Maya fiddled with the grey wrappings she had around her hands. It was there to protect her knuckles from the punches that she would throw, but she made sure it went all the way up to her elbow. If a little was good, more was better. The woman ran her fingers along the smooth black feather she adorned her plain black leather outfit. There had to be something going on in NYC this late. It was ten, the was should have been more activity going on. At least some stupid punk ass kid she could beat up. Echo let out a frustrated growl from her perch on the fire escape.
Just then, as if answering her call, a man with a purse was running and he wasn't an athletic cross dresser. A smirk formed across her face as she let out a loud whistle to the guy, just to get him to notice her. With that, Echo sprung down from her perch and landed on the concrete bending her knees to absorb the shock from it all. She lifted her head up and sprinted after the guy. She ran him into a dead end and grinned like a Cheshire cat that the robber.
"Who are you, Punta?" he asked in what she knew was a mexican accent. Echo walked closer to him, then he pulled out his gun. The guy didn't look like he knew how to handle the pistol in his hand. "Muy Bien. I prefer this one though" she said swiftly grabbing her 45 out of her holster on her boot. Maya didn't actually need to have the metal weapon in her hand to take this guy down, but it was one thing he understood. The man blinked and started to sweat at the woman holding her firearm at his head.
"Now I'll ask you once to hand me the purse so I can return it to its rightful owner." she said in a cool voice. The man scoffed at her and made the mistake of lowering his gun slightly. Without even blinking, Echo ran at him and kicked the run out of his hand. He buckled over holding his broken wrist as Echo snatched the gun off the ground and took the purse from him.
Maya but her gun back into its place on her combat boot and the new gun in the back of her pants. It wasn't covered by her shirt, but she'd avoid walking on the streets. NYC was a strange place, but the people would care if they saw a woman dressed in black, some feathers and two guns walking down the street.

Cid had stayed to the shadows like she always did. Her sole job was to make sure that people were safe, even if they did want to cause her harm. The girl was moving from shadow to shadow as she followed the lady in black. She wasn't sure if the lady was in danger or the dangerous one, but she really felt she needed to keep an eye on her. Just to make sure. So, the orange girl followed the woman. Apparently, she was more quiet in her stealth than she thought because the woman never turned around.
Reptilian eyes watched as the other woman chased the man with the purse and Cid followed, just in case the woman got in over her head. The girl blinked when she saw that the woman could most definitely handle herself. What she hadn't realized was that she was no longer in the shadows. The hood of her jacket had fallen back, and her tail swished back and forth. The man, who was already in pain, let out a scream of terror and started stammering about demons coming to claim his soul. A forked tongue flicked out as she licked her lips and watched as the man tried to get away from them both.

Maya turned around and stopped, staring at the figure under the yellow light of the street lamp. She waited cautiously as she saw the tail and the orange complexion on the girl. This one was definitely a mutant. Echo wasn't sure whether this girl was there to deter her from her route or just there to spectate.
"I'm not stealing it, honest." she said while catching the slow movement of the shadow of her burglar. "Where do you think you are going?" she growled while kicking the man back down and successfully knocked this man unconscious. Perfect timing too, that way Echo could ask the girl what her name was and what she was doing out so late. She looked like she was fifteen, but then again her mutation might have made her appear younger.
"Whats your name?" she asked in a softer voice than she used on the man on the ground.

The orange girl knew that the other one was just trying to do a good deed by saving the purse, but her head tilted a bit. The other woman's methods were a bit too violent and over the top. Just for a simple purse snatching. Of course the man did pull a gun on the woman first, but it was kind of understandable she chased him into a corner, so to speak. Her head tilted to the other side as she pondered this for a moment. But then again, he could have been picking the purse up for someone who had left it behind. She hadn't heard anyone yelling, to stop the thief. Again, the reptilian looking girl pondered.
When she was spoken too, she looked over at the woman and tried to figure out how to answer the question. She didn't have anyway of letting her know that it was Viscid and not Sticky, so she shrugged a bit. Her mouth opened and a rusty squeak came out so she waved.

Maya tilted her head to try to get a better look at the girl's expression. From what she could see, Maya saw that the girl was wary of her methods of bringing down that burglar. Most people were wary of a woman that could dish out more than what she was given, yet they adored men dressed in tights. Maya was impressed by the actual supernatural powers that existed for mutants, but she found it still more impressive to see a guy like Daredevil running around with out any heaving hitting power. To her, it took more guts to be a hero or take a stand without the ability to throw people around with his mind. It would make things easier, no doubt, but hardly fair against ordinary scum. But then again, Echo wasn't giving her opponent a fair chance.
Her brown eyes saw that the girl wouldn't speak to her. That was alright with Echo, she rather liked the silence. However from this girl's appearance, she looked like she was in a bad spot. "You shouldn't be out here. How old are you anyways?" she asked, not noticing the squeak that came from her slit tongue.

