Amber sat down to eat and looked over at Heather shaking her head. ”I’m not that good, just like to karaoke. I keep saying that hoping someone will believe me.” She grinned and looked over at Dom. ”You on the other hand played beautifully. Ever thought to do it professionally?” Honestly, she’d probably buy one of his albums. She took a bite of her food and after swallowing and wiping her mouth she looked at Heather. ”What about you? Any hidden talents? Hobbies or the like?” She figured try to get the girl involved in the conversation at least once more. If it didn’t work then she would just have to let the girl be. Amber really hoped it would work.

" Strange, she noted. Amber and Dom were hitting it off, and despite being the third wheel wasn't shooed away. Heather would have laughed, but laughter took a vacation and left behind a smirk instead. " Talents? Hobbies?," she repeated, right eyebrow twitching before rising. " None that would be of much particular interest, they tend to be a tad big-noter." Australian lingo for 'boastful', or something similarly close to that. Heather just knew how to use it, to explain what it meant was so out of the ordinary. " But at the same time, rather pitiful as well. I attend classes, prepare strategies, slap my brother into shape, nothing extraordinary really. I'd do more, but the resources I have are rather..." The word... The word... The word... " ... gutser." Having said that, Heather wasn't sure how keen they were to the land down under, so she elaborated on her last word. " It means bad, sorry. Still getting used to you Yanks." No way in hell Lifeguard was revealing she had mutant powers, at least not in casual conversation.[/ul]

Dom took a seat and reached for the ketchup as the two women talked with each other. His name came up and he looked at Amber with a bit of confusion. Professional? Not a chance. He chuckled at the thought, but didn't answer since the girl had already begun questioning Heather.
Upon grabbing the bottle of ketchup, Dom noticed that it felt empty. The bottle wasn't clear so one would be unable to tell normally. He almost sighed in annoyance, but restrained the urge and looked around for a waiter. None were in sight. However, he did see someone about to use their own ketchup nearby.
To the outside eye nothing changed, but Dom was able to compliment his dry fries with ketchup before replacing the bottle. Neither the person whom he "borrowed" the bottle from or anyone else in the place would have noticed since he even returned it. He wasn't hesitant or shy about using his power. Hadn't met a person yet who noticed the shift.
He ate one of the fries and moved on to the burger. Not bad, took a while, but not bad. It wasn't quite wortht the wait, but it was good enough. He only half listened as the two girls chatted with one another.

Amber was at a bit of a loss. When Heather answered she nodded and grinned. ”You’ve got a brother? Younger I take it?” The young woman grinned at the word and nodded. ”Well if you like it and you are good at it, you should do it.” She started to eat alright she knew not to come to this place again. The food was decent but not really worth the hassle. She noticed that Dom didn’t say anything and sighed softly. She was really trying to get some sort of conversation going but was close to giving up on it.
”So… Any ideas on what to talk about?”

," she corrected. " Though he acts younger. He's also very... flamboyant, likes the femmies. You'll know him when you see him, trust me." Like Amber, she enjoyed her meal but also realized it was not worth the wait. Still, she wasn't paying - Dom was - and that made it bearable. Maybe he'd offer to buy Heather a car, that'd be nice she thought, but the male didn't seem to be that determined to impress her, which was exactly what she wanted. " Hard to be good at something when others won't cooperate, but you just have to get around it.," she continued. " Which has always struck me as funny, seein' as how a bloke can drown and be more easy going than the ones I deal with. Guess it's why I miss being a lifeguard sometimes."[/ul]

Dom glanced up at the sound of a sigh. Was the food on her plate a bit disappointing in her opinion or did he just do something wrong? He took another bite of his burger. He didn't really have anything to talk about so he just chewed thoughtfully. Now that his attention was back on the two girls he heard Heather's description of her brother. For a moment, his mind wandered to how his grandmother was doing. He'd have to give her a call soon. Anyway, Heather's brother sounded like a fun character.
Swallowing he spoke up, "Your brother sounds like a fun guy." before taking another bite of his burger.

Amber was just about to take the last bite of her meal and opened her mouth to comment when her cell phone went off. Being the healer at a mutant academy where they trained in combat, meant she was pretty much on call 24/7. ”Excuse me.” She got up from the table and took the call. Damn, seemed a couple the students got a little personal and wild with their powers in training. She needed to get back. She came back to the table and took her last bite. ”Sorry guys, I gotta go, an emergency came up at work. Thank you for the lunch Dom, here’s my number if you need anything. Here for you to Heather in case you need anything. I got the tip.” She gave them both her number and dropped down the money to cover the tip. From the sounds of it, it wasn’t too good and she had to get there fast. She could already feel her hands wanting to start to glow and shoved them in her pockets as she made a mad dash out the door. ”Taxi!”

" Cell phone, here? Who's was it? Amber's. " Appreciated, the tip an' all.," she said, beginning to realize Sacrifice was going to leave, effectively leaving her with Dom. Nope, no way was she sticking with this guy, and picking off the last bits of her meal, the Australian stood to also depart. " I take it you'll finish up here?," she asked, looking to the Cajun before dropping three dollars of her own. Might as well, she did take up space and also dirtied their utensils. " If so, I'll be leaving." Heather would eventually run into Amber again, she was sure of it, them both being members of the Hellions. Talk about irony waiting to happen, this was definitely a contender.[/ul]

Dom finished his burger just as a dull ring came from Amber's direction. He finished his fries as she excused herself from them and glanced at Heather, who seemed just as clueless as he was.
"No problem, Cher," he said after she explained her emergency. He really didn't know why she gave him her number though. What could he possibly need in the future? In the back of his mind he even wondered if it was just a fake number. She practically flew out of the diner, leaving him and Heather. However, he doubted that she'd stay much longer considering her distaste of him.
His theory was proven correct when she stood abruptly. "Nice meetin' ya, Cher," he said as she moved to make her departure. What to do now? Two girls he'd probably never see again, still no idea where he was in Boston, and no idea where he could find a place to crash for the night. Ah well, at least this wasn't a complete waste of time. He did get decent company and a decent meal. The money could be stolen back if he needed it.
He stood himself and moved once more to the piano and took a seat. A gentle melody began to drift though the place in dedication to the two girls he met. Slow and steady with a bit of hidden happiness, the sound continued. Eventually, Dom merely faded into the background, becoming part of the atmosphere the restuarant offered. And when no one noticed he disappeared, one last note fading on the instrument at his departure.
"What to do now?" He asked himself as he navigated through the still world around him, glowing blue eyes looking for anything that might catch his interest.
