Amber smiled over at Heather and thought she was finally starting to understand the girl. That made her feel even worse for ragging on her, but she decided to let it lie for the moment. The young woman ordered the special just to keep things simple. She watched as Dom requested the piano and she gave a small smile. This could be fun. "I don't know how to play it, other than chopsticks. But let's see what we can do. I never said I could sing either, I just like to." What the hell right? Might as well have some fun while they are all waiting for their food. She turned and looked at Heather. "You up for it?"

," Heather said, alluding to the fact she'd gone with what the waiter suggested. " You two have fun, I'm fine here." Sighing lightly, Heather waited for her meal as Dom and Amber were free to do as they pleased. Idly Heather pondered just what the male would play, as she had her own assumptions due first impression and such. Of course what someone played was only secondary to how they played, as many believed themselves to be wonderful musicians yet... well, they totally sucked. " I'll just get in the way."[/ul]

Dom moved to guide Amber to the piano while chuckling at her modest comments. "Its easy, Cher, I'll help you. And if it makes you feel better I can't sing at all." He paused at Heather's refusal and almost sighed. "You don't need to know how to do something to learn how to do it...don't hesitate to jump in if ya want." By this point Dom was already pretty sure that it was useless to try and change her mind. He then continued guiding Amber to the piano while talking to her.
"Alright," he said testing a few keys when he got to the instrument. He then pointed to two of them in particular. "The song starts off with these two keys. Just press them like this." He then showed her, pressing one after the other a few times before moving aside. "Go ahead, Cher."

Amber looked over at Heather and shrugged. It was the girl's decision on if she wanted to join or not. "Alright, but if you get the urge to, don't hesitate to join." She got up and followed Dom to the piano and sat down. She smirked over at him when he said he couldn't sing and nodded when he said they could learn. It was true.
She watched as he showed her the keys to play and she did so with a bit of a grin. "If I hit a sour note you can't laugh too hard." She gave him a mock glare and then grinned again. This could be fun.

Dom leaned against the piano as Amber sat and fiddled with the keys a bit. If felt good to hear a real piano again. No matter how accurately the sound was captured with a device it always lacked. It just wasn't the same as actually playing the instrument. The recordings just felt a bit empty compared to the real thing.
He was drawn out of his thoughts by Amber's comment. "The thought never crossed my mind, Cher," he answered with a small smile still on face. He really hadn't expected anything from Heather so when she gave a request all he could do was glance up at her and raise an eyebrow. Maybe she was starting to lighten up?
He took a seat next to Amber but didn't touch the keys. "You wouldn't happen to know the lyrics would you? I think it'd be funny if we made Heather's jaw hit the table." Piano Man was a simple piece on the piano. At least, it was for him. He didn't consider himself a master of the instrument, but it'd be a blant lie to say he wasn't good on the piano.

Amber smirked when he said that the thought never crossed his mind. "No cringing either. Well not too much." If he really knew how to play she couldn't blame him for cringe if she hit a really bad note. But the young woman shrugged and continued to play with the keys. She looked up a bit surprised when Heather told them her request. It was fitting she supposed. Her head turned at Dom's question and she just grinned. "Never said I was good at it, but I'll sing it." She winked and took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

Dom glanced at Amber and nodded. "Not like we're trying to impress anyone." He just liked to play. It was rare when he happen to chance upon a piano. So, naturally, he planned on enjoying himself.
His fingers danced across the piano with the skill that could have only come from years of practice. To think that such a talent had been born by mistake. It is amazing what could happen due to mere chance. The introduction to Piano Man drifted throughout the restuarant. People looked up in interest as he played it perfectly. Must not have many that actually knew how to play wander in here. His smile became serene instead of happy or forced like it had been recently. To say it felt good to play again would have been an understatement.

Amber smirked and nodded at him. "You got a point there. I've won a few karaoke contests though. Not gonna make American Idol." She grinned as he started to play and when it was, time to sing she grinned wider.
Its nine oclock on a saturday The regular crowd shuffles in Theres an old man sitting next to me Makin love to his tonic and gin
He says, son, can you play me a memory? Im not really sure how it goes But its sad and its sweet and I knew it complete When I wore a younger mans clothes
La la la, de de da La la, de de da da da
Sing us a song, youre the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, were all in the mood for a melody And youve got us feelin alright
Now john at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And hes quick with a joke or to light up your smoke But theres someplace that hed rather be He says, bill, I believe this is killing me. As the smile ran away from his face Well Im sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place
Oh, la la la, de de da La la, de de da da da
Now paul is a real estate novelist Who never had time for a wife And hes talkin with davy whos still in the navy And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes, theyre sharing a drink they call loneliness But its better than drinkin alone
Its a pretty good crowd for a saturday And the manager gives me a smile cause he knows that its me theyve been comin to see To forget about life for a while And the piano, it sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say, man, what are you doin here?
Oh, la la la, de de da La la, de de da da da

," she lowly spoke, taking another sip of her glass of water. It felt good just like the last time, but having a meal right about now would be even better. Idly wondering as she waited, Heather could only imagine if Dom and Amber would continue or return. It didn't much matter, as by the looks of it their meals would take quite some time to arrive.[/ul]

It was always the modest ones. They always managed to surprise you because you never really expected much. The way they thought nothing of their skills or talent led you to believe they weren't that great. That is until they actually showed their true colors.
Amber had a much better voice than she said. The piano complemented her voice, but all those eyes drifted away from him to look on as the girl a few feet away sang. He laughed lightly to himself. About time he had a bit of fun during his vacation.
As the song came to an end the sound of numerous people clapping drowned out the last of the piano's fleeting melody. Dom just sat back and added his hands to the round of applause. He preferred to be in the background where less attention was focused on him despite his flirting attitude.
"Take a bow, Cher," he called out. He glanced at the table where Heather sat as his applause came to an end. Still no food. They must be short handed or something. If it took this long for a meal it hopefully would be worth the wait. If not, Dom didn't plan on visiting this place again any time soon. What to do now? Return to the table or enjoy the sound of the piano a bit longer?

Amber grinned when people clapped and she shrugged a bit. "I like to karaoke." She smirked and took a bow and even waved at the people as she tried not to laugh. Her eyes landed on the table and noticed there wasn't any food yet. Then she caught movement out of the corner of her eye and saw the waiter moving to their table, food in hand. "That was fun, but I'm starving." Amber grinned over at Dom and winked as she made her way back to their table. "Enjoy the show?" The young woman asked the fellow female.

Dom's eyes saw the waiter with food in hand making his way to their table. He was tempted to play a bit longer, but his hunger was getting the best of him. As Amber made her way back leaving a parting wink in her wake he stood and stretched a bit before making his way back as well.
He caught the end of Heather's statement that the two of them should do this more often. "I don't know about that." Sure he like playing, but it was more for himself than others. And if he turned it into a chore it wouldn't be as satisfying.
