Scott was lying on his bed, He was expecting Jean over soon and he wasn't sure exactly what to say. She'd been having dreams and stuff recently, he wasn't really sure what that meant...but from the way the Professor was acting he assumed it was serious.
So far he'd not asked any questions about that area, he didn't want to dig if she found it uncomfortable but he felt that she needed to talk about this problem or at least he should know what was wrong. Maybe he could help...well he doubted that. The whole...mental...Psychic thing was far out of his knowledge. After all he only had eye lasers, but he could offer his support at least.

The latest juicy buzz around the mansion dealt with none other than the X-men's favorite red-head. After her display of power during the fights in DC and the re-emergence of that power that destroyed her entire bedroom...a lower scale of damage that had been done compared to what happened in DC. Now Jean had to face her boyfriend about whats been going on inside that mind of hers. Which, she didn't really want to talk about her power trouble, she just wanted to spend some time with Scott. It had been weeks since they'd done anything together.
"I'm here..." she projected to his mind, standing outside of his door.

With all thecrazy stuff going on recently, what with the attack on Washington and everything it felt like he hadn't seen Jean in forever. That's why his heart jumped when he heard her voice in his head. He was starting to get used to it but it still came as a surprise. He hopped up and went to the door, opening it he tried his best to smile at her from behind his red shades.
He wasn't sure how she was feeling so he gave her a peck on the lips before standing aside and letting Jean in. Scotts room was fairly basic like most of the students. He had a wardrobe facing the door with a bed and next to it a desk with a laptop sitting folded down on top and a simple office chair to sit on. The walls were fairly blank but along side the laptop he had a framed picture of the original students in their first year at the school. It all seemed such a long time ago now.
He begun with "Hey...it's nice to see you again, I've missed you." he offered her out a hand before continuing "I know all this weird stuff has been going on but I wanted to check that you've been okay."

"Hey. I've missed you too." she smiled returning the kiss and stepping into his room. She smiled back and took his hand squeezing it. "Everything is fine, now that I finally get to see you." she hugged him and rested her head on his shoulder and looked out the window. It was obvious he had heard about what had been happening with her powers and he was concerned about it.
"How have you been? You've been so busy, I was starting to think you'd ran away or something. It really is good to see you."

He hadn't really been around recently, he felt bad about that...after all he had to actually spend time with Jean or she might get angry and break their thing off before it got a chance to be serious. No, Scott had to stop being so negative about this relationship stuff...after all his crazy essay schedule had lightened up. He'd just have to make sure to not get too distracted by her so he didn't fall behind on his work. That was a harder task then it sounded.
He smiled when she said that she was okay now he was here. He wasn't sure if that was her just not wanting to explain it but he let it go as she hugged him, as Jean laid her head on his shoulder he placed one hand on her lower back and the other stroking down the back of her red hair. "Yeah...heh, well I kinda got a bit behind on my work, been a bit distracted lately with all the stuff...so I went and blitzed it. Took so long though, but...well I'm all free now..." he paused and smiled before indicating to the bed, after all they couldn't both sit on his computer chair...though that was an inviting option "Want to sit, I was kinda hoping we could discuss this power stuff, I want to know what's going on"

"Ah." she nodded as he explained his reasoning for his absence. Catching up on work was a solid reason so she wasn't upset or anything. Indicating the bed, Jean walked over and climbed on to it, crossing her legs and sat there as her left index finger twirled a red strand of hair around it and biting her lower lip nervously. He wanted to discuss her power stuff...great. Well, she supposed it was inevitable. It'd have to be brought up sometime...
"Well..." she sighed looking over at him. "I'm not exactly who you think I am...I guess? Apparently...there's...something else and I don't know. I keep having these dreams...a bird made out of fire and the fire consumes every thing. Sometimes, I can't control it and well...my room and what happened during the battle in DC. I don't know how many people I injured...or worse. Not to mention how I hurt my friends. It's just getting to be too much for me..." she said as she began to sweat a bit and her breaths becoming shallow. She'd been trying to place what happened in DC at the back of her mind...she couldn't even remember what happened. She blacked out and woke up in the infirmary next to her wounded allies. Whatever this thing was...it was causing her to be a danger to others around her now. The room started to shake as she shut her eyes and placed hands to her head in reaction to her emotions. It wasn't just this entity that was growing, but so were her natural mutant powers...

He saw the effect his question had on her and it was then that he was wondering if he had made the right decision. Her eyes seemed to drop as she nervously bit her lip and toyed with a lock of her hair.
He did his best to look understanding as she explained to him what was going on...but it was very strange, not exactly your average teenage problem. The worst part was that she'd already been through this stuff...the uncertainty and not knowing that your powers threw at you was bad enough, they'd all expirienced it but just when you'd gained control and gotten comfortable to have more weirdness shoved your way, well it was like the universe was picking on her.
When she finished speaking her breath started to get shallower, like she was having some sort of panic attack. As he went to grasp her hand and squeeze it tightly the room started to shake. Was this what had happened when she blew her room? fear gripped him, he wanted to run but he kenw that wouldn't help...and he couldn't abandon Jean, so he just squeezed her hand. Moving closer his whispered "Jean, don't worry. I'm here. It's okay. I'll keep you safe" the statement didn't lose it's slight humour on Scott. After all his girlfriend could make him a stain on the wall if she wanted to, he just hoped she could control herself.

