The girl was lost, there was no doubt about it and she started to get more frustrated then scared. A door opened and she slipped inside. The tapping of her cane echoed on the concrete floor. Her head tilted to the side, her destroyed eyes hidden behind the black, mirrored sunglasses. "Concrete? Where the hell am I?" The words were whispered but they echoed none the less and she clapped her hands over her ears. A low growl escaped her throat, damn but she hated this.
Once more she started tapping, figuring to the explore the area in her own way. She bumped into something that sent her tumbling head over heels. CRASH! BOOM! BANG! The noise reverberated through the garage and she the girl curled up and covered her ears again. She'd landed hard on her knees and hands and they ached. Shane's hand found the cane and she hurled the piece of crap, it bounced off something and a car alarm went off.

Cyclops laid underneath one of the cars in the garage. He was giving it a bit of a check over to make sure it was in good running health. Afterwards I'll have to do a check up on the Blackbird soon, do a full diagnostic check He thought to himself as he worked away. He had headphones in his ears, completly unaware of Darktouch's wonderings as he hummed quietly to one of the best albums of 2013.
It was then that she fell and Scott heard nothing...that was until the Cane hit his car, setting the alarm off. The noise made Scott jump and he hit his head on the top of the car. Rubbing his head he painfully slid himself from under the car . He pulled out his ear phones and looked for the cause of the noise. Spotting the girl he walked over to her, rubbing his still throbbing head. Looking at her he went to help her up "Are you alright, miss?"

Gloved hands clamped over her ears as the car alarm went crazy. They say that when you lose one sense, the others heighten and that is very true. What she hadn't done yet was get used to it. A low growl escaped her throat as she tried to stand, but keep her ears covered at the same time. The palms of her hands and her knees were hurting and she was pretty sure her knees would stiffen up if she wasn't careful.
Shane was up on one knee when she heard the voice. The girl was startled and she tried to back up. The blind girl had no idea that Scott Summers was reflected in the lenses of her sunglasses. She'd never heard the voice or smelled the scent of his soap before. "Who are you? I'll scream." She was never one to scare easily, not until she lost her sight and didn't quite know how to function properly blind. Let alone how to function with a power that could kill a man.

Scott was surprised at the way she reacted...after all she was only trying to help, he looked over quickly at the object that hit his car, hmm, a cane that's when he realised she must've been blind. QUickly he went back over to the car, turned the alarm off and grabbed the cane. No wonder she was scared, loud noises going off, not being able to see around you. He'd have to do his best to calm her down.
Keeling down to her level he spoke in the now quiet garage in low, calming tones "Don't worry...I'm Scott Summers. I'm one of the X-men. I was working on one of the cars in here when your cane set off it's alarm...but I've got it back for you, need a help up?"

"Make the noise stop, please!" Shane was starting to get a real headache from the alarm echoing through the room. She had finally determined where she was located. As if the smell of gas and oil hadn't been enough, the car alarm clinched it. The girl kept her hands clamped over her ears until the noise subsided.
Shane 'felt' him kneel down next to her, if her head hadn't been pounding she'd have arched a brow at the tone he took. It took a minute for it to sink in, why he was talking to her like that. As soon as he said he was Scott Summers, the blind girl went a little pink. "Sorry, Mr. Summers. I didn't mean to imply that you would do anything. Just you know... New to this and all." When she said 'new to this' she waved her hand in front of her face. Oh man she's stepped in it this time. "I hate that thing, the cane I mean. Um, yeah I could use a little help. Thanks."

Grasping the hand that came out in front of her face Scott gently let the blind girl up "Theeeere we go..." he said as he made sure she was upright before putting the cane in to her hand. He knew how she felt...sort of, he did have a slight sight problem himself and before he was found by the Professor he had lived some of his life with out being able to see. As a result he knew what it felt to be scared and alone and not know where you were. Even familiar places were frightening when you no longer recognised them.
"That's alright, I've been in your shoes before. I haven't always been able to see. I can't really open my eyes with out blasting everything in my path. So before the professor created my special Ruby visor and glasses I had to spend all the time with my eyes closed, even now i'm kinda colour blind since everything I see is red."

If Shane had been her normal self, she probably would have gone a bit giggly at this point. He had a nice voice, even though he was working on a car, his scent was nice too. Yeah, had she been herself at the moment, she'd have gone giggly. Well had she realized at the time what she was noticing. "Thanks, Mr. Summers." She stood and grudgingly took the cane from him. "I really hate this thing." A slight sigh escaped her lips as she fiddled with the cane.
Her head tipped back as he started to tell her a little bit about himself. "Well, you can look at it this way. You see the world through rose colored glasses. Literally. So, if anyone starts in on you, you have a crack you can make." Shane had become all about making the cracks and the jokes. Well, for the most part, she was still working the self deprecating humor so that it didn't sound whiny.

