"Excuse me, Miss, you can't go that close..."
Sage gritted her teeth in irritation, then turned around to face the security guard, a false smile on her face. "Oh, remember?" she asked sweetly. "I was given special permission for research purposes."
Well, not really, but it helped to be a telepath. The security guard believed she did now, and that was all that mattered.
"I apologize, Miss Tessa. I'll let you back to your work."
Sage waited until he turned around and left before she turned back around to the wall that she had been studying. It had been brought from Egypt, not long before the awakening of Apocalypse. But that wasn't what interested her. It was the hieroglyphs across the bottom. They had yet to be translated, but Sage recognized the symbols- the same ones that were in Famine's base.
She gently traced her fingers across the stone, frowning. "En Sabah Nur..." she muttered aloud, pulling a camera out and taking a picture of the hieroglyphics. Not that it was necessary considering she had a photographic memory, but it was best to have multiple copies. When she got back home, she could increase their size and print them out to work on a translation...
Home. Sage sighed, resting her face in her hands. That's right, there was no home anymore. Just a destroyed mansion and space borrowed from the Hellions.
She shook her head, then slid her hands down and leaned her head back, stretching out her neck. She might was well go- the British Museum was about to close, anyway. She should go back to her hotel and get some sleep (Sleep? What was that? She could barely remember the last time that she slept), but she knew the only thing that she would end up doing was to go back to her hotel room, down some coffee, and work on finding a way to defeat Apocalypse.
