There were a lot of things a teenage mutant had to go through dealing with their powers. Once you thought you had gotten the hang of your abilities, something else comes along. Whether it be a new ability or just a growth in your current ones. For the past couple of days, Jean had been having these strange head aches and bizarre dreams. Not too bizarre anymore...she had the same dreams when her powers first manifested. She telepathy and telekinesis were a bit on the sketchy side. She couldn't lift a pencil and then next thing she knew, a sharp migraine came and everything in a room would be floating. Not to mention how she would suddenly get a rush of everyone's thoughts into her head. She didn't want to be a threat towards anyone, so she put as much distance between herself and other residents as possible. She had left Poor Scott with all the duties in training the new recruits. She didn't dare go to the professor about her problem. He had been through enough, she didn't want to burden him with anything else. This was something she could deal with on her own.
It was around 3am, Jean clung tightly to her blankets, sweating and gritting her teeth. The imagery in her head of herself and Scott sitting and embracing in the park. The sudden greenery engulfed by flames and the screeching of a raptor rising from fire scorching everything in it's path until finally merging with the telepath herself.
"AHHHH!!!" Jean shot up from her pillow and clenching her head as strong waves of psionic energy pulsed through the mansion, causing the entire building to rumble and shake. "Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!"

Despite the happenings of the last few weeks Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Xavier was growing used to his new disibility...albiet slowly. Every time he woke up he willed his legs to move only to be reminded once more that they would never do so under his own power again.
It was early morning...to early to be considered sensible that he heard a scream in his head. His eyes jutted open to feel that the entire school was shaking...any normal person might think it was some kind of Earth tremour but Xavier had heard the scream...this was the work of a telekinetic and Charles knew exactly who this might be. Still wearing his Pyjamas the head teacher forcibly dragged himself in to the wheelchair next to his bed and used the power of his arms to make his chair move. Moving the chair at speed was tiring and he was reminded he would need to improve his upper body strength. Pulling forward towards Jean's room he opened the door and moved himself in.
He wasn't sure how well she'd communicate in this state so he went for the more direct approach. Shutting his eyes and placing two fingers on each temple he let out a breath and sent the message Jean I'm coming in...calm yourself and with that he tried to force himself in to the young psychic's mind in an attempt to forcibly calm her and stop what he thought to be the cause of the shaking.

"Professor...I...the fire...I can't stop it!" was the message returned to Xavier. Calming herself was easier said than done. The imagery wouldn't leave her mind. The world being covered by flames and herself surrounded by a strange bird-like aura standing and watching all those she cared about perish to ashes. The pulses in her head continued to increase with intensity, the roof and outer wall of her room was obliterated, opening a hole into the building as the telepath levitated from her bed.
"Professor, help..."
She looked onto her mentor with flames in her eyes.

Xavier knew that Jean suffered nightmares. After what she'd been through...the trauma of how her powers manifested and the coma that followed it was stupid to assume she would not have underlying psychological issues to confront. Charles believed that this was just a normal nightmare. Until she begun to levitate and he saw the fire...the fire in her eyes.
It stirred something....primordial in him, it was full of fury, anger and raw...power. Xavier tried to shake the feeling off but there was something otherworldy about what was happeing here. He clenched his eyes shut tight. He wasn't sure what was going to happen...with open sky Jean could go anywhere and in her state she could be a danger to everyone as well as herself. He forced his mind forward and tried to Force himself in to make her feel tired Jean....Jean come down, we can help you here...let us stop the fire he wasn't sure what this fire was...it was most likely some...metaphorical thing but he couldn't help but feel there was something else.

The thoughts echoed in her mind. Despite the power she was putting out, it was hard to block one of the world's most powerful telepaths. However she felt another presence in her head. An ominous force attempting to enter Jean's mind. A force she had felt before right after she had awaken from her coma.
"Get out of my head!" Jean screamed, and releasing another psionic blast from her mind. Her vision darkened and her body fell limp across her bed. The chaos had subsided, and a gentle light breeze flowed through Jean's room.

Charles spoke in her mind gently trying to calm her but it didn't seem to be working. She looked wide eyed and terrorfied....Xavier wandered if he should try to force her in to unconsiousness, this pure power she was weilding could tear the school apart....
It was as he was thinking this Jean said 'Get out of my head' before a power Psonic blast wracked his brain. He yelled out in frustration and pain as he was forced out of Jean's mind. When he focused again he saw Jean laying peacfully on the bed and he wasn't sure what happened. SO he spoke to her gently...seeing if she was awake "Jean...Jean are you okay?"

