The Mutant
Codename:
Tarot
Mutant Abilities:
Psionic-Dimensional Image Materialization: Tarot has the ability to transform two-dimensional images into three-dimensional, tangible objects under her control. She prefers using Tarot cards, but can use her power with any two-dimensional image. Tarot's psionic constructs are superhumanly strong and durable, being resistant to physical damage, temperature extremes, and certain forms of energy. They can only be destroyed by a force that dispersed the majority of their psionic mass, or if Tarot herself was rendered unconscious. Tarot was vulnerable to her psionic constructs being destroyed, as the psionic feedback left her disoriented.
Tarot is now more in-tune with her powers and is now able to manifest the traits of the images on her cards. In effect, she is now much more effective in hand-to-hand combat, being able to wield the weapons or armor that her cards were equipped with. This also includes traits such as increased speed, stamina, durability, and strength- however, to use these or any other traits she must be using the card to do so.
Psychometric Precognition: Tarot posses a fair degree of precognitive ability, though it is dependent on the use of tarot cards.
Weaknesses:
Marie-Ange believes that her skills in Tarot reading is infallible- she doesn't believe that she can be wrong.
Also, she is quiet and shy, and is terrified of being abandoned.
History:
Marie-Ange was born in Lyons, France. Her parents died in an accident when she was very young, and so she was sent to live with her grandmother. Marie-Ange was very close to her grandmother, and it was from her that she first learned to read Tarot cards. Her grandmother also traveled around the world a lot, and took Marie-Ange on trips with her- sparking her love of traveling.
However, her grandmother died when Marie-Ange was twelve, and she was sent to a boarding school- L'Academie Bastille. Marie-Ange hated it there- it was very strict and a vast difference from her life with her grandmother.
Marie-Ange was very shy, but she would often read Tarot cards for her classmates. Her powers awakened slowly: at first, she was limited to only scarily accurate predictions as she read people's tarot cards.
When she was almost sixteen, though, that all had changed- she had been about to do a tarot card reading for one of her classmates when the girl dropped two cards. Picking them card up, Marie-Ange frowned: they were the death card, and the fool card. The second she grabbed the death card, however, she fell forward with a cry, holding her head. Her eyes began to glow white as the hooded figure of death pulled itself off the card. The other girl was terrified, and ran screaming from the room.
Marie-Ange had sat in shock as the black-hooded figure, identical to the one that had been in her card, turned to face her. It glanced from her, then to the fool card in her hand, then dissolved. The second it disappeared, Marie-Ange had pitched over, unconscious.
She woke up the next day, convinced that it had been a dream until she was called to the administrator's office and told that she was in danger of getting expelled. In fact, had word not come from an exclusive academy in America called the Massachusetts Academy, offering Marie-Ange a full scholarship to attend, she would have been.
Marie-Ange soon left for the Massachusetts Academy, where she is now.
RP Sample:
Marie-Ange frowned at the card she had pulled from the deck. "Ze Empress?" she muttered. "What am I to be patient for, zen?"
Her eyes flashed white and the beautiful, blonde haired empress pictured on her card appeared in front of her. The blonde-haired woman smiled at her, and Marie-Ange flipped the card around. The woman disappeared, and the figure reappeared on her card.
Maire-Ange sat back on her bed with a sigh, shuffling the cards again and pulling out one more.
"Ze high priestess..."
The veiled figure appeared in front of her, her hands gently clasping two ancient scrolls. She nodded, and Marie-Ange flicked the card around. Like the Empress, the High Priestess reappeared on the card.
