He was just done with a training class and had a bright stain on the red portion of his suit. So far he had done nothing but spread it out with soap and brush so there he was stripped down to his uniform pants on the pay phone out in the hall way trying to get ahold of his Aunt May. "Base? Oil...Dirt....Aunt May I don't have a clue what base the stain is....okay its Bomb based." He heard her laughing her head off over the phone, and groaned. So the bomb disarming class hadn't gone smoothly for the new guy, but he at least succeded in keeping his team alive. Sorta....
"Yeah Aunt May, I'm eating great, this place is really nice...Yeah I'll find out when there is a family day... AUNT MAY! I'm not talking about clean underwear over..........you did it to me again." He groaned as he sheepishly waved off the kids walking past him, boy this was going to be a long year already.

Sunshine had just been shooed out of the kitchen for the millionth time and was carrying her rolling pin with her. It was the one thing she had purchased a long time ago with her own money and had seen her through many a bad times. Unfortunately, she as busted before it could be used today. She was heading back to her room to work on some new outfits since fashion was her other passion, when she heard the kids snickering. Brown eyes looked up to see the young man in just his bottoms holding onto his top and talking on the phone. A small grin touched her lips when she heard part of his conversation. Then the brown eyes narrowed at the kids laughing at him. She whacked one over the head with her rolling pin. ”Be nice.”
One of the kids was getting a little bold and was about to rev up his powers when his friend grabbed him. ”Dude, not her.” The other guy made pfft sound and turned toward her. ”She ain’t gonna do nothin’.” He walked up to her ready to flick her in the head when her hand reached out and she grabbed his face. The fear surged through her into him. ”Be nice.” She watched as the kids ran off and then quickly shoved her hand in her pocket. Penny nodded to the boy on the phone with the guilt clear on her face. She gave him small nod and tiny smile, then she ducked her head and started to make her way to her room.

He noticed the girl that was actually got the rest of them to be nice to him, so as she walked past he got a tracer on her belt. One of those gifts that comes with pratice. "Thanks Aunt May yeah, I'll get it out. Yeah, yeah, I might make a friend." The phone was dead on the other side before he could even finish the sentence. "Geez Love you too Aunt May." He threw the shirt into his hamper and figured he would let the machines get the stain out as he pulled out his spare red and blue suit throwing on the top he grabbed a few things and headed down the corridor following his tracker.
Getting to the door he knocked on it and was hoping she didn't get to mad at him, but he really could use a a friendly face around this place so he figured start with the one that was nice to him. "Hiya I'm Ben," Was his comment when the door opened.

Penny’s brows arched when she heard the knock on the door. No one ever came to her room. She opened the door and smiled at the new boy. ”Hello Ben, I’m Penny. Oh I can get that stain out for you… If you want that is.” OK she probably jumped the gun a bit there, but she had the stuff to get the stain out at least she was pretty sure it would work. She’d ruined some clothes in the danger room before and knew how to clean them up. Her head tilted and the brown curls bounced a bit as she wondered what he was here for. Either a new outfit or something to eat, that’s usually why they show up.
Although the little chunky butt did step aside and let him in. It didn’t dawn on her to wonder how he found her, figuring he’d just followed her from the hallway. Not really all that unusual or hard even. ”Come on in. You need anything? I got a small fridge and some soda and a few snacks I made.” The mansion could be falling down around her ears and she’d still play hostess.

He smiled as he walked behind her and plucked the tracer right from the back of her belt. "I was afraid that I would lose track of the first nice person in this school. So I kinda got a spider tracer on you." He grimaced about that a bit, and sighed. "I'm sorry, but I've been here for a few days and it isn't easy being the outsider or the new guy."
He thought about it for a minute and smiled. "I'm good on snacks, but I'll snag a soda if you don't mind." He chuckled as he webbed the fridge door and snagged him a soda. "Want one?" He webbed a second one just in case and actually used a flick motion to shut the door. "Don't worry that will dissolve in about 24 hours and you won't even know it was here." Thinking about his uniform he grimaced, "I'm sorry I didn't come here to get favors from you, I just wanted to talk and get to know someone here." He chuckled a bit and sighed. "Can you give me a tip on that stain, I'll do the elbow grease work for it though."

The girl’s eyebrows quirked and then she grinned. ”Spider tracker? That’s neat and don’t worry I know the feeling so yeah. I’ve been here a bit though so I know my way around pretty good.” Penny probably should have thought it was a bit freaky but he was nervous and new so she didn’t really mind. Besides it was always nice to have company since she didn’t often get any.
She blinked watching him do his web thing. ”Ah cool. Oh thanks….” Penny took the soda and looked at the webbing. ”It just… vanishes?” Her mind was trying to process a few things at the moment. One the webbing, which was way cool, the fact that he got her the soda, and the fact that he just wanted to talk. ”Vinegar. It smells but a good vinegar should do the trick.” She nodded and motioned to one of the two chairs for him to sit in and she took the opposite chair. ”Spider like abilities I take it?”

