The florescent lighting within the training room made her golden skin even more dark. Maya quickly punched the large punching bag in front of her before giving it a quick right side kick. Her form was perfect, as she could see in the mirror. She had become stronger, faster and more proficient in her fighting. Not only was she better, Maya had more time to practice the old fashion way - by actually hitting things instead of observing.
Maya stopped to look in the mirrors of the room. Her face was only slightly beaded with sweat, but her clothes showed her hard work. Just then her stomach let out a low rumble. That was what she got for working out late. She dotted her face with the green towel and walked out from the room.
She made her way down to the dining hall and looked around the empty dining hall. "Damn, just missed the penne." she muttered as she looked at the clock. It was 7:30. Apparently her session in the training room took longer than she thought.

Maya wasn’t the only one engaging in physical activity, the Massachusetts’ Academy’s very own rich layabout, too, was taking the opportunity to work up a sent. Of course where she’d opted to take the more violent route of punching bag doom, Julian had instead chosen to go with his firm favourite and just shoot a few hoops on the outdoors court.
Lately due to a recent bout of general laziness, lack of direction in his life, and relative lull in the war against Apocalypse, he’d accrued massive stockpile of pent up energy and was eager to burn it off. Finally as the light gradually grew dimmer with each passing hour, not to mention having fully run the course of any entertainment you could get from playing solo, he decided to call it quits and grab some belated dinner, not that he was that hungry.
His blue eyes settled on the familiar figure of Maya Lopez as he entered the now empty dining room, a student before he’d arrived and now a teacher at the academy. She was attractive as all hell, but even to his generally low sense of empathy he could tell the woman was hung up on someone else, so she was effectively off his radar, which was a pity, since he had a thing about playing with other people’s ‘food’ as it were. The black haired TK wielder frowned at that last thought, his hunger colouring his thoughts and hinting he was more hungry than he’d originally thought.
“Missed dinner, too, huh?” As he spoke the phone rose out of its cradle in another room with a the faint glow of green energy that was the trademark of his particular brand of telekinesis, zipping across the room and dropping into his outstretched hand. From there it was a simple matter of shifting through the phone’s inbuilt memory for the right number , the Academy long a go having pretty much discovered every takeaway joint within the immediate area and at one time ordered from it. He finally settled on a number and pressed call, glancing up to Maya as it began to ring. “You good with Chinese, yeah? Not that it really matters, ‘cause I’m ordering Chinese.”

Maya looked down at the guy that walked into the room. If she hadn't been staring at the clock above the entrance, she would have been completely taken by surprise. Maya had accidentally punched someone who thought it was a good idea to play the 'guess who' game with her. It didn't take long for her to realize it was Madrox, but she did get him on his back in a more than uncomfortable position. Everyone else knew that sneaking up on a deaf girl such as Maya was hazardous to their health.
It took her a minute to realize it was Julian Keller that spoke to her. He was just two years younger and one inch taller than her. Maya wasn't sure that she ever really hung out with him when she was a student, but he was an okay guy. She knew that his reputation as a bad boy was something that slightly overshadowed his more than capable telekinetic powers. " Yeah I did. Sure that sounds great. Thanks. " she said surprised by his offer. It wasn't like he'd pay for her takeout, but it was nice to be asked if she wanted anything. Just as she thought there was a glimmer of gallantry within him, he said something very Julian Kellerish. Maya just smirked and didn't remark on it, she was in the mood for Kung Pow Chicken anyways.
"Do they have Kung Pow chicken?" she asked as he was on the phone. Maya never could order take out, unless it was on the computer like some 'modern' chains has set up. Her relationship with the telephone was limited to texting and web surfing. However it did come in handy when someone asked her for her number - how could they call her again if she can't hear them?
"So what were you up to that you couldn't make dinner?" she asked casually while pulling her black hair from its pony tail holder.

