So, she had gotten her first pay check but Amber wasn't going to spend it all crazy like. However, she did need some new clothes. With that in mind she slipped out of the academy and headed toward the city. Maybe if she was lucky she could find a Wal-Mart or something. Not that the girl didn't like to shop, but right now she couldn't afford it. Right now she was trying to get her life back on track. Besides she needed a cell phone and a good one wasn't cheap.
The dark haired woman walked down the streets looking from shop to shop. A small smile tugged her lips as she enjoyed the weather. Her clothes were well worn but well kept. She had on an old sweatshirt, basic gray, and a pair of worn down jeans. On her feet were well used sneakers. Long dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail that swung as she walked. Today was going to be a good day, she could just feel it.

," she began. " ain't it?" Boston, like other big metropolitan cities, tended to boast high costs of living for everything from a box of Cracker Jack's to a new home. Clothes was no exception, generic or brand name both.[/ul]

Dominique needed a vacation. Constantly studying in college was way too dull for him. Even his workouts along with the occasional fight ever now and again weren't enough to ease the boredom that had settled over him. This is how he found himself in Boston trying a change of pace. He wore his usual clothing which blended him into the crowded streets easily. Some comfy blue jeans, a red jacket over a plain white t-shirt, and a pair of sneakers along with a cap to complete the look. He didn’t look out of place even slightly.
But Dom wasn’t one for crowds so he slipped out of the hustle and bustle for some air. This was much more of a challenge than it seemed as he was collided with from different directions. He was pushed out of the crowd, but also ran into two young ladies that had been talked amongst themselves, bumping into them. The bump was rather weak, but it could be very well taken as a rude gesture. “Sorry ‘bout that fleurs,” he apologized. Then continued trying to make the situation less serious and a bit more friendly. “Fate rather insisted on me meeting the two of you,” he finished with a small smile.

Amber sighed and as she looked at the clothes in the window. Comfort was her foremost issue when buying clothing, especially shoes, but that didn't mean the girl didn't want to look good. She was aware that you could have comfort and style, regardless of what people thought. At the sound of someone else's voice she turned and smiled at the girl. "Very. You know why expensive clothes last so long? Because people will only wear it once or very very rarely. What's the point?" What was the point of spending a couple of grand on a dress you would only wear once? Because for that one moment you were special. Finally Amber turned and smiled at the girl. "Hello."
The smile was still on her face when she got bumped buy a rather large man. At least she didn't go flying to the ground and he apologized for it. "No harm, no foul." Amber barely stopped her blue eyes from rolling at the cheesy line, but she had stopped them none the less. Then she looked over at the other girl and gave her a 'what can you do' look along with a small shrug.

," she said with a formulating smile. " Name's Heather, and you are?" Honestly, Heather had no idea why she felt so ticked off. It wasn't as bad as it was weeks ago, but remnants of it remained. Life always enjoyed doing something to her, be it a slap in the face or a gentle bump from a stranger. If she were anyone else, this whole planet would have been leveled. Fortunately, Heather Cameron was fairly in check of her emotions and the slight annoyance of Dom's entrance. " Fate must have a decent health care plan, who knows what kind of person you could have bumped into?," she replied, tone full of sarcasm. " Not everyone would hold back how they really feel."[/ul]

Dom's small smile turned casual as the two girls didn't seem too angry with him. He was also in a really good mood since he had escaped the confines of the crowded foot traffic.
He took in the two he had bumped into in a bit more detail. One of them had fair hair and the other's was dark, both were easy on the eyes. The smaller girl with dark seemed to have dismissed him entirely, no doubt from his lame remark about fate. As for the other with sarcasm dripping from her tone like vemon, Dom wasn't too sure. She might have accepted his apology or she could very well be thinking about punching his lights out. Hopefully, he could avoid recieving any physical harm.
"Health care? As a matter of fact I think he does," Dom replied without missing a beat. "But luckily, I ran into deux dames jolies, intelligentes et douces. So I don't have to go to the hospital anytime soon."