He nodded his head slowly, "Yep from what I can understand they say my X gene was never fully developed, so I would more than likely end up one of those mutants that never knew they were a mutant. But then I got bit by a radioactive spider at a science exhibit, so the spider DNA was used by my x gene to complete the mutation. Henceforth as my Aunt May dubbed me," Pulls on the gloves and the mask and backflips onto her wall "I'm your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man"
He groaned as he thought about that and shook his head. "I complained to Aunt May about it so she shortened it to the Spectacular Spider-Man, not much better in my mind, but I'll live with it." He smiled at her and sipped his soda after dropping back down and nodded his head. "Yeah oxygen actually starts to degrade right off the get go, but it takes a while. If you really wanna get it to go away hot water does the trick." He chuckled a bit as he looked at her. "So vinegar huh, I'll remember that."

The girl tilted her head and listened then she giggled when he stuck to her wall. ”Rumor has it there’s a girl that didn’t know she was one until recently either. Her’s doesn’t kick in unless she’s with another mutant. So you got bit by a radioactive spider that kick started your power. That had to suck. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man…. That’s a mouth full. Want me to just call you Spidey for short?” She’d remember that. ”They call me Sunshine due to my over abundance of…. Goody goodiness. I can… Um.. induce fear by touch. I don’t really like it though. But as you can tell it’s quite effective if I can get my hands on them.”
”Oh no, that’s fine I’ll just wait for it. Might keep me from drinking too many sodas in one day.” Penny grinned over at him when she said that. She nodded again when he reiterated vinegar. ”Then wash in warm to hot water with a really good detergent to get the smell out.” Penny tucked herself up in the chair and grinned at him. ”So what do you think of the place so far?”

He kept quiet listening to her, and kinda felt bad for her. Having the power was hard enough at times, but having a power that you don't like on top of it that was really hard. As always Ben had to find a way to spin this to where she could be proud of it, for some reason he had to do things that other's might not understand. He was often in Sunny's shoes before so if he could be the mentor he would. "Listen, I hated my powers in the beginning, made me a freak of nature, how was I supposed to be a normal high school student now that I could cling to walls and lift about 20 tons. Yeah if a spider my size could do it, I can. Then it all made sense one day, all I was doing was webbing my way home trying to beat the bus like always when I saw this old lady about to be run down, the next thing I know, the people in my old neighborhood were calling me a hero. Some day Sunny you're going to have to make your choice, and when that day comes, your gifts are going to be what separates you from all the boring others."
He rubbed his neck not wanting to be any more long winded than he already was. "Yeah I have a friend I'm trying to take care of between classes as well. Can ya tell?" He chuckled a bit thinking about the girl who just found out. "That has to be way harsh to find out just when another mutant was standing there wow." He looked over at her and winked. "Okay Suntea, warm to hot water got it."

Penny looked over at him and sighed. Not many understood it, she’d use her powers when she had to, though unless they really, really, really made her mad she’d always feel guilty for it later. She knew what it was like to be afraid and she hated that she could put someone through that. ”I’ll use them when I have to and when I need to. I just know what it’s like to be terrified and I am one of those people that like to comfort others. You know, not send them to the nuthouse because they’d gone crazy with fear or even thro w them into a heart attack. But when needed I do use them, don’t worry about that.” She still wondered if her increase in nightmares was related to her not using her powers in awhile. But then she did scare that boy today so she could always think of it as a bit of an experiment and find out.
”Aw I hope your friend is ok.”Had no idea who his friend was or what the problem was but she was genuinely concerned anyway. ”Actually I think it was when the Sentinel was looking right at her and called her a mutant. I could be wrong on that though.” She blinked when he called her Suntea and giggled, she liked that. ”Suntea?” That was kind of cool because she had a feeling that Sunshine might have started off as an insult…. She shook her head a bit. ”So, what do you for fun and stuff?” Brown eyes scanned her cluttered room at all the cook books, arts and crafts stuff, and sewing items all over the place. Well actually cluttered over on one half of the room. She’d been making some extra money here and there making things for people so it’s been easier to keep up her multitudes of artsy and cooksie projects.

"Yeah Suntea, nothing beats it, and I got the feeling that nothing beats having you as a friend." He winked at her as he sipped his soda, thinking about it for a minute. "Well, when it comes to fun my room kinda looks like yours, but instead of cookbooks I have science books ranging from basic astronomy to advanced physics. Plus, I'm a bit of a hobbyist photographer. In fact I kinda got suckered into the Danger Room cause the first time I was paying too much attention to all the shots for my camera. Only good news is I have a few tricks up my sleeve." He chuckled as he looked over at her and winked.
"That had to suck, finding out when a big robot calls you out. Man, I hope her friend's didn't haul out on her, cause that is when you would need your friends the most. I'm lucky I got my Aunt May, I told her about it and she jumped on the fan wagon right off the get go." He chuckled brightly as he leaned back and looked her over. "So let me guess guys have been using you for your food stuff."

