Xavier sat still in his office, he was working on the school's financial planning and what they could afford in the budget this year but his mind wasn't really on it. The team were on a mission in an apparent city of Mutants and Erik had led a team in to go and help those poor people. Xavier would be assisting them telepathicly but he knew how much Erik disliked him reading his mind so he thought he'd let his friend and co-worker take charge on this one.
He scratched the back of his bald head and took a sip of water before looking down at his work again and deciding whether or not they could afford a new computer system for every class room and still be able to house the amount of students they planned to take on this term.

Magneto, still wearing his full costume after the battle in the city, came into Charles office in a manner that could only be described as barging, he was without question, livid.
"Charles! I assume you felt some form of psychic backlash after today's death toll! This is it Charles, what I always said would happen has come. The humans have discovered us and they have made a declaration of war!" he informed, standing before his old friends desk, eyes beaming out from the helmet.

Xavier was actually surprised when Magneto stormed in, he hadn't detected anyone coming...then he saw it, that helmet he was wearing, he some how blocked out his ability to read his friend's mind, whilst he found it a little unsettling he understood he wanted a guarantee of his own privacy.
Xavier looked up and registered what he'd said. He hadn't known what had been happening...had made sure he wasn't prying in to his friend's mission just has he felt he would have wanted "Erik...calm down, speak slower, I was keeping my mind intentionally out of that area....what happened? have a drink and steady your nerves" he said as he went and poured his friend a glass of water

"It was a slaughter Charles....this group....Hydra. They were trained, well equipped. It was a military group. They killed off over half of the biggest group of mutants on the planet, the end figure was three figures." He informed, taking the offered drink, although this was a problem that water wouldn't fix. It was a bloodbath they were talking about, not a friend who was roughed up by some gang.

A Military group...this was most disturbing, and the death toll was in the hundreds, it was disgusting and Charles put a hand on the desk, he let out a breath...he had to think. Someone was hunting mutants, someone well equipped and many of their already tiny number had been wiped out because of them.
Then teh thought entered the head, the students! were they okay? he'd never forgive himself if they were part of the death toll, he'd trained the X-men to deal with dangerous situations but still they were little more then children. After a few moments of silence he asked "The...the students, how are they? did they all come home safely?"

"The students are fine Charles, it would seem the group were expecting to fight a weak rabble of confused and scared victims, they were totally unprepared for the X-men. Although they did deploy some psychopath in some super suit of mega armour, that was problematic, but they managed to defeat that too." he continued, but this was not easing him in anyway. The resources they must have had to make an attack of that calibre was maddening. "Some of Ms. Frost's students were there too, it would appear she has her own X-men."

They needed to fix this, at least none of the students were hurt...perhaps he should try to make contact with Emma Frost, see if she had any leads on these mutant killers. They couldn't let this go, they just couldn't....it wasn't right and the Morlock's needed justice.
Looking back up to Erik he spoke in a calm manner, as if he was dishing out some sort of minor request or some sort of regular school happening "Okay...Whilst this mutant killing business is being dealt with I don't want the students leaving the school grounds...we need to find out who did this and bring them to justice...I doubt the government will aid us so I think it'll be up to us. I want to see the people who perpitrated this put in prison...this could very well set relations between us and the outside world back to the stone age and I don't want the students here hating the world at large for this group's actions"

"Oh they have faced punishment. The sewers were stained with human blood as well! he continued, turning back to face Charles, so relaxed even now. "Let us not be distracted from this, they have started war on us, and you can be sure the Government will not aid us! We must strike back! I shall not allow happen to mutants what happened to the Jews or the blacks or the countless others humanity has turned the sword of hatred against." he nearly spat it.

Charles frowned deeply, this was territory he didn't want to venture in to...he knew what Erik wanted to do right now, he wanted to go out and take over the world, he seemed to think the only way to change the world was to do it by force. This is where he and his friend differed, he hoped though this was just his anger talking...he needed to calm the man down.
He was wrong about humanity, they had done bad things...genocide and war were oh to often the case in history but they were mentally evolving...they were becoming more understanding of different things and it was only time that they'd be able to co-exist with mutants "Erik, please...don't talk like this, we can't fight against the humans. We can intergrate....Humans are only ignorant, they do not deserve to be punished for that, if you do what you talk about then you become no better then the people you hate, you might as well be one of those HYDRA people"

"Integrate? Only ignorant? It was genocide Charles! Absolute genocide! We cannot allow this school to be next, if the Morlocks could be discovered, what will keep them away from here!" he replied, turning away from Charles, not sure where he was looking, his eyes danced over several things, but really it was just something to look at for a moment. How could Charles be this forgiving? This weak!

Xavier knew he had to keep calm in this situation, there was no need to become histerical. Erik had jumped to the conclusion that it was a mass human conspiricy against Mutant-kind but Charles Xavier wouldn't jump to such conclusions...he couldn't. It would devestate his carefully laid plans.
He let out a breath and turned away from Erik for a moment, looking out of his window at the greenery of the gardens, he turned again to regard his friend and said "We don't know who attacked the Morloks beyond the name HYDRA...and I don't believe they are a threat to us...if they came through the Morlok tunnels then they'd be met with the subbasement's defenses...and if they step foot inthe mansion I can make everyone of them unconsious so they can be contained and delivered to the right authorities...what we need to discover is who our REAL enemy is, who is running this HYDRA."

"Don't be naive Charles, it doesn't suit you! How could a group be so well organised, so equipped, so precise in its attack and the Russian! He was wearing a suit of armour of technology I've never seen the likes of, experimental military equipment. You must see it Charles, the proper authorities won't keep these men in prison. These were agents of the government itself!" How many millions if not billions would need to spent to produce a small army that well trained and equipped? Again, the Russian being the main intake of money.
"Look Charles, look out onto that lawn, will you allow the grass to be stained with the blood of the students? Will you turn the gardens into a grave yard!?" Magneto continued, walking towards Charles desk, a letter opener catching his attention.....

Charles raised an eyebrow when Magneto started talking about how the group had to be military, due to the fact that they were highly trained, had hi-tech equipment which was hugely expensive and probably only prototypes. If it was any other situation it sounded like they could be discussing their own team "Look where we are Erik...we arn't a military force, but downstairs we have a danger room, we have Cerebro and we have a Military Stealth jet under our basket ball courts. Your telling me that we are the only people who could aquire such things?
When Erik told him to look at the grass he couldn't help but turn, he was worried about the situation as well but he couldn't let it turn violent, not just because he didn't believe that fighting would solve anything but also because Erik was foolish if he believed they could actually win. He stayed with his back facing Magneto as he continued to look out of the window.

Excuses, excuses! Was that all Charles was good for? Was he going to shirk away from their duty to the rest of their people so quickly? Was he that weak? Then he was useless! Magneto focused on the letter opener, the small, unassuming thing. With a wave of his hand it rose to the air, point facing the air, spinning around until with another motion it flew towards Charles, aiming straight for the base of his spine. "If you will not walk by my side to the future, then so be it!" spat the enraged German mutant.

Xavier stood looking out of the window for a moment, the unnerving part was the silence but Xavier didn't believe he was in danger, he didn't read his friend's mind, he didn't have to. He knew the man was like this when angry but he would soon see sense, though it was a little worrying that he'd been this overt about it, planning war on the human race.
It was then a small noise got his attention but as he begun to turn around he felt a sharp pain in his back, for just a moment before a strange numbing sensation came over his body, he managed a half turn as he fell to the ground the letter opener still lodged in his back. He gasped in pain staring up at the man he respected and had been great friends of for years. All he could manage out was "E-Erik"
