Taking a break from teaching, Claire De Reuix walked along the place she knew she wouldn't be called a freak, weirdo or whatever type of stereotype the normal people would call her. She looked around seeing falcon fly overhead. Smiling softly the majestic bird. To be able to fly free wherever you wanted. To be free from the the bonds of society. Claire craved that, she loved her powers. But every now and then she wanted to be free. Walking around Central Park she could hear the thoughts of all the wild life that walked around. The thoughts of these creatures, made her smile.
Taking a seat on a nearby bench, Claire took out her sketchbook. Looking at a hawk that had landed on a nearby branch looking down at a rabbit. Seeing the hunger in the eyes of the hawk, his talons gripping the branch ever so tightly. The sun shining brightly as the hawk hid in the shadows of the leaves. Letting her hand run along the paper getting the details of the hunger in the hawk's eyes.
Looking around seeing children play with their dogs. Claire smiled softly, knowing that some day she would see that happiness in her own children's eyes. Going back to her drawing she saw the hawk flap its wings, indicating that he would soon strike for his meal. Smirking, Claire decided to make that scene on her newest design of t-shirts. Feeling the warmth of the air fade as the sun would start setting soon.

Davis Cameron was tired of sitting around the old academy all day doing nothing. He'd rather be out surfing the waves or riding the pavement, which was what he was currently doing. Davis had left the school about an hour ago to begin his skate session of New York City. New York was one of his favorite spots to skate since it had some much to offer. From banks to rails, to gaps and stair sets just begging to be jumped. He spent about forty five minutes downtown before the lame security guards began to annoy him by kicking him out of the good spots. So Davis now found himself skating around Central Park.
It was a good location because of it's nice benches perfect for grinds. The blonde Aussie cruised along the walk ways weaving around the other pedestrians out enjoying this marvelous day. Davis popped off an ollie to avoid running over a little Chihuahua that had gotten away from its owner. Coming up on a bench, he let himself collapse onto it with a tired sigh. There was a girl next to him sketching something, he couldn't make out the picture since he wasn't paying attention. "G'day there, love," he greeted.

Seeing the hawk swoop down and latch his talons onto the young rabbit. The rabbit screeching in pawn as the talons dug into its skin. Jumping at little Claire sees a young man sit down next to her. Seeing the little Chiuahua glare at the blonde man sitting next to her. Seeing into the mind of the little dog she snickered I'll tell him my friend. Looking at the blond she smiled, Hello to you. My name is Claire. That little dog is sure terrified you almost ran her over.
Smiling at the guy she wondered where he learned such interesting skills. She smiled softly at him brushing her dark red hair back behind her ear. The sun starting to set as the guy was a bright orange mixed with purples and pinks. Not a cloud in the sky. The night was going to beautiful, Claire loved the night. Far more interesting animals would come out at night.

"Pleasure meeting ya Claire, I'm Davis." He looked towards the little creature that some how passed as a dog and chuckled. Women treated those things more like accessories than animals. But really, Davis couldn't see himself enjoying a little shaky rodent. He'd rather get himself a larger dog so that they could play rough, wrestle and all that. Some things you just couldn't do with a little rodent. "Heh, I wasn't gonna hit the little rodent. Though next time she should look both ways before crossing the road. Helps me out a whole lot." He tossed a kind smile her way.
Davis picked up his board and placed it over his lap, grip side down, to rest. Looking back over to her drawing he could now make out what she had been sketching. "Oh now that's awesome," he nodded to the picture.

Claire shaded a bit more of the hawk, giving him a deadly glare. Designing was her most favorite interest. She loved the idea of making clothes. Brushing a strand of her red hair behind her ear, she sighed as she heard Davis call the dog a rodent. She hated how people could easily think the smallest animal a nuisance. She shaded more around the talons, adding more features to the wings as she finished the drawing.
Looking over at Davis she smiled softly, "Why think you, Davis. I design t-shirts, this is gonna be my new design for my collection. She stated closing her sketchbook looking up at the sky. Seeing stars shining brightly, knowing that the much more determined and stubborn ones would be coming out. She smiled as a soft wind gently blew through her hair. Her brown eyes looked over at Davis, So what are you doing here so late at night? It's gotta be kind of hard to use your board here at night."

Davis watched as she put a little more into the drawing. Hawks were awesome animals, them and falcons. You could say that they were his favorite of the bird kingdom. "Oh yea? That's awesome! I can't draw for diddley squat, so I skate and surf instead." Lately, he had been thinking about opening his own shop to sell boards and other products. Hmm maybe once he got to know this girl a little better he could ask to see some more of her work. Then if he liked what he saw, he would make a proposition.
"Not at all, babe. Skating at night is one of the most enjoyable things ever. It's so relaxing, like it's just me and me board, no interruptions. Heck I've skated a lot later than this." Davis ran a hand through his hair thinking back to previous night sessions. Those were the greatest.

