"Nans, no... Wait! Nans! Why do I have to change schools? I like my school, my school likes me, we have a very solid relationship. Why did you convince dad to change my schools?" Chance was already in one prep academy he didn't see the need to change to another one. He hadn't gotten expelled or even suspended. Detention maybe once or twice but that didn't mean anything. "Master Chance, there are some things that are better left for you to discover on your own. I have my reasons for doing this and you are just going to have to trust me." Oh dear God she was taking the snotty formal tone with him. This can't be good, this so can't be good. It's never good when Nans says to trust her, that means he's not going to like what he's about to find out. What is it about this school that was so damned important? Think man, think.[/color] Now the question truly is if he knew he was a mutant. Well yes he did, sort of. He knew he was different but it never dawned on him truly why.
That was how he found himself in the entrance hall of a pretty swanky place. Alright he had to give them props it was better looking than his old school. Blue eyes narrowed as he took in his surroundings and for a brief instant there was calculation behind the baby blues. This had something to do with his gift he could just feel it. In order to comfort himself he summoned up his favorite pet, the rather large Timber wolf. "Well, Hunter, it seems we have just fallen through Alice's rabbit hole." The big canine growled in response as they waited to see what would happen next.

It had been a couple days since Dakota had gotten to the mansion. She had started meeting people and settling in. Sure she was still new, and yet she was settling just fine. The others around would get a little confused with her because one never knew what her emotions would do... And if they did the wrong thing... Bam! She was in another form. However, she was slowly learning how to control her powers, obviously it was very slow going. Now today she had been in an insanely good mood. And so she had shifted. Oddness indeed, but just as she had when she was angry, she changed into a Dingo. True enough that was her favorite form, the one she felt most comortable in. So it sort of made sense for her to be in that form. So Dakota was darting about the mansion, likely to the dismay of some, in her canine form. The Entrance hall was her latest place for her to dart about. So the one standing there would see a tan flash of fur as she darted through, only to halt and backtrack, following a scent. She wandered closer to him and the wolf before freezing where she was when she rose her head, coming nose to nose with a full grown wolf. She leapt back in surprise, eyeing him carefully, tilting her head a little bit. She then looked up to the person before her, and waved her tail a bit, tilting her head curiously. She didn't know this one... But she would close her eyes for a moment looking very odd. She lowered her tail and allowed her body to relax. Indeed it took a while, but finally a human began to appear from the dingo. Fur receeded, form slowly rose into a fully clothed red headed girl. She was currently wearing sunglasses, which very effectively hid her oddly colored eyes. "Hi there! I'm Dakota." She smiled warmly and watched him, gauging his reaction, but also keeping an eye on the wolf. (Okie if the wolf does anything to her or he does during this time, just post it and I'll react. )

The young man tensed when Hunter's hackles raised and he let out a low warning growl. It was meant to alert Chance to the fact there might be danger. Blue eyes scanned the room and then he saw the tan blur. "What the..." He felt the wolf tense and used his control over the animal to calm him down some. Chance wanted him on alert not in attack mode, just in case it was a friendly or something. One brow went up when he saw the wild dog and again the words left his lips. "What the hell?"
Quickly he dismissed Hunter because right now he wouldn't be able to fully control the beast. He was too confused at what was going on right now. How did a wild dog, no correction, dingo get into a posh school like this? When the beast started to change, Chance took several steps back and fell into a chair. He sat there stunned when a young girl formed from the dingo. "Holy shit...." The words came out in a whisper. Sure he knew he was different but he never imagined that there were people that different. Then it all clicked as to why his Nans sent him here.
The young man finally pulled himself together and stood up. No need to freak out maybe this would be a good place for him after all. Once more in control of his own emotions he looked down at the tiny girl. One corner of his mouth lifted in a cocky little boy grin. "Hello there, Cutie. I'm Chance. Now tell me something, if you would. Where exactly am I?"