It had nothing to do with Maya being a woman, it had to do with the fact that she would have disapproved of anyone going overboard for something like this. Cid was very much in keep things on an even keel, which was why she very rarely used her pheromone powers, and she only used her toxins to incapacitate a person. But that was just Cid's way of thinking, apparently others didn't quite see things that way. Well, there wasn't anything she could do about it so she leaned back and watched. If the woman tried to kill the man she'd step in.
When the woman told her it was late and she shouldn't be out, the orange girl just shrugged. She had nowhere else to go, so she might as well be here. At least that was her logic. When asked out old she was, she held up ten fingers and then five more, showing that she was fifteen. Then she pointed to Echo and made an 'and you?' gesture, asking her age in return.

Echo watched as the girl responded to her by using her fingers. The woman tilted her head with a curious look. Maya liked puzzles, right now she was wondering what a fifteen year old girl was doing out this late and following her around. Her eyes darted to her citrus colored skin and long tail. Maybe she used to be a Morlock or something? Nah, she was too young to be. Perhaps she was just passing though or had been abandoned. Maya flinched at the thought of a little girl being left alone, having to fend for herself. If Echo ever had kids, she make sure she would be the best parent ever.
"I'm twenty two. Are you here out by yourself or are you part of the X Men?" she said asking another question. Maya was very curious and wanted to know what would bring this girl out here. Maya knew why she was out here, sort of.

The girl had no idea who the X-Men were so she just pointed to herself. Her eyes traveled to the man on the ground and she tilted her head. Slowly she made her way over to him and knelt down on one knee in front of him. When he tried to crawl away from her, she hung her head and sighed. With a shrug she stood up and looked over at Maya again. She pointed to herself and then made the motion like she was sleeping. Her hands folded and rested against her cheek, head tilted. Then she pointed around the area, letting the woman know that she lived on the streets.

Maya narrowed her eyes as the girl continued her charade game. Maya hadn't used silent communication in a while, her advancing lip reading made her converse with the hearing almost flawless. Most didn't even know she was deaf. It looked like this girl was sleeping on the streets. Maya's eyes widened once she understood.
That was appalling to Maya. She knew what it was like to be living paycheck to paycheck, but she never had to live on the street. Echo felt a weight in her chest as she thought about what this girl had to have gone through and was still going through. The vigilante hadn't forgotten the man on the ground. He crawled away and Maya let him. He'd learned his lesson for the night.
"Its a school, they had people that are special. Like us." she said gently. Maya hoped she didn't frighten the girl, but then again this one looked like she could handle herself.

Viscid shook her head so fast and hard, she nearly toppled over to stop the dizziness. She wasn't going to a place where there were people who could be mean to her. Little did she know, she'd eventually end up there. Slowly the girl backed away from Maya, just in case she tried to make a grab for her or something. She was comfortable out on the streets, to a point, she knew them.
The girl's stomach growled and she looked around for a dumpster. They were in an alley and alleys always had them. Finding what she was looking for, she climbed in and started rummaging around. Just her luck she found a couple of things, so that Maya could eat too if she wanted. Quickly, Cid scrambled out of the dumpster and held up a half eaten burger for Maya, as she started in on her half eaten slice of pizza.

Oh so she didn't like the idea of going to Xavier's. Maya furrowed her eyebrow at her reaction, she found herself shaking her head along with Viscid. "Alright, it was just a suggestion. I'm not trying to tell you what to do. Just thought it would be nice to not have to... eat out of the dumpster. No thanks." she said while putting her hand up to signal she didn't want the half eaten burger. "I already ate."
Echo rubbed the back of her neck. She didn't feel comfortable leaving Cid alone at night, even if the girl felt at home. She would feel like a horrible person if she just left her. It was a moral dilemma. "I'm Echo. " she said leaning against the brick building while the other girl ate.

When Echo said she didn't want the burger, the girl shrugged and ate it with the pizza. When she had said that eating out of the dumpster couldn't be good the girl just shrugged again. She'd been doing it for five years and had gotten used to it. There were times that she got some full meals out of it, so she couldn't really complain. However, she could see the other one wasn't too happy about it all. There wasn't much that Cid could do about it, this is apparently where she belonged. It was where her parents put her.
The orange girl waved in greeting when Echo introduced herself and she grinned. After polishing off the food she wiped her hands on her pants and looked up at the woman. Her eyes caught something shiny and she headed further into the alley to investigate. She picked up the empty money clip and shoved it into her pouch, that held various other shiny objects. Most of which aren't important to anyone but her.
