So, I'm 18 in real life, I'm abit of a party type of guy and my friends know me as a bit of a flirt; but on the more secluded side of me, I am a MASSIVE nerd. I love Superhero related things, and I think comics are totally becoming mature these days, like some Daredevil comics I've read (Daredevil being one of my fav heroes) actually shocked me at how mature it was.
Anyway, anyone got any favourite (excuse my australian spelling) comics? I'm currently reading the Civil War comic as I've been playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.

Civil War is always great it's where I started. The logical next progression I'd say would be World War Hulk and then Secret invasion. Marvel Zombies is great as well but that's mainly due to comic effect. Oh! and speaking of zombies try to pick up Walking Dead if you can. Best books I've ever read, mainly because if you read a super hero book you can be pretty sure that the main chars will come out fine in the end. They seem to be willing to kill off anyone in Walking Dead so it takes you by surprise.

I'm totally shocked at how much more brutal the Civil War is in the comic than it is in the game. I enjoy how alot of the heroes are incredibly conflicted with their ideals and whose side they should fight for. I mean, you're asking for controversy pitting Team Captain America against Team Iron Man.
I've always disliked Cap, just because I feel he is (excuse me for saying) American propoganda. Although, I totally sided with him in the Civil War. Stark/Iron Man turns into a massive wanker in that comic.
Whats the World War Hulk about?
Edit: Spelling...I was clumsy.

I agree LG I think Marvel had some of the best story lines in the 90's.
The 1999-2001 IronMan was the best in his entire series I believe. It was like they found the right balance of play boy, douche bag, millionaire and super hero.
I also dig though Namor all through out 1988- 1997 great work there.
For the newer comics I've really been into Star Wars Legacy.
Though I lost touch with Marvel midway through the 'Secret Invasion' arch and WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED WITH THE WHOLE NORMAL OSBORN CRAP IN DARK REIGN!?
*spoilers here highlight to read* THEY KILLED THE SENTRY! HIS FREAKING WIFE KILLED HIM!!! How could they do that only 8 issues into the Dark Avengers? *spoilers end here*
Yes, back before this stupid "complexity madness" took over. I blame reality television and dramas like the crime ones and such, they take shit to this ridiculously complex level that comes off looking silly. Save that for The Young and The Restless, keep that out of other stuff, like cartoons. There is a difference with maintaining realism and complexity. It seems the more you cram stuff in, the more the audience applauds and loves it! Take movies for example, in every Horror film we get the killer explained so much we even know which brand of coffee he/she prefers. Bleh... Marvel goes with the flow. If people are watching reality television and mind numbing stuff like The Hills for its overly complex nothingness, comic books will follow. This may or may not explain why Tony Stark went from balanced to complete asshole in 2.3 seconds, which is stupid considering they had a good thing going. It reminds me of armies who win victory after victory, then for some reason decide to do something different which royally screws them over. They may come back, but it wasn't necessary! Honestly, I never was big into Namor. The anti-hero thing was cool, but I tend to be more of an Aquaman kind of girl myself. Been a while since I've read a Star Wars comic, mostly read the extended universe novels. I do recall some issues in Nintendo Power, mostly dealing with Shadows of the Empire. BAD. ASS. That is all I can say about that game and novel, as well as comic. Marvel does gimmicky stuff like that all the time, just give it a while. He'll be back, nobody dies forever in these comics. It is really stupid, at least to me, to kill somebody off and bring them back... yet continue to attempt dramatic effect with the threat of lingering death. And that is bad! It means your credibility - the basis of all creation - is tainted. At least DC's Superman died once; so if he died a second time, I might be shocked. Seriously, maybe if people stayed dead like Uncle Ben (knock on wood), it'd be cool. But I just shrug off people dying in these comics, they don't stay dead and come back for a cheap plot trick. As for Norman Osborn. I don't know, he's gone from bad ass to just an ass.[/ul]

Maxium Carnage is a good comic, no doubt about that. Carnage is one of the most pure evil villains in the entire universe of Marvel. And the prospect of Venom and Spiderman teaming up is awesome for anyone.
I'm currently beginning to read Ms. Marvel comics, as I find her entire persona to be pretty interesting.
Still, the best comics I've read is the issues of Daredevil where Matt is locked up in Rykers for being accused of being Daredevil. Without spoiling anything, I just love how his character becomes so much darker and violent.

I really Dig Ms. Marvel. Her being a widower in the late 90's comic was just amazing. She was great as an alcoholic. Plus she's got the right amount of tough girl with out being a feminist.

So, effectively I've read these Ms. Marvel comics so far...
- Best of the Best - Civil War - Operation Lightning Storm - Monster Smash - Secret Invasion
I've got to say, Monster Smash has got to be easily the weirdest of all of them, but nonetheless exciting. I had many WTF? moments with the whole Cru and Carol relationship and then the entire thing with the Brood Queen. I also enjoyed the Civil War comic from her point of view as it showed how conflicted she was with having to round up Arachne and Shroud, and then the whole thing with Rogue and Warbird. Weird!
Funniest of all, is how many hooking up/sex/dating references she makes in the comics. In Best of the Best, how she asks Cap for back-up, he tells her to call the Fantastic Four and then she goes on to say that it would be awkward with Johnny Storm after their weekend in Las Vegas. That made me laugh.

Got a quick question, are the Iron-Man comics worth reading? If so, which issues would you recommend reading? I enjoyed reading about his character during the Civil War and he makes quite a few appearances in the Ms. Marvel comics; so it made me wonder if I should pick up one of Stark's stories.

His main line at the moment is brilliant, Iron Man knows Osborn and his lot are chasing after him, but he also knows that if they do catch him, which they eventually will, he knows too many secrets, so he's destroying himself, mentally at least. Literally deleting information from his brain (which he can do, being a cyberpath these days), he's very much going back to beginnings.

I would say from 1996- Secret Invasion Iron Man is one of the best. But this Dark Reign Ironman is CRAP! He's like a pansy sneaking around with a porn stache!
