The blond was still shaken for her near miss in the danger room. It had been a day or so but she was still trying to get over it. She had dressed in black leggings, a big sky blue sweater and Ugg boots as she made her way outside. She needed the fresh air and a place to regroup. As Kelly made her way outside she looked up at the night sky, it was around ten or so but she couldn't sleep. Her mind kept replaying the last week or so and meshed it all together in a really freaky sci-fi horror flick way. Unfortunately, being a cute blond she was doomed to die. It's in all of the movies.
The young girl found this little alcove and parked herself there. Her earbuds were in and her head was moving to the music. Always, when she could get away with it, she would have the music on. It calmed her and helped her find her balance. Another thing it did was cause her to dance so that was what she was doing in that little alcove. Seriously, the girl needed to get out and have some fun before she exploded.

Pete slowly made his way back towards the mansion after having spent the better part of the afternoon in the Big Apple on ‘business’. He hated the city; it was nothing like his beloved London back home, despite the several similarities in places. No, the entire place had an off vibe that irked the former spy, and really said something about the place considering half of the places he’d passed through over the years. So he’d elected to come home once his business had been concluded, passing up any invitations for drinks or whatever to instead return to school. Again, that probably said something about his thoughts and feelings towards the city. Of course one of the few benefits of heading out to the City was that he was allowed to smoke to his heart’s content, a fact that admittedly negated some of its more off-putting qualities.
He was still smoking by the time he returned to the school, taking advantage of the long walk from the entrance to the main building to finish off a last quick cigarette. At ten at night he was pretty certain that there wouldn’t be any kids outside, especially with Xavier’s curfew times. It was then of course somewhat of a surprise to cross paths with one, partially hidden from sight unless you happened to be coming from a certain direction.
“Er, evening? Correct me if I’m wrong, which I’d be the first to admit has happened on one or two occasions, but isn’t it a little late to be out and about?”

The tiny blond was really getting into the song and never heard the teacher approach. When he spoke she squeaked and jumped a good foot before spinning around. Her hand flew to her heart and she stared at him with wide blue eyes. Quickly she turned off her iPod and pulled out her earbuds. She hadn't met this man yet, but she assumed he was a teacher. "Uh... Hi, yeah I guess it is. But I needed to get out of there, kind of had a mishap the other day and finally couldn't take it anymore. Am I in trouble?" She really didn't want to get into trouble her first week.
Oh wait, she may as well have, what with setting off the danger room. Just the thought of it made her shudder. "That was just horrible." The words were said softly and mainly to herself. Blue eyes looked back at the man. "Oh yeah, I'm Kelly. I'm new."

A slight smirk threatened to tug at Pete’s lips as the girl before him nearly jumped out of her skin. With so many telepaths around, he’d almost forgotten what it was like to surprise someone. He took a long draw on his cigarette, holding it between his index and thumb as he pulled it out to exhale. She was one of the new students that had arrived, and while he couldn’t put a name to the face he was pretty sure she was that power transfer girl. “Ordinarily you undoubtedly would be the proverbial deep end round about now, but considering I know firsthand the horrors of this loony bin of school I think I’ll cut you some slack.” That and he really wasn’t in the mood to fill in any of the paperwork that would go with disciplining a student.
He cocked his head and smirked as the girl had a veritable veitnam-esque flashback. Whatever that mishap was, it certainly would prove to be an interesting story. He nodded slightly at the mention of her name. That was it. Kelly Wilson. He vaguely recalled the memo that Xavier sent around with a brief rundown of the girl’s details. “Pete.” He said simply, locking his own brown orbs with the girls blue. “Pete Wisdom, I arguably teach history here. “

Kelly caught the smirk and knew she wasn't in trouble, at least not with this teacher. But she waited until she heard the words to actually relax a bit. "Well then thank you for not busting me. I'm smart enough not to care why so I'm not even going ask. But thank you." Now that she calmed down a little bit she really looked at the guy. Oh now he was a cute one, she had have to be careful around this one, she'll forget he's a teacher and start flirting. She always go in trouble, usually by the teacher, for flirting with the cute teachers. It's not like she meant anything by it.
Blue eyes locked on brown and she grinned. Oh he was going to be a dangerous one for her to be around. Not that she'd actually do anything with him, but she'd have the insane urge to tease and flirt. However, except for her own grin turned smirk, she was being a very good girl. "Do you prefer Pete or Mr. Wisdom? Well, I'm arguably a history student." She smirked again and winked when she said that. Her grades were good, history was the worst for her because she found it quite dull. At least her last history teacher reminded her of the one from Feris Bueller.