The fire had extinguished and the red headed telepath stood lonely in the ruins of the mansion caused this untold force of destruction. Caused by her. She felt cold and and wrapped her arms around herself tower echoing behind her in her ears. Was it just a nightmare or a premonition?
"Jean...Jean are you okay"
The professor's voice had started to register in Jean's head and she shifted a bit, slowly regaining conscious. Her green eyes opened and stared over at her mentor with blurred. "Professor..." she said in a soft tone. "It's happening again...the fire...I saw it again..."

This was bad, for a while he had thought Jean's problems were finished, but looking up at the large missing section of hte roof he knew that this wasn't true. She had powers he could hardly imagine at...but he knew she couldn't control them and he believed that some sort of psycological problem was preventing her from processing the abilities normally.
Perhaps if they could suppress these visions and understand them it would give a clue to how to protect Jean from those abilities and by extension herself "Shh Shh...It's okay Jean, It's okay...I think....I think perhaps we should go back in to session, try to work out these dreams of yours, make them go away

"I suppose." she said hesitantly. She was unsure that the sessions would help. The mental blocks he had placed in her mind when they first met were obviously starting to crack. Something was inside of her and trying to take over. The dreams of destruction had to be more than just a nightmare.
"I don't think it's that easy, Professor. There's something else. I don't know what it is, but there is..."

Xavier let out a sigh, he was psychologist, every bone in his body screamed that this was simply a case of multiple personality disorder that was unlocking the mental blocks and giving Jean uncontrolled limits on her powers, but something in the back of his mind knew this wasn't right...and althought he loathed to admit the fact whatever he was dealing with was far out of his range of abilities.
Quickly his mind raced over the people he could possibly ask for help....Moira? maybe...they had bad blood between them but he knew she'd help him, Erik? no...he couldn't ask Erik, not now. If he knew what Jean was capable of he'd want to weild her like a weapon. Perhaps his psychic abilities could help him...if this was indeed another pressence within Jean's mind then he may be able to converse with it, mind to mind. "Jean, what I'm about to suggest could be....unorthadox, but do you think it is possible to..converse with this pressence? if it dwells within your mind. You don't have to if you think it will be dangerous, but for once I'm at a loss to explain what's happening"

"I...Maybe?" Jean said sitting back up and holding a hand to her head. It was a plan, but did he really want to take the risk? "Honestly professor, part of me doesn't even want to know what it is..." she admitted looking back at him. Then again, he always had her best interest in mind. Maybe she should allow it.
"Go ahead, Professor. If you think that's the right course to take. I'm not too sure myself."

"Okay..." he begun, letting out a breath. He hoped this wouldn't backfire, but he needed to know exactly what this thing was. He wanted to look in to her mind and see it was something simple, something that could be dealt with easily with some sort of mental block, but unfortunatly he didn't think that would be the case.
He reached out his hands to put them on her temples, to make it easier to concentrate. "Okay Jean....slow your breathing and relax, ease me in to your mind gently" slowly he tried to place himself in to the girl's mind in an attempt to search for this fiery pressence, he just hoped he didn't get burnt.

"Alright." Jean nodded closing her eyes with a deep breath, letting down the mental shields of her mind to allow the professor to dip in. While he did so, Jean had began to go through her own memories. The car accident that killed her best friend and that triggered her powers. It was revealed that to the professor that the young Jean had telepathically linked her mind to her dying friend to keep her soul from moving to the afterlife.
In doing so, Jean's mind was being dragged along to the "other side" transcending the physical realm. A fiery force of the universe lent its energy to break the connection, and returned the young Jean's mind to the world of the living. The force felt a kinship with the young mutant and laid dormant within her and had been growing as she matured. The memories continued and revealed that during one of Jean's early sessions when she had first met the professor, an aspect of young Jean's mind reached out in the form of the this entity to touch young Scott Summer's mind as he slept in the home he had been taken into as a child. The psychic link between Jean Grey and Scott Summers had formed. As Jean had matured, so had the force within and it was now starting to emerge, slowly breaking through the blocks the Professor had placed in Jean's mind to suppress her rapidly growing abilities.

Xavier pictured the halls of Jean's mind as a blank white space for as far as the eye could see. Mixed in to this were flashes of memories things that tied Jean's life together with her powers and her possibly limitless potential. He saw flashes of her young life, the car crash where her powers manifested and how close she came to death, it then moved on to one of her first sessions with Charles Xavier and he felt his heart warm with the memory...although it was a little odd to see it from her point of view. It was during this memory that the curious psychic bond between Jean Grey and Scott Summers surfaced, he knew the pair were close but he was unaware that such a link existed and he pondered if the boy knew either.
This was quickly replaced though by the sense of Jean's enormous abilities, he had no idea what Jean was capable of. With these abilities properly controlled and harnessed she could do untold good for the world...but that meant controlling the raging beast inside her, if it could be contained let alone controled. "Good Jean...now, bring forth this entity and we shall see what it has to say..."