The dingo froze when she heard the growl, cocking her head to the side as she surveyed the wolf. She would heed the growl, knowing very well what it meant. The wolf was cautious of her and watching her for any sign of hostility. She had no clue of who this was, but the wolf was certainly bigger than she. She would lower her head and tail to show she was no threat to this creature or his two-leg. What the heck... She was now thinking like the blasted animal. She needed to stop that... Well she couldn't help but give a wide doggy grin as her joyful mood had not diminished. Goodness she was amused...
She was thankful and amazed when she could muster enough control to shift back into her normal form, even if it did take several minutes of him sitting there staring at a slowly calming down wild dog in the middle of the entry way... Well finally she managed it, allowing herself to slowly shift back into the pretty little girl she truly was. She winced inwardly as she briefly wondered if he had noticed in her dingo form how her eyes were two very differnet colors. One an astonishing blue, the other a clear green... Indeed she found this abnormality atrocious... She despised it, considering it made her even more different from everyone else... Luckily she had fashioned her human form to wear sunglasses. She giggled a little at his reaction, though rose a brow when the wolf suddenly dissapeared. She wondered briefly where it went, but didn't question it. She grinned a little shaking her head a little. "You really should watch your language..." She laughed a little to show she was half joking. It really didn't bug her.
She watched his reactions to her after he had gotten past the shock. She would stand her ground as he stood, though he likely towered over her like so many others. Indeed, even for her age, she was a tiny girl. But goodness her personality made up for that. She soon heard his words and her eyes narrowed dangerously, though he wouldn't be able to see that. "You know... I gave you my name." She hissed slightly, growling some. Goodness where did this sudden change come from? All of a sudden she seemed infuriated at him calling her cutie? "The name is Dakota. Not Cutie." Any other girl would be flattered beyond belief... And normally Dakota probably would be too...
Suddenly she gasped, her eyes flying wide, which again he couldn't see. But her mouth opened a little in an inaudible gasp. "I am so sorry... I ah..." And she seemed to hop right into a very appologetic, sad state, and then automatically into the hyper bouncy type he had met her in... "You're at Massachusetts Academy!" She grinned broadly. Holy cow there was something wrong with this girl... But perhaps she would mellow out when you got to know her... Maybe... "Nice to meet you Chance! Welcome!" She giggled and grinned a bit, seeming to forget all about that brief flare of anger.

Chance was beginning to wonder if the girl wasn't slightly off her rocker. One minute she's a wild dog, then she's a girl, then she's giggling, and then she's mad at him. When she started in on him about calling her Cutie, he backed up a few steps. He was aware of the chair behind him this time and stopped just short of bumping it. "Whoa, hold on there.... Dakota. Didn't mean any insult by calling you cutie." Sweet baby Jesus what was with the girl.
Blue eyes widened as she once more shifted in her personality and his head began to shake. What was up with that girl? Her emotions were all over the place. Puberty. OK, now he knew he was at the Massachusetts Academy, but he was starting to wonder Academy of what? "Are you alrigh? Am I going to have to find an adult or something?" Then he had a wild thought, what if this was a nut house? He tried to think of everything he'd done in the last few months to warrant being committed. No, no he couldn't really think of anything. "So... what kind of academy is this?" He was starting to have a sneaking suspicion but he had to hear the word. The word that Nans had only used once in his lifetime. Mutant.

Dakota was fighting hard to keep control of herself. She would draw a couple deep breaths, shaking a little as she felt herselt start to get emotional. This wasn't good. It never was. But wow what an impression to make on the new guy. At this point she was a bright pink in color. She watched him back up that few steps and glanced down again uncertainly. Goodness... At least the girl didn't burst out into tears just now. She kept decent control on that. She glanced up in surprise when he reacted to her words. She shook her head a bit, sending that fiery red hair flying a little. "Oh no no... I know, I'm sorry..." She bit her lip a little, uncertain on what else to say about that. Really she wished she could simply shift at will into a mouse and run away she was so embarrased... But she didn't.
She glanced up from under those long lashes at him, hoping this won't set an incredibly negative tone between them. Of course it would at least for a time, and that bugged her. She always found she was pushing people away more often than not. She soon heard his question on if she was alright, and she managed a small smile, nodding shakily. "Oh yes, I'm sorry... I-I just find it hard sometimes to... Reign in my emotions. Please forgive me." She said softly as she managed to keep herself calm for the time being.
She tilted her head a little as she heard his last question and grinned a little bit, once again her emotions lifted. What was with this girl... Well he had already seen her shifted, so that wouldn't likely surprise him if she suddenly shifted to a random form... But for now she was keeping a check on it. "It's a mutant academy!" She nodded as she exclaimed this. It seemed she was quite excited about this fact. Her eyes danced a little bit and she nodded a little. "I guess you're new here too huh?" She grinned a bit more. "I just got here a couple days ago."