Pete shifted his weight from one foot to the other, a habit when he found something slightly awkward. And a girl’s flirtatious tone was definitely edging into that territory. She had to be, what, ten years his junior? Still, he’d been in more uncomfortable situations before. He took a long drag on his cigarette and regarded her for a brief second before shaking his head. “Pete, Wisdom, Mister Wisdom, it doesn’t really matter to me in all honesty.” He rolled the cigarette between his thumb and forefinger, again another one of his subtle habits. “I suppose this is where I come back with a line about having to arguably teach you, but if it’s all the same I’d rather not fall into predictability.”
Another long drag and another few moments spent regarding the girl before him. Something was bother her, that was plain to see even for a shoddy teacher like Pete. Kids generally didn’t decide to sit alone out in dark outside listening to music any more, least not in his experience. “While I’m not going to bust you, I would be interested in hearing why exactly you’re out here so late.” He gestured with his hand slightly, using the movement to flick away the ash that had collected on the end of his cigarette. “For curiosity sake you understand. That and I have a few minutes to kill and a cigarette to smoke.”

The girl was making him uncomfortable. She wasn't sure if she felt bad or found it a little amusing. Either way she wasn't going to point it out, which was a first for her and probably won't ever happen again. She liked the fact that he said she could call him Pete, so that's what she was going to call him. He'll probably regret it later. "OK, Pete. As I always say, spontaneity is key. Predictability is highly overrated." Her blond head nodded as she watced him.
It was Kelly's turn to shift a bit uncomfortably. "You want to know from the beginning or just recently?" She seriously doubted he really cared how she got to the school. Which was part of this whole little situation she supposed. The girl gave a bit of a tug on a lock of hair and sighed. "Big robot told me I was a mutant, cute Cajun tried to help, found out Big Robot wasn't wrong, friends and teachers fled, freaked out and passed out, woke up here. That's the first half. Other day went exploring, found big empty room, it came alive and tried to kill me." That about summed it up.

“Spontaneity is the key, eh? I’d certainly of hated to be your parents, luv.” Then again, he would have hated to be the parent of most of the kids he taught. He puffed slightly on his cigarette and allowed his brow to furrow slightly as the girl issued forth a sudden impromptu spiel. Robots, Cajuns, and attack of the mysterious room. If he didn’t happen to live the life he did, Pete would probably think the girl had something of a leaky brainpan or was waaay to into her sci-fi movies. Of course, sadly he did happen to live in a world were not only did that all make sense, it was practically an everyday occurrence the way things were going.
“Big Robots would be called Sentinels,” he paused and thought carefully about the next part of her story, “Cajun... Gambit?” It was a wild guess, but the Louisianian mutant was one of the few that Pete had met that could probably meet that description. “Killer room... Heh, you went and played in the danger room you mean.” The danger room was aptly named; the place was a veritable death trap if you weren’t careful. Hell, even if you were it could still send you on a one way ticket to the infirmary, if not worse. “Sounds like you’ve not exactly got much in the way of luck, kid.”

Kelly stuck her tongue out at him but grinned anyway. "You'd have loved me just as much as my parents did. Don't deny it." She couldn't help but tease him about it, and she probably should have been offended but she wasn't. The girl new she probably should have gone into a bit more detail, but if he was a teacher here then she knew she wouldn't have to. She still shuddered at the memory of it and it hadn't even been a full week.
"Sentinels, got it, and yeah I that was his name." At the mention of the danger room she shuddered again. "I so did not mean for that to happen. No one warned me about that room. I would have stayed out of it. Not like I'd be much use in there on my own." The blond tipped her head back to look up at him again. "Oh and we can't forget to mention that before the whole robot thing happened, I had just caught my boyfriend cheating on me. So, yeah, it hasn't been a good week or so. I usually have much better luck than this." She was curious about this teacher he didn't seem like the others. Definitely wasn't as stuffy as most.

He snorted softly and shook his head. “I wouldn’t be so sure on that, luv. If you were even half the hellraiser I was back in my youth, I probably would of put you up for adoption.” She certainly was bubbly despite her current situation, which in a way was a good thing he supposed, provided it wasn’t just a front. Still, to be able to smile in the face of an overwhelming shitstorm of bad luck had to say something for her character, regardless of if it was just an act or not. He just wished she wasn’t so... flirty... it was kind of awkward. Of course he was sort of the same with his teachers at her age, well the hot ones at least. He frowned slightly; he just hoped she wasn’t any more like him at that age.
He smirked slightly despite himself. Someone else’s misfortune always seemed to brighten up his day; he had too much appreciation of the concept of schadenfreude he supposed. “Maybe you should make it an issue of staying away from black cats, ladders, and mirrors for the next few days, eh? The way you’re going you’ll be lucky to survive another week.” He once again resumed playing with his cigarette, tilting his head slightly and allowing the smirk to blossom further on his face. “So other than attracting the mother of all bad luck and nearly getting yourself killed, how you finding the school?

Blue eyes rolled and she laughed. "I'm not that bad. At least I don't think I am. If I was I can promise you my parents would have told me." OK maybe she was starting to feel a little guilty for teasing him like that. With a sigh she ran a hand through her hair and looked up at him. "I don't mean anything by it. Just so you know, it's just kind of my nature. Cute guy, unrelated, flirt. It's one of those habits that's hard to break." She hoped that helped because she wasn't sure she could not be a little flirty. Totally went against her nature unless she didn't like the guy.
"Oh sure, find pleasure in my pain. I see how this is." Blue eyes were sparkling to prove she really wasn't offended. "Um, alright I guess. I mean I'm still adjusting and the classes are different from what I'm used to. More advanced and all. At least I'm finally in New York." Grins over at him when she mentioned the last bit. Every girl's dream, right? Either New York or Hollywood.

