Hmm...that story was a little strange, considering the school had only been open two years...but he decided to let it go, after all it could just be a simple mistake and he'd hate to press on it only to find out she had some hidden past that she was uncomfortable sharing with people.
So it was control she was after? well that was fair enough, everyone could use a little control when their powers first manifested...Scott still hadn't learnt it and he was thinking that maybe he never would. Smiling he said "If you don't mind...may I ask, what exactly can you do?"

Emily smiled shyly. As she was learning every day, it was what could she do any more- it seemed before she could do anything, almost as if she were the most powerful person alive, now she seemed to be strong, but no where like she was. "Well, I'm powered by the sun, so with out it I can't do much for long. But I can harness the sun to make powerful bursts of energy, I can also mildly telekinetic, and I have a slight healing factor as well as being able to break down objects and scatter their atoms into thousands of different dimensions." The girl twirled a lock of her hair and gave a sort of lop sided half frown. "But the whole sun thing has it's down sides too, If I touch some one for to long I can give them a 'sun burn'. And my body temperature is higher than normal, even a short touch is very hot." She felt sort of awkward talking so much about these powers, even if they were hers, they were stolen from some one else. "So, what can you do?"

Woah...she was pretty powerful, and powered by the sun? though the downside of not being able to touch people must suck...maybe he should introduce her to Rogue, the pair would have a lot in common...well what with the not being able to touch anyone.
He smirked to himself when she asked how his powers worked. He tapped his visor and said "Well you can't see because of this but I shoot optic blasts...or lasers from my eyes. I...um well I can't really control it, so professor Xavier made me a pair of glasses and this visor made out of Ruby, so it keeps the blasts from getting out and hurting anyone.

"That's brilliant." She said looking him over. That power seemed familiar, as a mater of fact so did that visor, she just couldn't place who she'd seen wearing it. Perhaps it was this guy's son, who knew. "I'm sure it can get in the way a bit, but you seem pretty powerful having hat sort of gaze." Though the down side of that seemed pretty harsh too, just staring at some one could kill them, imagine what it must have been like when that sort of power suddenly turned on.

Scott smirked, well yeah...the optic blasts were pretty powerful, he did put a big hole in that robot in the danger room, that was pretty awesome, he did wonder if his power would increase in strength...that would be a little scary if it did as it could already rip through buildings like they were made of paper.
When she finished he shrugged in responce "It's not bad I suppose...but the thing is it kind of limits my powers to being a weapon...unless of course I want to be a world class welder heh...but it's more of an annoyance now then anything, the ruby quartz in my eye wear makes everything tinted red, so some colours are harder to distinguish between.

She chuckled a bit when he mentioned being a world class welder. "I'm sure you'll start to get used to it, I assume any way." Emily was starting to feel a little better, at least if she had to be stuck in the past she was stuck with pleasant people. That wasn't so bad. Smiling a bit she took a deep breath and stretched. "Today is really pretty isn't it?"

Well she was laughing, so he assumed she was lightening up a little bit....this was good as Scott didn't want people being socially awkward around him, he was socially awkward enough with new people. He seemed to be getting better now...probably because most of the new people ended up in his and Jean's team, he couldn't afford to be awkward. When she mentioned the day he looked out and let out a breath before nodding an agreement "I know...I think maybe they picked the site because of the nice views you get when the weather is good...what's the weather like where you're from?"

"Rainy mostly." She said with a nod. "But we get or share of good days, when fortune smiles and summer is on our side." Emily grinned thinking about home. "But it's green year round." It'd been a long time since Emily had graced the Emerald Isle, what with School being in New York, then being the ward of Dr. Doom in snowy Latveria. "You?"

"Well... he begun, wondering how to describe where he was from, there was a bit of a mix...after all there was a lot of snow...but there was also a lot of greenery. He wasn't often he thought of home but right now he sort of missed it...the state of Alaska was a bit more...picturesque then New York though granted there was more to do here. "I'm from Alaska, so it's all very pretty...big ol' mountains, lot's of snow....but a lot of greenery too. It's a nice place to live...if you don't mind being more or less on top of the world

"Wow Alaska, that's pretty nice." She said, wondering what'd be like to go there. "Don't you guys have a few months where it never gets dark?" Emily had heard a lot about Alaska but really had never gone there, it was one of those places some of her college friends had wanted to go, but gave up on in favor of heavy drinking and a trip to the beach.

Yeah...Alaska was nice, he should really go back there and see his home town again next time he had some time off...maybe take Jean or some of the other X-men, it sure was a better looking place then the state of New York. Scott chuckled when she mentioned the time when the sun didn't set. He nodded, but it was the memory of something that was happy...though at the time was extremely annoying.
"Yeah but believe me....that stops being interesting after about a week...then it's just all, 'Darn I need some heavy drapes...' it's like getting to sleep right now...and then you've got that bit of time where it's dark, that's when the Vampires come and get us he smirked at his little Vampire joke and gave a small wink just in case she thought he was being serious.

Solaris chuckled at his joke. "Where I'm from we worry about the leprechauns stealing our pots of gold. But their pretty easy to spot, y'know, since they wear bright green in the grey mist." The girl smiled. Emily wasn't sure if she should go about telling people where she was from, seeing as by this time she wasn't even sure if her parents had met yet. If some one found out she didn't really exist yet that might make things complicated.

Ahhh...so she was Irish? he smiled and nodded showing he understood...it was interesting that so many different nationalities came to the Xavier institute, there was a lot of mixture of people...granted most were from the States but you had Pete from Russia and this girl from the UK...he thought there were one or two Japanese students running around but he wasn't totally sure on that, after all he didn't know them very well. Scott decided to ask more, he was getting better at this whole 'talking to strangers' thing, mainly thanks to a recently confidence boost he'd recieved. "So...what's it like living over there in Britain"((OOC:Oh yes....phear his mighty Geographic knowledge ))

Emily smiled, tilting her head to the side. When she was younger she might have taken offence to being called british, being from the Republic of Ireland and such, but these days she and Sophia had learned to just remind people. "Well, I'm not to sure, but the Republic was always fun, the weather was nice to go out and work out in. Well, when it wasn't raining of course."

By the way she looked at him he decided that he'd made some sort of mistake...when she mentioned the Republic that's when it hit him, oh...she must be from somewhere different. He blushed a little and scratched the back of his head, she was letting him roll with it though...which was good, so he didn't really have to apologise.
He nodded to her and decided to ask, though the question was already fairly much a given...or not, depending if he got this infomation wrong as well "Oh...does is rain a lot there?"
