Amara wandered through the halls of the mansion. There were many little twists and turns within the mansion that she had discovered in her five years, but there were still more to discover. She had never been one of those girls that stayed in her room and she certainly didn't grown up to just sit around. However it was raining and she couldn't go outside - which was what she preferred to do. The blonde mutant settled for exploring instead of hanging around with the other students and staff.
The age of 25 was an awkward one for Amara to in the Institute, she wasn't exactly a student or a teacher. She had her education in the city while she trained and fulfilled her X Force duties at the mansion. She enjoyed both parts of her life, but wished that they could some how co exist. Amara couldn't imagine bringing Kurt around her college friends and having the girls over the mansion. They'd either be sketched out by Wisdom or the security system. Plus they knew that the Mansion housed mutants. Magma hadn't told them she lived there just yet. She'd wait to let them in on that little secret of hers.
Amara pushed a loose tendril of blond hair away from her face as she rounded the corner. A large clap of thunder made her jump and turn her head to the window behind her. "Bless Juno" she whispered as she turned back around and happened to run into someone. "Oh sorry." she said shortly to the other person.

Cid had decided to try to work on her speech some more. So she had parked herself in front of one of the suits of statues, or busts, and looked up at it. Her mouth worked and all that came out was some squeaks. But she she was starting to form letters with her mouth. The easiest one was the letter 'O', just one problem with that. "Oooooooooooooooo" That was the only word she knew at the moment, and during such a storm it sounded more like a ghost or a wolf howling. But the orange girl clapped her hands enthusiastically, she was learning. Now if she'd just learn to shorten it to 'oh' she'd be much better off.
As it was she was rocking back and forth on her haunches when she got bumped into and someone stepped on her tail. She let out a yelp and tried to pull her tail out from under the persons foot. The girl was dressed head to toe in black, and even her tail was covered, she'd requested this, in case she accidently poisoned someone or made them fall in love with her.

Amara looked around in the dark, hoping that a flash of lightning would illuminate the somewhat dark hall way. However she couldn't find anyone face level. The blond held her hand out in front of her and let it turn to molten lava. As the warm orange substance lit up the area around her, Amara saw a girl sitting on the ground rocking back and forth as if she hurt something.
"I'm so sorry are you okay?" she asked the teenager as she knelt down to her level. Magma extinguished her hand and smiled gently at her. The woman felt horrible that she made this girl yelp. She quickly studied the teen and saw her orange skin- at least what she could see on her face- and reptile eyes.
"Are you Viscid?" she asked gently. Amara had heard about this mutant, the one that was part reptile.

Reptilian eyes blinked at the woman with the glowing hand. She reached out to touch the light coming from the woman's hand and then pulled back when she felt the heat. She stroked her tail and nodded when the woman asked her if she was alright. It's not the first time, and wouldn't be the last time her tail was a victim of foul play. The girl's head tilted as she watched the woman watching her, and wondered if they were going to be playing that mimicking game soon.
When the blond got her name right, Cid jumped up and nodded. Her hands clapped as she smiled up at the woman for getting it right. Quite a few people didn't know who she was and she had a helluva time communicating with them. Like the boy in the rain not to long ago. The red head in the kitchen was easy to talk to, she just had to think it.

Amara smiled as the girl quickly responded to her name. Good, at least she didn't scare her with her lava or anger her. Magma didn't want to upset her the first time they met. Talk about getting on the wrong foot. Something about this girl made Amara wary, yet she didn't want to run from her. There was something very endearing about the way she held herself. Viscid's curiosity made her more approachable. Honestly, Amara would have thought a mutant like her would be vicious, but then again she just met the girl. But if Xavier allowed her here, she wasn't any different from anyone else here.
"I'm Amara or Magma." she said. To clarify, Magma re lit her hand for Cid and put it out in a few seconds. Her blue eyes looked at the teenager with curiosity; she wasn't sure if she was unable to talk or just needed to learn how. So far her communication was limited to gestures of a mute. It wasn't the first time Amara had experienced a communication barrier so she knew that screaming wouldn't help her understand better.

Cid had become really curious about the ones who were different but didn't look like it. Like the Jean from the kitchen, Ororo, and now Amara. The only difference she could see with Amara is she can change her look when she uses her ability. Now Jono was different, he was kind of like her where there was actually something different about him in appearance. She liked him well enough but she had begun to think she was frustrating him. But that was neither here nor there at the moment, since she was trying to communicate with Amara. At least she knew her name.
The orange girl waved when Amara introduced herself and her head tilted when she lit her had back up. This time Cid wasn't stupid enough to reach out to touch it again. But she did flash the girl a grin before it disappeared. To show her appreciation for the showing of power, Cid clapped. To show her appreciation for Amara being nice to her, she rooted around in the pouch attached to her belt and pulled out a shiny bead and handed to Amara. Cid liked to collect things and the shinier or more unusual the better.

Amara couldn't help but smile at Vicid's enthusiasm for her power. Most everyone in the mansion knew that Magma was a volcano with legs and they weren't impressed or they never expressed their amazement. They also knew what kind of temper she had and never wanted to accidentally upset her. They treated her as if she were made out of glass. It was nice for someone to not be afraid of her and look at her with excitement.
"I can do that with my whole body, but I wouldn't want to burn the hallway." she laughed. It was possible to contain her heat to only herself, but there was always the possibility of a slip up. Magma had gotten more control over her powers, yet her emotions were still challenging.
"Oh, what is this?" she asked while taking the shiny bead from the girl. It looked like she enjoyed collecting small trinkets. Amara used to wander in the forests of Nova Roma and collect flowers. Viscid's collection was no different. "Thanks Viscid" she replied as she gently put the bead in the pocket of her smock dress. "You don't talk much, right?" she asked.

