Adam was taking a much needed trip to town, so with an image inducer to hide the old golden skin, the peeps on top of the food chain in Xavier's had a policy on not letting everyone know about the whole mutant thing. People weren't ready they said.
That was fine with Adam, he was just hitting down so he could pick up a new video game, he had been looking for a new MMORPG. He just wasn't so sure what he wanted, but he had time to burn and cash to spend, thank you parents. So with his good jeans on and his black Superman T-shirt he jumped off the bus. Oh what a glorious day it would be.
With a skip in his step and a smile on his face he made his way through town, New York was such a friendly city, that of course was a lie. Every second person you nearly bumped into proved how colourful their vocabulary was. No matter, for Adam was quite distracted by some window shopping, he was glancing in one particular window, a short had caught his attention. "I'd be like a seventeen year old Brad Pitt if I had that shirt." But he couldn't afford the shirt and City of Heroes. Why did such dilemmas plague his mind?

Well, certainly she didn't have a shopping trip planned today. Considering she was usually, if not always strapped for cash, she was more-so on the lookout for a job she could take up for the time being, save up some cash until she got bored out of her mind doing the same thing day in and day out, quit, then start the cycle all over again. Now, granted she was having quite a time trying to fill in her free time seeing as for the time being, nobody was hiring. Application after application, and over and over hearing the endless 'sorry' from manager to manager. She was getting slim pickings now, wasn't too happy about it, so she was deciding to just wait it out, give the places a few weeks to breathe and then start up again.
So, to get her mind off the topic at hand, she decided to go for a walk. A long, long walk. She didn't have much to do in her own little sardine can of an apartment anyway, the power was staying off to save electricity and cut her bills in half so she certainly couldn't sit around all day watching television. Walks were not only healthy, but it served as a humorous way to exercise those powers of her and hone them in and make them stronger. Just mess with a few people's days was all it took to amuse the heck out of the girl, to see the look on their faces when they got surprised and bewildered by their suddenly boiling (and skin-burning) drinks, or that their once sweaty foreheads froze over and shivered themselves into states of hypothermia. Really, it was amusing...don't argue with me people, just roll with it. Just because you're not in her shoes doesn't mean you can't say it wasn't amusing.
With that cigarette burning away between her lips she had her hands in her pockets, moving through the herds of people heading in the opposite direction of herself. As she expected, she got the rude little coughs from those around her, obviously hating the smell of nicotine and that apparently disgusting habit of hers. She was half-expecting someone to audibly start complaining about the horrible smell of her burning Parliament, or how smoking was the most revolting addiction ever. Luckily, all she got were the rude coughs and the dirty looks. She could deal with that. Just step lightly, citizens. Wouldn't want a pissed off Lydia in your midst. Now, it just so happened that while on her time-passing stroll that she encountered someone gazing into a shop window like he was looking over a pet shop and the puppies were just that enticing and cute to look at it. She half thought it really was a pet shop until she saw that it wasn't anything but a clothing store. And by how he oogled in a certain direction, he was fawning over that certain shirt in the window. Of course, taking up space on the sidewalk, it was inevitable that she collided with him and stumbled a little bit. Brow furrowing, she turned around and flicked her ashes on the cement ground, obviously a little irritated.
"You know can go inside and look at it, right?"

"Yeah I know...." Adam replied, as someone random person in the street starting talking to him, to which he had nothing against, she was mighty purdy. "But you see....if I go in I'll be more tempted to buy that shirt, which I have the money for, but not what I came into town to buy." He had to watch his monies, he didn't have a job, although getting one might be an idea, but if something ever happened to his image inducer, it would be really problematic.
The youth scratched at his chin, unsure of what to do.....shirt or game.....shirt or game. The game would certainly bring him more entertainment over the next few weeks, but after that it was harder to call. The shirt could go either way. The game was certainly the safer bet. "Don't cha wish you had like....unlimited money." He fingered the money in his pocket...he needed a wallet too.
