First and foremost, this is similar to Lifeguard's thread, but not the same.
When you play as the characters you have, what exactly are you basing their personalities off? It doesn't have to be something that already exists, in fact, it could be a experience you may have personally endured when you were younger? It's a really interesting topic and I'd love to hear feedback.
I'll start.
Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers
She is my most difficult. Essentially, I'm playing Carol Danvers pretty much exactly to how she acts in the first few issues of her Volume 2 comics (Best of the Best, Civil War, Operation Lightning Storm). Yet, because she is much younger in this, I'm trying to lessen her maturity (as you may have seen with the whole drama of Chance) and have her try and run away from her problems. Which is in fact, what she used to do in her earlier comics when she resorted to drinking and had that massive problem. Obviously, I'm steering away from the whole Kree kidnapping and Binary things, as that is too farfetched for this site.
Fury/Benjamin Lake
It was weird, I originally intended to base him off the Prince in the Prince of Persia Game (The 4th one). The wise cracking, witty retorts and rather ignorant Prince who loves a good time and doesn't really think before he speaks. Now, I suppose he is still kind of in that area, but a lot more laid back.
The other two characters I have, Vanish and Howl, aren't really that very exciting. Although, I did base the relationship Hayley has with Sally on the movie, I Am Legend. The dog being her only companion...so on and so forth.

- Elisabeth Paige Guthrie (Husk)
Paige is basically her canon self, but younger and with a first hand Kentuckian sound. I, being from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, can post how I hear folks sound.
Also, she's a bit more critical of herself and things. Not to the point she'll be a jerk, but enough that it causes some inner turmoil.
- Heather Cameron (Lifeguard)
Heather is her canon self with adolescent angst in her. I also have Lifeguard more of a logical thinker, so much so that it makes her emotionally cold at times. Also, she has to deal with the reputation her brother Davis may taint her with, which has her being an overachiever in terms of academics.
She too is critical, but from this stand point: "If you can't do it, don't come. If you're scared, get over it." Which makes perfect sense in terms of missions and such, but everyone around here is thinking in emotional sense, and this comes right back to her.
- Lorna Lehnsherr (Polaris)
Lorna is a mixture of three things. The first being Magneto's player, and the history he has for them. This makes up about 10% of her, leaving the other 90% to be divided up between how she is in the comics, Wolverine and the X-Men, and a third as a symbol for ruling.
Magneto represents an authoritarian rule, Quicksilver represents a supporting rule, Scarlet Witch represents a no rule at all, while Polaris represents an individual rule. A rule that she feels must be obtained by breaking down the person, stripping away their indoctrination and propaganda, and then rebuilding them up as to the individual they deserve to be.
She comes off as being a witch, but it's tough love. Also, she likes to challenge people on why they are the way they are, as if to understand how they came to be at their current place. This means she'll tear away at something until an ah-ha moment comes or logic prevails.
- Lilija Eiriksson (Corpse)
My first original on this board, Corpse is basically a free spirit who gets through life day by day. Ironically she thinks in the long term but by doing so, she views no real end goal for herself. Sadly this lack of a purpose makes her go with the flow, though when in service or debt to someone, Lilija is as loyal as they come.
She's based mostly on the context of fatalism, in particular Greek tragedies.
I have a habit of picking random countries and bringing someone from them. I've seen too many Germans, Japanese, and Americans. I try to stick out and be unique, and Iceland tends to get overlooked, so why not?
- Nadifa Maha Kande (Hooligan)
My second original on this board, Nadifa is intended to go to another extreme and be bubbly, hyper, and rather silly. She's also my way at poking fun of cliche OC traits, something I've done before on other boards with my originals.
She's a pirate who served with serious sea bandits, though is more like a child playing pretend. Potentially dangerous, she sort of comes off as a pipsqueak who tends to get the most out of life, even if it means being a criminal as she was.
I had trouble deciding where she'd go, but finally settled on Xavier's. I have another OC who will be a teacher, and probably go to Xavier's as well since the Hellions have more faculty.
I chose Xavier's because she genuinely wants to do good, but at the same time struggles with her own vices. Being with the Hellions, she wouldn't have much to contrast with, seeing as Emma encourages such behavior. Naturally this gave the winning point to the X-Mansion, and with it Nadifa came.
Again, I picked a country no one does: Somalia. Also, most comic forums tend to get an overabundance of white characters, which doesn't do justice to the diversity of the world. Besides, I like to include informative tidbits in my posts, so think of it as a socio-political history lesson wrapped in fun.

