Valeria was putting the finishing touches on that night's crop of home work. Work that wasn't given out to the other students. Quantum Mechanics and dealing with the Nonlinear Schrödinger equation: iψt = −½ψxx + κ|ψ|2ψ. Her father seemed bent on transforming her into the human super computer he was and all she could really do was...take it. It's not like she could fight him about it. It was really his way or...his way. She felt kind of trapped to be honest but she did her best to conceal that.
"Finished!" she cried jotting down the last number and literally face desking. It had been a long night and she really needed a break. A snack break. It was probably bad for her to eat this late at night, but whatever. Her brain was tired and she wanted food. She hopped up and walked into the kitchen hoping for it to be empty. Only to find that 3 others were present and one of them none other than her dear father.
"...Hey dad..." she said nodding to him. "Hello Miss" she looked to Amber, a person she hadn't met before and finally..."Hi Calvin" she said, covering her mouth trying to hide a girlish grin.

The more she listened to Victor talk about his daughter the more she started to feel bad for the girl. Not that he was a bad father but he seemed very controlling. Pushing his daughter in the direction he wanted and probably not too close to what she wanted. He loved his daughter she could tell that much, but the girl had to be going slightly insane and she wondered how much the girl secretly rebelled. Quietly she watched as he talked and she swallowed a sigh. "Victor, is it what she wants? Or are you trying to mold her into what you want her to be? As I said, I'm a daughter and I know that I'd be reacting quite violently if my father tried to push me in ways I didn't want to be pushed." Actually her father was quite the opposite of that and they had a great relationship. She worried that Valeria loved her father but feared him, instead of loving and respecting him. That would never turn out well.
Blue eyes looked up when the young man walked in and she gave him a warm smile. The dark head nodded when Victor invited him in. "Hello, I'm Amber the resident healer." She got up and extended her hand to the young man. Her attention was then turned to the stunning blond that walked in. As soon as Valeria said dad, and how she said it, Amber's worry increased a bit. A small smile tugged on her lips when the girl tried to hide the smile behind her hand. "Hello, you must be Valeria. As I was telling.... Calvin? I am the new resident healer." She extended her hand in order for both of the them to shake, should they chose to do so.

Mimic waited patiently until Dr. Von Damme responded to his opening greeting to the two adults
"You may join us young lad." Calvin's heart jumped slightly as the almost mechanical voice of Dr. Von Damme addressed him.
"Oh..um thank you professor." he said as he walked into the study fully to watch both of the older mutants. "Sorry I'm just not used to seeing people up at this hour usually."
Before he could say anything else Valeria entered the room as well. For a second Calvin was worried that he would start to blush. Mimic was slightly embarassed to admit it but he found young Von Damme to be rather attractive. Thankfully he was able to maintain his composure and hopefully didn't make it completely obvious to the other two, especially Valeria's father. He could only imagine what Von Damme would say about someone like Cal being interesting in his little angel. She greeted him and Calvin responded in kind before addressing Amber, the newest person for him to meet at the Academy.
"Nice to meet you Amber." he said politely, "If your the resident healer I guess you could call me the resident copy cat around here."

"Ms. Ryan, you can offer all the advice you like, but until you've been a parent, it holds little merit. Your entire mindset changes when you have children of your own. Everything changes." he informed, but the conversation had to end their, as they were joined by Calvin and...Valeria? What was she doing up at this time.
"Valeria my child, what keeps you up at this time?" perhaps surprisingly, this was not said in a agitated tone, but one of actual curiosity. He was not mad that she was up, but a girl of her age needed her sleep!

"Yep, I'm Val. Nice to meet you, mam. Welcome to the mansion!" she responded shaking Amber's hand. Then of course, her father had to speak and be nosy about why she was up so late. While Val wanted to say "I'm up because of YOU and your stupid assignments" she just smiled and yawned lightly.
"Just finished up my homework and grabbing a little snack before heading to bed." Valeria replied to her father. "Would be in bed, but...you know. That homework you assigned prevented me from getting proper rest. Forgive me if I yawn tomorrow in class?" she said then turning to give Calvin a wink.

Amber realized the conversation was over and just sighed softly. He might understand from a parent's point of view, but she understood from a daughter's point of view. She just shrugged if he wanted to push her away that was his deal. At least she'll be able to tell him she told him so.
She gave Val a warm smile and shakes her hand. "Thank you, Val." Then she looked up at the young man. "Well before you copycat me, we need to talk first." She didn't want him thinking that all she did was heal, he needed to understand the drawbacks to her particular gift. Amber sat back down and leaned back, silently watching father and daughter. She swallowed a smile at the wink the girl gave the young man and wondered how long before everything exploded.

Dr. Von Damme seemed to focus his attention on Valeria, which only reminded Calvin of the fact that she was indeed his child. That's why when she winked at him he wanted to smile and frown at the same time. It wasn't that he wasn't attracted to Val, it was that her dad was a bit intense and really Mimic knew very little about him other then the rumors and they didn't paint a flattering picture. To stop himself from staring her turned back to address the newcomer to the mansion.
"Oh of course. I tend to avoid using other people's powers without permission. Since powers are what define alot of mutants they can be sensitive about who uses their gifts."

Victor gave a nod to his daughter. "Not to difficult for my Valeria I'm sure!" he replied to her, if partly for the benefit of the other people present, he made no effort to hide the proud tone to his voice, his daughter had near mastered levels of mathematics that other children her age wouldn't even know existed until their college years, if they pursued mathematics in those years.

Valeria hid behind her smile to conceal the embarrassment she felt about her father's bragging. He wasn't full on bragging, but the comment he made alone was just....ugh. "It's not that it's difficult. It's just...never mind. I should really get to bed..." she sighed walking over to the pantry and grabbing a pack of Oreos.
"Goodnight, dad" she said giving him a light hug and then turning to Amber bowing slightly. "It was nice meeting you. Hope we can talk again. Hopefully not because I need healing." she chuckled a bit and then glanced at Calvin and nodded back to him with a small smile. With that, she turned and made her exit.

Amber just sat back and watched the interaction between the three of them Victor seemed to be proud yet stifling papa, but then she'd seen Val now and can almost understand why. Beautiful and extremely smart, a very rare combination. She looked over at Mimic and nodded. "Good because I'd hate for you to use them at the wrong time." Seriously, she didn't need a student using her powers and then suddenly being in pain and bleeding all over.
She smiled up at Val. "Well if you ever just need to girl talk, vent, or whatever feel free to stop by. It was a pleasure meeting you." Amber started making a mental wager with herself how long it was going to take the young man to leave now that Val was gone.
