No secret that Apocalypse had begun is reign over the world and that many countries had already fallen under his power. His evil had even begun to touch the shores of America. The southern states had fallen and now his touch was creeping up the west coast of the United States. More recently, California. Word had caught on and Emma immediately dispatched two of her most capable Hellions to scout out the place and to call for any back up if needed. It was just a shame that they were also the worst of rivals. Noriko Ashida and Julian Keller aka Surge and Scion, on a mission without anyone to block them from going at each others throats. Maybe in the old days it wouldn't have been possible, but they've matured...somewhat. Aside from the quick and witty retorts and the pranks here and there. She still owed him big for that stunt he pulled of moving all her furniture onto the lawn....when the sprinklers were on. God damn it, the favor would definitely be returned.
The two speeders were not in need of transportation as their powers provided them with more than enough juice to travel great distances without the aid of a vehicle. The two arrived in California, more specifically Beverly Hills, the apparent home of her rival. From the pictures, the place looked as beautiful and smug like the telekinetic who once inhabited it, but now thanks to Apocalypse, the place had been royally trashed. Your standard post-apocalyptic setting (pun may be intended) of buildings reduced to rubble, dust floating in the air, debris littering every direction, roads torn up, bodies twisted and contorted in ways they shouldn't be unless you were Mr. Fantastic.
"...Home sweet home, huh?" Nori said looking over to the telekinetic. "You're the tour guide. Where should we start?

Beverley Hills. The once bright and colourful area was now remarkably withdrawn, as if some grey cloud had settled over it and sucked the very energy out of it, something that was a very real possibility all things considered. It was like walking into a surreal horror movie, only this one was fact, not fiction. Already the enthusiasm Julian had felt the moment he was given this assignment had fled from his mind, replaced instead by a sinking feeling of overwhelming trepidation as he stared at the desolate scenes before him. The pristine neighbourhood houses burned out and reduced to rubble, roads cracked and broken into countless pieces, and everywhere you looked a blackened corpse was strewn in an unnatural position. Thankfully the bodies no longer recognisable to anyone, not that it was very likely he’d know any of them given the general population size of Beverley Hills. Well, former population size.
The part of him that had wanted to know if his family had gotten out safely like a few other lucky individuals wasn’t so sure now, and the very real possibility that they had in fact, as some facet of his mind had known from the start, shared the same fate of those before him. It was one of the reasons that he’d put down several blocks from his family’s residence and not just headed there at full speed. After all, every minute he allowed the question to go unanswered was a minute he didn’t have to accept a truth he didn’t want to. Sure his family hadn’t been the greatest one to have growing up, but they were still just that. His family. A sound echoing in his ears drew his attention back to the real world and out of his increasingly dark musings, and it took several seconds for him to realise that Noriko was speaking to him.
“Where should we start?” Julian repeated dumbly in a low mumble, his brown eyes slowly blinking as the words slowly sunk in and registered in his mind. It was usually at this point that he’d of covered his mental lapse with an attempt to say something smart, to put her down or something in that same vein, but he just couldn’t find it in him at this given moment. Instead he just regarded her quietly for a few moments, biting his bottom lip as he struggled to find the courage necessary to take the next step, before scrubbing his face and deciding to bite the bullet. “My house, I guess. I have to know before we go on, I have to know they got out all right.”

Noriko's brow arched at her fellow Hellion. Something wasn't right. No attitude, no immature quips? Was what happened here taking a toll on him? Did Julian Keller actually have a heart and emotions? Alright, perhaps thinking that was a little harsh considering that the guy was standing in his hometown surrounded by destruction and death. Noriko could only imagine she'd be going through if Japan had been attacked by Apocalypse even if she hadn't had contact for her family for nearly 6 years. She was lucky that her home was still in tact, too bad she couldn't say the same for her teammate.
“My house, I guess. I have to know before we go on, I have to know they got out all right.”
It didn't take a brain like Dr. Dooms to figure out that he was speaking about his family. This was getting more awkward by the moment. She was actually concerned and hoping the best for him and that his folks had made it out fine.
"Alright. We'll head there then. Lead the way." she said blowing a stray strand of blue from her face and sent out a silent prayer in hoping they don't stumble upon anyone's bodies at the Keller residence.
