Peyton leaned against the outside of the restaurant. She had slipped out the back, along with the rest of the staff after they had closed up. The other's had headed off but she stayed behind. Matt would be out doing his thing and she needed a cigarette. So, she found herself leaning against the back of the building and smoking before she headed home.
Her head rested against the wall and her eyes were closed. She hadn't been a prostitute for five or so years, but people still remembered her. Some still tried to get her to do her thing, well what used to be her thing. When she finished the cigarette she flicked the butt away from her and pushed off the wall. She was in black slacks and a white tank top, luckily she had to wear the chef's jacket, so she could wear whatever top she wanted underneath.
It was late and one would figure after what happened five years ago she'd be afraid to be out this late on her own. But she'd learned a lot and she wasn't afraid of the thugs. It was all the other crap going on that she didn't like. Her hands slid into her pockets as she started to make her way home.

"Care to let me walk you home?" the silence of the night was broken by the voice of James Howlett, better known as Logan, better known as Wolverine. It had been some time ago indeed since a confused, hungry and just horribly tortured by the process of adamantium being laced into his skeleton that had led to a frozen and naked Logan to tumbling out in front of Peyton's car, and like the good soul she is, she took him in and nursed him back to good health. It was something Logan had never forgot.
When she took up a career in making food, Logan had to be there for the first big night. Partly to be morale support, partly to punch someone in the face if they complained and partly because he had really been in the mood for a steak that night. As it would happen, she did a good steak.

Peyton looked up when she heard a familiar voice. "Hey, Logan. How have you been? I don't get to talk to you much when you come in." Logan was one of her few guy friends that she hadn't actually slept with. It was actually a bit odd for her since pretty much her only friends, were former clients. Odd but not in a bad way, Logan was one of the exceptions seconded only by Matt. But then Matty was more than just a friend.
The mutant linked her arms through his and smiled up at him. "And to answer your question, yes you can walk me home. It would be most appreciated." She grinned and winked at him. Peyton had never really been afraid of walking the streets alone and still she wasn't really afraid, just a bit more cautious. Five years ago she had been attacked and raped. She never did tell Logan about that, she never told anyone, just a couple of her friends found out in their own way. She wouldn't have told them either. "So, what brought you in tonight? Craved another steak?"

"I've been good darlin, how have you been?" he replied with a feint smile before letting her hook her arm with is. "Your always welcome." he informed as the two started to walk the dark, cold streets. Dangerous people walked the streets, desperate scared people. Logan could smell them. "Well it certainly wasn't the vegetarian special." the Canadian mutant replied with a guilty smile. Logan did enjoy her steaks, nobody would ever say Peyton didn't know how to work some meat. "Besides, I just like to get out sometimes." That was an understatement, Logan was rather known for just upping and leaving, usually with little heads up.

"Glad to hear it. I'm doing very well." Peyton flashed him and grin and patted his shoulder. Logan was a good friend and a really good one to have when a girl didn't want to walk home alone. "So are you. Welcome to call, stop by, visit, and so on." She gave him a little wink and chuckled. "I really can't see you eating vegetarian anything. I bet you order the Chef salad minus the vegetables." Her tone was teasing and her smile firmly in place. At his comment about getting out she nodded again. "Completely understandable, hon. You ever need to talk or just hang out, stop by. Promise?" Peyton turned her head to look at him. "You need anything?" She wasn't rolling in money, but she had two ears to listen if he needed it.

"Yeah, the vegetarian special, held the vegetables and extra bacon." he smiled back, before becoming aware that his jacket was wearing the smell of cigar just as much as he was wearing the jacket. Well, his nose might have picked it up, but that didn't mean hers would, although he was sure she'd have been used to it by now.
"Nope, don't need a thing, guess I'm pretty comfortable, as far as things go these days." Truth be told, things were a lot better then he was used to as the Academy, life there was......passable. Better then being on the move all the time. No question about that.

Peyton chuckled and shook her head. "Well please tell me, you are at least having a V-8" A snicker escaped her as she nudged him in the shoulder. Peyton the only vegetables that Logan really liked were potatoes and maybe onions, but she wasn't sure. The Latina actually found the smell of cigar on his jacket quite comforting.
"You, comfortable? Who is she?" Peyton grinned and winked at him, just let him know she was teasing. As far as she knew, Logan didn't do relationships. He might, but she'd never heard of him in one.
