"Over the top? Elitist? Ostentatious? I guess we could go on all day with words to describe this place." She gave him a smile of thanks as she took her seat and looked over the menu. "Only the best for Emma, her staff and students. No she doesn't charge, otherwise I'd be brown bagging it." It was actually kind of odd for her to have someone pull her seat out for her. Now of course she had gotten over her 'do I thank him, or do I slap him' phase years ago. "Thank you." really she couldn't really blame guys these days for not doing things like this anymore. It either gets them lectured or hit with a lot of women these days. Oh no, Amber was very much understanding there were differences between men and women. "If you like seafood the lobster is divine. Sometimes you can even get room service." She smiled but she wasn't joking.

Shaking his head he looks down the menu and finds what would be the cheapest item on the menu, oddly enough it seems to be a bowl of chowder. Nodding his head slowly he chuckles at the room service and then realizes..."wait you aren't joking are you?" Shaking his head again he sighed softly as he placed his order. He waved off her thanks as he smiled softly to her. "My Mama would skin me alive if I ever acted anything but a gentleman to a lady that was helping me get used to a new place." He looked around the room once more and smiled brightly across to his lunch companion. "So how long have you been here? Sorry, trying to make small talk was never one of my strong suits, unless you wanna hear me go on with the lectures I have already planned for my class."

Amber ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and looked over at him. "I wasn't joking. Comes in handy if you have to work late and missed dinner though." She made herself comfortable and grinned over at him. "My mama would kick my butt if she heard I got mad at a man for being a gentleman. We are not feminists, we are women. Is what she would say." Her grin turned a bit sad but she chuckled none the less. At his question she looked up at him. "Only a week or so. Not very long, but unless there is training I don't have an overabundance of work. So, I spent a majority of the time exploring." The girl shook her head and smirked. "No, that's fine. I'm in no way wanting to relive my high school education. What about you? What excited about being a teacher?"

He chuckled at the mention of her mother, but then had the good sense, not to stay on the topic of family very long. Listening to her question he gets a steeling himself expression on his face. "You mean dealing with all the brats that are far worse then I was at their age. No. I'm far from excited to be an educator, but it is steady work, and a roof over my head. So for right now it will work. I guess you could say right now I'm just checking out how the other half lives. I spent most of my life able to hide the fact that I was a mutant, and even laughed a bit while I sat in a group of humans screaming that all the mutants be rounded up and killed. I found it ironic that I was so close to them and they would never know." Shrugs a bit as he looked over at her and chuckles again at the memory. "Then again, it will be nice to helping new life grow instead of taking it away. Not that I didn't enjoy my time in the military. Just it gets to you after a time period."

Blue eyes went curious at his expression over her question. Then she just nodded understanding what he meant. "I know what you mean. The drama queens drive me insane, the boys... Oh man, someone really should teach them some game. It's funny though how cool and suave they think they are and I'm just sitting there trying not to laugh." She shook her head and chuckled a bit, glad that the whole family issue wasn't further discussed. "I was the reason we always had to move. I kept helping people then they'd turn on us. Finally, I left so my family could find some peace. You were in the military?"

He nodded though her explanation of the students and made a mental note to pass out certain pills to curb hormones. He even smiled sadly at the explanation of her childhood. He understood the fact that people would turn on the one that saved them, but as soon as she asked her last question he became very serious. "Yes, my dear I served my country and did my duty for a time. There will be days that I am sure I will regret ever leaving it, especially in the upcoming months, but unfortunately that is all I can say about my time in the military. For the next twenty years or so that is." He smiled brightly as he looked right at her and nodded his head towards the wait staff. "It seems are food is on it's way and I don't know about you, but I'm starving."

Amber just nodded and smiled softly. "I wouldn't want you to talk about them unless you needed to, so I wouldn't ask. Trust me, you may be trying to climb through a window with in a few days. My office has a nice little spot specifically for me to bang my head." Blue eyes glanced up when the food arrived and she looked over at him. "Starved beyond measure. So, what do you do in your off time?" She smiled up at the waiter and then sipped her drink when they walked off. No sense in not getting to know a colleague.

Taking his bowl and putting it down in front of himself he smiled as he thought about the question bringing the spoon up to his lips as he tasted the chowder. "Well, I spend time with my three bests friends in the known world. Yes, you can always count on them to help you forget your troubles of the day. I spend equal time with Morgan, Jack, and Jose. Great friends each of them." he smiles and then takes another spoon full of the chowder. "No, honestly I love to work on my computer, read an E-book or two, maybe play a little guitar, now I am far from a musician, but I am passable." he shrugs as he thinks about the rest of what h likes to do for fun. "And a few things that are better left unsaid with company so young." He grins and winks to let her know he was teasing as he took another sip from the chowder. "Dear lord, this is good. I have to admit this is the one thing I'm glad she didn't skimp on."

Amber chuckled and lifted her glass. "Well cheers to three very faithful friends. Just be careful they don't visit too often. Not sure how the Headmistress will feel about that. Maybe if you introduced her...." A small smirk touched her lips at that thought. Somehow though, she didn't think it was out of the realm of possibility. "Guitar is cool, you don't have to be a prodigy as long as you have fun doing it. For relaxation purposes or do you do it to annoy people?" She waggled her brows and ginned. She took a bite of her sandwich and nodded. After swallowing she grinned. "High priced taste, with diner portions. Gotta love it."

