It had taken the Sentinels just two hours to fly from Genosha to America, with a magnetic anomaly interfering with American satellites, they had no idea it was coming. They landed, surrounding the Pentagon itself, programming from "kill any individuals with an X-gene" to "kill any individuals without an X-gene" they instantly began to open fire their powerful beams on the people of America. OOC: The participants in this thread are:
Corpse +5 Sentinels Toad +5 Sentinels vs Sunspot Tarot Multiple Tamer
This shall also serve as the posting order, if a person does not reply within 2 days, the person listed after them may proceed. If an attack is attempted, and the character the attack is aimed at does not respond within these two days, it shall be declared that the attack has landed.

: I'm going to assume that the Polaris player controlling the Sentinels only applies to that particular thread. I've noticed that line posted in the other 'attack' threads. ] Of all the people to be paired off with, Lilija Eiriksson found herself partnered up with Mortimer Toynbee. He wasn't a bad fellow, just a little cranky in her opinion, but today they'd have to look past attitudes and fulfill their mission. Today, they took down the Pentagon. " Okay, Bumpelstiltskin.," she said, using a name given to Toad the first time they met. " What's the plan? Besides using these giant bots here." The Sentinels were indeed impressive, all ten of them. But could they endure the efforts of the X-Men? Lilija wasn't sure, she'd never met a member of the team, only heard about them. Well, she could only try, and she had Toad there too. For once, she smiled since arriving in the American capital. " I can't do much, but raise the dead. Know any strong people in the afterlife?" Honestly, Lilija wouldn't do much good raising George Washington or Billy Mays. She needed something more compelling, more captivating.[/ul]

Of all the people Magneto had to stick him with, it had to be one of the newbies...and it just had to be Lilija. Just the mere fact that she insisted on calling him that ridiculous nickname of hers, even after the fact of him explaining to her why she couldn't, just grated on his already tired nerves. After everything that happened at the meeting, with Wanda, the strange, yet perky girl that he'd become acquainted with after someone tried to steal her purse, and now an attack on Washington, Mortimer was finding it harder and harder to take this all in stride.
He believed strongly in Magneto's dream of a brighter future for mutants, and he loved the fighting and everything about it, but was all this force really necessary against the humans? They were already stronger than they need be. Then again, they were facing the X-Men, as Magneto had warned them. Mutants against their cause; it almost seemed unbelievable. Why wouldn't other mutants want to support Magneto in his cause? He was helping them, after all! Damn...he was only in his mid twenties and, already, he felt he was too old for this crap.
Mortimer then looked to his compatriot, shifting the cigarette that sat between his lips, taking a long drag before speaking, releasing a cloud of smoke from between his sharp, yellow teeth.
"Th' plan? Well, ducky, th' plan 'ere is t' make sure whatever opponents we come across, that they don't take out th' big bots right here," He patted one of the Sentinels on the leg beside him and smirked. "Not like they'd 'ave an easy time without us, anyway."
"Well, tha' depends," He replied to her question about her powers. "Do th' dead people need t' be 'ere, or can y' just bring 'em over from anywhere in th' world? If tha's the case, I'd suggest someone like Genghis Khan 're th' Confed'rate Army." He smirked and flicked his cigarette to the side, standing to his full height and stretching his arms above his head, satisfied with the loud crack that followed.

Roberto Da Costa typically despised acting in violence. The use of force was something that the mutant preferred to reserve for the last option. Now was one of those times. As the group made their way to the pentagon, Roberto’s mind was racing; coming up with plan after plan as well as how many different angles he could very well play. He did not like the fact that he was bringing students with him. A team of adults he could have faith in. However, it was never easing to anyone when the likes of Jamie Madrox was one of his charges.
It was like a black rocket crackled through the sky; bursting through clouds while he carried Multiple by his arms (who looked like he was going to be sick). His yellow eyes narrowed as the group approached their destination. Oh meu deus (oh my god), he cursed mentally as his mind raced at seeing the robots wreaking devastation.
“Tarot, is there anything you can get that’s big enough to take the bots on? Multiple, I need to you to make copies and start directing the humans to escape,” he started to instruct as he dropped Jamie off and started to fly towards one of the Sentinels. “Tamer, I need air surveillance and force.” Roberto’s jaw set as he swooped into its targeting vision and sent a radiated blast straight into its eyes. At first, he had not anticipated the presence of the other mutants. Hopefully the others would. His first concern was getting the humans to safety and taking out the robots.
[sorry for taking so long guys!]