Pete cocked his head slightly, “Cute? I don’t know if I should be insulted or not.” He was slightly relieved it was just a quirk of her nature rather than anything more serious however, he wasn’t sure if he could face someone actually having a school girl crush on him. “It’s fine darling, slightly odd but fine none the less. We all have some vices and habits we’d like to kick, just be glad yours is harmless, eh?” He purposely avoided looking at his right hand, or rather the thin cancerous stick that it held, as he spoke.
“When you work at a school as eccentric as this one, you got to find your amusement where you can.” He allowed his smirk to broaden slightly. “Advanced?” Pete snorted, “You have been turning up to my classes, right? If they got any more basic I’d be using stick men and Spot the Dog terminology.” That was perhaps a slight exaggeration, his classes weren’t any more basic than some of the others they taught at the Institute, but considering the average IQ level of the student base, which was amazingly high all things considered, it was sometimes relatively hard to actually engage the kids in something worth their time. “Yeah, New York. Wonderful place.” He deadpanned softly with a roll of his eyes. Then again he supposed it would be different for people this side of the Atlantic, it was something of a dream to go to such a place.

Kelly giggled at his comment and looked up at him. "Well see, I'm trying to curb my first instinct which is to blurt out the first thing that came to mind. What was I was wanting to say was, that I can't seem to stop myself from when a totally hot and gorgeous, unrelated, man, is standing in front of me. But I thought you'd make more of that than what I meant." She winked at him. Couldn't help herself. "I really don't mean any harm in it. If something ever does come of it, and no I don't mean with you exactly, than that's just a perk." Her eyes didn't move toward the cigarette either but she grinned at him.
"When you work at any school you have to, especially in this day and age. I guess we do make good comedy, us teenagers, otherwise there wouldn't be so many movies about us." When he mentioned how he does his classes she grins. "Stick figures and Spot the Dog terms works for me. I will be once they get me my schedule and fully settled in. Things have been a little crazy." Her head tilted when he talked about New York like that and she just shrugged a bit. "I'm from Jersey." For her, that explained it all.

Pete snorted softly and shook his head at the girl’s comments. She definitely was going to be trouble, more so when she got older he suspected. “Curbing your first instinct, hmm? Probably a good idea around here.” He smirked and took a drag on his cigarette once more, “Luv, normally flattery will get you everywhere, but when you happen to be about a decade or more younger than me it kind of falls short.” She was certainly going to be a wild card that was for sure, and again he suspected it would probably only get worse with age. “You might want to be more careful with who you flirt, especially around here.” A mental image of people like Creed and a few other select individuals flickered through his mind’s eye as he spoke.
“If you start quoting American Pie or any other film like that, I may have to rethink my not punishing you.” He said in a serious tone, admittedly it was belied by a small smirk that graced his face. “I might go with the stick figures, especially considering my feeble grasp on anything remotely passing as an artistic skills, but Spot the Dog is a definite pass. ‘Run Napoleon Run’ isn’t the sort of thing one envisions saying while teaching a class.” New Jersey, he’d been there once. Actually on reasons not pertaining to his former career for once, but rather of a more personal matter. Still he could grab her point, parts of New Jersey made New York look like some futuristic Utopia. “I suppose there’s no real point telling you where I come from, eh? The accent does seem to tip my hand in that regard.”

Kelly sighed and shrugged. She was trying to learn to control herself, but she had some seriously poor impulse control where flirting was concerned. Oh she had no problems telling a guy no when he went further that what she was looking for. That's one of the reasons her flirting settled around words, smiles, and winks. Very rarely, unless she was actually interested in a guy, would she do the light touches. When he said her flattery fell short her head tilted to the side. "I think I need to explain this better. I'm not flirting or flattering to get better grades or even to get you into bed. I'm just teasing and having a bit of fun. I'm not a skank or a whore and I never, do the flirting where I'd touch a guys arm or things to that effect unless I'm really interested in him. No offense, you really are hot, but trying to get into your pants? No." It was sweet of him to be concerned about her safety, at least that is what she considered his warning about being careful with who she flirted with. But she was smart to know enough that when that vibe of meanness or slime came off a guy to back off.
"Oh then punish me." She nods her head. "I'll quote something and not even realize I've done it." Now she was actually quite serious when she told him that. Kelly couldn't stop the giggles at his 'run Napoleon run' for some reason it just really tickled her. "OK, the Napoleon crack was funny. Oh and when it comes to the stick figures you can just say you are teaching us North American cave man wall writings." In her mind history and anthropology went hand in hand so why not use anthropology as an excuse. Oh boy, she watches Bones wa-a-ay too much. "That's not true, Pete. Like New York, London has various types of accents. So, I wouldn't be able to pinpoint where. But I'd say London, somewhere in the richie section."
