It was late at night when he came. Most everyone in the mansion was asleep and unsuspecting of what would happen in only a few short moments…
Apocalypse had finally had enough of the X-Men. They had organized that attack after all, that had killed his first Famine. But no matter, he won that fight, little did the X-Men know. Despite what they had lost, they still had counted that fight as a victory.
What naive fools. Apocalypse never lost. He always came out on top. Always.
He floated over the school, silent and deadly. It was easy for him to bypass the security measures- he had learned everything about their cyberpath the second she had hacked into Famine’s base. Anything she had set up would be easy to get around. Shielding his mind and cloaking his presence from other telepaths in the Institute? Child’s play. Anything other security measures? Not even worth mentioning.
No one could stop him now.
He smirked, and then floated away from Xavier's. His smirk only grew wider as he heard an explosion coming from behind him, but he didn’t bother to turn around and look.
Big A has left the building.
The attack had obliterated the kitchen and the dining room and a couple surrounding rooms. Damage was widespread throughout the rest of the institute. It was on fire- anything that hadn't been damaged in the explosion would soon be consumed by flames.
Xavier's had been just about destroyed.

Adam had been sleeping soundly when the explosion went off, his room being above the kitchen took quite a battering, knocking him straight out of his bed. He was up and on his feet quickly, eyes taking in the destruction, the realization of his body being too warm.....then spotting the black smoke of fire from a small hole in his floor.
Grabbing his morning coat and tossing it on to cover up the fact he was wearing nothing but his boxers, Adam quickly dashed out of his room. "Is everybody alright? What's going on!" he roared, hoping someone would reply. Who would have done this? Sadly it was a long list...perhaps who could have done it was a better question.

Peter Parker was sprawled out on his bed, still dressed in his Spider-Man costume. He’d been out earlier, performing his duties of masked hero, and had crashed on his bed once returning, not even bothering to get changed. Snoring gently, he was unaware of the dangers about to strike... until his spider-sense went off.
He jumped off the bed, his head whipping around as he tried to gather his bearings. Sleep still clung to the corners of his mind, was that his spidey-sense? Or was he just having a bizarre dream.
The explosion soon answered his question. The glass on his window shattered, pelting the now empty bed with shards. Putting his arms over his face, he avoided the worst of it, but his arms were now covered in cuts. Not wasting anytime in debating what had happened, he turned and grabbed hold of the door handle.
He threw open his door, coughing as dust and debris swirled in the air. “Hey.. hello.. everyone ok? Anyone hurt?” he called out, into the gloom of the hallway. Always the superhero, he put his own safety to the back of his mind as he searched for his fellow students.

WORDS I THOUGHT I'D CHOKE ON • figure out i'm not so with you anymore i'm a ghost •SO I CAN'T HURT YOU ANYMORERiley was breathing softly into her pillow when Apocalypse hit. She was barely out of the dreamy haze when the blast rocked her body from the bed, her head making a nasty collision with the side table as she rolled onto the floor "Gaah! What the fuck?!" She flailed as the pain hit her.
One hand pressed her forehead hard, the other snaked up to the now glass covered bed to pull herself up. She got about halfway before a sharp piece of what used to be her window sliced her palm. She stumbled back with a loud yell of pain, propping herself up against the wall. What the hell was going on?
Hearing the fire alarm, she felt the panic rise, the adrenaline kicking in enough for the pain in her head and her palm to subside enough to walk. She put on her nearest pair of shoes and bolted out of her room. Heading for the nearest yells.

Alison Blaire couldn't sleep that night and decided that she needed some way to kill time until she could finally fall victim to some Z's. One thing came to mind...Adam's room. No, nothing like that, he was taken, had a kid and even without the former two mentioned, he was just too nerdy. But he had a serious collection of games she could play. She figured she could just slip in real fast and snag a gameboy. She traveled down the halls of the boy's dormitory until she found herself suddenly being thrown back into a wall and the temperature of her surroundings drastically increased as everything around her had caught to flame and was crumbling.
Thank god for Dazzler's ability to be immune to sound, so the boom of the explosion had been absorbed into her body and spared her ears. Still, the force knocked her back and she felt her body aching and let out a cry from the sharp pains flowing through her body. Never mind the fact that her arms and her face had been cut up by glass and that there was a wooden stake poking out of chest causing blood to gush from the wound.
"...H-Help!...." she cried. Her voice cracked as she felt her breaths shortening.