Sometimes, Marie hated being a precog. This was one of those times. She had awoke in the middle of the night, screaming from nightmares about war and death and giant robots; and as ridiculous as that sounded, every Tarot card reading she had done indicated the same thing: death and war.
She had gone to Miss Frost, who did some telepath things, and then sent them off to DC… to war. The Brotherhood was attacking Washington DC, and killing innocent humans- they needed to be stopped.
She had been assigned to work with Jamie and Tamer under Mr. Da Costa. He had taken off, and Marie (and Tamer as well) had followed on one of her constructs: the winged Devil, which could easily keep up with Sunspot.
“Big?” She questioned her teacher, shuffling through her Tarot cards. “I can do big.”
She flicked a card around her finger, and her eyes began to glow white as the massive horned and winged Devil reappeared in front of her. It was close to the size of the Sentinels, luckily, and it flew off to tackle one of the giant robots.
A few more cards flicked around her fingers, summoning several more of her constructs next to her: the Death card, and both the Knight and King of Swords.

Jamie Madrox didn’t hate his powers. It was having to use it to “help” that he seemed to find an inconvenience. He also despised when he had to be carted around by some kind super powered babysitter that seemed to insist on keeping an eye on him. The entire way there, Jamie had down nothing but complain. “What? No in flight movie? I was hoping to at least get to see ‘How Stella Got her Groove Back’.” “So if we crash in a body of water, what do I sue as a flotation device?” “Is there a chance that I could get the vegetarian lunch?”
Honestly, Jamie was becoming aggravated with himself by the time they were getting there. The entire time Mr. Da Costa had spoken, all Jamie could really think about was that his armpits were really starting to hurt. At least Marie and Chance got to ride on that winged thing. All that the flight had made Jamie do was be cranky. Which also meant that it was game time and he was ready for a fight. When given the instructions to clear the humans, Multiple’s lips curdled into a sneer. Figures. He couldn’t make anything cool and huge or shoot things from his hands or fly, or control animals or whatever.
So, Multiple was stuck with the lame job.
He simply sighed in annoyance as he was set down. He rushed for one of the security guards. “S’cuse me,” he said just before clocking the man in the jaw and taking his berretta and extra rounds. “Gonna need this.” He stuck the handgun on the inside of his jacket and made all ten of his dupes; each equipped with copies of the very weapon he’d just “commandeered” and gave marching orders. “Spread out, get the people out of here and safe,” he said before running out to heard some of the people. All the while thinking We are fucked.

OK Chance was going to take a moment and forget out about the whole saving the world thing. This winged Devil ride was freaking awesome!! "Just let me get this out of my system real quick. Tarot you are friggin' awesome." He clears his throat and nods to Mr. Da Costa. "Yes, sir." Chance focused and started to summon mid ranged size birds. Each one had either a mouse or a snake in it's claws. Unforutnately he couldn't summon too many at once but enough to get information and to annoy the hell out of he enemy.
The birds dropped the mice and snakes onto the Sentinels in the hopes of them getting to some of the wiring and screwing them up from the inside out. That's when blue eyes fell on one of the enemy. "Lilija?"

