Chance led her to a table and pulled out her chair. Once she got settled he motioned for the waitress and then slid into the chair next to hers. "Not my style, just don't leave it alone. If you have to use the restroom I'll stay at the table." He looked her right in the eye to let her know he was dead serious.
"They come here in hopes of landing some rich guy." Waves his hand around the place. "They don't care how old you are here as long as your daddy has money. About half the guys and girls here's parents make no less then two mil a year. The other half are the ones that come from nothing and want to marry up. Or at least hook up with up, you know what I mean?" He wasn't lying or talking himself up, he was just telling her how the place worked.

," she said with a nod before glancing over her shoulder, only to return her focus and sight to Tamer. " Sounds... pitiful, really." Lilija could never imagine being that desperate, did people really do that here? God, for once she felt glad to be from a country where people were content with what they had, but that came to a halt the moment Corpse realized there existed another being. " Why do you come here? None of this seems much like you."[/ul]

Chance hadn't meant to get so serious, and she looked like she could take care of herself. However, she was new to the area and he wanted to make sure she understood he wasn't trying to pull one over on her. "Alright, I think we got all the completely serious necessities out of the way. Care to play tit for tat? You ask I answer, I ask you answer? Get to know each other better that way?" His head turned when the waitress showed up and he ordered a beer and then looked at Lilija. "Whatever you want, it's on me."
He nodded with her assesment about how pathetic it was. Why did he come here? "I can buy alcohol here for one. The girls know better than to overtly try anything with me, so I do get some dancing and conversation in. That's pretty much about it." All he could do was shrug at her comment about it not seeming like him. She was only half right, there was a part of him that fit in well here. "Doesn't seem like your kind of place either, what brought you here?"

" Lilija could have asked for the most expensive thing on the menu, but she had some class. Besides, letting Chance suggest something could allow her to see if he had taste - literally. " Surprise me." Hm, well, while not exactly she thought adults did, Lilija decided to go along with this tit for tat. Ask a question, get an answer, she thought. It sounded like elementary school all over again, an amusing thought the Brotherhood member entertained for just a second longer. " Sure.," she said, acknowledging and agreeing to Tamer's proposition. It kind of sounded like fun, too. Ah, so he turned the question back to her. Clever fellow, she noted. " Because I can." Yeah, it sounded arrogant, but it was the truth. Ever since coming to Genosha, Polaris was funding her little vacations and who was Lilija to say no? Certainly not contended for Miss Stupid 2009. " And to see what life is like outside of the confined coastal prison known as Iceland."[/ul]

Chance nodded and went ahead and ordered her a Grey Goose martini. He wasn't too sure how girlie she liked her drinks. Then he turned his attention to her once more. He grinned when she agreed to a question and answer session. Sure it wasn't the smoothest thing in the world, but then he had come out to relax, not to hook up.
He smirked at her reply of because I can and then frowned a bit when he called Iceland a prison. "You don't like Iceland?" He'd never been to Iceland before, but then if you grew up anywhere and never really got a chance to get out once in awhile, he'd probably not like it much either.

," she admitted. " Just think about it, you're born and raised on a piece of land only a fraction the size of most other countries, and the population is less than the calories of a salad." Okay, an exaggeration, but the truth was the country was not known for a busting population or loads and loads of people or tourists. " All you have to do is sail, fish, or sleep. Not exactly ripe for social developing, especially if you desire a live beyond this." Sighing lightly, Corpse decided to shoot a question back at Tamer, which she did with, " And you? Were you born here?"[/ul]

Chance nodded alright he could see where she was coming from. "I can see how that would make one want to get out. Like being stuck in a small town all yourself and get to the point where you'll marry the first pass through that comes along." He'd heard of a girl that did that. Their marriage hadn't lasted long but she had gotten out and now she works at a dive to pay for a ratrap apartment.
The young man grinned. "Born and raised. I think my ancestors can be traced back all the way to the founding of Boston. Entire family is from here. Thankfully there's a lot to do and we took plenty of vacations. Actually, I even Nans is from here." He got a perplexed look as if he were really trying to figure that one out. He'd have to ask her. "What do you like to do in your down time? Oh and no questions are off limits from you to me." He'd dance around the answers he might need to.