Oh, good question. I don't like cannon characters as much, because there's (in my opinion) way more pressure to stick to an already written character. I decided to try Hawkeye, so we'll see how that goes, but I really haven't done that many cannons. Because really I haven't been RPing that long. This is like my second of third one with people.
Jordan- I like writing characters based of myself that have issues that I'd never have (or aren't planning on ever having). Lots of her responses come from what I'd say while also considering what I'd say if my background were different and I was always in pain.
Kara- so I have to admit that I'd just watched X-men when I wrote her bio... although her original celeb claim wasn't Anna. I came up with her powers first, and then her character (which isn't my favorite)
Peter- I haven't RPed him yet, but just messing about with him on my own and stuff. I, not being a guy, aren't as good with the male characters, but I still... might as well try. The start of the character was Peter from Heroes, and then I just messed around with him.

Alright, I've got more to add to this; obviously having more characters
Captain America/Steve Rogers[/i]
Man, this is difficult to explain. It is incredibly difficult for me to play this character properly and not desecrate it. Then again, I probably shouldn't worry as this site is a Alternate Universe. Having only read a couple of comics with Steve Rogers in it, the most prominent being the Civil War, I suppose that is where I am getting the majority of my influence from. The rock-hard, iron-willed, patriotic badass who gives soldier a new definition.
Now, remember, my cbox Cap is different to my in thread Cap. I like to loosen up abit with him in cbox. But in thread, I turn him back into the badass you know and love. Check out the Attack on Pentagon Three for a good view of him.
Beyond that, if I could kind of relate him to anyone else...I suppose my next choice would be Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Obviously, there aren't many visibile similarities between the two characters, but beneath that; their ideals are infact quite intwine with each other.
Green Goblin/Norman Osborn[/i]
Now THIS is a fun character to play as. I occasionally love to pick up the psycho types (playing a messed up Two-Face on a Batman site) and mess around with them a bit. I'd say my biggest influence for the Green Goblin is the Joker from the video game Arkham Asylum. You've probably already noticed some similarities; however, I'm adding more spice by making the Goblin a entirely different persona inside the mind of Norman (which is canonly-correct if I remember). The whole sadistic, psychotic but yet creepily sarcastic demeanour that he carries is a flipping joy to play. If you want a good thread to read, check out the Unusual Nightshift thread in New York Streets.
As far as the bond between the two characters, I've made a couple of posts where they actually have a conversation with each other; and I have to say it is a hell of a lot of fun to play around with.
I hope to continue playing as the Green Goblin for quite a while now.

Alexander Morgana:
He is actually based on a few people that I knew in real life. Living in Kentucky growing up I was able to meet some really odd people, that had that slow southern lifestyle, but being an Army brat I got really familiar with the American Army. So, I mixed my friends, and my Dad's troops to create Alexander. When I look for Muse for Alex I find it really easy, I just look up a photo of an American Military Soldier, and I pretty much find the muse to play him.
Cain Marko:
I find with Cain the more heavy metal I listen too the easier it is to play him. Motorhead is a big push for him when I'm playing him in a fight. When I'm playing him like against Kelly and Husk in the Returning thread or Xavier in Long Talk I tend to switch gears to something a bit softer, like When Love and Hate Collide from Def Leppard, or Every Rose Has it's Thorns from Poison. I have to admit the idea for him came when I saw a comic cover with Juggernaut in an X-Men uniform. So I started to think of how things might play out if he was seriously in it for the chance to change.
Lucas Waters:
I get inspiration to play Lucas ever Sunday when I watch guys like Adrian Peterson run on Sundays. Plus I also listen to a lot of Mozart, Bach, or the likes for his movements. I took the fuel of his ability from an older anime called Technoman, where the main character had the same problem as Lucas and calories.
Mr. Loudmouth Himself:
Spider-man has always been one of my favorites for the Marvel line ups. I enjoyed the first movie that they produced, but hated the second two. I'll tell you the truth, and I took this character on a whim, I didn't really know when I started to make a new character that I would be making the wall crawler. My muse for him is created in a couple of ways, he seems to get a large portion of my natural muse that is available, just cause I love the character so much. But when I find myself lacking the muse to finish posting him, I'll go get songs like Pride and Joy from Stevie Ray Vaughn, to finish him off.
Black Sabbath Iron Man:
Out of my three cannons, this is the one that I want to expand the most on. Tony Stark, first caught my interest when I watched his old cartoon back in Germany. Yeah with that cheesy theme song, I really did enjoy the shorts that they came up with him, but I will admit I lost track of him when I got caught up in Robotech. Back in the 90's I saw him again and he once again caught my eye, introducing me to characters like the Mandarin and WhipLash. Yet again I lost track of him for a while, until I picked up a comic, and I got reintroduced to the armor forced, by a different character. War Machine, I remember seeing War Machine standing in a blown open wall and reading "Hello my name is Tom, Dick, and Harry. This is my badge and these are my guns." I loved the attitude, and when I need to find the spark of Tony I go to a show that caught my interest and stole it from him before. I go back to the early Robotech series, and I watch one character. Roy Folker, that is the character format I have for Tony Stark, well minus the whole billionaire thing.