," she said with a slight shaking of her head. " I can only do one person, and up to three every twenty four hours. Hopefully I'll be able to do more, like entire armies, but for now I'm stuck with this." Not exactly grand level, but whatever. Lilija was useful in terms of getting information or bringing back potential allies, though right now unless she knew someone's lost lover or something, she was practically a human being. Kind of funny, as Toad was the exact opposite, so very non-human. " Hm?" Seems the opposition had arrived, and were heading towards them fast. Damn, they looked insanely powerful! How the hell were she and Toad supposed to stop them? " INCOMING OBJECTS, RISK OF COMPROMISING PRIORITIES. MUST ELIMINATE.," exclaimed one of the Sentinels before rocketing off, heading towards the winged devil of Tarot's. Moments later the other four of hers followed, moving in a V formation. Ironic really, considering the conversation her and Tamer were having... Wait a minute?! Tamer?! " It can't be...," she mouthed out, peering into the distance to, sure enough, spot the male she'd chatted with back in Boston. Ker-Znnk~!For the first time, Lilija was seeing what the Sentinels could do. They seemed to have a lot of tricks, one of which was emitting an electrical pulse to fry and kill the various animals latching onto them. Of course their clicking and whirring drowned out their screams, so it made it a tad bit easier to swallow. Sentinel #1 would branch off and begin firing eye and palm lasers at Multiple, as well as any of his nearby duplicates. Ker-Zaaaaap~!Sentinel #2 would go after Sunspot, repeating the same gestures as Sentinel #1. It's ultimate goal to either distract, injure, or even kill the mutant. Ker-Zaaaaap~!Sentinel #3 and Sentinel #4 would deal with Tarot and her summoned creature respectively, though with a unique approach. Sentinel #3 would launch out it's palm coils in an attempt to bind the card-created monster, while Sentinel #4 would open it's chest and launch an electrical net to pin down, shock, and immobilize the French woman. This left Sentinel #5 who would swoop down and attempt to punch Tamer directly, with the strength capable of shattering steel.[/ul]

Upon their charge, the plan Sunspot had relayed to his team started to execute seemed to develop holes. He watched out of his peripheral as Jamie assaulted a military officer and took his weapon. They would have to have words later. The mutant coated in black fire let out a snarl as a beam of energy went straight towards his being; having no idea if the shot he had fired earlier had landed. He barrel rolled just so out of the way but caught the beam’s singe enough do cause discomfort to the side of his leg. He clenched his teeth in pain and found his temper flaring beneath his fiery armor.
His eyes narrowed as he changed his flight plan and hurled his fiery form straight at the mechanical menace (sentinel #2) that had chanced a shot at him. His fists flared with red hot energy that nearly singed his knuckles as he wound up with the strength the sun afforded him and released a pitch of pure solar energy that would hopefully be enough to stave the sentinel from further attack. If he could get it to fall, he could gain an upper hand against one of these abominations.

"Merci, Tamer." Marie replied with a grin. She had to admit... the devil was pretty awesome. It was one of her favorite constructs to summon, especially when she needed to get somewhere, and fast.
Her eyes still glowing white, she raised her hand, pointing at the Devil. "Bougez!" she demanded. The devil jerked to the side, leaving the palm coils from Sentinel #3 to fly past it. It used its left hand to grab the palm coils, then continued on its flight toward the Sentinel. It dived at the Sentinel, aiming for it's chest area, and hopefully tackling it to the ground.
She glanced up at Sentinel #4, crying out as she saw the electrical net heading toward her. The Death card swooped the girl up into his arms, dashing off to the side on his horse. The Knight and King of Swords dissipated with a snap of Marie's fingers, a moment before the net crashed into the ground.

The multiples, and Jamie, scrambled to try and heard to people out. Though, not many of them were initially listened to. Friggin’ “soldiers” that couldn’t take care of themselves. Personally, Jamie thought it was stupid to help the same people that wanted his kind dead. But, here he was. Doing the “right” thing. It wasn’t until Jamie pulled his gun that his instructions were being followed; which was enough for his blue eyes to roll briefly while his dupes had to result to similar methods.
It wasn’t until a blast whizzed past his ear that Jamie’s attention turned to the Sentinel that had set its sights on him and his subordinates. He grimaced. This was a motherfucking robot! Jamie only had a berretta. Lasers… berretta… lasers… berretta…
Jamie was fucking screwed. He leapt aside from another blast and his mental priority became something different. He let out a mental distress to his duplicates, who were also being fired at, and devised a new plan. He had ten dupes, that made eleven of him. This could work out, maybe. He split them into two factions. One that proceeded to get the others out, and another group that would cover his ass and pump this bot full of lead.
Dupes 1-6 handed their guns over to the ones that would fight; one of them sliding to Jamie while 7-10 ran to their originator to assist him. He picked up the other gun. Now this is bad ass! he thought to himself as he started firing at the attacking sentinel.
[sorry for taking so long!]