Chance moved closer to her and gave her a bit of a hug. He wrapped one arm around her shoulder and smiled down at her. "No need to get upset, these things happen." What the hell? She freaked him out and he's comforting her. How screwed up is that? What had his Nans gotten him into? "Don't worry about it, a hormonal teenage girl shifting into animals? It's got to be hard on the emotions." He had no idea what he was saying but he sure sounded like he did.
Mutant. Yup that was the word he was afraid of. Not that he had anything against them, matter of fact, he didn't like how people treated them. Deep down he knew he was one he was just hoping he wasn't. He liked his life and this was going to complicate things for him. "Yeah, first day here. Just got in actually right before you showed up."

Dakota tensed up a little when Chance moved closer, but she didn't feel he was going to hurt her, so she forced herself to relax a bit. She gave a light smile up at him as he wrapped one arm around her in a comforting manner. She nodded a little as she heard his words. Well she was glad he felt that way... Back home she would be in some trouble for losing her control like that. Not a big deal, but people still didn't like it. This also confused her... He was comforting her now after she had snapped at him. Sure that probably didn't scare him any coming from this little girl, but still... She felt bad about it. But she smiled slightly at his words, even giving a light laugh. "Yea... I guess you're right... It doesn't help that I was always very emotional to start with... Goodness I was hoping it wouldn't get worse... But it did. Why couldn't my powers stop with talking to the animals?" She sighed and shrugged it off, wondering briefly if she was confusing the poor boy. "Oh sorry about that... Yea. My power started out simple, I could talk to animals and call them with my mind. Then one day... Just a couple days ago actually, I got really mad at some people and changed my form into a dingo!" She grinned, excitement snapping behind her eyes. Obviously she was excited about this idea. Sure she was afraid of losing control, but turning into animals was beginning to grow on her.
She tilted her head a little as she saw unease in his eyes when she mentioned the nature of the school he was now at. She was quite confused. Becoming a mutant didn't really complicate things for her a whole lot... Sure she missed her family greatly, but she didn't have any real friend ties back home. So she really didn't mind being removed from there. And here everyone seemed really nice. "Well let me be the first to welcome you! The first thing we need to do is get you in to see Ms. Frost. Well or do it sometime. I think she might be busy... But yea! Don't worry, I'm sure you'll love it here." She grinned brightly and nodded some to him.

Chance ran his hand down the back of her hair in a soothing manner. "Don't worry about it. You're a teenager it's bound to happen. Just getting out of the tweener stage is highly dangerous to your emotions. Trust me, been there done that, still there. Actually according to my Nans and mother, since I'm male I'll never get out of it." The last was said with a lopsided grin in hopes that his joke would calm her down. "I first summoned Hunter when I was a kid. I had seen Timber wolves at the zoo and wanted one really really bad, and there he was." He shrugged and thought it was odd talking about it, when Nans never let him mention it. Hell his parents didn't even know.
Maybe being a mutant isn't so bad. He had a blast with the animals he summoned, conjured, whatever one wanted to call it. "Well I got this packet here and a room key. Help me find my way around and we'll see what we happens?" He really didn't trust the girl but it couldn't hurt to make nice with her, right?

She remained absolutely still as she felt his hand running gently down her long, soft red hair. Goodness she half felt like giving off a soft murr and maybe kicking her leg just a little bit. Indeed it felt good and definately did it's job in calming her down. It was slow, but she was slowly managing to win over her emotions. She gazed up at him, absolutely drinking in every word he spoke. They made sense to her... Certainly she never really understood her high state of emotions... But they had always been rather high, even for the teenage girl she was. But they were not uncontrollable... Soon enough she heard his next words and a bright grin spread across her face as well as she nodded a little bit. "Well I'm not a boy, so I suppose I have hope then..." She laughed a little in a light easy manner, nodding some.
She grinned brightly as she heard him speak of his power and how he started it. "Oh wow, that is amazing... I... I used to live in Australia and my parents enjoyed being outdoors... I had an odd... Connection with animals. Heck I approached a pack of dingos once in an outing with my parents, and well... I'm still standing here." She grinnd and nodded some. "Ever since then the Dingo was my favorite animal of all time. Later I found I could call animals around me to me when I got upset or sad... Or even when I was really happy... Recently... I got really angry with someone and wished I could get away, the next thing I knew I had four paws and was moving down the street in the form of a Dingo..."
She laughed a bit and nodded, able to accept that now. "I guess we all have our oddnesses here..." She nodded and grinned broadly. "This seems like such a nice place for people... Well people like us..." Joy lit up her features as she nodded still. "I never knew there were so many others like us... I mean I knew my aunt was but never heard of anyone else being like this."
Dakota heard his next words and nodded a little bit in response. "Sure thing! I don't know my way around real well yet, but I know where the rooms are at least, and most of the major parts of this place as well. And anything else, perhaps we could explore together." She nodded brightly, seeming quite happy about that idea. Now Dakota didn't often trust others very easily either, but in this place she was much happier now that she didn't have to hide her abilities. It was strange to her, but it seemed she was going through quite the change from the frightened child she had been. "As you know, this is the Entrance hall..." She grinned a bit as she did a rather bad impression of a tour guide, laughing a bit as she did. Goodness her sad emotions were calmed, but the girl had best better be careful she didn't burst into another form out of joy!