When the woman said she could do it with her whole body, Cid stood up straighter and poked Magma's belly. The expression was one of wonder and question. Did the woman mean she could even turn her belly into lava? Then she poked Magma's nose, gently so she didn't accidentally scratch her. Her head tilted the side as she studied the blond once more. She chewed on her bottom lip and then grin. Cid started to climb the wall, showing off one of her abilities. The orange girl had a couple of other things she could do, but she was loathe to use them on the nice lady.
When Magma asked what it was, she moved it closer to her. A smile spread across her face at not only being thanked, but the sincerity of it. Also too, the fact that the woman looked as if she was really going to keep it. The orange girl clapped and spun around in a circle. She hasn't been happy in a long time. At the question she shook her head and then hung her head. It wasn't that she didn't know how, it was remembering how.

Amara smiled at the girl as she watched her ever so curiously. It took her by surprise when the Cid gently poked at her body. The only reason Amara could think of was to test what she just said. "Not now of course, but that turned to lava too. Its pretty cool, however I look a bit erm... well, naked when it happens. I can only wear a certain suit or else everything turns to ash." she added, "And that gets expensive."
The blond woman couldn't help but have a certain affinity to a girl that displayed her emotions so openly. Amara was never one to hide her emotions and found it endearing that Cid could do the same thing with a stranger. Viscid spun with delight, but then crashed and looked down at the floor when Amara asked about her speech. "Oh dear, no I didn't mean to make you upset." she comforted. "When I came here I didn't know what a radio was or a Television." Amara said, hoping to show the girl she wasn't the only strange one in the School.

The little orange girl nodded her head in understanding. Her her tail flicked back and forth as her head tilted from side to side. It would be really bad to have your clothes burned off. She tapped her chin as she tried to think of a way to explain what she could do. Her eyes lit up and she pointed to herself. Then she reached out and touched Magma's hand, then Cid doubled over and acted like she was sick. Then she got an angry face, touched Magma again and fell over like she died.
Cid bounced back up and held up her finger in a 'just a second' way. She touched Magma again and then made doe eyes and sighed softly. Once done with that she touched Magma again and the giggled as she made kissy faces. Then she shrugged and sat back down, as she looked up at the blond.

Amara wasn't sure what she was witnessing, but she knew that it was something about Viscid's powers. Her blue eyes watched as she pretended to be sick, dead, sleepy then in love. It was all very amusing from her stand point, but it did get the message across. Viscid had some sort of power over toxins? That must be it. "Ah you manipulate poisons?" she said in a matter of fact way.
The professor had said something about this girl being some level of dangerous. Amara just didn't listen to what her actual powers were. She wasn't a teacher, she was part of the X Force. A super team that Wisdom headed with Sage. It was the XMen on steroids basically. Only the heavy hitters like M and Magma were allowed to be on it. Mutants like Viscid would be useful, but she'd be put in dangerous situations. Plus she was underage.

Cid watched as Magma tried to puzzle it out. At her question, she made a back and forth motion with her hand. Signalling it was something, sorta like that. She tapped her finger to her chin and then held out her hand, palm up. Moisture starts to bead on the palm of her hand and her finger tips. Careful not to touch, Magma, she made like she was going to, and once more acted out getting sick, and then dying.
The orange girl held up one hand again, in a 'wait a minute' gesture, and once more moisture beaded on her hand. She acted like she was going to touch Magma, then pointed to blond. Her hands folded under her chin, she batted her eyes, and sighed dreamily. Then pointed to herself. The first one was to let Magma know that she can form toxins and the second was for pheromones.

Magma's eyes opened wide when she saw her hand produce the poison. Well now it made sense. Viscid was proving to be a unique mutant with a very potent power. Amara waited for Cid to finish her demonstration before speaking, "I see. That is a very unique power." she said to her.
The more time Amara spent with Cid, the less she was uneasy about the girl's appearance. Amara, at least when she first entered the civilized world, had been frightened of mutants that weren't normal looking. She made a point to stay away from Kurt, but she soon got over her fear she realized that Kurt wasn actually very sweet.

The girl's head tilted as she watched the other woman. She wondered if she was understood, or if this was all a waste of time. She was working on learning to speak, but she hadn't gotten it down yet, and had to rely on acting out what she wanted to say. When she was told she had an unique power, the girl nodded and grinned. To show her happiness that the woman understood, Cid stood up and clapped.
At least, Magma understood what she was trying to say. Well for the most part. The girl dropped back down on the floor and opened her Pouch of Treasures and up ended the bag. Various shiny objects spilled out, from beads and stones, to coins and bottle caps. There some earrings missing it's other half, chains and pendants as well. Nothing stolen, all found on her journey. She looked up at Magma and pointed down. Sure she'd already given her a shiny, but she was going to let the other woman pick out something else.

Amara watched the odds and ends spill onto the floor, the only thing the items had in common were their luster. THey were all shiny and sparkled. Amara looked up at Viscid and back to the items on the ground. "You want me to have another?" she asked, but already knew the answer from the look on Cid's face. Amara scanned the loot and found a soda bottle cap. She liked it and plucked it out ot the bunch.
"Alright, thanks Cid." she said. "Hey are you hungry? I'm going to go into the kitchen and cook something." she asked with a gentle smile.