Tamer watched as a majority of his little guys got fried and he frowned. It didn't physically hurt him but it did bother him quite a bit. However, they had known it might happen and so did he. Luckly a couple of them had gotten through although it was just the little mice. Still he hoped they survived chewing on the wires of Sentinel #3.
Blue eyes looked up to see a big ass robot coming his way. "Holy shit!" Tamer tried jump out of the way and ended up getting clipped in upper portion of his leg. Of course the big robots love tap was enough to practically shatter his femur and sent him spinning until he was stopped by a rather hard wall. The young man blacked out for several minutes before he groggily pulled himself up. Pain shot through his leg and he ended up balancing on one foot. Not for the first time in his life, Tamer wished he could summon a goddamned dragon.
As it was he forced himself to focus which was hard as hell since he had a headache, and summoned a small rhino. It was a suicide mission for the thing and he knew it, hated it but he didn't see another other options. Tamer sent the rhino charging after one of the Sentinels that were ground based aiming him for the back of the knees so to speak. It was a weak and pathetic attempt he knew but in his current state he was lucky the thing hadn't gotten out of control.

: I originally intended for Toad to deal with Sunspot's blast, but since Toad never posted, I'll go ahead and do that now. ] Sentinel #1 and Sentinel #2 suddenly stopped in mid-air, which immediately captured the attention of Corpse as she looked up - they had huge gaping holes through their centers! Like a sis kabob, Roberto had shot through both of them, causing them to crash into the ground below and creak, crackle, and whir with a defeating sound. Guess Sunspot wouldn't need to even the stakes now, they'd already be equaled out. How long had they been like that? Damn it, that's what Lilija got for not keeping an eye on them. But the blast's affect had finally gotten to them, practically melting most of their interior, like some supernova or something! Click, click, whrrr~! Click, click, whrrr~! Neither of the two were getting up, a fact made all the more obvious by their synchronized automated fail safe plan: " CENTRAL CORE, CRITICAL DAMAGE. UNABLE TO CONTINUE, REPAIRS: NEGATIVE. ACTIVATING SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE IN... T-MINUS 30 SECONDS... 29... 28... 27..." Jesus Christ! These things were programmed to self-destruct in the event they couldn't continue?! It made sense, considering Magneto probably didn't want the robots to be captured, then turned against him by the allied X-Men and Hellions. Surely though, he'd have given them longer than half a minute! Corpse was already backing up, ready to bolt! No way she was getting nuked, she was far too pretty to die now! Sentinel #3 meanwhile, fighting Tarot's summoned creatures, realized it's palm-coil had been snatched. The devil was coming in, possibly for some kind of attack, and the moment this probability reached it's internal circuits, a surging current of electricity went coursing through the coil - which the devil seemingly still held - at a blinding speed. If that was successful, it'd lessen the devastating blow from Tarot, possibly giving it a bit more go power, though it'd first have to endure the impact it received. Ker-Smiiiiiish~!!!Slamming into the ground, Sentinel #3 skidded across debris, dirt, and soil, only coming to a stop at the end of a hissing crater several miles long. Along the way, it smashed through countless buildings, taking anyone's life inside that had not fled earlier or who were too injured or foolish to leave. Click, click, whrr~!Sentinel #3's eyes flickered momentarily, but unlike it's brethren #1 and #2, it could still fight. Having this create nearby, Sentinel #3 launched an electrical net at the beast, hoping to catch it with surprise, close proximity, and influence from it's earlier shocking attack via palm-coil. If successful, there was enough voltage to bring down an entire army of soldiers, so surely a beast - magical or not - could feel something, possibly even dissolving or, better yet, dying! " ... 25... 24... 23..." Sentinel #4 would be tackled, but unlike Sentinel #3, it would attempt to reach out and grab the beast. If successful, it would begin a bear hug, then shock the creature for several moments. Nothing fancy there, but that wasn't what should have been focused on, that electrical net Tarot had dodged went right past her and slammed into the Pentagon, sending an electrical shock wave throughout the area - so powerful, it exploded. " ... 22... 21... 20..." Maybe Tarot would take the net next time, Corpse thought as Jamie's duplications began firing at the gigantic goliaths, though the bullets were doing very little. If anything, they endangered the beasts of Tarot near the two sentinels. After all, these things were apparently bullet proof, and Sentinel #1 was already down from Sunspot's previous attack, leaving Sentinel #3 and Sentinel #4 standing in the way of Jamie's barrage of bullets. " ... 19... 18... 17..." Sentinel #5 was a little luckier, it just had to deal with rodents and a rhino. The mice would continue to do their work, finding it difficult and time-consuming to chew the wiring, it was pretty thick and durable. Fortunately for Tamer, the rhino would do some damage, piercing through the armor just enough to cause the giant piece of metal to wobble, then fall forward... right towards the limping animal master! " ... 16... 15... 14..." Goddamn it, Toad![/ul]