Scott smirked when she said she hated her cane. He supposed it would be annoying to have to drag something like that around with you...perhaps she would get used to where everything was and not have to have it with her one day though if she didn't know her way around before she lost her eyesight that would definetly be much harder to acomplish.
He chuckled lightly at her rose tinted glasses joke "Heh, never thought about it like that before. Are you okay now? the floor is kind of a hard place to land if you don't know where you're falling too. I'm guessing you've not been here to long? I don't recognise you"

Shane had never been helpless in her life. So, this whole blindness thing was really screwing with her head. She knew that she'd be able to have a normal life, just at the moment she wasn't sure how the hell to accomplish that, especially since she hadn't gotten her powers under control. So, she couldn't even really 'read' anything by learning braille. It sucked things she didn't even want to think about it sucking. But she'd had time in the med bay to deal with that part. To an extent.
The girl just shrugged when he said he'd never thought of it that way before. "Always good to get a different perspective, ya know?" Her head turned so she looked as if she were looking at him. "I've determined that by the burning and stinging sensation in my hands and knees." It came out in as sarcastic as it possibly could. Shane couldn't help herself, she was a bit freaked at the moment. "I've been her for nearly a year. However, I've just gotten out of the med bay fairly recently. Finally let out into general population, if you know what I mean. What about you?" Now had she been herself, she'd have asked if he was single.

She'd been here a year? really? wow...the school was getting pretty big, he remembered only a few years ago that he knew everyone in this place. Now there were people he didn't know popping up everywhere. Maybe he should start paying a little bit more attention?
"Oh right...maybe that's why I've not seen you around much" he begun, he was a little embarrased at the fact he didn't know who she was "Well I've been here about...seven years now, I was inthe first class of students. Now I'm training to be a teacher."

"Don't worry about it Mr. Summers. They really didn't let anyone visit me. They weren't quite sure about my powers. That was another reason I was kept there. I guess they activated during the accident that blinded me. Had to make sure they were um.. isolated to just my hands. You know?" The girl shrugged as she rolled both of her hands, working out her wrists that were starting to stiffen up.
"That's cool. I don't know when I'm going to be getting to actual class or not. I can't learn braille until I learn to control my powers. Which sucks, because I hate the idea of being so far behind. I can't take tests unless the teachers take me to another room and read me the questions. The only problem is, I've never been able to write with my eyes closed. So, pardon my language, but I'm in a bit of a clusterfuck, at the moment." Her tone was matter of fact, she wasn't complaining just telling it like it is.

Scott nodded as he heard the girl's problems, it seemed she'd had a rather rough ride at least, being stuck in the hospital not able to see anyone else in the school. Must've been quite lonely, esspecially in your first year. Scott was quite lucky in that regard in that when he joined there were only five or so of them and it let to them forming quite a tight knit group. One they were still in today...well for the most part.
One topic that took Cyclops' curiosity was why she was unable to learn brail because of her powers, she didn't have some sort of touch based power like Rogue did she? well if she did it wasn't the same as he was still consious after helping her up...and she didn't have some sort of disolving power because he still had a hand "That's alright..just try to go easy on the cursing 'kay? so...if you don't mind me asking what powers do you have?

"Sorry, Mr. Summers. Um from what I was told I have corrosive powers. I touch things and they disintegrate. Hence the gloves and why I can't learn braille yet. I was told that I have the ability to control my power, I just haven't had any training yet. I guess they were more concerned with me learning to get my bearings with the blindness first. Since they had the gloves and stuff." The girl shrugged, not really sure what went on in the minds of adults, and not too keen on really wanting to know either.
"Don't worry, it's only through my hands. Extensive tests were done. But apparently, they don't want to put too much strain on me at the moment. I think they think I'll crack." She really couldn't remember who 'they' were. She was pretty sure they told her when she first got here, but between the pain and the fear she wasn't really paying attention. Maybe she'll find out one day. "Uh, Mr. Summers... How bad is my fashion sense today?" A small grin touched her lips when she asked that question. Something told her that Mr. Summers idea of fashion was a uniform, or jeans and button up.

Hmm, seems he was wrong it was a type of corrosive touch...just apparently not able to melt the gloves she was wearing which suggested she may have some small unconsious way to help with her powers. THat was good , he just hoped they were able to help her more then they were Marie and that this girl was more patient with them then she was. He couldn't quite picture what it would be like to have your life hampered in so many different ways. "Have you considered studying with one of the telepaths? or asking Professor Xavier for lessons? after all then rather then having to read they could beam the lesson in to your head for you to...mentally read, or something
She then begun to talk about the clothes she had on. He'd never really thought of some of the normal every day challanges that would effect the blind, what colour clothes you were wearing, what food you were picking up. You'd have to be rigidly organised....but then again Scott already kind of was. In responce to her question he said "It isn't too bad...but then again I'm never sure what is in style exactly, but I know I keep my wardrobe in a strict system with only certain clothes in each section...so they're easier to find. That's something you could always try."

Shane thought about his suggested and wondered why she hadn't thought about it before. Oh that was right, she really didn't want to bother them with the problems of one student. From what she'd gathered their all really busy here and she hated the thought that she would be the reason they'd miss out on any free time they might have. "Um... Well, I know they are really buy and stuff. You know, I'd kind of feel bad about taking up any spare time they might find. I think I need to learn to control my powers, before I can learn to really live as a blind person, you know? I mean, my life is now centering more around touch than it ever has and if I can't touch, I can't see. But I don't really want to be a bother." She didn't know what was so special about the gloves she was given, or even who gave them to her, she just knows that they stop her from hurting people. Not that she had a problem with hurting someone if they earned it, mind, but yeah.
"Oh I don't care if it's in style at this point. I just don't want to look like a total doof, you know?" Not that she really cared at this point, it's not like she could see that she was a fashion disaster. She just wanted to be prepared to flip off the other kids if they made fun of her. Her head titled when he told her how his clothes were set up. Oh boy. "I'll have to remember that. Maybe have one of the girls help me get my closet and drawers situated. I'd hate to have to wear the same color, just so I could be coordinated. That would suck."
