++Application for Enrollment++
The Person
Name: Pete Wisdom
Age: 33
Place of Birth: London, England
Applying too: Xavier’s
In what capacity: Staff – History
Family: Harold Wisdom (Father), Margaret Wisdom (Deceased), Romany Wisdom (Sister)
Height: Five nine
Weight: Hundred and fifty eight pounds
Appearance:
Skills:
Pete is, or rather was, a highly trained operative of her Majesty’s secret service, and as such is skilled in various forms of espionage and intelligence-gathering techniques, not to mention fluent in several languages. He’s physically in good shape, albeit that it’s slightly curtailed by his constant smoking, and has a good deal of experience in hand-to-hand combat that is greatly augmented by his powers. Peter is also a crack shot with a pistol, although he will very rarely (if ever) carry one these days. Finally Pete, as one might expect from his current job, is surprisingly knowledgeable about global history, having studied it extensively during his university years and in passing during his stint with MI6.
Personality:
Pete Wisdom is often described as a loveable, yet roguish, ladies Man that seems to have very little interest in doing much beyond chasing the next skirt that walks by. That’s not to say this isn’t entirely untrue, Pete does have a keen love for the opposite sex that sometimes leads him to distraction, it’s mostly a front that he puts forward to conceal his real intentions.
Smart, loyal, and confident, though some might argue overly in regards to the latter, Pete is the very epitome of the stereotypical MI6 Agent – James Bond. Of course James Bond could never be as ruthless as Pete Wisdom, a man who is very willing to make sacrifices for the greater good when push comes to shove.

The Mutant
Codename: None
Mutant Abilities:
Pete has the mutant gift to absorb ambient levels of heat and solar energy from his surroundings, converting it into semi-solid energy projections from his fingertips that are comprised of pure thermal energy and by many regards as hot as the surface of the sun. These blade-like projections, dubbed “Hot Knives”, can be used as either projectiles or alternatively used as slashing weapons. Pete has also, on occasion, used them to shield himself or slow his fall, using the power to generate thermals beneath him.
Weaknesses:
Despite his powers, Pete is still fundamentally human and as such is still subject to all the perils and pitfalls you’d expect a “normal” man of his height and build to fall short of.
Pete greatly regrets never making amends with his mother and semi-blames himself for her death. A belief his father seems to share.
While at the time he had no compulsions against his actions, Pete never the less feels guilty over some of the stuff he did during his tenure with the SIS, a feeling that seems to have grown stronger the longer he’s out of the game.
Pete’s departure from the Secret Intelligence Service also left a bad taste in many mouths, and a few are looking to settle the score. Not to mention the new sub-organisation of the agency, Black Air, has taken an interest in mister Wisdom.
History:
Born in London, England to Harold and Margaret Wisdom, Peter, or Pete as he prefers, is definitely British to the bone. His father, a detective-sergeant metropolitan police force, spent much of his time at work, leaving Pete and his older sister Romany to be brought up mostly by his mother.
Much of his youth was spent getting in and out of some form of trouble or another, constantly causing his parent’s no end of concern and shame over his antics. His powers also, having first starting to manifest in his late teens, dramatically increased the rift that was forming between them, a rift that would only get larger as the years dragged on.
University came as a welcome reprieve from his family then, a chance to escape and start leading his own life away, and he went on to study History at the University of London. It was during his studies that his mother tragically met her end, the victim of a mugging gone badly, and to this day Pete regrets not having made amends with her before her passing.
Having long known about the presence of mutant kind for several decades, The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6) approached him directly following his graduation, giving him a job offer he couldn’t rightly turn down.
Of course it quickly became apparent that MI6 was more after his mutant heritage rather than any talents he could bring to bear, and the agency was quick to capitalise on his abilities in every situation. Still, he was finally in a place he didn’t have to hide who he was, and while the job’s work steadily took on darker and darker tones, he never felt more at home.
Recently, with a new policy change and growing concerns over the ever increasing “mutant threat”, Pete was slowly put out to pasture, given smaller and less vital roles than he’d previous become accustomed to. It didn’t take a genius to notice the growing clouds, and Pete had no intention of getting caught in the coming storm and quickly tended his resignation.
After drifting around for a few months, his career prospects limited by the fact he couldn’t exactly explain what it was he’d been doing since he graduated university, he finally ended up at Xavier’s Institute. While leery at first of teaching anyone, let alone teenagers with super powers, with little to no other choices he quickly took up the offer to teach history.
The shadows were where Pete always did his best work, and it would be no surprise to many that he’d go on to co-found the team that would become to be known as X-Force, a somewhat elite squad geared towards a “Hit them before they hit you” mentality in regards to apparent threats against Mutant kind. Just as well, too, as in the days that followed and the turmoil that shook the world, the team would see quite a bit of action, and prove to be surprisingly effective in minor engagements and slash-and-burn missions.
With the revelation and war with the mutant Warlord Apocalypse kicking in, Pete was inundated with offers to return to his previous employment, his somewhat unique skill set and experience being once more looked upon favourably by Queen and Country. He surprisingly flat out refused every single one, instead choosing to burn the last few bridges with his former life in favour of continuing to repay a perceived debt to Professor Xavier, a man that took him in despite knowing full well his shady and bloodstained background.
Now, some five years since he arrived at the institute, Pete continues to tenuously balance working as a teacher and helping run the strike force. It still isn’t smooth sailing for the Brit however, his life is still skirting that thin line between success and going to hell in a hand basket, but, when it’s all said and done, it’s a pretty damn good improvement on what it was back then.
RP Sample:
“Clive old pal, it’s Wisdom... Yeah, long time eh? Listen, I need a favour...” Pete trailed off, the mobile phone already moving from its place at his ear just in time to avoid the long string of expletives his former colleague issued forth down the phone. He’d been expecting that. While he and Clive were still on good terms following his early retirement from the service, it was one thing to trade banter and witty remarks with a guy and another to risk your neck doing him a favour.
“Look, remember the time in Madripoor? Yeah? Well, you owe me one an’ I’m aiming to collect.” A smirk wormed its way onto the former spy’s face as the man on the other end of the line conceded (albeit with some reluctance).
“I need everything we...” He winced slightly at the slip of the tongue before continuing, “Sorry... Everything you have on a fellow by the name of Erik Lehnsherr, a.k.a. Magneto. And do me a favour, cut the party line bull about it taking time to dig it up, the way this ponce has been stirring things up lately he’s files gotta be open at the top of the list.... Mhm, yeah... Three o’clock at the Balanced Rock... Yeah, I’ll see you there... Oh, and Clive? This only makes us even for Madripoor, I’ve still got a few more favours to call in, eh? Bye!”
He clicked his phone shut, signalling the end of the call before his former co-worker could get in another word. Despite the small grin that still played on his face, Pete knew that he’d be disappointed before the day was out. Even with the waves that he was creating, Magneto was too clever to leave much of a trail for anyone, let alone MI6. Still, something didn’t sit right about the guy in the back of his mind. Something that niggled and irked him to no end. It was a feeling that he’d learned to pay attention to, because you never knew when it would save your life.