He laughed at the idea of introducing the headmistress to his friends. Then again that wouldn't be a bad idea with how the reputation for her has been so far. He might not had found a lot about the school she ran, actually he wasn't able to dig up anything on this school from any of his usual sources, but he had done a lot of research on the woman herself, and so far that was enough for him. He looked forward to meeting her personally just to get that first meeting out of the way and then he chuckled. "Never my dear only on days that end in 'y' and only in my room away from the students." He grinned a bit as he waggled his eyebrows.
Sipping from his bowl he looked up as he thought about that. "So true enjoyment is all that really matters, but then again if you are asking me if I am Sherlock Holmes with his violin. I believe I am a step above that, if you are asking me if I am Eric Clapton I'm a few hundred light years away from that as well. So somewhere nicely in between is where I stand. Never good enough to be on stage, but passable to the human ear at least I think so." He once again chuckled a bit as he took another spoon full. Surprised by the portions given at this place. This is truly a oddly designed place.
Thinking as he sat there using a roll provided with his soup. He was more than sure that besides for a few things he hadn't really asked her much about what she liked to do, or a few things about her past that had come up in the regular flow of conversation. "So my dear how about you? What is it that you do for fun during the day or night?"

"Of course in your room. Only so few times a week? Do they feel neglected?" She chuckled and took another bite of her sandwich. This was nice, just kicking back and relaxing over a damn good meal. "How do you like your chowder?" She'd had it before, like him she had gone for the least expensive thing on the menu. It was instinctual for her, the not spending much money. That's why she never turned down a free meal. She took a sip of her drink and looked over at him.
"Oh come on. Bet you are good enough to be on stage at some bar, or something like that. Maybe we can get some staff members together and have a night out away from the school. Go to an open mic night or something." That thought sounded fun to her but she wondered how much trouble would happen. Then hoped that they were well enough behaved not to cause too much trouble.
"I'm actually thinking of taking some sort of medical class. Just something basic to help me out here, not really going to become a doctor or a nurse. Maybe a medical assistant or something to the effect. Right now my fun centers around adjusting to my new surroundings. Eventually, I'll get back into dirt biking and what not." She loved doing stunt biking.

He looked at her askew for a minute, "A sport where you will break bones, in your wrists if not you fool neck? And you enjoy it?" He shook his head in disbelief. "I promise you I will never get on stage for any reason with my guitar in hand, trust me on that one. But going out with the staff sounds fun, if we could get them to let their collective hair down long enough to do so." He chuckled a bit at that thought. He thought about some of the other things he looked around once quickly as he finished off the chowder.
"The chowder was perfection in and of itself, so I really don't know what to think right now. I have never had something like this, barely a flaw in the meal what so ever. Great meal, great company, and..' sips from his glass 'great wine. I don't know if life can get any better than this right at the moment." He started to laugh a bit to himself as he shook his head and looked across from the table. It was a shame that she was so much younger than him, but then again he wasn't really here to make friends or connections really. He figured he might stick to his original plan and find people to mark to start borrowing money for his retirement fund if he didn't like his job as a teacher. The Cayman islands were beautiful this time of year.

A small grin touched her lips and she shrugged a bit. "I'm good at it. That and I'm not too bad at boxing either." She was more of a brawler but the ol' one-two has gotten her out of some tough situations. "Aw, why not? I'm sure you'd be great. But yeah, I know at least one who might be up for it. His name is Sam, and he's an instructor here as well. He teaches biology. He might be game, I'll have to see. Um, not sure who else, maybe Betsy would go, but I haven't really met her yet." She really didn't know the other staff members, and she seriously doubted Victor would go. Though that would be funny seeing him bust a move on the dance floor.
She grinned especially when he mentioned the wine. "Don't say that too loud, you know how guys can have egos. Wouldn't want your friends to think you were leaving them for a wine. Though they may think it a good joke, because nothing beats good friends on a bad day." She herself sipped her soda and finished off her food. "I'm so glad I can afford to eat here." She grinned and motioned for a refill.

"Yes, being able to afford this meal is a very pleasant thing. Sounds like you are fairly familiar with this Sam person. Well, interesting isn't it that. I haven't had the chance to meet anyone of course seeing as I arrived a bare hour ago, but then I hope to correct that situation as soon as I have a chance." He shrugged his shoulders a bit as he looked around and thought about it for a moment. Then again maybe it would be better for him not to make too many friends as it might cause him problems. Shaking his head he didn't want too many attachments cause it might cause him to have regrets from draining ....well maybe he would have to rethink his plans.
"Well, who knows my dear things might turn out for the better, and I might go with, but on stage I seriously doubt that." he nodded his head as he looked at the empty glass of wine and put it down and started to sip the water. "I doubt it cause they know I am a loyal friend and will never leave them for anything that goes well with tantrums. Yet, they do understand that I do prefer wine with my meals, just something to bring out the flavor and clear the tongue of lingering tastes. Yet, my friends know to relax after school or a long day's travels, ahhh...I will be visiting my friends later tonight, probably in a bath if I can get away with it."

Amber just shrugged a bit. "I met Sam, my first day here. That's why I know him." The staff seemed fairly elusive for the most part, but then after dealing with some of the students, she couldn't blame them. She herself would like to meet a few more members of the staff since she's only really met, well four, but heard about at least, two more.
"I'd get on stage and sing, just for the hell of it. Could be fun, who knows." She quirked a brow when he started talking about his friends. "You know, talking about boys in a bath together isn't so smart. Maybe take the wine first and then hang out with the boys later. Just be sure you don't sip and tell. It wouldn't be gentlemanly."
