When Kelly had gotten the news about Bobby she had been devastated. Her mind and body had gone numb, and she had been so broken about it, that she took an indefinite leave of absence from the Institute and made her way to Boston. The blond knew that his parents had disowned him, but she thought they deserved to know that their son, her fiancee was gone. Every time she thought of that, her throat closed up and couldn't stop the tears. Blue eyes strayed to the ring on her finger and she nearly doubled over at the pain. But she had to be strong, they didn't know her, but they would have been her family too, had he not..... What happened when she got there stunned the breath out of her. They hadn't even let her in the door, blinked at her when she told them, and then closed the door in her face. She couldn't believe it. She just stood on the front porch and tried to fathom how a family could act as if they had just been told a random stranger was dead. As if it wasn't any big deal. Maybe they just didn't want to grieve in front of her, that could be it, they didn't know her and the first time they'd met she told them some devastating news. She hoped anyway.
Anything after that was a bit hazy. Kelly knew she'd walked around aimlessly for quite sometime. Honestly, she couldn't even tell you how she had come to be sitting in a bar with a shot of tequila in front of her. It was a well known fact that the woman couldn't hold her liquor. She'd get drink of half a wine cooler if given half a chance. But there was, staring down at the tiny glass of tequila. One little shot, what could it hurt? She took the shot and started coughing immediately, her eyes began to water and it was now proven that she wasn't a drinker. The young gymnastics teacher didn't even remember motioning for another one, nor did she notice the skeptical look the bartender gave her. The haunted look in her eyes and the fact that she didn't take her eyes off the ring on her finger must have been a clue. He'd keep on eye on her, but she looked so lost and alone, he wouldn't deny her the next shot. He set the glass in front of her and once more she just stared at, as if trying to decide if she was actually going to drink it or not. The bartender was prepared for this to become a ritual if the girl didn't fall off the bar stool first.
