Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia

- Swimming, naturally, is second nature to Heather.
- Certified to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Naturally athletic, Heather remains so despite no longer being a lifeguard.
- Science, particularly Biology, is of direct interest to Heather as it relates to and benefits her powers.
Personality:
Heather is practically the opposite of her brother Davis. Goofy and a slacker he is, she is not. Instead she prefers to get the job done and without being sloppy, though she is not above a smart remark or two or three. In fact, Heather is known for a sarcastic and demeaning streak despite her codename and abilities.
Heather is intelligent, though nowhere near the levels of Professor Xavier, Magneto, Franklin Richards, Beast, Dr. Doom, and so forth. But she is head strong enough to know what she is doing, how and what to plan, and when to execute them; Heather is a slightly above average strategist, if needed to be.
Of important note is, behind all the sarcasm and proficiency, there resides a heart of gold. If earned, Lifeguard is as loyal as they come and willing to save her teammates if necessary.
Finally, Heather views her gifts with a sort of indifference. They are only useful for others, never herself. Annoying as it is, she can only watch as those around her actually get to use their abilities.
Like her brother, Heather discovered her true heritage on the Shi'ar homeworld. There her abilities to react and respond to any situation were fully understood, as well as enhanced to respond quicker and with more control over the changes. Her reason for going was to tag along with her sibling, the only being in this world who truly understands her, and to make sure he stayed out of trouble. Unfortunately trouble wasn't looking for Davis...
Apocalypse's attack on the world took Lifeguard by surprise, so much so that she returned with Davis to the Massachusetts Academy. Upon returning, Heather still believes her talents are heavily overlooked, and is in the role of a semi-mentor. However this role is constantly challenged by Heather's decision to be a waning member of the Hellions, as recent events have forced a rift between the Australian and her team mates. It is highly suspected Lifeguard will leave the group, and form either her own band of individuals or stick it out alone.

The Mutant
Codename:
Lifeguard
Mutant Abilities:
Lifeguard is able to subconsciously manifest superhuman powers dependent on whatever is necessary to save lives in any given situation; Reactive Adaptation.
There is a possibility there exists an alternative reason for this, though it remains unknown to Heather. Rumors have circulated due to some unique markings found upon her at times, she may be of Shi'ar heritage. Nothing is confirmed at this point.
Weaknesses:
- Reactive Adaptation: Upon first hearing, this ability would seemingly make Heather into a contender for world's most powerful mutant. However her abilities are random, whatever her body deems as most useful and out of her direct control, and primarily for defensive or fleeing purposes. None of the abilities she receives are permanent, usually fading out minutes later or when the danger has passed. The only exception to this is, sometimes, especially with rapid changes, her skin becomes a golden metallic*, possibly a sign of massive cellular manipulative usage. It can last anywhere from several hours to several days, sometimes weeks or months.
Logically, whatever abilities she takes on have the obvious weaknesses they normally would possess. An example being if she grew wings, these could be made heavy with fluids or plucked out. If Heather received a healing factor, enough damage could render her unconscious or cause a biological shock due to overworking.
Finally, while she does obtain the natural knowledge of learning to use her adaptive abilities, it takes up to 3-5 minutes to fully comprehend them. If quick enough, the opposition could take advantage of this.
*Heather's metallic golden form is able to withstand bullets, knives, and some energy attacks, as well as telepathic intrusion; it cannot render her totally invincible to super strength or strong energy manipulation. It grants her enhanced strength, but nothing over 20 tons, and remarkable durability as mentioned previously. - Experience: Heather is fairly young and inexperienced, despite her being naturally talented. Her lack of first hand encounters makes more seasoned opposition or forces have an upper hand, even with Heather's unique ability.
- Situational Dependence: If there is no danger to others or herself, Heather is unable to use her powers. This makes her subject to an assassin's bullet, sneak attacks, concealed explosions, or a rapid force. Her body needs time to make the changes, and in those transforming moments, she is as vulnerable as any human being.
History:
Both Heather and her brother Davis were sent to live in Surfers Paradise by their father because he wanted them to be safe and free from his life as Viceroy, godfather of Australian organized crime. Unaware of their father's identity or latent mutant powers, Heather became a surfer while her brother became a surfer. When Heather's mutant powers came through she kept them a secret from Davis and only used them to save lives as part of her job. After their father was kill by someone named Lady Mastermind, the two of them soon became targets so they wouldn't be able to inherit his money.
Heather was forced to reveal her powers to help fight off Lady Mastermind and her group of goons. Soon after the attack, Davis and Heather found out about their father's identity and his involvement of the crime gang war going on. The two of them ventured out to try and help stop the carnage but doing so lead to Lady Mastermind capturing Heather. Davis was so upset at this, his dormant mutant abilities awakened allowing him to pinpoint her location and rescue her from the danger.
In order to escape their father's criminal life, the two of them traveled to America where they could live in peace. Shortly after arriving in the states, a woman named Emma Frost approached them and explained who she was and told them of a place for people like them. Davis was glad to hear this while Heather wasn't completely sure. Davis decided to join the school while Heather opted to just live a normal life on her own for the moment.*
Deciding her brother was all she had, Heather opted to enlist with the Hellions under Emma Frost's supervision.

"What exactly do you do?" asked a quizzical male whose name was not worth remembering, though Heather could not recall if she had asked for it or not. No matter, all he wanted was an answer to his question. That much could be given to him.
"Pretty much anything." That wasn't exactly true, but to take the time to sit and explain it to another person, well it got tiresome after the first time. The only individual she'd go into depth with would be Ms. Frost, possibly Xavier or Magneto if either struck her fancy. "Flight, strength, speed, force fields. I'm practically a walking Mary Sue."
"Mary Sue?"
"Yeah, you know. Super powerful, no weaknesses - or vague ones, those this is rare - and able to handle any and all situations." That was the basic definition, so if he could not pick up on that, well, he wouldn't get it at all. "Only difference is, I'm not someone's incarnation of terribly translated ideas. My powers are tricky, and have unspecified limitations."
"Oh, I see... so, you couldn't turn your skeleton into adamantium?"
Thinking for a second, Heather nodded. That was a good limitation to what she could do, so she agreed. "Yes, because adamantium isn't a power. It is more of an upgrade, so to speak. But in the hands of the wrong person, I could."
"That's still pretty cool. You get to experiment with all sorts of powers, while I'm stuck with just one."
"It isn't all it is cracked up to be, mate. I don't exactly choose what my body bestows upon me, it's like a game of Russian Roulette. Sometimes what I think would work, my body doesn't. It's a game of chance, and so far... I've been lucky."
