If Mimic wished to interpret her remarks as an insult, fine. It only showed his lack of comprehension, especially when he assumed her powers were not under control. Sure she couldn't make her abilities listen to her, it was an instinctive sort of reaction, but she could handle it; all she really needed help with was their mechanics, so she could understand them. But it mattered very little, Heather was already too far off to hear Calvin's comments, as she was scanning the zoo's inhabitants.
"Hm?" she asked, swearing someone said something. Turning around slightly, by Mimic's posture, she could deduce it was him. Come to think of it, it had to be. Heather recognized the voice. "Your call, mate. Though I don't think I'll be findin' anything there, we can try."
Returning to face-forward position, Heather proceeded to walk in the direction of the aquatic area of the zoo. "This assignment isn't all that hard." she informed her fellow Hellion. "Just put too much literal thought into it, you'll miss the point. Ms. Frost isn't lookin' for a perfect match, you won't find one, she wants to see the depth of your choice; fancy words, symbolism, that jazz."

Sam looked at Emma he knew how they responded to her at lest the boy's anyways. Everyday almost like clock work they talked about how they could get in her pants."I think ya need ta work on the boy's more they not responding like your thinking." he said as he got a Pepsi from the vendor before he left. "Mr. Cameron has taken a liking ta falling asleep in class if he ain't doing that he's making moon eyes Miss Lee. If it's all right I was thinking about switching there classes so they wont be together." he took a drink of soda "That's all the problems I've been having. Promising? I think Miss Colbert if we can get her to come out of her shell." he said smirking at Emma it must be rear for her to find someone interesting being a telepath she must find most people boring.

Jubilee continued through the zoo towards the bug exhibits. Along the way she saw various other creatures, birds, lions, alligators, chimps...and the asian teen would have shown more enthusiasm in seeing them if it wasn't for Ms. Frosts' crappy assignment lingering in her mind.
She had finally found the bug exhibits and entered the building, less than thrilled in having to watch and read about ants and roaches. She wasn't very fond on insects in the first place. Just thinking about them made her cringe...except for butterflies and ladybugs. They were pretty. Her hands tucked behind her back, Jubilee strolled on over to the beetle section. Going in alphabetical order in the names, Jubilee found herself stopping at the Bombardier Beetle. That was a weird name...did it like drop bombs or something? Bombs were similar to her powers...she scurried over to the glass to check the little guys out and read the info cards.
As she read Jubilee found herself shocked that she had actually found something similar to her powers. The little bug it expelled chemicals explosively to defend it's self...like she could send out her pafs to explode. "Yo Babe...I think I found my animal..." she called to Davis. Now all she needed was 5 reasons why. "5 reasons...This thing explodes with sparks, the chemicals it shoots out is hot, it's awesome, it's unique, it rocks. Just like me." she smiled pulling her shades down over her eyes.

Nobody seemed too keen on talking to Warren which was suited him just fine. As the others wandered off on their own he took the chance to be alone. He headed off to view some of the exhibits before finishing Frost's assignment. Warren had no interests in the exhibits for animals like the flamingos, elephants, giraffes or anything of that sort. Instead the animals he felt like watching where the predators of the animal kingdom. He spent a couple of minutes watch the lions, tigers and bears. He felt more of a kinship to these predators then he did to his own classmates currently. Also he knew what it felt like to be locked in a cage, a very nice cage with all sorts of amenities but a cage none the less.
After viewing these animals for a time he headed over to the bird exhibits. Walking in there felt strange, especially as all the birds stopped chirpping and simply stared at him. They could feel what he truly was, the biggest predator among them. He read about a specific falcon that had its own section of the exhibit. Taking what he needed and turned to head back to the food court. As he traveled there he caught sight of the two teachers and approached them without hesitation.
"Peregrine Falcon," he said matter of factly, "it has wings, hollow bones, can fly, is a predator and has special adaptations like its beak which make it a better killing machine. That is the animal that represents my powers the best." As he spoke Warren tucked his hands into his sweat shirt and simply stood by waiting idly for their respone.

