gone by, for some reason she followed more of Erik's ideals. They were the next step in evolution after all and they should take their place. But then deep down in that little place of her heart, something was telling her to hold on to the dream the professor wanted to see come true.

Xavier smiled at the idea of his original students running the school after he was gone, which during times like these could always seem to be closer and closer every day. It was a dangerous world today and they could lose X-men with every battle.
He did hope that perhaps Rogue would one day rejoin the school but he had a feeling that it would be a while before she would come back. "I do hope that is true,. I have been wondering exactly how the school will continue after I can not continue the day to day running. But I do hope it will be a long time before I have to think about a hand over"

It'll be a long ways off before you're gone, Professor. And when it comes, the school'll be in good hands. You got Scott to keep the rules and students in check, Jean to keep Scott in check, Bobby to keep the mood lightened and Megan to make sure everybody don't work each other's nerves. So you got a good crew there." she reassured him. And now that she thought about it, she really missed being part of that crew. To be honest, the Brotherhood was kind of...well, bland and always so serious. It was like they didn't know how to be happy. It was always trying to find an enemies weakness and attempting to crush them. It got tiring after awhile.

She was right of course, many could say that the style of teaching at Xavier's helped produce personal growth among students who then themselves became more confidant adults...which perhaps had some truth in it, after all it wasn't as if they hadn't had several success stories over the years but Charles believed he was gifted by having a good selection of students to begin with. Most of them had problems in their lives that they were able to lean on with each other for, after all Rogue couldn't touch anyone, Pixie and Ice Man both had unhuman appearences, Scott had lost both his parents and Jean spent most of her life in a coma. All unique problems yet all had become strong adults in the long run.
He did so wish to ask Rogue to return, but he didn't want to push her...occasionally he'd give her a small verbal nudge but he knew that if he left the door open long enough she'd eventually walk through it, even if it was years own the line. With a nod and a smile he said "Yes...you're right, and of course there is always a place here for you."

"Thanks Prof...Ah appreciate that." which she did, but Erik promised to help her find a way to control her abilities, something Xavier had failed to do. She looked down at her gloved hands...it got so tiring of always having to cover up when she knew she would be in a vicinity of others. Part of her wanted to hold on too that little bit of hope that one day she wouldn't have to, but it'd been over ten years since her powers manifested and nothing.
" Well, that's if there's a place f'me to return to. The way thangs are lookin'...it won't be long til Apocalypse rule the world. Ah don't wanna think the worst and try t'be optimistic but these days, ah ain't so sure no'more."

Of course Charles was expecting this topic to come up, it was everywhere...the news broadcast hardly anything else and naturally everyone was worried about Apocalypse and his seemingly unstoppable hoards. Xavier had many sleepless nights where he wondered if this was an unwinnable war and sometimes in the dark times he could believe it was hopeless, these of course were dark feelings he would never share publicly. He was the X-men's head and as such he needed to seem strong...unfallable, but that was a hard thing to accomplish.
He looked concerned at Rogue before offering a comforting smile to her "Things at the moment are at their most...difficult to date I agree but there is hope. Whilst this enemy seems unstoppable he also has a lot of fronts he has to fight on and as long as we have hope we have a chance. It is when we give up and despair that Apocalypse truly wins."

"Ah don't know how you manage to keep the optimism up all the time, prof." she shook her head but couldn't help but smile at the guy, but he was also right. She knew Erik would agree. The war was only truly lost if we were to throw in the white flag, something she would never do, even if all did seem hopeless at the moment. She would rather die than completely give up.
"Well...Ah think ah should probably go now..." she began walking away from the telepath and looking up towards the sky. Her head turned take one more glance at the man who had been a father figure and home during the time when she didn't have either one. Her roots were planted here...something in the back of her mind knew that one day she would return. "Goodbye, professor." with that, she took off towards the sky once again.