Amber looked over at the girl and grinned. "Hello, Heather, I'm Amber." She held out her hand for the girl to shake if she were so inclined. Heather's answer rolled around in her head and she had to agree. "I think your's is the better answer though. I want to look good yes, but I'd much rather be comfortable. I can be cute and sensible. It makes me unique." She grinned at the girl then. Maybe this day wouldn't bee too bad after all.
Well this was a bit awkward but not, which was awkward in itself. With that thought Amber made a mental note to get some coffee since she seemed to be lacking in the caffeine area at the moment. A small smile touched her lips as the two bantered a bit. Oh sure she knew it wasn't really bantering per say, but it was the polite way to put it. Her dark head tilted to the side when he started speaking in French. She herself didn't speak it and was wondering what he was saying. "Translation? I know they say that even an insult sounds like a compliment in French. If it was a compliment I'd love to hear it." Amber couldn't stop the smirk that touched her lips.

," she acknowledged. " too chipper. I'd be willing to suspect something is up with you, but I'm not going to make such an assumption." And she didn't, at least not unless Dom continued to press such upon her. Anyway, she wasn't doing this alone, Heather had her newly introduced friend Amber by her side. " Well Amber, it is a jolly to meet you. You have a good head on your shoulders, much unlike a lot of the folks I've met since coming here.," Heather informed her fellow woman while taking her hand, shaking it of course. " Nothing says a good day is bound to be like similar-minded people meeting, or so I believe. You also beat me to the punch; I intended to ask ol' Napoleon here for a translation."[/ul]

Well now, what was this? Seems as if his french may be able to ease any tension left between him and the young lady with dark hair. Dom also didn't miss the small smile that spread across her face. His smile turned rougish.
He held up his hands as if caught in the act of something. "Guess I've been caught red handed in my subtle cajun style french flirting. Deux dames jolies, intelligentes et douces," he repeated the french before translating. "Two gentle, lovely, and intelligent young ladies." He then gave a slight bow and gently took Amber's hand in his own to place a light kiss on the back. May as well since his flirting was obvious by this point. He hadn't intented on flirting, but best to seem harmless than dangerous in the eyes of others.
Dom released Amber's hand as eyes made their way to the other girl. She was being very critical of him. Distrust derived from his happiness? Did she think he had some other motives? He didn't miss the jab in his direction. What could he have possibly done to warrant such anger? He must have caught the fair haired beauty on a bad day.
"My name is Dominique, Miss Heather, Dom for short. Just a simple Cajun traveling around." He had caught both of their names from when Amber introduced herself. "You'll have to excuse my happiness, but if I wasn't happy about running into two lovely young ladies I'd have to wonder about myself don't you think?" He finished his introduction by gently taking one of Heather's hands and, just like before with Amber, placed a light kiss upon the back before releasing it again. Dom caught a few others staring as they continued on their way, but thought nothing of it.

The dark haired woman blinked at the blond and was very proud of herself, since she didn't slap her forehead. That girl was suspicious! OK well she couldn't really blame her but she was wondering if maybe she wasn't being a bit too dramatic. But Amber liked the girl anyway at least she wasn't going to drop to the guys feet or ask about the size of his wallet. Besides as, angry and suspicious as the girl seemed toward this guy, she was nice to Amber. So the dark haired girl's grin widened, and she couldn't hide the snicker. "Thank you for compliment, and not everyone is so bad." She had met a few decent people since she got here.
A dark brow raised at the man when he said he was flirting. Well she had figured that out on her own. She smirked when he kissed her hand. When he gave the translation she turned at looked at Heather. "Well we now know two things. One, he has tasted and two he has fairly smart for realizing our worth." Then his attention turned toward Heather and Amber started making mental bets about how long it would take them to go out on a date.

Heather watched as the male went to take, then kiss her hand. Not moving she waited until he was finished, then the moment her hand was released, Heather put it back at her side. Maybe you should check to see if a girl wants to be touched, there is such a thing as personal space." Maybe," she began; her thoughts being pushed aside. " or he could just be someone trying to swindle us." Heather wasn't stupid, though her street smarts came at the cost of being critical and blunt, thus alienating some people. " Like I said though, I'll pass at making a judgment. Though so far, he seems to be just an innocent passerby." Still, that flirtatious attitude reminded her of Davis. Her brother was always doing that, and it wasn't an experience she wanted double of. " So, Dominique. What were your plans for today?," she asked, already expecting a Davis-esque response. Oh God help the Cajun if he even thought about some silly answer.[/ul]