A grin caught his lips as she started to calm down. Really he wasn't sure he could deal with an overly emotional girl at the moment. He was still trying to adjust to this whole thing. "No you don't, but just remember I helped you out then, when you go full woman..... You might take it easy on me?" One blue eye winked down at her to let her know he was just teasing. Definitely needed to get this girl to relax a bit and maybe breathe.
Chance nodded as he listened to her story. "Mine's not as cool as that, but it works for me. I wouldn't give up Hunter for anything." He really did love the Timberwolf and he was the one thing that Chance (outside of family) could truly count on. No one would ever be able to convince him that Hunter wasn't real even though truthfully that point could be argued both ways.
The grin never altered as the girl started to, well, babble. He'd quit listening by now but at least he was retaining the information. It's the same things he did during a teachers lecture. He'd look as if he were paying attention, actually absorb what they had to say, but truthfully his mind had already left the building. Chance picked up his bag when they were ready to begin the tour. "Well then we can think of this as an adventure. Lead on, my fair tour Guide." He winked down at her and grinned. His face went mock serious when she mentioned this was the entrance hall. "Yes, yes... Very fine indeed. The woodwork is fantastic." Again he gave her a grin and wink.

She grinned a little bit right back to him, though it was shaky. She really didn't want to burst suddenly into dingo form on him. She did enjoy talking with him. And in wolf form that was slightly difficult. Well she giggled a little at his words and nodded some, before grinning more and nodding as she looked somewhat thoughtful. "Hmm... I'll try. But you know, when it comes to that time, my wrath is visited on the good and bad alike..." She giggled a little and nodded some. Indeed she was just talking about her emotional lashing out, but she winced a little as she thought about that. Her emotional lashing carried more weight at this point... Turning into an elephant and stomping people just wouldn't do... Not usually...
She nodded a bit as she heard his next words and grinned a little bit. "So you... Summon animals then? How does it work? You just think of an animal and it appears?" She tilted her head a little as she started asking questions curiously of his powers. She hadn't touched Hunter or anything so she couldn't tell if he had been simply an illusion or if he were real. Their powers were quite similar, both dealing with animals, half of hers dealing with calling them to her by way of talking to them, his by summoning whatever he pleased...
She did indeed have a tendancy to babble... Especially when she was excited or passionate about something. Being a mutant was something she was passionate about at this point. She did fear it, but only three days later she embraced it... She was eager to learn to control it and be able to use it for good. Indeed she had heard of the war starting and brewing with the mutants, and she was eager to fight for the people who were now her own.
Dakota grinned widely, already starting to like this guy a lot... He had potential to be a buddy, though for now she still held some slight reservations toward him, and yet her powers were defiantely something she could trust him with, she figured. She grinned a little right back up to him as he spoke of the adventure they would be taking. She nodded eagerly and would head off happily before glancing back at any stuff he had with him before holding out her hand to offer to carry something for him. "Well... I guess since you already have a room key we could go to the rooms and you could put your stuff away first." She grinned a bit and nodded some. "Might be better than walking around with it all..." She giggled a bit.

