The time was a few weeks ago, a few days before the start of the X-men vs Hellions battle and Proffessor Charles Xavier was in his office. Today he had an interesting lesson with an interesting girl, one who lacked the ability for vocal speech. Several people had attempted to help her but to no avail. Charles was hoping that as a telepath he would be able to help.
Sitting in his chair he truly hoped he could. After all thoughts were all very different and whilst you heard them in a language what they actually were about could be picked up like a feeling by a telepath. That was what Charles was planning on doing today. He sat behind his desk waiting for the knock and was a little unsure of what exactly he was going to find. He just hoped that he could help this girl fit in with the rest of the student body.

Professor Xavier offered to help Cid with her inability to speak and she was quite grateful for that. She's missed out on a lot of stuff because she couldn't communicate properly, and she was really wanting to make friends. But a lot of people couldn't really handle having to play charades to get the communication thing done.
Quickly she made her way to the Professor's office and knocked on the door before she stuck her head in. "Professor? Hi! She fairly bounced into the room and promptly sat down in front of him. On the floor of course, her head tilted back as she looked up at him. A hopeful expression on her face as she eagerly waited to see what would happen.

Xavier was writing something down when he heard the knock, he looked up and opened his mouth to say 'come in' when he saw the little excited face looking at him from the door. He smiled and beckoned her in as she entered and sat on the floor. He looked at the girl with a slightly confused look before saying "You may sit on the chair if you like..."
Clearing his throat he decided to begin, he knew he'd have to enter her mind...a slightly rude thing he considered, invading someones mind with out their permission so he always made sure people knew what he was doing before he did it "Well Cid...welcome, now I understand it you are having trouble vocalising certain thoughts. today I'm going to attempt to help you, but to do so I'm going to have to enter your mind. Of course everything I see in there will be between yourself and I but I wanted you to know what was involved...is that okay?"

Reptilian eyes blinked up at him, and then she stood up and got into a chair. She tucked her feet underneath her and smiled over at him. "You can help me?" She really wanted to be able to communicate. If she didn't have to form the words physically, she could hold a conversation. The only thing is, she wasn't sure why she couldn't speak. She had known how, at one point in her life. There was the real possibility that she feared it?
"Alright. I trust you. You helped me. What do you need to see?" There were parts of her memory that she blocked out. Namely the procedure that turned her into what she was today. The transformation had hurt her something fierce and she had nightmares about it for the longest time. Then they nightmares stopped coming as she blocked them out, and here she was. Actually now that she thought about it, she doesn't even remember her life before the being on the streets.

He nodded as she clambered in to the chair and smiled warmly as she agreed for him to enter her mind. That was good, it would make the entire lesson that much easier. He let in a breath, it was always easier to enter a mind when his own was at peace. Before he begun the process he said "Right now I'm not sure what I need to see to unlock your unwilling vocal chords. I hope after I enter your mind will lead me to the problem, now try to relax if you're unaccustomed to this it may feel...unusual"
He put his hands on his temple and searched out for the girl's mind. He found it almost instantly and begun to enter. To himself it was as if they were both standing in a wide open white landscape where there seemed to be no horrizon...just emptiness that stretched on forever. Charles Xavier looked more or less exactly the same but there was one important difference, in this astral place in the girl's mind he was able to walk again. "Okay Cid...I am here. Are you able to show yourself to me?"

The girl shrugged, she had no problems with the Professor being in her head. She had nothing to hide and nothing she was really ashamed of. "It's alright. I don't mind, really." That being said she closed her eyes and sat back, letting herself relax so he could do his thing.
Cid was most curious about the landscape and was looking around trying to see if she could see anything. When he asked if she could show herself, she scampered over to him. "I'm here. What do you need me to do? There's one door that's locked and I get scared whenever I get close to it." The door held her life from the age of ten and below, there things in there that she hadn't been ready to remember, but might have to.

Xavier folded his arms and nodded, this was all going so well. He hadn't expected her to be so relaxed in this strange enviroment due to her more instinctual personality. It seems though, that he was wrong. She was much more accepting of hte mind probe then he thought she would be.
She mentioned a door, one she was afraid to go near, that could be a mental representation of repressed memories. It seemed fairly simple that whatever lay there could be the thing stopping her speaking. "Okay Cid, it seems to me this door could be a memory that you do not want to face. You may be frightened by it but I am going to help you face and overcome this door and see what lays beyond, it may help you a lot"

A soft whimper escaped when he said she'd have to face the door. She moved so that she was behind him and peeked around his left side. "But it's scary there." The words came out in a soft mental whisper. The little orange girl started shaking at the thought of it. She really really didn't want to go in there. Everything from the time she was ten and younger is locked behind that door. Her illness, the procedure, the nearly dying, and becoming a monster. She just didn't think she could face the demons beyond that door, because she was the demon behind the door.

The poor girl, he didn't want to force her to face her demons but sometimes that it was what it took. To recover from one's fears sometimes being thrwn in the deep end so to speak was the only way to recover. He offered his hand down behind him down to her. It wasn't a real physical touch but he hoped it would bring some comfort to her in this tense situation.
"I understand it frightens you Cid, but remember you are not alone here. I believe you must face this door and what is behind it but you live in the mansion, we are a family and that means you'll always have someone by your side should you need it. But I have less power here then you might imagine. I could rip the door open but I won't. To open it must be your choice"

The young girl was shaking like mad as she stared at the door. When he brought his hand down to take hers, she didn't hesitate in taking his hand. Viscid was shaking so hard that she was fairly vibrating with the fear of what lay behind the door. She didn't remember much about her childhood before she became adopted by the streets of New York, and she never questioned it. The girl had no idea that at one point in her life she had been and looked normal, nor that she had been dying. The cure that her parents had found for her ended up being the same thing that made them get rid of her, as if she were some sort of terrible mistake.
The girl tipped her head back and looked up at Xavier. Tears gathered in her eyes as she nodded. With a slow breath she let go of his hand and took a couple of steps towards the door. As her hand reached out for the handle, her eyes squeezed shut as the doorknob turned. Slowly she opened the door and they saw the bedroom of a very sickly, blond young girl. She was in huge bed, and three people were standing a bit away talking. Two men and one woman. The woman was sobbing and one man had his arms around her. The other man was in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck. ”I'm sorry, sir. But there is nothing I or anyone else can do. She won't last the month. I'm sorry.” With that the doctor slipped out of the room. The woman buried her head into the other man's chest and cried. “There has to be something....” The man couldn't bear the thought of losing his only child. Steely determination entered his eyes as he stroked his wife's back. “We'll find a way. No matter what it takes.” The words were said softly and it was suspect if he was talking to himself, the woman in his arms, or the pale girl that was barely breathing on the bed.

Xavier felt a feeling of warm pride flow through him as Cid went to the door and opened it, he knew how hard this was for her and he tried to let those feelings flow to her so she knew she was doing well. After she was at the door he followed, standing behind her so she would have a comforting pressence with her.
He assumed the girl in the bed was her, but of course she had no contact with this memory but hopefully it would all make sense in the end for her. So he watched on, wondering what would happen in the memory next.