Claire layed her sketchbook beside her closing her eyes feeling the night air gently blow around her. She loved the night, it was always what she looked forward to. But with her teaching she had to sleep then. What people didn't know was that she hated sleeping, that's when the nightmares would come. Her brown eyes skimming the area. Seeing a little raccoon crawl down a tree with its siblings and mother. She smiled at the little creature, the mother watching out for them as they reached the ground.
Looking at Davis she smiled,"If you liked the drawing of the hawk, look at my drawings of eagles. Feel free to look through my sketchbook." She stated hearing him talk about how at night was the greatest time to skate. She would agree, it was at night that a person didn't have to worry about others judging her at all. She could 'talk' to the animals all she wanted.I will agree with you Davis, the night time is a great time. If it wasn't for me having to teach during the day, I would be out every night.

"Sweet." Davis picked up the sketchbook and cracked it open from the first page. Hmm, this girl had a real talent on her that much was for sure. He liked the way her drawings captured the intensity and emotion in the creatures' eyes and movements. He turned to a page with an eagle soaring high in the sky looking very reagal. Mann this girl could draw! "Man these are so nice." He looked towards her when she mentioned teaching. "Really now, where do you teach at?"

Claire looked Davis seeing him admire her work. She looked around smiling, knowing that she would need to head back soon for her class in the morning but not wanting to. She loved the night life. Loved the feeling of darkness surrounding her. She couldn't get enough of it. She looked at him as he asked where she taught. Cursing to herself biting her tongue Merte.... Looking at him smiling,"I teach at a school for gifted kids. It is a really nice place." She stated her hands on her lap. Hoping that she didn't give too much information away.

That was quite a good... look through. He set the sketchbook back down beside her once he closed it. This chick should do this for a profession instead of teaching, cause lord knows teachers didn't make a lot of money... for some odd reason. If anything they should be making more money than a lot of professions. Davis shot her quick smile and chuckle. "A school for gifted kids huh? Now this school wouldn't happen to be named the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters?" Oh yes, he knew all about that school since it housed the infamous X-Men, rivals to his old team the Hellions. They had plenty of encounters in the past.

Claire saw him set her sketchbook down and heard his question. She cursed to herself knowing she was surely going to get scolded by Cyclops or Jean about this, Yes it would be. I am one of the X-men. But I highly doubt my power is of any good to them." She stated putting her sketchbook in her backpack. Looking around, at times she hated her power. She was never able to help those she cared for. She could only talk to animals, communicate with them. Hardly an ability that would allow her to fight in battle."How do you know about the X-Men, Davis?"

If there was one thing that he didn't like, it was when mutants thought that their powers were useless. The only way a mutant could have useless powers was if they didn't put them to use. "Everyone has something to offer, not matter how small they think of their abilities. I know about the X-Men because I fought along side them a long time ago. Back when I was younger, me and the Hellions helped them out at times and fought them out of rivalry." Since she was with the X-Men there was no harm in telling her about his past or the Hellions. He stretched his arms up and out letting loose a tired yawn. "Before the world went to Hell," he added.

Claire looked at him chuckling a bit, How can Animal Telepathy help in a battlefield? I'm just taking a break from them mostly. I can't stand it anymore. She sighed as an owl landed on the bench beside her cocking his head at her. Claire looked at Davis, You were with the Hellions. What were they like? She looked at him smiling softly as she pet the owl. Knowing that Cyclops and them wouldn't let her in battle. She only went on recon missions when they needed information.

"Animal telepathy can be very useful. Who sees more than a human can? Animals are always around everywhere. They can see people when they are at their most vulnerable meaning you would know all of that person's weaknesses and strengths. And when you want to go on the offense, just ask some of the more viscious bred to lend their claws, fangs, and talons." Animal telepathy was indeed a very useful power when you knew how to use it. He glanced over at the owl then back to the girl. The Aussie placed his board on the ground and his left foot on top of it. He pushed it around a bit as he thought. "Like any other boarding school, just with powers. Though they were a lot more... liberated than Xavier's."

Claire looks over at Davis "If you want I'll show you what I can do. She stated looking at the owl closing her eyes. Her mind searching for his. Go perch on Davis's shoulder. But do not dig your talons in my friend. She stated as the owl glided up around to Davis and perched on his shoulder. Making a hoot sound as she sat there looking at DavisSo what's your power?