Chance smirked and shook his head. "I'll stock up on plenty of Godiva in the hopes of appeasing the goddess of emotional wreckage." He winked down at her and was glad that she was calming down some. He was also glad she didn't bite him for invading her personal space and touching her. Even if there was nothing sexual about it. He wondered if it calmed her a bit more than normal because of the whole animal thing. Meh, he mentally shrugged it off and looked down at the poor kid.
His smile actually turned genuine when she asked about his summoning. "Well first they have to have truly existed. There has to be proof that the animal was real. So no dragons, as much as that pains me. Then I'd have to have seen them in real life, or at least their remains. I can summon them after that. To control them I have to study them so that I know what they truly can and can't do. No sence in making a cat walking two legs. I have to concentrate very hard as well, especially the bigger or more intelligent the animal. They are very real." He summons Hunter again. He's the easiest one since he's dealt with him from the beginning. "See Hunter here? I've summoned him since he was a cub. He's one of my best friends. Go ahead, he won't hurt you." Chance waited to see if she would really pet Hunter.
The young man just shook his head as he held his bags. "I got them, Cu... Dakota. But yeah, let me get these things put down and then we can go on our adventure. But please show me to my room." He smiled down at her ready to get his stuff put up and explore his new home.

Dakota was very much under controla t this point. She smiled a bit and then bursted out in giggles at his Godiva comment. "Oh goodness they make the best chocolate. You'd surely appease the goddess!" She grinned widely and nodded. Goodness great... Now she was craving chocolate... Indeed, she didn't mind the physical contact. She didn't feel anything unnerving or uncomfortable about it, and so it was fine by her. She smiled warmly up to him as she would return the embrace he gave her, keeping the physical closeness as long as he wished to. And it was possible that the ease in which she was calmed by touch had something to do with turning into an animal and such, but Dakota had always been easy to console... Sort of... Then again only by certain people... It was rare that one was able to calm her so quickly and easily... But Chance seemed to have the ability.
She fixed her gaze upon him unwaveringly. She listened intently to his every word, very much interested in hearing how other people's powers worked. She grinned a bit and nodded some as she listened to his words. Goodness that sounded like fun! She giggled a little, and nodded as she thought about how nice it would be to summon a dragon. "That is so cool Chance!" She nodded a bit and grinned. "That's like mine. I have to have seen the animal for real before I can change into it." She nodded a bit and grinned as he summoned the wolf. Well Dakota wouldn't even hessitate. She'd walk right up to the wolf. Slowly and carefully, but not fearfully. She reached her hand out palm up for the wolf to sniff. Once it did, she would stroke it's head gently. "He's really beautiful... I wonder... You say the animals you summon are real... I've never seen a wolf for myself before... I've been to the zoo only once and the wolves were sick... But... If he's real..."
She grinned a bit and thought for a moment before closing her eyes. She finally would shift, grinning widely to herself, and soon enough, standing before Hunter and Chance was an exact replica of Hunter, with the exception that she had one blue eye and one green one. Indeed she couldn't seem to change that... She grinned widely as she returned to her normal form, giggling a little bit. "Oh wow! That is so cool!" She grinned a bit, and then thought for a moment. "Oh I wonder... With how my power works I turn into the actual animal myself... So maybe... Have you ever seen a Dingo before?" And with that she would start to shift into her dingo form once more, wondering if, after seeing her like this, he could summon a dingo.
After her little experiment was done with she would shift back into human form and grin widely to him. Goodness it seemed the two found quite an interesting thing... They might have to swap animals a bit later... She would nod a bit as he said he had his stuff. She had noticed that he said her name after stopping himself from saying Cutie... This made her smile a bit and she nodded a bit more. "Sure thing, follow me please." And with that she would head off toward the rooms, a bit of a bounce in her step. Yup. Dakota was in an amazing mood.

At least the little one seemed to be calming down some. That was a very good thing in Chance's book since he wasn't sure how well he would handle an emotional rollercoaster. She seemed to need or at least want the contact so he wasn't going to pull away. He'd let her decide when she'd had enough. He chuckled when he was told he appeased the goddess. "Well that is a good thing. Appeasing the goddess is definitely a must in my book." He winked down at her and tapped the tip of her nose with his the tip of his finger.
"He's very real. The only thing that can keep him from being killed is if I release my hold on him, so to speak. I don't understand how it works, all I know is that he's my friend and I've known him for years. I never really questioned it." He shrugged a bit and watched as Hunter nuzzled the girl. He really was a sweet old canine unless you got him riled. He watched as she changed into a wolf and grinned. Well at least he's helping someone else, right? Should make, Nans proud.
Chance chuckled and shook his head. "Doesn't work quite that way, Cutie uh.. Dakota. I'd need to study them. As much as you look and move like one, you still have your human mind, so I wouldn't really be studying a dingo, I'd be stdying you." He was flattered that she'd try to help him though. He chuckled at how hyper she'd become and followed her.
