The sun was high in the sky, the weather was, very considerate. Every few moments Magnus was forced to bring a little handkerchief to his forehead, just to dab away the beads of sweat.
He looked to the window, it was already open, not much he could do to ease the heat now, short of taking off his shirt, he had already removed his tie and opened the top button. But he was, perhaps a bit old for the no shirt look, and his back was only stick to his leather chair. No, he'd get a cold drink later and he'd be fine. It was almost evening already, only a few more hours until it cooled off.
Until then however, Magnus had some paper work to do, taking his pen back, well pulling it towards himself, he was writing up a test for next week, and he had a sneaking suspicion someone would be failing it.

So life at the mansion wasn't all training and honing your powers, but there was also school. Yeah, Rogue used to cringe at the thought when she had first arrived at the mansion last year, but it wasn't long before she realized that an education was important and the fact that Professor Xavier and Magnus Lehnsherr was giving her higher quality of education than that in a public school for nothing, she really did appreciate it. Until it came to the actual work. Most people have it their head that people from the south weren't the brightest in the head, but Rogue proved other wise by doing exceptionally well in all her courses. However, like every student, there were times when she ran into trouble and she ran into it a lot with Mr. Lehnsherr's Physics lessons. That's what his office hours were for, to come and ask him for help and that's what Rogue did.
"Knock, Knock," she called tapping her knuckles on the door frame to let him know she was present. Her notebook and text book in the other hand, the girl strolled on into the office, her free hand clenching her blouse collar and she fanned herself with it. "Woot, kinda hot today ainit? I'm sweatin like a piggy roastin ova a barbecue. Ah, now I'm kinda hungry just thinkin 'bout it now," she laughed lightly. "Ya got a minute, teach?"

Magnus let his attention go from the paper to the door when he heard not only someone knocking at the door, but also saying "knock knock." Even if he didn't recognise the voice, the list of people who would say "knock knock" on his list where very few to say the least. But she made her way in, the unknown leader of Genosha was careful to turn the test he had been working on upside down, didn't want her getting any sneak peeks.
Regardless, he arose from his seat to welcome her in, a short smile on his face. "Yes Rogue....teach...has a minute. Have a seat." he offered, gesturing to the seat at the opposite side of his desk, giving her a moment to take the offered chair, before resuming his own seat. "What is it I can help you with?"

"Great, thanks. Sorry if I'm buggin' ya or anythang, but uh...I have some questions 'bout ya lecture on Thermodyanamics..or howeva ya say it. Most da stuff ya teach ain't nothing but tongue twistas ta me anyway..." she said taking a seat and yelling her notebook on his desk.
" Aight...na, what I wrote down from ya words was that if two thermodynamic systems are separately in thermal equilibrium with a third, they are also in thermal equilibrium with each other. If we grant that all systems are (trivially) in thermal equilibrium with themselves, the Zeroth law implies that thermal equilibrium is an equivalence relation on the set of thermodynamic systems. This law is tacitly assumed in every measurement of temperature. Thus, if we want to know if two bodies are at the same temperature, it is not necessary to bring them into contact and to watch whether their observable properties change with time..." she blinked at her notes and then rubbed her temples.
"Ya see, I dun read this stuff dozen of times, but it still don't make no sense ta me. Can ya put that in simpler terms?"

Magnus sat back with a little sigh of interest, oh bless. She had quite a mouthful....although if she was having difficulty in remembering the word "thermodynamics" then it would be no surprise that she was having difficulty with his classes, which were, arguably quite advanced, in fact, very advanced. If that Baxter Building Think Tank had access to the information in his head, they'd be decades ahead of what they were at now.
But that was neither here nor there, young Rogue needed help with understanding his class, he he tried his best to break it down to the very ABC's of it. When he had gone over it, something else came to mind. "I do not generally try give one student an extra edge over others, but it does not take our good principals telepathy to tell that you are trying your hardest in my class, even if it does not always show off. But when the ability to put in the hours is present, everything else can be helped." he informed, while stepping up from his desk, he turned his back on the Southern Belle, so he could look through a bookshelf at his back, reaching to the top, and most rarely visited row of books, he pulled one he only really had because he liked the look of it, it was basic for him.
"Some further reading, this is a book just called Physics, second edition its by a man named John Walker, its really only for beginners, which you are certainly beyond, but some of its higher points should give you a better understanding of your basics. Things tend to come together more easily when you have a solid foundation." he informed, wiping dust from the book so he could pass it over, surely an avid learner like herself would dig into it well, not like some of the other students. He could only imagine the roll of the eyes young Pixie would have given him.

