Maya nodded. She didn't realize that their waiter would be taking his job so seriously. Chance must always leave a good tip to servers. The teen scanned the menu one last time. Just to make sure she didn't miss out on something that she would have liked even better than their salmon special. There was caviar on the menu, not one of the things Maya had ever had the urge to try, but it was considered a delicacy. Fish eggs were considered an accessory food.
"I think I'll get the samlon with this, she looked over the menu to make sure she got it right, "sweet apricot demi glaze." Maya didn't know what a demi glaze was, but it sounded sweet. "What do you usually get?" she asked while closing the decorative menu.

Chance knew that they took their jobs very seriously here and they always stayed on the tightest alert until the order was placed. After that they'd loosen up a bit. Although if your drink ran low they were always there to refill it. However, they were not as eager to jump after the order had been placed, allowing the patrons their privacy.
The young man smiled at her. "It's a good choice, I think you'll enjoy it." He looked back down at the menu and then back up at her and grinned again. "Steak and lobster. That's my usual. Oh, just make sure you save room for dessert, unless you don't like chocolate." One never knew, some girls didn't like it or were allergic to it.

Steak and lobster, that sounded like way too much food to her. However Maya was a dancer, she didn't starve herself like most of the women she used to dance with. She could always snack on something.
"You've tried it? Okay good. I wasn't sure if I would like it." she rambled. Maya was nervous for some reason. Was it because Chance, who was infact very good looking, payed attention to her? Or was it that she was just out of her element? Maya's eyes widened as she saw the word chocolate form on his lips.
"Ofcourse I love chocolate. What girl doesn't?" she stated with a wide smile. Chocolate was her kryptonite. Any guy could make her happy with some chocolate. It was the remedy to any of her emotional issues.

Chance looked over at her and smiled. "It's a little sweet and fruity for me, but seems to be something the ladies like. If you like sweet and fruity I think you will enjoy it." He wasn't to keen on Salmon since it tended to be a bit to strong for his liking, add in the sweetness and he couldn't really handle it. His mother ended up finishing that meal for him when he had tried it.
"I know a few girls who don't like it or are allergic to it. But they have this really rich and very delicious chocalte mousse cake. I thought perhaps you might enjoy it if you liked chocolate." Surprisingly, he actually enjoyed chocolate, but once again it was too much for him. He preferred their strawberry parfait cake.

"Well I'm glad I'm not one of those girls." she grinned while taking another sip out of her straw. The seltzer was bubbly, like soda, but without the weird after taste soda gave her. Maya ran her finger on the top of the glass, trying to get it to make a sound, like all crystal made. However she didn't know if it worked. She was like alittle kid in the car, wanting to touch every and any button she could get her hands on.
"So Chance, since this isn't a date, we can essentially talk about anything." she said with a playful grin. She hadn't been on that many dates, but the girl knew that there were certain taboo topics that were a no go on a date.

The young man winked at her and then motioned for the waiter. He placed their orders and then turned back at her. "Good thing you aren't, you'd be missing out." He gave her a small smile and sipped his soda. As the crystal made a sound he cocked his head to the side. "It worked." He wanted to let her know that she did in deed make the crystal sing.
Chance nodded. "Even if this was a date we could talk about anything. But the answer to your question is, that I summon animals." There was actually quite a process he had to go through but to sum it all up that was the best way to put it. He could summon animals out of nothing, true living breathing beasts, control them and then return them to nothing.

"Oh good " she said with cheery smile as she put her hand back in her lap. Maya always saw people doing that, but never had the chance to try it. Now that she had, she felt a slight pang of accomplishment.
"Thats true, but I would be more, if not extremely, nervous." she admitted wondering why she could talk to him so easily. Maya was usually stumped when it came to flirting with guys, let alone going out on a date with them. She was only confident when it came down to beating her enemies and such.
"Like conjure them from thin air?Thats awesome." she said with a muted enthusiasm. Now that was one she'd never heard of before. Unique wasn't the right word for his power, it was too common. It seemed like everyone was unique in the Academy.
"Suddenly my power seems like a parlor trick." she laughed.

