Sometime it was just easier for Kurt Wagener to try and blend in rather than to be himself and stand out. He understood why. He didn’t necessarily ever like it. But he knew, just by the reaction that he was gauging in regards to the news, that mutants weren’t to be tolerated… even ones that looked like. So, the young German kept using that image inducer like it was an addiction. It was, however, kind of freeing to be able to walk around without having to worry about the likes of angry mobs or even the slightly unnerved passing glance from his occasional classmate. Today was different, though.
Today Kurt Wagner was going to explore the Big Apple. To be honest, though, he didn’t know how big that meant New York was considering the fact that apples aren’t necessarily that large. But, as Kurt hopped of the train, he realized how big that Big Apple was. It was HUGE. Actually… the more he thought about it, the throngs of people were starting to make him a bit nervous. He checked the inducer for a moment, making sure it wouldn’t flicker out and breathed a sigh of relief before stuffing his hands back into his pocket. His holographic dark colored gaze darted from one attraction to the next, his jaw dropping a bit at the sheer size of the buildings. To be honest, the last time he had this much wonder go through him was the first time he’d set foot on the grounds of the Institute, before that it was when he’d been taken in at the monastery. This wasn’t a holy sort of impression or one that denoted freedom. This was just sheer, unadulterated fascination at the city.
As he moved with the flock of people trying to get to their destinations, Kurt found himself needing some sort of space, anything. He found some hole in the wall record store, pulled up the collar of his jacket and ducked into the building. He relaxed as he heard the slight buzz of the bass of people’s headphones as they sampled music. Kurt let out a soft exhale as he started looking around, not necessarily sure what he was in for. He had a modest allowance since he’d moved into the mansion that he’d been saving. Perhaps he’d consider spending it. He started looking through the used CDs, feeling more normal than he was used to.
