Sunshine shuffled out of her room and down into the dining room. She was in dire need of coffee having been up most of the night working on a project. A large yawn escaped and she scratched her belly. At least she was dressed, well she was sure she was dressed but she couldn't be sure she matched or not. Sunshine was still in her pajama bottoms with a button up blouse and cowboy boots. Of course she wasn't awake yet so she didn't realized how mismatched she truly was right now. Another yawn escaped as she pushed her way into the dining room barely registering that no one else was there yet. What time was it? The head full of messy curls turned and looked at the clock. "Six AM!!" The same head dropped and she whimpered making her way to the coffee and trying to decide if it was worth it to be up this early.

Scott entered the dining room whistling a chipper tune, he'd just finished his our long work out thanks to his self imposed 22:30 bed time. He Took a swig from his bottle of water and raised an eyebrow as he spotted someone in the room. He'd not met her before, so she must've been a new student, it wasn't often that someone was as early as he was. Wearing his grey sweat pants and a hoody in the same colour with a little red X on the left side of his chest he could've looked better...but oh well, his clothes were in a better state then hers. Clearing his throat he said "Hello...didn't expect anyone else to be up"

Not having had her coffee yet Sunshine jumped a good foot at the stranger's voice. Alright well not really a stranger per say but they'd never met. Ran with different crowds so to speak. Well actually she spent most of her time cooped up in one room or another every now and then making it outside. A quick and friendly smile touched her lips though as she poured some coffee. "Actually I wasn't either. Coffee?" After that first sip she looked down at her clothes and cringed. "I swear I have much better fashion sense than this but I didn't get much sleep. Oh yeah, I'm Penny some people call me Sunshine." Again the smile was there with just a tinge of embarrassment over her outfit.

Cyclops smiled and entered the room fully, he knew he recognised her from somewhere...oh yes! she was one of the New Mutants, one of the ones he hadn't had the oppitunity to train yet. Well this would be nice. Get to know some of his team mates a little more, learn their strengths and weaknesses...then it occured to him. Was he the only person in the school that could turn normal conversation in to assessing their combat abilities?
When she offered coffee he pondered...should he introduce coffe in to his system? probably not, he'd have a glass of water or juice later. "No thanks Penny, I'm Scott Summers by the way...Cyclops, your one of the New Mutants right? I'm your co-squad leaders." he finished with a smile.

Alright he wasn't a coffee drinker, she could live with that. The girl's smile widened (if that were possible) when he smiled back at her. "Hello Scott or do you prefer Cyclops? Yes I'm one of the newbies." The smile turned to a grin when she used the word 'newbie' it always made her giggle and she wasn't sure why. "One of the co-squad leaders? Gotcha. I warn you now I'm not much of a fighter, per say, but I'm a scrapper and will have your back to the utmost of my ability." That was followed by a nod to let him know she was serious. "I can wield a wooden spoon, mop or broom as well as any grandmother shooing out a bunch of rapscallions." Did anyone even use the word rapscallion? Where had she heard it? Alright now she was babbling a little bit but it wasn't really her fault since she still hadn't had her coffee yet.

Just then a happy singing was heard as Kitty made her way into the dining room. Indeed she was up early today... Much earlier than normal, and yet it didn't seem to stop her from being her happy, chipper self. She grinned brightly as she phased right through one of the walls and into the dining room. Obviously using her power was something she very much enjoyed. And yet in her happy skipping, she wasn't paying much attention and she managed to run right into, and trip over one of the chairs that were sticking out a little bit. "Ack!"
She squeaked as she toppled over it, wincing as it clattered to the ground. Well she was dressed in a simple pair of shorts and a blue tank top, obviously her pajamas. She blushed a bit, before jumping back up and righting the chair. Goodness... Could she go no where without making an entrance? "Sorry about that guys..." She murmured, blushing a bit more, wondering if she had interrupted.

Cyclops nodded he answered her first question with "I don't really mind either way...I tend to go by Cyclops during training and in the field but some people still call me it outside." Sunshine then went on to say that she wasn't much of a fighter "Oh no one expects you to be a super commando...in fact very few of our team mates have actual combat expirience, it's all about seeing what you can do and finding a use for it." he chuckled a little ather joke, glad that she had a sense of humour about herself, so many people didn't. His responce was "Well I'm sure I can load a Rapscallion program in to the danger room for you to practic- and with that Kitty Pryde entered the room and tripped over a chair. He turned to her as she was picking herself up and said "No worries Kitty, I'm not sure if you've met...but this is Penny, Penny this is Kitty Pryde, one of your fellow New Mutants."

Well Penny was in the firm belief that who you are in your professional life shouldn't completely dominate your private life. "I will call you Scott then." Again she nodded the smile still on her face. By now many would have forced the smile to stay but not Penny, it was as still warm and genuine as when she first showed it to him. One eyebrow went up when he said it was all about seeing what she could do. "Well not much of what I can do will really help the team too much. Not unless you guys are hungry or need new uniforms. But I'm willing to do my best and to learn everything I can so I guess that counts for something."
Her look turned contemplative as she seriously tried to figure out what her usefulness to the team would be. A grin touched her lips when he said he'd set up the program. Before he finished the sentence there was a loud noise and Penny jumped and squeaked. "Hi Kitty. Would you like some coffee?" She held out her hand for Kitty to shake.