It seemed a couple of the hellions were engaged in some sort of physical activity for the evening. Noriko Ashida had decided to get her own work out in with a jog around the perimeters of the school. Staring on her 5th lap was when her decided to grow indicating that it was running low on fuel and that it was time to gas back up. She was feeling a bit hungry now and it was around supper time so now was as good to turn in to grab some grub.
After returning inside, Noriko made her way to the dining hall shaking loose her blue strands from it's pony tail as she noticed two other people there as well and over heard the discussion of ordering chinese. Perfect. When she entered, she spotted Maya Lopez, someone Noriko wasn't all that close to, but she didn't have a problem with the other woman, so she gave a genuine smile and greeted her with a simple "Hey.". The other person however, well there were some mixed feelings for Noriko when it came to Julian Keller. Since she'd arrived 5 years ago, the two have always had a rivalry going on and there was much tension between the two. Blame Julian for her Jerk ass attitude, something Noriko wasn't fond of at all, especially what he did to her the first time she had came to the institute. That bitterness had faded a bit through the years though.
"Well, if you're ordering, get me an order of Honey Chicken with steamed vegetables and rice, please." part of her loathed asking him for a favor, but whatever, she was too damn hungry to care. Hopefully he wouldn't be too much of an asshole to deny her request.

“Do they have Kung Pao Chicken? Of course they do, what kind of place doesn’t?” He replied with the typical eye roll he pulled off every time someone asked what he perceived to be a stupid question. Truthfully he had no idea personally if they did or didn’t, not really being a fan of the chicken dishes that such takeaways served, but surely they would have something like that. Thankfully the tinny sound of someone answering directed his attention away from commenting further and possibly digging himself into an even deeper hole should be proven wrong.
“Hey, yeah, this is the Massachusetts Academy, I’ve got an order. Delivery.... Yeah, can I get some Kung Pao Chicken – You do that right? ... You do, huh? Yeah some of that,” He spoke down the receiver, flashing Maya a look that just screamed ‘ha, I was right’ before continuing to relay his own order. “And I’d like a portion of Szechuan Beef and Singapore Fried rice.”
The familiar voice of Noriko Ashida caused Julian to narrow his eyes slightly in displeasure, a frown briefly twisted his features into a sour look. Truthfully the Telekinetic didn’t know what it was about the electric mutant that irritated him so much, just that, on a fundamental level, she’d rubbed him completely up the wrong way from day one. Admittedly that was probably more his fault than it was hers, but he stubborn refused to see it that way in the typical Julian Keller is right, you’re wrong fashion that defined him so well. Besides part of him had begun to enjoy the competitive game of payback that the two had played over the last five years, it would be a shame to ruin it by being nice all the time. That said, he was pretty sure it was her ‘turn’ so to speak, so there was little reason to be petty and ignore or mess with her order, not massively at least. Besides, the fact she’d actually swallowed some of that legendary Ashida pride and asked him was odd enough to warrant just a little civility between them. Just a little.
“...Yeah, and I’d like throw in an order of Honey Chicken with steamed vegetables and rice to that, too. Although feel free to go ahead and skimp on that one.” He added the last part with a glance to the blue haired woman in front of him, feigning an innocent expression that just asked for a slap. Not literally of course, Julian had been at the other end of those metal monstrosities that Nori wore once too often for him to actively want that again. “Payment on delivery, thanks.”
With that he ended the call and tossed the phone onto one of the dining room’s tables with negligent grace, not even bothering to use his power to return it back to it’s cradle. Why should he bother when someone would eventually do it for him, there was no sense in wasting the few seconds of concentration it needed if he didn’t need to after all. Actually returning it himself physically didn’t even enter into his mind as he glanced to Echo as she voiced another question.
“Shooting hoops, mostly. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance between studying and... Well, you know, all the crap that seems to rain down on us lately.” Truthfully he kind of enjoyed all the chaos, it gave him ample opportunity to utilise his powers and show off from time to time, both two of his favourite past times. “So that was kinda cool, I guess. What about you two?”

Maya wasn't sure what Chinese takeout places had what food. She generally made her meals herself or what ever the cooks whipped up for the student's and faculty. Calling out was only on special occasions like this when she missed the last call. It would have been just as easy for her to take a trip into the city at a bar, but she was too tired from her day. The woman was thankful for someone else ordering takeout.
Out of the corner of her eye, Maya saw another figure approaching. The girl named Noriko or Surge gave the deaf woman a quick "hey" before placing her order in to Julian. Maya smiled at Surge, she didn't know her very well, but she knew about her killer powers. Echo also knew about the little rivalry between the two, Julian and Noriko. From the rumors going arounc school they were hardcore about the pranks they played on one another.
"Hey Noriko." she said while looking back at Julian with his smug attitude. She waited patiently for him to get off the telephone. "So how are you?" she asked Surge politely.
Maya turned when Julian threw the phone on the dining table and tilted her head curiously. "Not enough juice to bring it back?" she teased lightly. She watched as he told her that he'd just been playing basketball and reference to Apocalypse. The woman nodded while responding, "Just went down to the training room. Lost track of time down there.'' she said while taking a seat at one of the dining chairs. If they were going to wait for the food, she was going to be comfy.

