News Report, the attack on Genosha!

Like every television in the country, in the X-Mansion Rec Room had on CNN, two days ago, Magneto, after attacking Charles and leaving the X-Mansion, had retaliated against Humankind by sinking a docked Aircraft Carrier, killing over a thousand people and nearly causing a nuclear explosion.

On CNN, the News Anchor was solom.
The nation is still is mourning after yesterday's terrorist attack, the largest on American soil since 9/11, and now the guilty party has been found, for the past several years, there have been reports of humans with extraordinary abilities surfacing all across the world. Normally, these are the reports of overactive imaginations and Tabloids, but today, we can bring you proof that these are more than just stories and they are in fact, entirely true.

These people with extraordinary abilities have dubbed themselves mutants, they are very real, and they are very dangerous.

A mutant terrorist group by the name of “The Brotherhood of Mutants” and lead by a man dubbed “Magneto” has claimed responsibility for the recent sinking of the US ship the USS Enterprise- killing all 1,437 crew members on board.

The following image was taken by one of the crew members before their death, and shows the man claiming to be Magneto apparently controlling the metal around him- including bullets that were fired at him.

The Secretary of Defense has this to say about mutants in his recent press release regarding the tragedy:

“…This, horrendous and terrible act of brutality and terrorism shall not be tolerated, especially by these so-called mutants! Satellite Images have shown us the island where these mutant terrorists are located, and we have already taken action to to bring them to justice.

Considering the highly dangerous nature of these mutants, we at the White House have decided to make use of a state of the art defense unit- the Sentinel Automaton.”

These “Sentinels” are giant, unmanned robotic units that will allow us to attack the Terrorist Island Fortress, and avoid any further loss of life to American Soldiers.

Meanwhile, protestors have already begun to gather, calling for mutants to reveal themselves to the general public…

Mutants were public knowledge, and the government already had weapons to fight them. Everything was about to change.

Jean sat on the couch of the rec room, her eyes glued to the TV screen as she watched the News cast. It had been 2 days since the incident at occurred at the mansion. The professor was still in the infirmary recovering from Mr. Lensherr's assault on him. Jean still couldn't grasp the fact that Mr. Lensherr had actually attacked the professor and now the master of magnetism had taken over a thousand lives. This...wasn't the man she knew him to be during the 2 years she had been here at the school. He was once a role model to her just like the Professor was. Now he had become a terrorist?

"This isn't happening..." she said to herself bringing a hand to her forehead. She knew Magneto was upset about what happened with the Morlocks, but she never thought he'd stoop to the level of those HYDRA soldiers and become a cold blooded murderer.

That was only half of her worries. The other half were these sentinels the government had planned to launch towards Genosha. Not to mention that the world now knew about her kind. Knowledge of mutants was now main stream and thanks to Magneto, they didn't have the best reputation. What were they supposed to do now?

[Death]

Emily had been standing in the door way when she saw the news cast. "Dear God no..." She whispered under her breath. She saw Jean sitting in the couch, she didn't know her that well but she seemed to have some idea of what was going on.
"Jean, what does this mean for us?" She asked, her head racing, they weren't going to blame the Xavier's mutants like the brother hood- were they?

[Cyclops]

Cyclops was sat next to Jean, he stared at the screen and felt the bile rise in to his throat, he was angry...mainly because he knew Leshnerr was slipping in the sewers with the execution, now he'd killed thousands of people as well as having criminalised mutants to teh entire country...and Scott couldn't help but feel a little responcible. He should of stopped him....some how, but he couldn't. It still didn't stop him feeling a little bit of guilt though.

He saw Jean slump forward so he wrapped one arm around her waist to show that he was close, he didn't like to see her so upset...but the whole school was, with this happening and Professor Xavier in the infirmary there were rumours flying around, everything from the professor was dying to the school was closing but Cyclops decided not to believe them...he was one of the leaders of the teams, he had to at least try and support the others so he said "It's okay...we'll fix this, Magneto is a problem that lived here, we can find a way to stop him..."

[Kitten]

Kitten went inside of the Rec room just enough to hear what was going on and her ears folded sadly. She then walked over to couch and then looked towards them " is it true Mr. Summers is the school really going shut down kitten has no where go if it does ?" she was actually very worried about it closing. she had heard what happened to Xavier and it did really upset her.

[Pestilence]

Megan sniffed once, rubbing at her eyes to prevent the tears that welled up in them from falling.

"Why would he do something like that? It's horrible!" she said. "All those poor people- as if the morlock thing wasn't bad enough!"

She looked over to Kitten, then gasped. "No- Xavier's can't close. Can it? There's no way that can happen!"

[Adam Warlock]

"No, they don't know about us yet. He outed mutants, he didn't tell anyone about us in the mansion." There little hideout was secure, for now. But..would paranoid people be on the look out? Would those guys from the sewers spread around that there was mutants somewhere? Who knew? It was however, a scary thought.

"Besides, the Professor wouldn't let that happen to us, right Jean?" he asked, hoping she'd give the answer he wanted, because he knew her better then anyone else in the room and her answer was the one that would refill his own faith.