At first Rogue was kind of offended by the fact that Mr. Lehnsherr had given her a Physics book for beginners, but she knew where he was coming from. Besides, sometimes going back to the basics and picking up what you didn't get before did help to excel further in any subject really.
"Again, I say thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I know you'ra busy man an' all..." she smiled staking the book on top of her regular text book and notebook. "So, what'cha got planned for the rest of the day? You gon' be stuck in here slavin over paper work? I know it's hot out now, but the evenin' is a different story." she shrugged. "Not tryin to dig in ya business, just curious."

"Your are as always, very welcome, young Rogue." he replied, sitting back into his chair, content with himself that he had aided bring enlightenment to a young girls day, always the teacher, Magnus.
"Worry not, I shall take care of this work and enjoy other business later, myself and Charles are having a game of chess, I have a suspicion I know how he beat me in our most previous games, but I'm not one to go calling him a cheater." he smiled, joking of course, Charles would never read his mind over a game of chess....well actually something as trivial as a friendly game of chess was arguably precisely what he'd use his telepathy to cheat at. But still, Charles wasn't one to read minds at all, not when it was unnecessary.

"Young? Heh, I ain't that young...but I guess compared ta ya and the Prof's age..." she chuckled. "Don't take it personally, I mean no disrespect ta ya. I mean, how many guys can say they still got a 8 pack at ya age? And I'm not talkin 'bout beers either" she winked.
"Ah, chess. I guess if that's ya way of havin' a good time. I don't think the Prof is one to really cheat either. I ain't that good at the game maself. I'm more ofa cards kinda gal."

Magnus watched as Rogue verbally fell over herself, like something from a movie, trying to not cause offence with an innocent comment and then...making comment on his physical condition. Note to self, make suit more padded. "Well I'm sure if more men my age put in the hours required they would too."
"Cards? I never could truly enjoy them, such a reliance on hope, as good as you are at hiding what hand you have, if you are not dealt a hand that can win, you more then likely are not going to win." Other note to self, make sure that Linton-Davis boy isn't trying to set up another strip poker ring. "Chess...now there is a game for kings."

"Well I can't really argue with ya last statement, teach. I mean as little as I know bout that game, I know it's frequented by them intellectual and upper class folk. That includes royalty from them centuries passed. And back in them days when they burned people to the stake for bein a lil diff'rent." she said looking up at her instructor and then holding up her gloved hands.
"Heya Mr. Lehnsherr, have ya eva wished you were normal? I mean, that ya weren't a mutant? I know you and the prof always tell us to embrace who we are, but it's easy ta say that when ya don't put nobody out with just a handshake. I neva really tell anyone how I feel, but I figure I can trust you."

Ah yes....the have you ever question. A question that often came from the young, it was expected their would be some insecurity about being different in their unique ways. He gave another sigh, this one different, as if to say "Child, I knew this was coming one day."
"No Rogue, I have never regretted being a mutant. It is who I am, has it brought me suffering in my life? Of course. But the real source of pain in my life to do with being a mutant is because humanity is not ready. They lash out at what they don't understand, what they fear. I shall pretend that I understand what you are going through, because I do not, my powers have never restricted me to wearing gloves and long sleeves at all time. But your powers can be controlled, I know it. I have dealt with, some very powerful mutants, who's powers could wipe out entire cities." His mind wandered back to Wanda and Bennet, even Polaris and himself. "But if their powers can be controlled, so can yours. But you will need to be brave, and strong. The younger students need you to be strong as much as you need yourself to be strong." As he spoke, he stepped up from his seat, walking around the table, he made his way behind Rogue, placing reassuring hands on her shoulders. With the sleeve of her yellow top, their was no risk of skin to skin contact, not that it would matter. Magnus's knowledge of mutagenics was sufficient, he knew his ability to manipulate his own magnetic aura would protect him. But still, the girl needed reassurance.

"I hope ya right..." she said hoping that she would be able to control her absorption abilities. Her powers were apart of her and she should embrace them because of that...easy for a guy to say who can touch people. She looked up and gave him a smile...it was faked seeing as how she felt at the moment, but at least he attempted to cheer her up.
"I think I better get goin now. Gotta get started on dir here readin, then where ever the night takes me. It was good talkin to ya, Mr. Lehnsherr. Thanks a lot." she said grabbing her books and exiting the office.