Shit, shit, shit, shit! This was definitely not going as planned. Perched on Sentinel #6, he growled in irritation; so, these babies were rigged to blow if they didn't finish their task? Figures. Finishing off his cigarette, he flicked the remnants of it away and released a cloud of smoke, figuring it was time to step his game up a notch. He was prepared to allow Lilija to take the lead in this, but as far as it seemed, she definitely needed the help; he was confident Magneto put him here for more than just Sentinel upkeep, but for now, he might as well try and disable the impending explosion.
He leapt from Sentinel #6, turning once over in the air as he fell, hitting the same bot's knee and leaping off from that where he would land easily on the ground in front of it, hitting the dirt and hopping forward as fast as he could toward Sentinels #1 and 2, dodging various animals that came his way it seemed. He glowered at the injured animal master for this one, while Sentinels #7 and 8 made their move on Jamie and his many dupes. Charging their chest blasters, they opened fire on the lot of them, digging new trenches in the ground below them, singing the earth, and effectively setting a few rogue animals on fire.
Sentinel #9 set its sights on Marie as she effectively dodged it's brothers electrical nets, sending a few of its own her way in an attempt to catch her again, while Sentinel #10 lashed out at Roberto, in an attempt to knock him about while he wasn't paying attention to it.
15...14...13...
As all of this went on around him, managing to keep a deaf ear to the explosions, the dying animals and the lot about him, Mortimer had managed to knock open the cover of Sentinel #1 and tore at the respective wires, only managing to stop the self destruct sequence for this lone Sentinel, barely so, already on nerves' end from being so close to the potentially destructive beasts. But he didn't have enough time to stop the other one.
6...5...4...3...
Shit, shit, and double shit! There was no time. He whipped his head around, his team mate still close by. He cursed loudly.
"Lilija! Dammit, Corpse, run!" He snarled at her before moving to get away himself. He hopped as fast as he could her way.
2...1...BEEPBEEPBEEP.
Too late. The resulting explosion from Sentinel #2 was, well...definitely what was expected. The resulting back draft knocked Mortimer right off his feet, he could feel the burning singe on whatever skin he had exposed and he went flying. He whipped his tongue out to grab onto a nearby tree, but even that was uprooted in the blast, not only having him still flying, but now with a tree coming up with him. He quickly let go of it, but it still managed to smack right into him. He grunted and moved to climb over it, at least so it didn't pin him, though he fell to the ground with it. It rolled and he leapt for it, hitting the ground with a tumble and a groan, cursing as he moved to get back up again.