[Colossus]

Piotr had stood tall and silent at the back of the rec room. Fortunately his height allowed him to peer over the others. The whole time he simply stared and couldn't believe what he had seen. This man had been a teacher here at the school, he had led them in an attempt to save the lives of the Morlock, had murdered those Hydra Soldiers in cold blood. To see someone he had lived with, been taught by and had fought alongside beome such a monster before his eyes.

"The Professor was willing to let us live with an obvious monster Adam," Piotr said in his thick accent, "I cannot believe that he could do such a thing. He is no better then those Hydra Soldiers in the tunnels, in fact he is even worse then they are. This defies belief and we cannot stand for this."

[Cyclops]

Cyclops hearded all the different opinions going through the room, he was as shocked as anyone to see Mr. Leshnerr do these things, he was one half of the team that he believed were the Mutants to look up to in the world, the two that would lead his people to acceptance and tolerance...but he supposed it still had two sides and perhaps something changed in Erik Leshnerr...made him become Magneto in those tunnels. He just snapped perhaps and this was some sort of psychotic episode.

When Piotr spoke up Cyclops raised an eyebrow. Was he actually blaming professor Xavier for this? He coughed to clear his voice, he hopd that the large mutant was just irrate with grief "Colossus...the Professor didn't let us live with a Monster...I mean hell if the world's most powerful Telepath can't tell that his friend is going to literally stab him in the back then he must have been a sudden snap...but there's nothing we can do, I mean do you suggest we all jump in the Blackbird and go after him? the giant metal Blackbird?"

[Colossus]

"Colossus...the Professor didn't let us live with a Monster...I mean hell if the world's most powerful Telepath can't tell that his friend is going to literally stab him in the back then he must have been a sudden snap...but there's nothing we can do, I mean do you suggest we all jump in the Blackbird and go after him? The giant metal Blackbird?

"Obviously Magneto fooled us all Cyclops," Piotr said as his body practically shook with rage, "and my anger is not at the Professor, it is as Magneto for what he has done. But to say there is nothing we can do is not right. Magneto is a mutant, he is one of us and no matter what they try humanity cannot solve our problem for us. It is quoted that 'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.' We cannot let this pass and even if I must face Magneto with my metal body I will. This cannot stand." Piotr had never been the most vocal of students at the Institute but something about the horror of Magneto's actions as it replayed over and over on the TV was too much even for him to witness and stay silent.

Speakin' of unity, yet dividin' us in the process." If anything, Paige did not want to be drug into this and forced to pick sides. Though it would probably happen, even people under the same banner could differ, so it would be interesting how this all unfolded. "... 'least we're safe here, reckon that's one good thing to remember."

Magneto would justify his acts, and do a good job at it. Admittedly, Paige was in reverence to the man, a man with remarkable intelligence and vast experience. Unfortunately for the Master of Magnetism, Paige had something called independent logic and would make her own choice. For now, she was sticking it out with the X-Men.

[Sage]

Sage was not in shock or disbelief, like everyone else was. She had known, ever since Magneto left, that it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. She also knew that it was only a matter of time before mutants were revealed to be general population, as well.

She didn't like having to hide, after all.

But... she had never expected the Sentinels.

"The Institute is not going to close, Kitten." she answered the young mutant. "Storm and I won't let it. And the Professor should wake up soon, and he'd never shut the Institute down."

Although she appreciated Scott's attempt to comfort her, it still didn't change her mood. So much as happened in so little time. The others asked her questions which she wouldn't be quite able to give. She would try though. "Sage is right...The school won't be closing down. The professor will make it through his injuries..." she sighed running a hand through her red hair. She glanced over at Colossus and shook her head at his words.

"Pete, Mr. Lensherr had always been a helpful and kind man...but I don't know why he would flip and go to do something so horrible. And you're not going anywhere. You're no match for him, Peter. Magneto is far too powerful for any of us." she sighed leaning back onto Scott. "Besides...its best if we keep a low profile for awhile. We need to make sure that we get ourselves together before we decide to do anything about Magneto."

[Kitten]

Kitten looked towards the people who answered her and nodded little bit towards them. She just keep her ears folded and stared down towards the ground " ok............but Kitten is still worried ...."

[Nightcrawler]

Kurt had been trying to lay low. Even with an image inducer on he still felt naked to the world; like he was hiding. So, as the television displayed the attack on Genosha, all Kurt could do was shrink back just a bit more as his holographic blue gaze watched. The young mutant was still relatively new to the school and already there could be a threat of it shutting down?

He tried not to shudder at the thought. He couldn't go back to the circus, he just couldn't! He couldn't go back to how things were before? Where would he go? Where would any of them go? The young man's holographic features creased in concern and his eyes shut while Jean spoke. He was learning about keeping a low profile, gradually leaving his room for things other than food and training. He kept his inducer on, though; knowing the reaction people generally had to him. He had thought he could gradually ease his classmates into his appearance. Seeing what was happening on screen... he didn't understand.

Maybe no one would be prepared for how he looked.

He leaned against one of the sofas' arms and shifted uneasily. "Ist zere anysing we can do?" he piped up timidly from where he watched.
