Kiden sat on a bench with her trashy backpack that held the few things she owned sticking her hand in she pulled out a half smoked cigarette and stuck it in her mouth before pulling out a lighter and lighting the smoke before taking drag from it. “Breakfast of champions.” she said to herself as she closed up her backpack. Speaking of breakfast she should get off her ass and go and dig around Burger King’s dumpster to see if there was anything good to eat. But she didn’t really feel like getting up at the moment so she put it off for a while. She dropped the bag down between her legs as she leaned back on the bench and hoped she wouldn't be annoyed by any crazy red heads.

Penny just needed to get out for a bit. Things were starting to take their toll and the happy girl wasn't so bubbly anymore. That worried her since nothing had ever really gotten to her before. But things were starting to bug her and she needed to get out. So she went for walk around New York. Brown eyes fell on the younger girl. The girl was skinny! Oh man, the mama mode was starting to kick in. "Hi."

She flicked the cigarette butt onto the street when she heard someone talking. Looking around she spotted Penny she guess she was the one talking. “Hey...” she was a bit happy it wasn’t that damn red head. She raised a brow wondering why the girl was looking at her like she was. She knew she looked like crap she didn't need to stare at her like that though it annoyed her to no end. "WHAT?"

Penny jumped when the girl yelled at her. ”Nothing. I was just going to go grab something to eat and was wondering if you wanted to come with.” Why did people always get weird around her? Or yell at her or think she was plotting something? Penny didn’t know but it was starting to really get to her. ”If you don’t want to that’s fine. I was just offering. Sorry, for bothering you.” She looked down at her feet as she started to slowly walk away wondering if there was something weird about her after all.

She gave her a confused look wondering why she would ask something like that “Why? You don’t even know me.” she said after a long pause. She looked away most people around here wouldn't give a fuck about you and all of a sudden this lady comes out of no where and asks her to go out to get something to eat it seemed kind of weird. "I don't have any money so I can't." she looked back at her waiting for her to walk off or something.

Penny looked over at the girl and sighed. It got really frustrating when she had to sit there and explain that she was just being nice. There was no agenda, no motive other than the girl looked hungry and she was being nice. ”Because you look hungry, I am hungry, and I’m a nice person. There is no other reason than that. If you are looking for some dark malicious agenda I don’t have one, but if it will make you feel more comfortable I can come up with one.” She shrugged at the girl when she said she didn’t have any money. ”I have some and can cover both of us if you are hungry. I don’t mind.” Honestly she didn’t mind and that’s what bothered her the most when everyone was so suspicious of her. One of these days she just might do something out of character and plan something, just to throw them off. Although it’d just go to prove their point so why bother. She turned and looked at the girl. ”You coming?”

She looked at her kind of funny she was a nice weird lady and by that she wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not but whatever. “Because people around here don’t care about homeless people unless they want something or want you to do something for them.” she looked over at the other girl who didn’t seem much older then herself. “Wasn’t really looking foreword to digging around in Burger King’s dumpster that’s why I haven’t ate.” she shrugged and grabbed her bag and followed after Penny wondering where they were going and who was going to let her in looking like this?

Penny looked over at the girl and sighed softly. ”I don’t want anything from you and I don’t want you do anything for me. I’m in a position at the moment to help and that’s all I want to do. You look hungry and I can afford to take you to get food. That’s it not strings attached. You don’t even have to stay if you want to get the order to go.” Heavens but it was starting to hurt when people doubted her sincerity. She understood on some level as to why they did but it didn’t make hurt any less than it does. The sparkle in her eyes started to dull and there was an air of defeat that was starting to slip over her. She looked back to see the girl was following her and nodded. It broke her heart that the girl had to dig into the trash for food, but no one would understand that. Maybe it’s because her heart wasn’t bleeding over a third world country.
The young woman led the girl to a diner that she goes to quite a bit. The fact that she was with Penny made it so no one questioned what the girl was doing there. Penny made her way to her normal booth and slid into the seat. Then she looked to see if the girl had indeed followed her into the diner.

“Ok.” was all that she said before looking up at the dinner they ended up at before going inside with her. Not really sure what else to say its not like they really knew each other or anything so she didn’t say anything unless she had to. Walking over to the table she tossed her bag onto the seat before sliding in and just sat there looking around the place. She remembered this place having gone to it a few times with her father when her mother dropped her off so she could go shopping or whatever and didn't want to drag her along with her bothers.

Penny looked over when the girl said ‘ok’ and nodded. She took one of the menus and ordered a soda and then started looking at the choices. Brown eyes glanced up at the girl. ”Go ahead and order whatever you want.” Then she went back to looking over the menu. Penny looked up and smiled at the waiter and then took a sip of her drink. Really she wished people would just realize not everyone has an agenda at least not her. ”I’m Penny by the way.”

Kiden ordered a soda as well before picking up the menu and looking it over as well. She wasn’t sure what she wanted it all looked good to her and for once it wouldn’t be covered in other trash or something worse. She shook her head not really wanting to think about that at the moment before looking over at the other girl a cross from her “Kiden.” yeah her name sucked when she was in school she was teased about it and all that crap. And got into a lot of fights over it in and out of school.

Penny watched as the girl tried to decide what she wanted. She nodded when the girl gave her name. ”Cool name. Much better than boring old Penny. Not even short for Penelope.” She grinned at the girl to let her know she was serious. Again she sipped her soda and stretched a bit. ”So… do you have a place to stay tonight? I could probably sneak you into my room later if you want to crash and maybe grab a shower. I mean it would only be for one night but I have snacks and movies and it’s warm and comfortable. Sort of…. Kind of got a lot of second hand mismatched stuff, but yeah. I could even give you an extra blanket. I’ve made some quilts.” It was a genuine offer but Penny was waiting for the backlash.

“Not really everyone made fun of it before I dropped out.” She replied as she played with the straw in her soda not really paying all that much attention to what was going on around her. “Where ever I can find a place to crash. You don’t have to do that I mean I don't you to get in trouble with your parents or whatever...” it did sound like it would be fun and all that but she really didn't want to get attacked by adults and thrown out a door or window again, it was never fun.

Penny frowned when she said they made fun of her name. ”But it’s a cool name.” It really was unique and different and the girl liked it. She sipped her drink and watched Kiden without trying to be creepy. ”I go to a boarding school I won’t get in trouble I don’t think. Besides you look like you might want a hot bath and a warm place to sleep.” Penny had never had a real sleep over before but she was learning when not to push. ”It’s completely up to you. At least let me get you a couple of the quilts?”

“If you say so.” she never really thought her name was that great but that’s just her she spouse someone out there would think it was cool she never met anyone who thought that until now. “It sounds nice even if it is a boarding school.” she said the last part like it wasn’t all that great she never liked going to school but it was only for one night so she guessed she could live with that. “Sure why not? Its not like I got anything better to do.”