Dom was enjoying himself immensely. This encounter was getting better and better as the talk continued. Maybe Fate really did want him to meet these two. With his flirting he could tell much about the two in front of him. He'd be willing to bet that Amber was enjoying the conversation just as much as he was. And while Heather wasn't as forth coming with any lighter emotions, she hadn't really smacked him yet either so he counted that as a plus.
Amber was a rose that enjoyed being noticed for her beauty and Dom was pretty sure that Heather was as well, but she had thorns. Thorns that had most likely came from frustration of personal matters. Good thing Dom was being careful or he might have been nicked and bleeding already.
Dom took Amber's comment on him to Heather as another sign that she was enjoying this. Absently, he wondered if she was going to start flirting back, but dismissed it a moment later. He'd find out soon enough. Still near Heather, he studied her body language in a quick glance while she spoke.
"If I'm correct I do believe that multiple negatives can equal a positive," he thought to himself. He almost asked her if she wanted to be touched, but thought better of it. That could be taken very poorly, especially in the mood she was in. And if he wanted to steal from them, they would have never even known till they checked.
When in doubt try logic, "If I'm trying to swindle you I would certainly leave the moment you noticed for fear of my health. Especially, if you gave me an obvious clue like that comment just now." He paused and waited a few moments. Then he looked down at his feet, which hadn't budged. "Seems as if I wasn't trying to swindle you two after all."
He almost faultered when she asked him what his plans were. Was she opening up? Or was it some kind of test? So many ways to answer that question. He took out a peace of blank paper and looked over it as if something was written on it. "Lets see. 'Meet two lovely ladies'? Check. 'Flirt shamelessly after apologizing for bumping into them'? Check." He paused acting as if he was looking over the rest. "There isn't anything after that so I guess I'm free. Would you two mind if I accompanied you?"

As much as she hated to admit it, Heather had a point. Lord only knew that she should have learned long ago, you can't trust most people. But it was hard not to want to flirt back. "Point taken, especially in this day and age." Now of course she was talking about being a mutant but neither one of them would know that yet, seeing as how she'd never had the chance to meet Heather before. Once more she looked over at Dom and then back at Heather. "But you have to admit, the man is good at what he does." She swears it's a Cajun thing. Has to be, no one does charm like a Cajun.
Dom was a smart ass too, that just made her grin a bit more. Although now she was wondering if she shouldn't leave the two alone. Oh she could definitely see these to possibly having sparks if they weren't careful. One all hellfire and brimstone (Heather) and one smooth as silk (Dom). Oh these two were going to be a joy to watch. "Well since all of us just sort of met today and bumped into each other, maybe it was fate after all. Either of you hungry?" Watching these two would be better than going to a movie and cheaper too.

," she said, though in a bit more of a playful tone, just not playful enough to take advantage of, to Amber. " You can cut the flirty stuff out, mate.," she reprimanded the male, doing so in a tone very unlike what she used moments ago. " We, or at least I got it the first time, know you like the ladies. Fine, just... don't overdo it, it makes me sick." Heather opted out of punching the guy in the face, as she knew he'd make a silly response to her question; just like Davis. " At least talk to me like a human being, not some sort of prize to be won." Heather wasn't a bitch, she was just blunt. There was also the fact she wanted to be viewed as an equal, not a piece of property. " If you know a place, I'm willing.," Heather replied to Amber's offer. " That is, unless someone else has an alternative."[/ul]

Dom almost sighed in relief, but restrained the urge with no physical signs showing outwardly. The crisis was averted and without any bodily harm to his person. He wasn't put down by Heather's cold shoulder in the slightest.
The offer of a meal was also to tempting to pass up. It had been a while since Dom had a good meal. With all the stores around here it was impossible for a country man like himself to tell which ones sold food. Thank goodness he acquired two guides for this urban maze named Boston or he might have very well starved to death on the streets.
However, one statement drew him out of his thought and caused his smile to drop for a moment. "I'd never treat a woman like an object, mon cher, its not how I was raised," he mumbled mostly to himself. A gentlement treated a woman with respect. The one of the worst things a man could do is win a woman over without knowing how to threat her.
When Heather's gaze focused on him with a inquiry on a place he could only shrug, showing he didn't have any place in mind. Hopefully his confusion would cover up while his smile dropped momentarily. "I'm the Cajun, mon cher, I'd still be wandering around these parts in a crowd if I hadn't run in to the two of you. I'd be glad to pay for the meal though. What kind of gentlemen would make two ladies pay for dinner."
