Chance looked around and realized he was the only one that had his hand up. When the teacher called on him he cleared his throat. "ESD stands for electrostatic discharge. What that strap does is grounds the person and protects them from the discharge. Sometimes it's called a ground bracelet." That was pretty much what he knew in a nutshell and waited to be told he was wrong. His gaze flicked at Maya and then he went back to taking his notes. His pen ready to add anything else that Mr. Morgana might offer up by way of information.

Dingo did, indeed, look quite clueless as she heard the question from the teacher. She had no clue what it was or what it did, and yet she saw Chance's hand go up. Oh good... At least one of them knew what it was. She smiled as she turned her gaze upon Chance. She would focus all her attention upon him and smile warmly, managing to keep herself under control.
Goodness the boy nearby was like her rock... Her anchor. He kept her grounded, simply by being near. Strange much? Well yes she is... But at the same time, it made sense... Sort of. But the girl had trusted and accepted him quite quickly and had no clue how he truly felt toward her. True enough they had just hardly met, and yet on her end a bond had been formed almost imediately between them... And was only strengthened every time he helped her.
She listened intently to the answer Chance gave and grinned a little bit, tilting her head a little bit. "Oh so you don't get shocked by your computer?" Yup... She was speaking out of turn and without raising her hand. She winced and bit her lip ducking her head as she realized this. "Sorry..." She looked over to Mr. Morgana and fell silent, uncertainty obvious in her eyes.

Maya was truly happy she'd taken this course. She didn't know any of the answers, but she would learn quickly. It would only be a matter of time before she was a computer whiz! Or at least someone who knew more than how to type on the key board. Maya would have been embarrassed by her lack of knowledge, but she knew that everyone had to start some where.
When Chance answered the question, Maya made sure to look out of the corner of her eyes, just to be able to understand what his answer was.
"Excuse me." she asked quietly while raising her hand. "So what do laptops have to prevent electrostaic discharge?''

He smiles softly and nods though most of Chance's answer, and chuckled a bit at Echo. "Okay Chance first of all almost perfect. ESD straps are not to protect you from a charge from the computer. It's there to protect the computer from you. The body has electrical charges, one being static. A lot of the parts within a computer are very sensitive to any charge what so ever, to the point that Static discharge in a computer could fry out a portion of the board. Now for Ms Lopez, you never ever open up a case for a laptop unless you are told to. Most of them come with a warranty that means you have to get permission to get inside of it without voiding the warranty. Laptops are a whole different lecture that will take me month's to prove what good they are and an hour to prove the junk they are."
He looked over the group and showed them how to put on the ESD straps. "Okay now please pick up your screwdrivers, and at the back of the case of the computer there are four screws located at the corners of the case......................." the lecture went on from there teaching them how to install a hard-drive and when he was surprised by how fast they picked up he went ahead and started teaching them how to do a proper computer build. Explaining about things like resistors, tracks and sectors on a hard drive, and the basics of optical drives. Looking up at the clock he smiled softly at the class.
"Great job today everyone, feel free and stop by for any questions, your homework is simple, I want a step by step instruction written for a Grandmother on how to put a computer together. It will be due by next class. Have a great day."
