Maya had her nose in her thick Complete works of Shakespeare. Why couldn't she learn a few things from American writers, not dead english writers whose highest form of humor was a pun? This was extremely difficult subject for her because the iambic pentameter which the play was written in was difficult for her to understand because she was deaf. These things were meant to be seen and heard on a stage, not read from a manuscript.
The only thing about reading Hamlet in her room was that she didn't have worry about anyone trying to talk to her. It was nice not being startled by someone waving right in her face or jumping when they touched her. It was a feeling Maya liked to avoid. However, the girl did need help with her assignment. She was supposed to learn a few lines from a passage and needed someone to read with her. At first she asked if Jubilee could help her, but she was busy with her own work load. So Maya texted Chance. They had gotten along at dinner a week ago so she thought he would be the perfect Hamlet to her Ophelia scene.
*Hey can you help me with some line?* she sent the text, hoping he was in his room or around the school.

Chance had been lying on his bed tossing a tennis ball up in the air and catching it. There were a lot of things on his mind lately. The main thing he was thinking about was Maya and that not date date that they had. He actually had found himself almost wishing it had been a date. Then there was Carol, he was not sure what to make of that woman. How the hell had she found him in New York. He figured that maybe she’d told her friends about him and one of them saw him. If had any idea what had really happened he would have gone ballistic on her.
Blue eyes turned when his phone went off. He looked at the text message and grinned. The girl who had truly been dominating his thoughts, what a coincidence. He quickly texted her back. *Be right there, Sweets*. That being sent he jumped off his bed and pulled a t-shirt over on and tucked it into his jeans. Then he slipped on his sneakers and headed over to the girl’s dorms. He leaned against the wall, near the door and texted her. *Knock, knock*. Then he waited.

Maya waited, nervously for his text back. What if he thought she was odd for asking him to help her? What if he was on a date with some other girl? Maya nearly jumped out of her skin as she felt the vibrations from her phone. With the speed of any 21st century girl, she flipped her phone open and saw that he would come- signing it off with sweet. The girl scrolled down, just to see if there was anything she missed, but she didn't misread anything. Had he just called her sweet? or was just just saying oh okay sweet?.
Without thinking about it, Maya got up from her desk and walked over to her full length mirror. She tugged on her blue tee shirt and smoothed her wrinkle-less jeans. When her phone vibrated again, Maya looked down and giggled. She bounded over to her door and opened it to reveal Chance casually leaning against the door.
"Hey! Thanks for helping me out." she beamed at him while moving out of the way for him to come in, "Hope you weren't doing anything important?"

Chance straightened up when the door opened and he grinned down at her. "Hey, Beautiful. Not a problem and nothing important." He dipped his head and kissed her cheek before slipping inside. His eyes scanned the girl as he walked backwards into her room and he winked at her. "So what are we learning today Ms. Lopez?" He wondered what kind of play she was doing that required the need for learning lines.

Maya grinned as Chance walked into her room and blushed slightly as he kissed her cheek. This was going to be a regular greeting with Chance. "Well I'm supposed to be learning this one passage. Where Hamlet comes back home to find that Ophelia crazy. Its mostly a monologue, but there's a few bits with the Queen. " she said while tossing her heavy book over to him. "Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark?" she started, but stopped. "I have issues with going off the cues from the other lines. "

Chance catches the book and arches a brow. "You poor thing. Give me a few minutes, I don't know anything about Shakespeare's stuff." He winked at her and starts studying the monologue. "No kissing scene? I'd really help with that." He winked to let her know he was teasing her. The young man looked down and then back up at her. "I'll do my best but this might as well be all Greek to me." His eyes narrowed as he studied the passage once again.

Maya grinned as he suggested a kissing scene. "That would be the wrong play. This is a tragedy, without the hopeless love scenes. You've never read any Shakespeare?" she asked while trying to remember what her line was.
"How should I your true love know From another one? By his ... " she said, thinking about what word it could be. She remembered that it was something funny.
"Damn this sucks. I wish I could just forget this and go outside or something. she groaned while flopping on her bed.

Chance just shook his head. "Never saw the romanticism in his stories. I don't know they just never spoke to me." He really couldn't get into Ol' Will and he wasn't exactly sure why. He just wanted to roll his eyes at Romeo and Juliette. Not that he didn't like a good play just constant tragedy seemed to wear on him.
He watched her and shook his head when she was struggling. The fact that she was having a hard time let him know that she needed a brake. When she flopped down on her bed he actually followed her. He used his fists to keep himself from landing her and looked down at her. "Put it away for now. It's raining. Let's go dance." He winked down at her and kissed the tip of his nose before pushing himself back up.

Maya blinked as she looked at Chance, hovering over her now. The girl looked up at him and grinned as he kissed the tip of her nose. Yes, she did need a well deserved study break.
"Wait what?" she asked. Oh that is true, she did want to dance in the rain. They had agreed to dance in the rain the last time they hung out. Maya giggled and slip off of the bed and jumped up.
"Oh great! Lets go do that." she grinned.

Chance looked down into her eyes while he was hovering over her, that was one of the reasons he had pushed back up. He waited for it to sink in what he wanted to do and then grinned when she realized it. "Leave your shoes here, we won't need them. You sure you want to do this?"
He took her hand and slipped off his shoes. "Ready?" He also left his watch and cell phone in her room before heading outside to dance with her in the rain.

Maya threw her shoes off her feet and balanced her weight on the tips of her toes. A devious smile spread across her face as she put her cell phone back on the desk.
"Okay mister, lets so this. Why wouldn't I?" she said while gently pushing him out of her room and closing her door. Maya was excited to finally be rid of her book- even if temporary- but she was more excited to hang out with Chance.
"Lead the way." she giggled.

Blue eyes watched as she took her shoes off. He couldn’t help but lean over and kiss her cheek when she said she was ready. He took her hand as she pushed him out of the room and waited for her to lock up. Then he grinned and took them outside, her hand still in his. It was an unseasonably warm rain and he was thankful for it. Chance turned on a heel and bowed to her, quite formally. He kept his head tilted up she could read his lips. ”May I have this dance, m’lady?”

Maya wasn't sure she liked being kissed every second of every time she was with Chance, it was unsettling and made her lightheaded. She knew that she liked him, but did she want him like that?
As she walked outside, the warm rain drops fell onto her face. She blinked, but went on to the moist grass and did a little twirl. "Of course good sir." she grinned and Maya swayed from hip to hip.

Chance noticed she became uncomfortable and sighed softly. He looked down at her. ”I’m sorry, that was out of bounds and I won’t do it again. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. “ He had the decency to look discomfited and embarrassed. He scratched the back of his head and looked everywhere but at her as he tried to regain his inner balance. Usually, he was better at this, but she was throwing him off his game.
The young man grinned at the girl and took her into his arms as he led her through an old fashioned waltz. He was smart enough to keep their bodies separated so she didn’t feel so threatened by him. But with the grace of a young man forced to take lessons and be good at them, Chance danced her through the rain.

Maya should have known that Chance knew how to waltz. Anyone with that much money had taken dance lessons too. Who knows maybe he would have been someone's escort to one of those silly Debutante Balls. She blushed as he hastily appologized for his actions. Maya didn't want him to feel bad about it. She actually liked being close to someone- even it was only friend like for now.
"No its fine. I'm just not used to my friends doing that" she said with an innocent smile. Maya couldn't help but smile at the fact she was outside, dancing in the rain. Something about it felt just so... fun.
The girl moved her feet to the exact steps that Chance waltz and moved a little bit closer. It would be funny to see anyone's faces peeking out at their strange behavior.
"You were right. This was what I needed."