Noriko glared back at Julian. Skimp on her portions? In just infuriated her on how juvenile he still acted. It made it worse that he always managed to bring out the worst in her and making her seem like a hypocrite. Well, not tonight. She would be the bigger person and decide not to retaliate or even give him the satisfaction of knowing he'd struck a nerve. Besides if he wanted to be an immature dick, she'd just take some of his food.
"I'm alright." she responded with the proper sign language gestures to accompany her speech. Yes, Nori was aware that Maya could read lips, but you never know. She could read her lips as saying one thing when she said something completely different. "Just came in from my running and I missed dinner. Looks like I had dropped in just in time." she smiled at Maya and then looked forward not even bothering to look in the telekinetic mutant's direction. "Gotta stay in tip top condition. Never know when we'll be out on the battle field again, hopefully soon. Sitting around here waiting while he's gaining territory every hour is a bit unbearable." and of course she was referring to Apocalypse, the root of everyone's problems in the current day and age.

Julian just gave his regular issue self-satisfied smug smirk in response to Noriko’s glare, somewhat pleased with himself that he’d at least irritated her. Sure it was a petty gesture, even he knew that on some level, but it was still oddly amusing to the Californian to watch her reactions to it all. A guy needed to make his own form of entertainment around this place after all, and playing with Noriko Ashida still hadn’t grown old after five years. Currently she was pulling of what he liked to call her ‘Ignore and pretend to be superior’ strategy, a move she only seemed to pull out while the pair were in front of company, otherwise her reaction would of probably been somewhat more vocal and/or electrifying. Literally.
“More a case of why bother.” He replied to Maya’s teasing remark about running out of juice, sparing her a small nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. “I mean, it’ll end up back there with or without my help, so what’s the point?”
He made a point of shielding a bored yawn and giving an over exaggerated eyeroll as Noriko spoke on about what she’d been doing. Not that he disagreed with her about the waiting, he, too, was eager to see some action, particularly in light that Apocalypse was practically steam rollering upwards from central America with no sign of stopping. He didn’t even want to think of what had befallen his home state of California, and could only hope that his parents had made it out in one piece. After all, as much as he professed to be fine with the way they parted ways some five years ago, he did still feel guilty about some of the things he put his parents through after he got his powers. He still loved them at the end of the day. Not that he’d let any of that show, he had a reputation to uphold after all. “We’ll probably see more than enough action soon, I guess. It’s too quite lately, and that’s always a sure sign the shit’s gonna hit the fan.”

Maya watched as Surge responded to her question in sign language along with her verbal response as well. She smiled as she watched the hand motions more closely than her lips. It had been a while since she communicated that way, and she was slightly impressed by that gesture. Maya grinned, "Seems that way.". The woman nodded and turned to Julian, "Thanks by the way." she said.
The woman looked back and forth between the two of them. It was nerve racking for her to just do normal things, like have three jobs, when the world was crashing around her. "If something big does go down, I think we should be preparing more." she said while crossing her legs in her seat.

"What else is there there to do to be prepared. Emma is a telepath so she should know when an attack is going to be heading our way. All of us are taking advantage of the down time trying to keep fit." Noriko frowned walking towards the counter and hopping up to take a seat onto it. Her feet dangling over the edge as her gauntlets sparked while she curled her fists. The waiting was irking her a bit, but she also knew just charging into battle without any sort of strategy and just being reckless would most likely lead to their graves. Thinking about how many graves has been filled because of Apocalypse pissed her off more. She was thankful he hadn't touched Japan yet and that hopefully, her family was alright.
"But Julie is right. This is probably just the calm before the storm. " she sighed looking up at the ceiling. She knew he hated being called that, but you know even she had to admit that he[/i] it was cute.