"That's...I can.... she squeezed his hand back. Apparently the force found Scott's presence to be soothing and comforting just as Jean did. It was odd but control was starting to return. The room was becoming still again and her breathing returned to normal.
"I'm sorry...I'm trying to stay together. It's getting harder everyday." she sighed running the other hand through her red hair. Sniffing a bit, she shook her head. She knew she couldn't keep dealing with this forever and people could tell her to get control, but this was more than just a power growth. "I don't know how much longer I can keep stable."

Cyclops let out a breath as she squeezed his hand. She was starting to calm, but Scott noticed that more because of the status of the room more then anything else. He liked the fact he was able to calm her...it made him feel less helpless in the whole situation.
His lips pursed as Jean said the problem was getting worse every day. How much worse could it get? could she take out the entire school? the entire state maybe? who knows hwo powerful Jean was...but she didn't need thinking like that, so he squeezed her hand again before letting go and wrapping his arms around her, trying to pull her in to his chest "Don't worry Jean...we'll find something, I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I know how scared you must be, not knowing how to control your powers...and I know it's going to take more then fancy goggles to make you better but I won't stop until we find a way"

"Scott...thank you." Jean said with a appreciative smile across her lips. That moment, she realized how truly lucky she was to have him. Any other guy would have probably ran for the hills already and even though there probably wasn't anything he could do, at least he was trying. Refrain that, he was helping, very much providing himself to be a steady rock that Jean needed to keep a grip on for the sake of her own sanity. He said he wouldn't let anything happen to her and she wanted to respond and tell him not to make promises he couldn't keep and had no control over. She didn't want to ruin the moment and so, she chose to just stay in his arms and buried her face in his chest. There wasn't a place she felt more content and safe than in the arms of Scott Summers. Sure, Slim could be a bit of a stick in the mud and was a bit of a dork at times...especially playing Dungeon and Dragons with Adam, but he was her stick in the mud nerd.
"I'm sorry if I'm being a burden. You really don't have to do this, Scott. I don't want you to get hurt in case I completely lose it or something. I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you because I couldn't keep control."

Scott smiled as she nustled her head in to his chest. Hr was glad he could help her, now he just had to think of a way to help her...the professor didn't know, which shot down his normal first port of call the second was....well it didn't matter, he wasn't here any more and he was also a wanted man, a terrorist and a murderer...but there was no denying he was a brilliant mind.
Running a finger up and down her spine he thought maybe he should bring up the possibility, though being a telepath she might already know what he was thinking...did she look in to his mind often? well that wasn't something to worry about now "Jean, in the spirit of...helping, I was wondering. The professor his trying I know and I'm sure eventually I know he'll come up with a solution but have you ever thought of contacting....other people?"

"...Other people?" the telepath looked back up at him with a rather confused look. "I can't really say that I have. I mean besides you and the professor...the only other person I ever felt comfortable to talk about this kind of thing was Mr. Lensherr and well, yeah. I think we're both on the same page about him." she sighed lowering her face back into Scott's chest.
"Though...the option of taking a power drill to my right temple has crossed my mind. It was bad enough I could hear other people's thoughts. Now I have something else living in my head. I can honestly ask....why me?" she paused knowing that was a really morbid thing to say, but...she was in a rather depressed mood. Then she remembered who she was with right now. No matter how low and confused she felt, she had Scott Summers to act as a rock to hold on to. "Though, the thought of that is just absurd. I can't check out right when I found someone to love..."

Scott shuddered when she talked about putting a power drill through her skull. He didn't like imagining any situation that would leave her hurt. Let alone dead, he wasn't sure what he could say though...she did seem to have such bad luck. Perhaps there was a reason he could think of...
"Maybe...maybe you need to go through this stuff, your the best of us, the most powerful...I guess you might need to be worthy of all that power you've got, so you'll know how to use it for the right reasons.... he tried to some comfortingly at her and continued with "But I'm here to be with you, believe me Jean. I'm not going to let you down.

"If this is what I have to go through to be powerful, I rather just be normal. In fact, I'm starting to wish I was human now." Jean sighed. Life as a mutant was complicated enough, she didn't need something else in her head fighting for control. If being worthy of this power meant random explosions and hurting innocents and her friends, she definitely didn't want it.
"Thank you, Scott. I know you won't. You never have." she replied and reaching up to press her lips against his.

He knew how she felt, he doubted there were any mutants who that in their darkest moments hadn't secretly wished for that dream of normality. Most young humans wished they could fly or shoot fire, they didn't really understand what it was like.
He wasn't sure what he could say really...this wasn't a simple problem, not like she was ahving troubles with another student or failing classes...those problems he could do something direct, help her solve the problems. For this situation he was on the sidelines, offering support from afar whilst she tackled this demon. It was quite frustrating.
When she leant forward and kissed him all of the things he was thinking of saying simply flowed away. In truth he didn't know what he was going to say to make it all better...so this was a really welcome break. He let his lips linger, raising a hand to place on her cheek as he continued to kiss her. At least this was one thing he could do to get her thoughts off of the whole explosions thing.