Kitty was quite a brilliant shade of crimson as she set to righting the chair a bit slower than it would usually take. Yea... You'd think she'd be used to this. Kitty was a bit of a klutz... But this fact would likely surprise everyone if they didn't see it for themselves... For she also did dancing, and out there she was ever so graceful... She often wondered how she could be so graceful when dancing and so... Not graceful everywhere else... But soon she looked up and grinned sheepishly at Scott and shook her head some with a smile as she glanced to Penny.
"No I don't believe we have met yet..." She said lightly, still very bubbly and chipper as she moved over to Penny, reaching out to grasp her hand lightly to shake it. "It's a pleasure to meet you Penny." She dipped her head a little and smiled widely as she glanced between Penny to Scott and back to Penny to focus upon her eyes again. "Oh... I would adore some if you have some handy..."

Well the team mates were meeting at least that was good, meant that the team would be able to work a bit better together if they knew each other, that was easy with the X-men, they'd been at the school since it had begun and there was only a few of them. The New Mutants on the other hand were a large squad and that made them harder to organise and to gel as a team. He just had to do some more training sessions and work on tactics.
Scratching the back of his head he stood with the two, not quite sure what to talk about...perhaps it would be good to bring up the training session, so they knew about it and would be more likely to turn up. "Oh yeah...guys, I'm going to be doing a training session soon....with the whole Mr. Lesh...er Magneto thing going on, I'm going to be running a training program against him in case we have to go up against him, thought I'd give you a heads up."

A big grin stole over Penny's face as she went and got Kitty some coffee. Then she turned her attention to Scott as she sipped her own. "Oh, you mean I might learn how to fight?"[/color] That thought both excited her and worried her. She wasn't so sure she'd be any good at it, but she liked to dance so that might help some. "I'll do my best and I'll be there whenever you get it set up. Just don't get too frustrated with me, 'kay?" Penny had heard rumors that Scott was all about the X-Men, training, and doing this thing they do and she had always wondered about it. Now she was pretty much convinced since it was a godawful hour of the morning and he was talking about training sessions before they even had breakfast. Penny couldn't hold back the giggle.

Kitty couldn't help but grin. Indeed this young woman was likely one of the most friendly you could meet. As long as you weren't absolutely aweful to her, it was pretty certain she would work well with you. That often made her quite popular with the others. She was always very nice and friendly, not to mention always hyper and bubbly... Kitty looked up and considerably perked up (If that was possibly) when Penny came back with coffee. She grinned brightly and would accept the cup gently. "Thanks Penny!" She grinned as she sipped it, smiling contentedly.
She soon returned her attention to Scott and couldn't help but grin a bit. She had been around for a little bit and so far, what she knew of Scott, was that he was always one to get down to business. She grinned a bit at him and nodded some as she heard him talk about setting up a training session. Though as he spoke of Magneto, she dropped in hyper happiness just a bit, but nodded a bit. "Sounds like fun..." She nodded again, though her words were a bit more somber than they usually would be. Yet at the same time, determination shone in her eyes. They needed to take him down...

Hmm, it seemed that these two weren't exactly the most excited by combat, granted...he wasn't exactly thrilled by it. He just knew it was a necessary evil if they were to protect their species from attacks from the outside...or protect the humans from attacks from violent mutants. It was mostly about coheesion...or at least, that's what he thought would happen now that Mutants were out in the open.
He smiled at Penny, she was willing to learn fighting...even though it wasn't exactly her favourite necessity, he had a great amount of respect for her...because this generation of Mutants were likely to have it the worst. "Yeah...I'm just sorry you guys have to do it, but I suppose we're like pioneers for our race...and if we don't take down monsters like Erik Leshnerr...well then the world will paint us all with his colours"

He really was all about the training and the mission. That thought amazed Penny because she wondered if he ever just had fun. Maybe she needed to get him to loosen up a bit and he could be even more effective. The thought did have merit but she didn't think now was the time to mention it. Her thoughts strayed to the idea of learning how to fight. She looked over at Kitty. "You're welcome." Then once more her attention was focused on Scott.
Really she wasn't sure how much good she would be, but she would give one hundred and ten percent. Who knows maybe it will help her with losing some weight. That thought made her perk up. "Penny Lake at your service Mr. Summers, sir." She gave a salute and snapped to attention. Well the best she could with coffee in her hand and not knowing how to.

Kitty didn't really mind combat. Heck she often treated it like a dance with how she moved... A very deadly dance, but a dance nonetheless. She grinned a little as she looked from Penny, to her coffee, to Scott again. She nodded a bit as she heard Scott talk about combat and how they had to do it to keep evil mutants at bay. She nodded, understanding that... She didn't have to like it though. She hated hurting people, and yet there were those out there that really didn't mind it. This bugged her considerably, so she would always be there to help those who were fighting for good.
Kitty couldn't help but giggle as Penny gave the salute and spoke as such to Scott. She grinned widely and nodded eagerly. "And of course you can count on Kitty Pryde as well!" She grinned broadly and pulled a salute of her own. Goodness they were so silly...