”Aw thanks.” She blushed bright red as she grinned. That was so sweet of him to say and he seemed to mean it so that made it even better. ”Ack, oh.. Science is my worst subject. Put a recipe in front of me and I can make anything. Put a chemical equation in front of me and I blow up the lab….. twice….” She ducked her head and sipped her drink since that kind of happened recently and she was still quite embarrassed about it. ”The Danger Room scares the jeepers out of me. Photographer? That’s cool. Maybe one day if I can get enough girls together we can put on a fashion show and you can take pictures. Maybe we could both make money off of sales.” She giggled a bit when he winked and at his comment. This was definitely a nice little change of pace.
”Um I don’t know. I haven’t had a chance to actually talk to her yet. It’s just what I’ve heard.” She was happy he had someone to support him when everything happened to him. That was important and one of the things that Penny lacked herself, though she never really let it bother her. At his question about guys she furrowed her brow and remembered the conversation she had with Mr. Wisdom. A soft sigh escaped and she shrugged. ”I guess, in a way, sort of… Well yeah. Mr. Wisdom told me to be careful about it but you know… Gets kind of boring and they hang out while I’m fixing them something to eat. Gets some ok conversations going.” When had she become that girl? She’d never been like that before. She’d always had confidence in herself and then she came here and not so much anymore. That sucked.

He looked across to the girl sitting on the opposite side of the room from him. He was really good at reading between the lines, something he picked up from his love of Sherlock Holmes novels as a kid. "So your family kinda sorta bailed on you once your powers kicked in huh?" He wasn't sure, but he had the feeling that she didn't have an Aunt May type supporting her. Well, that wasn't right and he had a funny feeling one little phone call would fix that in a heart beat. "So you have any clue when a parent's day is going to be? My Aunt May wants to see this place like crazy." He chuckled a bit as he thought about his Aunt May teaming up with this Suntea, they would be the most powerful force in the known world.
He shook his head when he listened to her and sighed. "Well, I'll tell ya one thing, I'm great at science, but I only seem to carbonize the food I cook. So how about you teach me some basic cooking skills and I'll teach you the basics of chemistry." he chuckled a bit as he thought about things again that could work out rather well. "So fashion is your other hobby huh, that's cool, my Aunt May is an old fashioned woman so she made my stuff that I use right now." He chuckled a bit as he looked over at her and sighed. "So tell me what is it that keeps you here?"

Penny shook her head at his question. ”Mom died when I was born and no dad was listed on the birth certificate.” She shrugged a bit having accepted it a long time ago that she didn’t have family. She couldn’t count the orphanage kids as family since none of them really got along. Unless they wanted something from each other. ”I don’t think they technically have one, but if you talked to one of the teachers they might be able to arrange for you to have a visit. I don’t have anyone that would want to come so I don’t pay attention to that stuff.” It was just easier to ignore that kind of thing.
The girl perked up and beamed at him. ”I’d love that. If you really don’t mind that is. But yeah I think I can teach you some basics. At least so you won’t starve when you are out there in your own swinging, pardon the pun, bachelor pad.” Her head tilted and she looked over his outfit. ”Well if you ever need a patch up, I can do that too.” She nodded her head and grinned. She had been told she was born in the wrong time period on multiple occasions. ”Um… what kind of movies do you like? Sorry not used to the small talk stuff with people my own age.”

Thinking about it he nodded his head slowly. "Will have to do that, cause I don't think it would take long for Aunt May to come here kicking down the doors, and at her age that would be a sight." He chuckled a bit as he looked over at her and smiled. This was kinda cool, she was extremely nice and easy to get along with.
"Yeah, and I think I can make sure we keep the science lab together next time." he winked to let her know he was joking. "Sweet, I wasn't sure how I was supposed to get this thing back to Aunt May's when it tears, kinda of a far swing when I'm starting from out here." He thought about her next question for a minute trying to think of the last one he watched. "Honestly comedies are my favorites the raunchier the better so I'm a huge fan of the American Pie series." He thought about it for a bit, and chuckled. "I also like those boring movies that are informational about anything related to science."
He waved off her apology. "Don't worry I'm not used to anything more than 'Dude look at her boobs.' I love the guy. He's a great best friend, but wow he has a one track mind." he chuckled a bit so he looked over at her and winked once again. "So how about we break out those snacks and brush up on your small talk skills?"