Davis dragged around the bug exhibit scoping out all the different species that they had. And man were there a lot of them. He was used to being around bugs since he had been around them his whole life. He leaned over to get a better look at the spider display, tapping on the glass to make them a little riled up. And these weren't the little small spiders, these were big ol Tarantulas. As he tapped on the glass a little harder, one of the creatures jumped onto the glass right near his face. If this was in the wild he would be a goner right now. Davis laughed at the creature for a moment before strolling over to Jubilee when she called him.
He placed an arm around her waist and stared at the bug. Her five reasons started out okay then just got slow. "Babe I like the reasons, but you know Frost ain't gonna like em. Might wanna come up with some different ones." He chuckled and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Now he had to find himself an animal with his powers.... yea right. "Let's head over to the cat exhibit. Wanna check out the cheetahs."

Emma looked over as Warren approached. She smiled welcoming at him and had him sit before he spouted off his animal and it's reasons. Emma nodded her head as she listened. It all sounded pretty reasonable to her. "The wings were a cheap fly but I'll let you steal it" Emma said with a slight humor in her eye. She looked up at Warren and shook her sadly as she 'tutted'. "You'll fit in Mr. Worthington" she said to him, "I know at the moment perhaps not but give it time. You are rather new to the Academy." she said. She looked over at the other kids. They all seemed to fit in rather cozily. Warren however was a different story all together.. She supposed this was due to his parents harsh reaction to his wings. She didn't doubt it for a second. She looked back over to him and asked "What classes are you taking this semester Warren?"

Calvin and Heather continued to speak as the entered into the aquarium.
"Well hopefully you're right. Ms. Frost usually tries to find a way to force as to think outside the box. Plus if we screw up the assignment I'm sure she'll let us know."
As they continued walking Calvin saw countless animals. All of them where different and since he hadn't spent time out at sea Calvin really didn't recognize anything outside the usual stuff like sea turtles and what not.
"So any ideas on which animal you'll pick?" he asked her.

"I'm pretty sure I am." she replied, confident that Emma would appreciate a better thought out response. Blunt or literal choices only showed a lack of critical thinking, a trait so essential to individualism. "And I wouldn't worry, your powers are too useful" among other things "for Emma to earn your disfavor. Just do whatever; I'm going to."
That out of the way, Heather could scan the aquarium. Interesting, glass cases with lots of fish and marine life inside of them, floating, swimming, sloshing side to side. "No." she answered Mimic's question, leaving a moment of silence before picking up. "The animal I considered doesn't thrive too well outside home turf."

"Different reasons? Pfft, yeah right. Fine. We're both alive, we both use our powers for defense and we're both here in Boston. There. I'm not changing them again. If she doesn't like them, oh well..." Jubilee shrugged and hugged Davis back.
"Ooh, yes! The cat exhibit! Thunder...Thunder...Thunder! Thundercats! Hoooooooo!!!!!" she laughed. "Ok, Cheetahs it is then. Lets go!" she smiled grabbing his hand and dragging him along.

Davis shrugged when she sorta changed her five reasons for choosin the bug that she did. Honestly he didn't really care about the assignment or if he passed or failed. Not like he had any plans to go to college or something, get a job... maybe and that's bout it. But for now, it was time to focus on the present and head on over to the cat house. He chuckled when Jubes grabbed his hand and dragged him there like a ragdoll. "I hated that show actually."
Once they made it to the big cat exhibit, Davis immediately went towards the cheetahs. There were lean yet muscular and the fastest land mammals alive, well besides himself. Yep this cat was most definitely the choice for him. "The cheetah. Cus it's fast like me and muscular and awesome... and dammit I don't really care about this assignment so whatever." Davis shrugged with a lethargic look on his face. This zoo trip sucked all because the Frost turned it into a friggin assignment.
He stared at the cats for a moment, then placed a hand on his chin in thought. What could he do to enhance this little field trip? Hmmmm. Davis looked down at Jubilee for a second, then the cats, then Jubilee, then the cats, then Jubilee. Finally reaching a decision he laughed to himself. "Hehehehe, I got something that a really spice this joint up. Sheila I need ya to create a diversion for me. Do whatever you have to." With that said, Davis turned around and starting walking towards the least busy spot of the area.

