It was a beautiful Friday afternoon, the sun was shining high and brightly across the Emerald Necklace. There were a number of families and people playing, relaxing and exercising. They say that the greatest amounts of happiness cannot be found indoors, but outdoors. This place was a true testament of that saying as there was no lack of smiles on the peoples faces. Here, there was only laughter and chatter, no sorrow or negativity.
Benjamin was jogging at a fairly moderate pace. He knew he would need to keep his gifted body in shape, and the beauty of his heat giftings was that his body did not sweat, as it was used to being at moderate to high levels. He quite literally, would hardly break a sweat at high levels of exercise. He was dressed in a fairly tight white singlet and blue track shorts. he was enjoying soaking up the sunlight and the freedom he felt in the parks...

Amber had needed to get a bit of break in so she took off to the park. It was a great day for a jog and she hadn't had a really good one in a long time. Hair up in a high ponytail, spandex running shorts, sports bra, and cross trainers. The girl was ready to go. She had slid her iPod into the arm holder and had actually been there for about half an hour. Just jogging and enjoying the whole thing. She didn't really worry too much about the coolness because she'd get warmed up with her jog.
The young woman had to stop because her shoe had come untied and she didn't want to trip. Without even thinking about it, she bent over and tied the shoe. After the first shoe was tied she moved to the other one, just to be safe. There was no need to have to stop again because it came undone. Besides this gave her a chance to catch her breath before she started jogging again.

Ben was enjoying this jog in a completely genuine attitude. There was nothing cynnical or witty to say here, the place was beautiful, the atmosphere was cheerful and his body felt good. Plus, there was a lot of time to reflect whilst he was jogging. His ipod was in, currently playing Use Somebody by Kings of Leon. It made him feel...maybe a little nostalgic?
He was too busy staring around to actual look in front of him. His pace was moderate and he didn't even see the woman tying her shoes. Before he could even react, he had crashed into her; he managed to stay on his feet, thanks to his hands catching the ground, she would unfortunately hit the ground. His eyes widened at what he had done, he immediatley was genuinely concerned. "I am SO sorry! Are you okay?" He outstretched his hand to help her up, although he couldn't help but notice that this woman was incredibly attractive.

She had just finished tying her shoes when she got crashed into. Amber hit the ground, just thankfully not as hard as she could have, but she had put her hands out to break her fall. They got a bit scraped and her wrists were going to be hurting for awhile, not to mention her knees. But at least nothing was broken. The girl sucked in air between her teeth and it sounded like a bit of hiss. Nothing may have been broken but it sure the hell stung.
The stinging made her eyes water, she wasn't really crying but it looked like she might be. Blue eyes looked up at the hand outstretched to help her. She took it and pulled herself up. "I'll be fine. Maybe a little stiff and scabby, but I'll be fine. Are you alright?" She couldn't be sure if he had hit the ground or not. She wasn't sure she'd have the courage to heal him if he had something broken.

Ben quickly surveyed her body for injuries; no, not in that sleazy way. He was genuinely concerned that he may have injured the woman. Thankfully, he could see only a couple of minor grazes. She took his hand, placing hers in his, which was incredibly soft and delicate; it surprised Ben a little bit. "Unfortunately, I got off fine; no bruises at all." He made the slight joke, which basically meant he didn't deserve to get off free as he pretty much caused the accident.
He caught a quick look at her face, and ignored how gorgeous she was for the moment, he was far too concerned now after seeing her eyes. She was holding back the water works, which made Ben feel absolutely horrible. "You sure you're okay? I mean, I can buy you a waterbottle or something to make it up to you." What Ben had yet to realise was that his Ipod was on the ground behind where Amber was standing, still with Use Somebody playing. He was too worried about the woman to realise he dropped it.

Her head tilted and she gave him a small smile taking her mind off the stinging. "Not unfortunately. No need for both of us to be a little dinged up. It's nothing to worry about." She was just relieved that he wasn't severely injured so that she didn't have to heal him. It might have cost her the job and she couldn't afford to lose it. At least she didn't get the creepy feeling when he looked her over.
Blue eyes blinked several time as she tried to get the excess water out of her eyes. When the it finally fell similar to tears she wiped them away with the back of her hand. "Oh no, I'm fine. The stinging was making my eyes water. Trust me I've had worse." Though it was never hers to begin with, but she has had worse. Her head tilted when she heard the song and she grinned and she crouched down to pick up the iPod. "I usually listen to PCD or club music when I jog. She grinned up at him and then reached for the iPod.

He had only just noticed his ipod on the ground as she turned to pick it up. He was going to reach for it, but she beat him to it. He simply made a joking smile to her comment about his choice of music. "I spend enough time around those areas to get sick of that kind of music. I play piano at certain bars and cafes, and by the time I finish, most of the clubs are pumping the typical music pretty loud." And it wasn't like he was lying, especially around NYC, they loved that kind of music at midnight.
Smiling politely to her, he introduced himself by holding his hand out to shake hers. "Benjamin Lake." He didn't know if the woman would take his hand, but he had yet to be rejected before. Well, maybe he just hadn't offered too many handshakes to risk being rejected.