Chance winked at her and would have glared anyone who had an issue with it into silence. Hell the chef, who happened to be the owner, probably would have kicked them out if he thought Chance became offended. The young man shrugged and winked again. "Contrary to popular belief I don't take every girl I come across back to my room or a hotel. I know how to just be a friend so there's no need to be nervous real date or not. No expectations, unlike some guys I know. Just because I spend money on you doesn't mean I think you owe me anything. I was raised better than that though many would argue the point." As long as he doesn't to build a friendship with them, he doesn't care what they think. But this girl seemed to be someone he might want to let in one day. Maybe.
The young man nodded. "A bit more complicated but that's the gist of it, yeah. What about you?" He sipped his drink and watched her. She was good looking he'd give her that, but he already had one girl chasing him so he was wary about putting too much interest in another. Though perhaps he'll actually make a real friend, save little Dakota, after all.

Maya watched as Chance moved his lips a little faster than before, but for some reason she was getting the message loud and clear. He wasn't like the other guys she grouped him in with, he didn't use his money and good looks to get as many women he liked. Maya liked the way he looked at her, it was something that made her feel normal.
"Well I'm glad to know that Chance." Maya said truthfully. She didn't know if she was being made fun of, as if taking the deaf girl to dinner was a lost bet or something. Now she was sure that that wasn't the case.
"I'm still impressed."she grinned, "I have a photographic reflexes. I can do anything that I'm shown perfectly. Its quite handy with fighting hand to hand. I'm quite good."
Basically I can do anything better than you can do." she giggled, "Save for mimicing your powers. Thats Calvin.

The young man took a deep breath and realized he had to slow down a bit. It was something he would work on so she didn't feel so lost in the conversation. Maybe he'd learn sign language. Now that gave him pause because he'd never thought of doing something for someone else. With the exception of his Nans and parents of course. He scratched the back of his head and decided to put that one away for later, maybe he was getting soft.
Chance nodded when she saids he was glad to know that. There was a lot more to him then people gave him credit for. Now of course he preferred it that way and this was only the second time he'd actually wanted someone to get to know him, and not the part that he played. His brow went up when he told her what her ability was. "Ever see someone do Muay Thai?" If not that would be something he could teach her.

Maya took her right arm and used it as a prop to hold her chin up. She was curious to find out out what Muay Thai was. She knew it was some sort of martial arts, Maya knew most of the traditional ones. But she never had the time to practiced every fighting skill she'd seen. If she wanted to make something her own, she hade to work at it.
"Nope, I've never heard of it." she said, "Is it more defensive? she asked.

Chance shook his head at her question. "Actually, quite aggressive. A lot of knees and elbows. In Thailand they actually kick trees with their shins in order to strengthen them." He was proficient in Muay Thai. He never went to that extreme but he could hold his own in a fight. However, he had strengthened up his forearms and his shin though. Mainly a baseball bat. "If you ever want to see, I can either show you or take you to a match."

Maya watched his lips slow up a bit- she smiled- and watched what he described it as. Voluntary abuse to her legs sounded gruesome. The girl wrinkled her nose while she thought about it. Strengthening those sweet spots would be beneficial.
"That would be wonderful." she smiled,"I can always use more tricks in my bag."
The girl took another sip from her drink and looked around. She was self concious of anyone over hearing what she said. Being a mutant, Maya learned how to cover up what she was in public. Some how she did do that too effectively.

Chance looked up as the food arrived and smiled over at Maya. He hoped she'd actually enjoy the salmon, he thought she would. When she seemed to like the idea of him showing her he nodded. "I'll be more than happy to, so don't worry." He winked at her and then started in on his steak and lobster. He wiped his mouth after swallowing a bite and looked over at her. "What kind of other things do you like to do?"

Maya smiled gently at Chance as he agreed again to help her out. When the food came, she silently thanked the waiter for the plate as she looked at it with curiosity. As the waiter poured more water into her crystal, Maya looked at the colorful arrangment of the pink salmon with the orange like glaze, the green and red splash from the vegetables and the creamy white from the rice. It looked just good enough to eat. Maya took her fork and took a small flake of the fish into her mouth.
"This is really good." she said while eagerly taking another forkful of food. Maya looked up when she saw that Chance was about to say something.
"What do I do for fun? Well shop, when I have the money. I like to explore a lot. Like a day in the city, Boston or New York, and then I liked to dance. Being outside is probably the best thing though." she said. "What about you?"