," she asked when Chance mentioned how long his family may have been in the city. " I have done very little research on my family, but what I do know is they came here from Scandinavia. Why? I honestly do not know, but at least in your case you have neighboring states." Chance wanted to know what she did, pretty common question. " Whatever I feel like, which varies." Lilija wasn't really into a select few of things, but instead did everything she deemed worthwhile. However it felt unfair to leave the answer at that, so digging deep down she added, " Paper, I work with it to make poems, stories, and art. I read, construct model boats, and study the dead."[/ul]

Chance thought about it for a minute. "A little bit of both I believe. There had been research done, but that was a few years back kind of thing." The young man grinned over at her. "Why does anyone do half the things they do? We're weird perhaps?" He chuckled and looked up as their drinks arrived. He smiled and nodded to the waitress and then looked back over to the lady across from him.
The young man just nodded figuring she wasn't one to want to really give up information about herself. When she actually did he looked back up and grinned. "Well now that's interesting. You study death? I study animals." It was true he did, but mainly because he needed to for his powers to work effectively.

" She had actually said the dead, but she did study death too. Lucky for him, she would not have to correct him. " It comes in handy, I suppose. I've always sought to be a mortician, or somebody in that field." Admitting that wasn't difficult, but would Tamer find it odd? Probably, or probably not. Lilija could only shrug it off and move on, though she figured the male wanted her to ask about his study of animals. So be it. " Animals, huh? You a veterinarian, or just an animal lover?"[/ul]

Chance studied the young woman across from him, not sure what to make of her. She wasn't flirting with him like most did, and for that he was actually quite relieved. But then she also wasn't dogging him either, for that he was even more relieved. He didn't mind be underestimated, but he got really tired of getting verbally attacked by the acid tongue of some women he knew.
"Nothing wrong with that." Some guys might think it's creepy, others are strange enough to think it's kinky. Chance just figured if you had a liking or a passion for something go for it. When she asked if he was wanted to be a vet or a just an animal lover he grinned. "Animal lover." The young man sipped his drink and thought of what he could ask that wouldn't be too personal. Lilija didn't quite seem like the type to share too much. "What type of music do you like?"

," she asked, curious to know. Lilija had read of people becoming involved with animals only after a recent event, such as hitting one with a car or watching a documentary. Some sadly did it to be a part of a fad, something the Icelander found moronically ignorant. "Like with most things, my taste is music is similar. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it. Every genre deserves a chance, same with people."[/ul]

Chance gave a small smile at her question. "From way back. Ever since I was little." It wasn't a lie, it was one of the reasons he ended up summoning Hunter the first time. "What about your interest? Was that something you'd always been into or recent?" He was talking about the dead and figured she would have understood that. She didn't seem as clueless as most girls.
"I'll listen to anything once and decide from there." He sipped his drink and scanned the crowd. A lot of guys seemed to be taking interest in Lilija. He had a feeling the girl could take care of herself but it was still making him a bit uncomfortable. He really didn't want her to have to deal with the slimeballs, not when she hadn't been here long. Bad for the city's reputation.

," she said, almost wanting to cringe from that bad joke, but she endured and looked out across the club before returning back to Chance. " Reasonable answer there, Chance. But is there something you can't absolutely stand?"[/ul]

Chance chuckled a bit at her small joke and winked at her, letting her know that it was more ironic than funny. But then he appreciated the humor anyway. "We all have our quirks. Most wouldn't assume me to like animals since I eat meat and wear leather. Now I don't hunt. At least cows are raised for that purpose, you know? But I'm rambling." He'd had to defend himself a time or two before, so he was just attempting to get it out of the way now.
"Screaming into the mic and the music drowning out the lyrics. I like a good beat and being able to hear the words. Most rap music I can't stand, because most of them are living in mansions and making millions of dollars. Yet they talk about life in the hood and all that stuff. They don't keep it real, so to speak. Just annoys me. What about you? Anything you just despise?"