He played the piano? That was cool and she grinned at him to let him know that. "I figure any music that has the beat and rhythm that makes me want to dance, is good for jogging." It was true that PCD, Beyonce's Single Ladies, and a few others could really get her going. They also helped her to forget the world around her which was good for when she was jogging.
When he introduced himself and held out his hand. She held up her own in a stop sort of way. Then she reached into her fanny pack and got out some stuff to wipe off her hands. Again she sucked in a breath as it stung. After her hand dried she took his and shook. "Amber Ryan."

He laughed in amusement as she cleaned her hand up before shaking his. He realised it was a bit inconsiderate of him to expect a handshake from a grazed hand. Still, it was progress, nonetheless to have her introduce herself. "I"m surprised you didn't palm me off for a desperate male?" He quickly joked, as he was implying with a appearance of the standard of hers, she must get her number asked quite often. He would never say that aloud though, lest he risk a slap from her delicate hands.

At least it didn't hurt that bad when they shook hands, she didn't even wince. Her head tilted to the side at his question. "Depends, did you time that whole, bumping, thing? If it was an accident then no harm no foul. If you did it on purpose then that would be a little creepy." She gave him a small smile and chuckled. Why on earth he thought she'd think of him as desperate is beyond her. It's not like he was stalking her or anything. At least she didn't think he was, she'd never seen him before.
Amber backed up until she was sitting on a bench and started to tend to her knees. She knew she'd have to keep moving so that they didn't stiff up too bad. She might not have had any formal medical training, but she had a lot of experience. "I think my jogging might be done for a bit. But I'm going to have to at least walk for a bit." Most of this was said to herself as she worked on her knees. The she stood up and bent her knee as if she were high stepping. "So, hm... Nice weather we are having?" The question was asked as she looked at him and chuckled. She'd never really had an awkward meeting before, this is a first.

"My plan was supposed to include catching you before you fell, but next time maybe?" He laughed in a joking manner as a response to her question. He had to admit, it would've been pretty good if he had this all planned, but as if these kind of awkward meetings can be planned? They wouldn't be awkward if they were planned.
He watched her sit down on the bench and talk about how she'll need to move her legs around for a while, lest they stiffen and become painful and uncomfortable. She looked like she had some form of medical background, which obviously related to her healing powers, which Benjamin didn't know about; as Amber didn't know about Ben's heat abilities. With a slight chuckle, he agreed on the weather. "Yeah, it is great. It's especially great for a excuse to bump into girls. You know, knock to them ground, graze them up a bit; I tend to get a great reception with it!" Ben always prided himself on being entertaining. While most guys usually tried to show off their guns or their abilities to girls, Ben simply enjoyed making them smile.

Amber arched a brow and then just chuckled. "How about next time you just say, Hi? That way, you know in case you don't catch me and all." She just shook her head and chuckled. That would work out much better in her favor, if he just said Hi. This was going to look real good, the resident healer can't even fix herself. Unfortunately, her powers didn't work that way, she didn't have a healing factor.
The girl just shook her head and looked up at him as she stood up. "Hey don't worry about it. Kind of a bit nostalgic, like when I was a kid and would be all skin kneed and stuff. Nothing's broken and nothing is sprained. So, don't worry about it." She really hoped he wouldn't keep worrying about the whole thing. Accidents happen and they are both still alive, so it was all good.

"I wasnt worrying...Wait, I mean, not to say that I'm not concerned..." He sort of trailed off into a mumble, his mind telling him to just keep his mouth shut for a few moments and rethink what he was trying to say. He kind of awkwardly stood there, making eye contact for a few moments, before chuckling to himself. "So what do you do for a living?" He knew it wasn't nosy to ask this, as he had pretty much already told her that his career revolved around performing at bars and cafes; and a little bit of flame fun on the side to pass the time.

Amber smirked as he started trying to dig a hole while pull himself out at the same time. She couldn't stifle the chuckle that escaped. "Breathe, it's not a big deal. Let's just push past it already." She shook her head and then finally stood up again and high stepped in place to work the stiffness out of her knees. The young woman looked up at his question. "I'm a school nurse at a private school." It was a variation of the truth since she wasn't really a nurse. But she couldn't very well tell him that at least. She rolled her neck and shoulders then did a bit of stretching to work out any other stiffness. "I'm going to keep walking, if you want to continue your jog." She figured it was best to get moving again just to be safe.

(Just thought of the perfect way to get her to come to him! Hah!)
He smiled and said nothing, merely just scratching the back of his head. "Well, it was nice to meet you Amber. Hopefully we'll bump into each other again." He chuckled at his rather creative pun and turned to run in the opposite direction, but stopped before he had taken a few steps. "By the way, if you're in the area, I'm playing at the Sundown bar tomorrow night. You should drop by." He smiled once more before continuing his jog. What he had completely forgot was that Amber still had his Ipod, she had never actually given it back to him. He was too busy thinking about how good his day was getting to even think about it. Maybe she might have to drop by the bar sometime to give it back?