"You hate all the classics, god, you're starting to suck at life, Davis," Jubilee sighed following the surfer to the cat section. The asian teen stood behind her boyfriend with arms crossed blowing a bubble with her gum waiting for Davis to get done looking. Then he looked at her asking her to make a diversion. She could tell by the look on his face he was thinking up to no good. "
"You sure this is a great idea? Cause...I don't feel like hearing Ms. Frost's and Mr. Guthrie's mouths..." Jubilee sighed.
"Whatever..." she shrugged making a few pafs in her hands and allowing them to roll onto the floor, glowing eerily and catching the attention of the people passing by. Jubilee slowly walked away far enough and once caught up to Davis, she mentally detonated the pafs causing bright explosions of colors to flare from the jungle cat area of the zoo and some flying up into the sky for a little daytime fireworks show. The zoo goers scrambled from the explosion, some fallen over to the ground after having been blinded by the detonation.
"This had better be worth it Davis..." Jubilee huffed, blowing another bubble with her gum.

Emma was sipping on some interesting juice the zoo cafe made and chatting with Sam, when she heard a commotion. She looked behind her and saw some small explosions appearing near the cat section was i? Yes, it sure was, she confirmed as she read a few civilians who fleed by. Sighing she stood up and looked over at Sam. "Well Mister Guthrie, I suppose now we enter proper adult phase" she said as she made her way over to the exhibit, her mind reaching to the students. Calvin, Heather, Davis, Jubilation, and Warren, please come to the boarding section for buses. We have to depart immediately], Emma sent out a telepathic order. She had a small inkling of who this was, and she wanted to be sure. She made her way to the bus boarding area, arms crossed over her chest, eyes narrowed, looking every bit 'the teacher'

Davis could barely contain his laughter as Jubilee creating those colorful explosions of.... whatever the hell they were. The crowd that was once around the cat exhibit was now running around in a state of panic, perfect. He teleported over the protective barrier into the cheetah spot and grabbed a hold of the nearest one while its back was turned. Before anyone else or the cheetah could notice, he teleported a few feet down from this exhibit into another one.... one filled with gazelle and other small herbivores.
Davis quickly released the big cat and teleported over the barricade where no one was currently at. With a smile on his face he watched as the cheetah spotted the little buggers and chased after them. The hungry cat managed to catch one of the gazelles then sunk its teeth into its neck. The little kids around were horrified at seeing such a thing... which made him erupt in laughter. "Oh man too sweet!" But sadly his entertainment was interupted by a message from Miss Frost.
He placed his hands in his pockets with a satisfied sigh. "Looks like the Frost lady caught wind of your fireworks." He knew that they would probably be scowled for this. "Meh it was worth it."

That was an utter failure. Heather had not found anything to replace her first choice, but there was no need for excuses. The Hellion would just suck it up and move on, a lack of strength was detrimental to the up and coming generation of mutants. Emma Frost did not seem like the kind of person to accept that, nor was Heather Cameron the kind of person to be that.
"I guess that's it." she said, sure that Calvin had also heard Ms. Frost's telepathic message. "Wonder how Davis is doing, or if he even found something." Davis was, well, unique, yeah, that worked. Among other things, her sibling was one of a kind and to know such an animal existed that could be like him, it was surprisingly amusing to consider. "Can't wait to see."
Of course Heather did not have an animal, well, one that could be found here. Her primary choice was a Duckbill Platypus. It looked different, it had adapted to its surroundings, and most of all it was outstanding when placed aside others. Egotistical? Maybe, but Lifeguard possessed an unique - if almost badly written fanfic-esque - ability.
Like her fellow Australian mammal, Heather stuck out like a sore thumb. A fact she was reminded of as she approached the buses, all aimed to return them to the Massachusetts Academy.
